So, I think out of all of Lance’s incarnations, the one version mine appears to distance himself the most is the one from the manga. So, this means that Lance doesn’t have any resemblance of special powers, which grant him some form of empathy (or make him feel his pokemon’s emotions-- something like that, I can’t quite recall atm).

With that said though, my Lance clearly has a far better understanding and deeper connection with his pokemon, than anyone else.

// There is so little when it comes to Drake’s canon, which essentially forced me to stick with whatever there is to him. With that said though, the only major divergence I can find between my Drake and the canon one happens to be, his views on the bonds between humans and pokemon.

In the canon, Drake’s views on the matter are pretty standard. As in, it’s not that different from anyone else, who works for the League. It’s always treated as the most important thing ever, that sort of stuff. But, when it comes to my Drake? Things are quite different, once you look into how he raised and treated his pokemon.

Clearly, his definition of bonds between humans and pokemon, hasn’t aged well and it wouldn’t be received well in the present day’s League. He raised his pokemon to despise him, I don’t think that any kind of friendship can be found here.

// Again, much like Drake, there is so little about Kahili in her canon to begin with. Which forced me to kinda of, stick together almost anything I could find to her.

Despite that, I can safely say how her anime’s incarnation is the one, I take the least inspiration from. There’s no such thing as genuinely kind, when it comes to Kahili.

// So out of all my muses, only a handful of them actually celebrate christmas. The majority of them simply treat it as a normal day, since their focus is on the New year’s eve (or another holiday in their region). Only the following muses actually get to celebrate it:

Barry and Palmer: Christmas was the only time of the year Palmer was capable of visiting, and spending some time with his family. Although, once Barry started travelling abroad- the reunions became something far more intimate between Palmer and his wife. Most of the regions Barry has travelled to don’t celebrate this holiday, so there have been a few years he has gone by without celebrating it. But there were a few christmas, that he spent in pokecenters alongside other trainers that stayed over.

Drake: Drake got a taste of the holiday through his travels all over the world, by interacting with other sailors or stopping by around that time in regions such as Unova and Kalos. Christmas isn’t celebrated in Hoenn, so he is pretty neutral about the holiday as a whole. Overall, he has had good experiences involving it.

Juan: Kalos is amongst the few regions that celebrate the holiday, Juan’s family never missed it out- and he carried over the tradition even after cutting ties with them. Juan enjoys almost everything related to it, from decorating his mansion to hosting huge parties for the special day.

Tabitha: Tabitha only began celebrating it, once he moved into Unova. At first he would hesitantly participate on it, in order to try and not raise anyone’s eyebrows - or cause anyone to question the fake story he gave others. Eventually, the holiday grew on him and he started getting used to it.

Riley: He spends it all by himself. He is nowhere to be found during the holiday, no one seems to know where he has gone to. However, his disappearance doesn’t seem to worry anyone- not even his partner, Byron. It’s an odd phenomenon to put it mildly, the man simply waits for his return- and doesn’t seem to be concerned at all about the whereabouts of his so-called “loved one”.

Rowan: Rowan spends christmas with Richard. Simply put and self-explenatory, it is a rare moment in both men’s lives where they have some actual free time for themselves. Usually, he travels all the way to Iron island and spends it there with him. Although, as of lately- they have spent a few christmas eves in the professor’s place in Sandgen town.

Kahili: Alola may not celebrate christmas, but this is a huge event that is held by her father’s hotel. People from all over the world, gather up to participate in it- after all it is the perfect place to spend the holiday. Although, Kahili tends to spend this time of the year in Kalos, with her mother’s new family. She seems to be neutral about it, Kahili doesn’t mind the holiday at all.

// Some flying HCs I guess:

Flying on the back of a pokemon to a destination, is definetely the fastest way to travel. However, it’s far from being the safest and only truly experienced trainers get to afford this luxury. From safety gears, to even using the right kind of pokemon that could withstand these types of travels.

Death while flying without any of the things mentioned above, is a common ocurrance. As such, this is a method not really encouraged by the League- and just about anyone really.

Lance uses this method all the time to assist him travelling through the Tojoh continent, and often relies on it whenever he needs to head out abroad.

His pokemon of choice for this is Zentrum, his signature Dragonite. He is the most fit to make through, the long distances with relative ease and speed.

Lance may have been raised in a location with low air pressure, however he always wears special gear when flying (masks, goggles, another coat to assist him with the changes in temperature, parachute, rein for Dragonite, etc). Think of a jet plane pilot, in a sort of way.

