as we bring this year to a close I thought i'd start something new.
"Zynside The Numbers" a daily numerology series where I get inside the numbers and see what we can expect today.
today's word: change the theme: acceptance
so as we accept the change from 2024 to 2025, let's also accept the physical/metaphorical changes we've had this year and dream of a change that brings us more of what we loved this year.
change doesn't have to be bad, it just has to be.
don't judge change, detach and accept.
its easier. and freeing. and that freedom lets you create a life you actually want, built on the things you can keep.
focus on your foundation when you're worrying about security or the future, remember that you are the only constant. so be that.
thanks again for reading and follow me @zynnovation on IG if you like numerology and wanna hear some unique perspectives

It's been 10 years and I still think of how they set Macklemore up with that Grammy win that year. The Heist was a good ass project and I'm running it back rn but putting that white man against Jay Z, Kanye, Drake, and Kendrick wasn't even fair.
Literally had him competing against Magna Carta Holy Grail (which is already unfair I mean look at the fucking tracklist lmao), Yeezus, Nothing Was The Same, AND good kid, m.A.A.d city.
It was stacked as hell I wouldn't even want the Grammy but I do wonder how things would've been different if they didn't give him the Grammy and throw him into the culture vulture category when The Heist is a fire ass storytelling album confronting themes like addiction, sobriety and alcoholism, poverty, inclusion, all kinda shit and each song is immersive like Ryan Lewis was in the studio with Macklemore going CRAZY on the horns, those background vocals, the beat selection itself is crazy idk how his mind even decided on some of those sounds or knew how to build the worlds he did with them. Ima always love the use of live instruments but pair that with someone tryna to chase their purpose to literally save their life, ima always be a fan.
If we ignore the existence of Thrift Shop, it's a no skip project ๐ญ

(not so) fun fact? I was irritated in these because they're studio pics and yall... this song I'm working on is stressing me out. It's giving me the complete artist's experience though. Releasing control, being in flow and doing complete rewrites while trying to figure out new melodies, and cadences, and drawing on the correct emotions so the feeling comes through in the song while not 100% resonating with the song in those moments. It's interesting. I don't hate it or anything, it's just my first R&B song and I'm working with a team and teams have opinions you know? And I'm an artist so I'm sensitive about my sh-t ๐ But the process is forcing me to grow and that's how I know God is involved. I be going in the studio like "I wanna rap" and my producer/engineer/whatever be like "no finish this song" like damn I can't warm up? no quick freestyle? just straight to it? real disciplined around here. But I do get it and respect it. I just never imagined having to "follow orders"

But Is It About You?
I was looking at a selfie just now and had the thought "I don't like it" I was about to start critiquing it when the response "but is it about you?" came. It's a beautiful thought to meditate on. The idea that what we create, what we do, it may not be for us. It may not be for our own gratification. Sometimes we can't see things clearly or we don't have the necessary perspective to see things clearly. Basically, we're not always right. It's the reason why the song an artist likes the least is the one that blows them into stardom. Sometimes we're too close. And sometimes we're just flat out wrong. But if we're willing to ride out being wrong or at least willing to see if we are wrong, we'll likely be surprised with what we discover. Opening your mind to new perspectives allows you the ability to experience other parts of the world through someone else's lens. And everyone's lens is shaped by their own unique experiences in this life. Their culture, their environment, their upbringing, their gender, their identity. Opening yourself up to the idea that you may not know best allows you the chance to experience a new part of yourself expressed through a new reality that likely wouldn't be explored if it wasn't through those suggestions, pushbacks, critiques, whatever. So, allow people to bring you into their world, you never know what position they might hold. That is to say, you never know what they know. You never know who they know that taught them what they know. Don't lean too hard on your own understanding. We're all fools after all.

Changing for people is so lame. Shrinking yourself, altering parts of you to keep them happy, suppressing your voice to keep the peace, none of that is in the self love/self preservation manual.

Leo season says to have the courage to not just pursue your dreams but to protect them as well. Take pride in who you are and what you love and be willing to let that passion burn down anything that gets in the way
