if guel had an actually interesting and worthwhile arc and wasn't constantly used by fans and bandai to be homophobic and misogynistic i wouldn't be such a bitter bitch about him.

Seeing all these lovely Sulemio drawings done by the staff reminded me how sad it made to find out that one of the main illustrators (t*g*m*r**) doesn’t seem to like Miorine and prefers the het ship. Too bad because their style is really nice and they had great ideas around Suletta's childhood and slice of life moments

i don't know where people got that she hates miorine but she is indeed obsessed with g*esule (i can't remember if she likes el*sule too) and follows a bunch of gsl shippers who probably participate in that whole hate bandwagon on miorine/sulemio which is fucking lame but i expected that staff would have different preferences. one of them is literally homophobic lol (has a bunch of old tweets saying he doesn't like BL and GL), it's unfortunately still dire out there in japan. there are a bunch of other staff who like sulemio though, some of them just aren't on twitter. the artbooks have a bunch of married/romantic sulemio art and a "sulemio is god" message from staff was literally allowed on the OFFICIAL artbook. sooo i wouldn't sweat it.

I wish we had this same level of energy when that Japanese magazine had their characters survey (the one that ended up with the girls and G*l in tuxedos). I remember when it was first shared that all of the related tweets were from SuleG*l fans and yup he ended up getting more votes than Miorine and Gojo!

ikr. iirc at the time a lot of guel fans were salty miorine won the dengeki poll lol. sometimes his fans bank on sulemio fans not finding out about some polls, that's how desperate competitive they are.

This isn't quite a coherent thought yet, but there's probably something significant about how many of anime's most iconic yuri couples are defined by witch iconography, right? Utena and Anthy, Madoka and Homura, now Suletta and Miorine as well... maybe it's something about the persecution subtext and reclaiming a label that's historically been used to subjugate women as a symbol of power and identity? Or something like that?