While in the air like this, Lance can only communicate via gestures and signs. (Similar to the ones used by an air force pilot);

There have been a few casualties throughout his years, of flying on Dragonite. He has come very close to death, or badly injure himself on a few occasions;

The art of flying on the back of pokemon, isn’t something exclusive to his clan. However, he learned it from his mentors back in Blackthorn city, only in theory. The practice however, he had to start it shortly after he became an elite member.

Steven also uses this method in order to travel, regardless of his destination this is his preferred method of getting around places, especially around Hoenn. Where he is most well known, and easily recognized by his peers:

As expected: Metagross is his go-to pokemon for this task. He is the only one, who can withstand long distance travels. Also, Metagross’ psychic abilities assist in keeping his trainer safely on top of it;

Much like Lance, Steven also carries with him and wears special gear when flying. He also knows how to communicate via gestures and signs (those used by air force pilots);

Steven has also had a few casualties, while flying. One of which, he was forced to let go of Metagross so he could safely land;

He learned to fly all by himself, he self-taught this skill. Through books, practice, and buying the right equipment.

Drake is another one who uses this method to get around places. However, unlike Lance and Steven, he rarely needs to use this. After all, his favorite method of travelling is still by the sea:

He has two options while flying. Salamence is used for longer travels, in situations he needs to arrive at a certain date/hour, he mega evolves him to guarantee a lot more speed. Meanwhile, his Flygon is only used for shorter trips- within the continent/land, since they can’t last that long.

The same things mentioned on Steven and Lance, also apply to Drake.

Many casualties have happened, which only further makes him try to use fly as the very last option for him. They involved both of his dragons, but especially with his Salamence.

He was partially taught how to fly by the draconids, and later by the Devon corp. For sometime, Joseph believed that flying could help in the deliveries services. However, he was quickly proven wrong- after the loss from a few loads, which ultimately convinced him to abandon this project altogether. If Drake, his best employee, can’t make this work- then anyone else would fail extraordinarily.

A few special mentions:

Morty may use his Drifblim to get around places, by flying. However, this is kept to a very minimun, as it has proven to be a very unreliable method and pokemon. It can easily get dragged away by gusts of wind, it may not go high enough to require special equipment while flying, however he is at the same height as most of the tallest trees and buildings around Johto. He can’t even get to higher places, such as Blackthorn city this way.

Brendan is currently in the process of learning how to fly, on the back of his Salamence.

Contrary to what most people think: Kahili doesn’t fly on the back of any of her pokemon to get around places. She may do it, for a golf tournament but that’s it. She doesn’t have any pokemon with herself, that is suitable for doing any travels in the air. She doesn’t even risk, travelling to the other islands this way.

Palmer doesn’t use fly at all. He has never bothered to learn it, despite in theory his Dragonite could easily endure these sort of travels.

Riley is currently learning to fly, he wishes to use his Metagross for this. He is clearly, taking inspiration and trying to mimic Steven.

Steven Stone: Hoenn’s champion for 5 years, he was defeated by Brendan 2 years after taking over this position. Despite no longer being a champion,  his skills in battles are still as sharp as ever.

Palmer: I haven’t had the chance to touch much on him, throughout the years. But there’s a good reason, why he stands as the Leader of Sinnoh’s Battle frontier. He surpasses any of his colleagues’ skills by a milestone, and throughout his career he has had the opportunity of challenging champions (those who came before the likes of Lance, Steven, Cynthia, etc.). 

Barry: This is more related to what he will become, when he is older. He may be Palmer’s son, but it doesn’t mean he becomes a leader or even the strongest of Johto’s establishment.

Agatha: It is a combination of her skills in battles not aging well, despite holding her elite member title for many years. As well as her pokemon becoming too old, to properly battle.

Kahili: When Alola’s League was created, she was brought on board as an elite member. However, it’s quite obvious she doesn’t fit in with the title given to her. She may have been an island challenge champion, during her childhood. But things have changed, and battles haven’t really been a priority to her for a long time.

Riley: His own ego blinds himself, to the fact that his skills in battle aren’t really as great as he makes himself believe. He may be able to defeat Roark in battles, however Byron still easily defeats him.

Rowan: He has talent for battles, his research and studies of pokemon have shaped- given him a rather peculiar way to come up with battle strategies. However, Rowan has never showed any interest in them in the first place, meaning he never practices- hones the skills he possesses

Tabitha: Becoming an organization’s admin has never taken into accountability his skills in battles, and even then Tabitha has never truly followed the pokemon League’s code of rules for them in the first place. He might be the weakest one out of all my muses.

