In honor of the QT merch drop I want to share another patch I made because I love these books more than I can handle.
Hamiathes’s Gift the way I imagined it with the help of a geology degree and the letters on the third(?) edition of The Thief.

I cackled.
I saw that @meganwhalenturner enjoyed the blackout poetry someone made of another author's work, so naturally I had to try my hand at a passage from one of her books.
(thanks to the discord server for helping me choose a passage, this is what I get for complaining that it's hard to chop up beautiful prose).

Lark’s buckler based on the Sunshield cover. I drew over the golden buckler, digitized the image as an embroidery file, and then made this! In the books Lark’s buckler is silver, but I like the gold for the sun shining off of it. Highlights and lowlights are sunny motif stitch patterns.

Eddis's fancy battle outfit Dress inspired by art by @emilybeemartin inspired by my favorite books by @meganwhalenturner.
I've never been good at fan art or writing, but I've found sewing to be my preferred way of showing love for others' work, people, and place.
I've included Hamiathes's Gift in this. I found the rock in a stream and the cord at a used craft store. The gods haven't blessed this one but it still feels like magic.
(Please ignore the weird doors, I live in a converted barn and the walls are a little weird.)

another story of violence against women and the women that are silent
While I’ve been in graduate school I’ve lived through some weird stuff, mostly the pandemic. The first summer of grad school I was followed to my house by a man who threatened my life. That event was traumatic. because of course it was. I struggled to work for a week and I was scared to leave my house in case that man was there, waiting to show me what he could do to me just like he promised.
I informed my lab manager and lab mate because I was supposed to meet with them that day. The lab manager told the advisor who later extracted the story from me and responded, “well you know Morgan, sometimes these things happen and we just need to move forward”.
That was not the first time a strange man threatened me in that town. It wasn’t the first time a woman refused to give me any sympathy for violence against me. It was the first time I really realized my advisor didn’t care about me.
anyway I have edits due tonight and just looking at my manuscript makes my body think it needs to throw up so I'm going to bed

untitled 1
i have seen the ebb and flow of the seasons
i have seen the river rise
i have seen the love between two people like
i have seen the end of time
so what is it that i do now
as i die in the plains
i waste my precious time
that i could spend between the pines
i was never built for this inscrutable life
i know it since my palms touched the rivanna
so why do i die here
i die here because I dug a hole
i dug a hole that would fit my ego
i thought I could be with the best of them
i was wrong.
i was made to be between the pines
i was born to swim in the rivers
i was shaped to share those wonders
but i die in the plains