“Let me explain. Back when I was doing my island trials, I ran into Kukui a handful of times. He was an ordinary trainer, just like any other I stumbled upon through my journey, he never stood a chance against me around this time... It’s no wonder why he quit his challenge, alongside with that other kid who was just as irrelevant... I wouldn’t see him again, until years later when he approached my father to sponsor and invest money on the pokemon League.”

“Nowadays, the tables have turned and by he currently stands as the strongest trainer of this League... Or used to be, until that girl came in. I honestly don’t care.”

“I’m only doing this, and participating in this Pokemon League scheme. Because they need a pretty face to attract trainers! If only Kukui hadn’t convinced my father...”

// ANYWAY so time to bring this subject from Disco.rd to here.

Proper training, preparation and support for League’s members. Not all Leagues can afford this type of project, when it comes to their employees- especially so early on their existence in a region. It is a necessary measurement, however it is very expensive to sustain it.

Pokemon battling for a living, is very different from doing it out of passion/fun. There is a sense of obligation to it, which combined with all the rest of their duties can become overwhelming for most trainers.

I’m bringing this up, because not all of my gym leaders/elite members received this sort of training from the organisation they work for.

Despite Kanto and Johto’s near bankruptcy state at the time, they went ahead and invested in this project. Even though it was way out of their budget, it clearly was meant to cover up some type of corruption/money laundry scheme. In Johto’s case, this was what nearly killed the organisation in the region (they had already spent a large amount of money hiring the most qualified trainers in their respective fields).

As such, Agatha, Lance, Morty, Pryce and Blaine have received the proper training for their respective jobs and duties.

In Hoenn’s case, because the League was sharing grounds with the frontier since the beginning. They needed to grow, and establish themselves quickly- while not blowing their budget. They needed to garner attention to them, so they seeked out popular/famous trainers from the time. Their skills have never been taken into consideration, and they couldn’t afford any type of proper training/preparation.

Juan hasn’t received the training, as such - this contributed to his burn out pretty early on his gym leader work. Although, by the time he returned he has finally received the so much needed training.

Drake’s case was an exception. He originally wasn’t going to receive any type of trainning, however, this was paid/funded by mr.Stone. Obviously, he isn’t aware of this detail.

Alola is currently in a similar situation as Hoenn’s, from 30-20 years in the past. They are brand new in the region, with a very limited budget (it is currently being spent on hiring and building the establishments). On top of having to try and earn people’s interests, seeing how the League is clashing with the local traditions. Much like Hoenn, they have also gathered up popular/famous faces in Alola - battle skills weren’t taken into any consideration in the picking process.

Kahili hasn’t received any type of proper training, and her signs of burn out are showing - and are pretty apparent. They will only worsen, the longer she stays as an elite member.

// Okay so the first thing people should be aware of Kahili, is Alola’s current state of the League:

It is in its infancy, still taking its babysteps. Because of that, it closely resembles the pokemon Leagues from other regions, from about 20 years in the past as usually refferenced by my muses such as Juan and Agatha.

Everything related to it feels and looks like a provisory measurement, rather than something official and long lasting.

What I mean by this is that: Most of the members from the Alola League thus far, were picked based off their fame and local influence/popularity. Rather than something that has taken their skills in battles, into account.

By any and all means, this doesn’t mean that Kahili herself is a weak trainer. But know that, her battle skills weren’t the main driving force for her to take a position as a member of the Elite.

Because the League needs to establish itself and grow, it needs to attract and draw in people to it in the first place. Right now they can’t afford, paying/hiring for the most skilled/powerful trainers of each specialization right away. Because it will make the League challange way too complex - thus less attractive for younger and inexperienced trainers, who may find themselves intimidated by it.

Honestly? It’s difficult to say because of the very limited amount of people that would get to experience or catch a glimpse of it.

Towards her father, she is extremely vocal and outspoken about her care and love for him.

But for someone who she might be fancying? (In a supposed scenario where real love is possible) She would still act just as rude, mean as ever. But between gaps of a affection and interacting with a more genuine- truthful Kahili, someone who is nothing like the usual person she presents herself as.

She mostly giggles, it falls in line with her looks and aesthetic of a beautiful/cute girl. If anything, it accentuates how beautiful her smile is.

// It depends on the holiday you may be talking about! Since the majority of my muses, come from reagions that are way more eastern based. They don’t exactly follow/celebrate the majority of our western holidays (such as: christmas, easter, halloween, etc.), although they do have contact with them to a certain extent.

Since as I’m writing this post we are near christmas, I’ll be focusing on it.

// Out of all my muses, the only one who seems to truly embrace the christmas festives is Agatha. She may spend christmas all alone, but she loves decorating her house, knitting sweaters/scarves for herself, and baking christmas goods. Her family was amongst the few within the Kanto region, who actually celebrated it. Although nowadays, she spends christmas all by herself - and it doesn’t seem like she is bothered by it.

// Morty’s mother side of the family used to celebrate christmas, in fact: The very last good and happy memory he has of them is during christmas, the very last family reunion they had before his abuse started. Needless to say, this isn’t a good time of the year for him - he feels especially lonely. He doesn’ like this holiday - as such he doesn’t celebrate it neither does anything related to it.

Thankfully, that isn’t something he is too worried about. Because he lives and works at Ecruteak city, the heart of Johto’s traditions. And christmas isn’t one of theirs. In fact, whoever celebrates it - is quite frowned upon by the most traditionalists in the city.

// Blaine uses his laboratory to its fullest, around christmas. Since it is completely empty, he can focus on his work without any interruptions at all. Although, his friend mr.Fuji likes to do a little reunion of family and friends around this time of the year, this means he drags Blaine out of his workplace to attend to it.

// Pryce and his family don’t celebrate christmas, BUT they do like the concept and idea of it. As such, he and his wife use it as an excuse to make a family reunion. Gathering up everyone in their home!

// In Sinnoh they do have a holiday, similar to christmas - it has a lot more religious undertone to it mind you. Barry likes this time of the year, because the chances of his father showing up are a lot higher. He isn’t too fond of all the rituals- religious steps involved in this day, but he will go through it all- thanks to his hopes of seeing his father by the end of the day. He also enjoys the family reunions, that take place in his home.

Although ever since he started travelling to the other regions. There have been a few christmas where he spent it by himself or in a pokemon center. He always makes sure to call his mother.

// Palmer tries his hardest to get a brief vacation from the frontier around this time of the year. Although, he wasn’t always successfull at it and had to spend christmas with his colleagues instead.

// Drake has never experienced christmas - neither him or mr.Briney. It doesn’t help that it is way more likely, for him to be out sailing- and see christmas as no different from any other day of his life. Although, he has assosciated this time of the year - with Joseph Stone being extra generous towards him. Giving him a bunch of gifts- seemingly out of goodwill.

// Simply put, the Wataru clan doesn’t celebrate christmas. In fact, they take it as being just another normal day. As such, Lance goes about his day like usual - or at least, as much as the League may allow. The organisation may hold an event or something like it. More often than not, lance takes it as his day off work - where he will either visit his family or just stay home, take care of his pokemon or go look for a fling.

// Tabitha is neutral towards christmas. He lives in Unova, and is seeing/experiencing this event to its fullest. The cafeteria closes early during the day, and hosts a little gift exchange event between the employees. Although, he doesn’t exactly do anything different during the night - maybe he could hit up a bar or something. But he still isn’t feeling the christmas spirit.

// Juan’s family used to celebrate christmas, it was one of the traditions they brought from Kalos. These were one of the few times of the year, where they could host a family gathering - so needless to say Juan has some fond memories of the festives. Even if nowadays, they carry a bittersweet taste to them.

Ever since he became a top coordinator, he wasn’t invited to the christmas parties. From there, he started distancing himself from his family, until his father’s death - which effectively made him cut ties with them altogether.

It hasn’t ruined the celebration completely for him however. Around this time of the year there are many public events he attends to, on top of doing a few performances with this as his subject.

Juan adores decorating his mansion, white and gold being his most used colors. However, he no longer celebrates christmas.

// Brendan’s very first contact with christmas came when he travelled to Sinnoh during Winter. His family doesn’t celebrate it, because it just isn’t of their tradition. He comes from Johto, and moved to Hoenn. His very first real christmas, was spent in a pokemon center in the company of the staff’s members and some other trainers who were there. There wasn’t any gift exchange, but it was a very pleasant night with food and people sharing their wishes for the next year.

// While under his derranged mother’s care, christmas was just another day of abuse for him. Later his adoptive family, celebrated it- and honestly they were extremely good times for Riley. He has a rocky relationship with the festives, to say the very least.

Nowadays he celebrates it because of his relationship with Byron, but he doesn’t care about christmas itself. They basically celebrate it by themselves, because of him - no one from Byron’s family wishes to visit him. It only adds further salt to the injury, for Roark and his relationship with his father. Seeing how the man would much rather, spend it with his supposed lover - than with his family.

// Ever since Rowan divorced Bertha, he has been joining Richard ( @auraguardians​‘ OC) for the christmas festives. He is the one responsible for cooking and baking for them. In these celebrations, they tend to be joined by Riley (Richard’s nephew) and his boyfriend Morty.

He has always enjoyed christmas, even if down the road he would put aside its religious values.

// In Alola they don’t celebrate christmas. Kalos on the other hand... Kahili has never clebrated it in the early years of her life. However, ever since her parents divorced each other - she has been travelling every year to Kalos in order to spend christmas with her mother. She is still getting used to christmas, the party is always an enjoyable time for her but she is oftenly forgetting about it whenever she is in her home region.

Right now? Love is the last thing to come to her mind. She is not interested in falling for anyone. want someone: Yes, but without any ties of commitment.

Seeing how she transitions from the sports field, to the pokemon League and the high class. They are all very different scenarios/contexts, that force her to “swap” personalities/looks in order to best fit in them. Kahili is pretty used to this by now.

Tell me your secret, young lady. Was it your fame? Your fortune? You ARE a renowned golfer, yes? Or was it something different, like your father's connections?"

The hold on her golf bat tightens as she stands quietly listening to the stranger’s, not that farfetched from the truth, words. Kahili’s facial expression and posture barely changes, besides a frown forming on her - she still had that smile on her face.

This isn’t the first time she heard these things - false accusations, as her father and Kukui publicly describe them by.

However, this man is hitting a little too close to home for her own good.

This is why, in moments like this - she knows it is best to just exaggerate her League’s persona. Play dumb - oblivious, give them a smile - so they will shut up.

Nothing that this man is looking for, will come out of her lips.

How does your muse respond to people making advances on them?

// It strongly depends on the person’s looks & appearance.

Kahili will not give a second of her time, if the person doesn’t look appealing in her eyes. Otherwise? If it’s a pretty girl? She will eat it up, and allow any sort of advance... On a sexual manner at least.

She becomes extremely hostile, at any attempt in becoming a friend or even romancing her. She berates and mocks their advances.

Kahili never hides the fact that she only wants one thing out of girls: Sex. And nothing else.

Summer

Juan: Adores warm temperatures. Summer easons, are always his busiest times of the year for his modelling career. Can’t handle low temperatures.

Morty: Everything looks so full of life, it’s vibrant, energetic. Summer vibes are very positive ones, for him.

Kahili: There’s only one type of season in Alola: Summer. It’s what she grew up used with, she can’t handle low temperatures.

Drake: All that he knows is the warm tropical heat, he doesn’t take well at all any dropin the temperature. Because of this, there have been many lands he never sailed to.

Autumn

Blaine: He may be a fire type specialist, and work in laboratories his entire life. But, he is a lot more productive around Autumn rather than Summer. Even the extreme heat, can become a distraction from his work.

Tabitha: He has grown to appreciate this time of the year ever since he moved into Unova. This is when he becomes more perceptive, of his surroundings and finds beauty in the scenery around this season.

Winter

Lance: Don’t let his dragon type specialty fool you. A good chunk of his training, took place in the mountaineous terrain of Blackthorn. He can handle low temperatures just fine. This is the season when he trains his dragons, the most. Pushing them to their limits.

Pryce: It’s in his title, and his type specialty.

Agatha: It’s the season for her to wear her old- furrcoats. They are perfect, to keep her warm and glamorous at the same time.

Riley: Sinnoh’s Winter lasts almost 6 months of the year, Riley doesn’t have much option there. But, this is also the season he uses in order to experiment on his body, what he can do with his powers- in terms of healing himself and whatnot.

Spring

Rowan: The busiest time of the year in his lab, not just because of young trainers showing up to receive their starters. But also because, he can finally resume his field work and head out throughout Sinnoh to check on the native species as well as to keep track of hordes from other regions’ species that show up in Sinnoh.

Palmer: When it comes to Winter in Sinnoh, you’re pretty much stuck to your house or work establishment. It lasts 6 months and it is extremely harsh. With Spring, he can actually catch a breath of fresh air for once.

Brendan: It’s his favorite time of the year to take pictures of nature!

Barry: Same thing as Palmer.

Around this time period, she had developped an immense curiosity about herself- her body. Since the golf competitions she was in, only had girls participating - she had plenty of options for her at the time.

Her first kiss and first time with a woman, holds no significance to her. If anything, she really doesn’t look fondly back at them simply because of how awkward the whole thing was, due hers and her partner’s ignorance.

This is just how things are for Kahili, she doesn’t hold any emotional attachment when it comes to her flings- anyone she has slept with.
