Evaluation
In this project, I have semi-completed a mental health app ui design that is aimed at men's that are going through tough times. Unfortunately, due to lack of time I didn’t finish off the whole project. I was on track in the begging in of the project, but I unfortunately went off track as because I worked hard in the beginning, outburnt myself and caused me to lose motivation to carry on, therefore I was late to the deadline due date. I had to make some changes to my project plan, so instead of making a fully prototyped website and mobile app, I would make the main pages only so I can have more time to work on them.
I wrote the brief that I did because after researching into health I realized that a lot of men were going through it and not talking about it to anyone else which can really cause them to have a severe mental illness / disorder. This has influenced my project as because me personally I have gone through some tough time during the last 2 years of my life, I always felt like I shouldn’t as a man tell others about it as I thought I shouldn’t let others worry about what I am going through when they have nothing to do with it. I thought that everyone already had other stuff going on in their lives so me telling them about mine will make them probably even worse or even think about me in a different way.
My target audience are men because after researching into mental health, it showed that the gender that had the mental health and didn’t speak out about it were men's. I feel like my work appeals to them as my app was designed way different than any other mental health app, I focused on making the design masculine and less feminine/childish. I felt like almost every mental health app had this friendly, feminine, childlike design to them which made men fell less of themselves using them.
While researching into this topic, I asked the males that are in my class separately if they will ever speak out or seek help and almost every answer was no. Most said no because they think ‘as a man they should just get over it and carry on’ and, they felt like the apps made them feel victimized due to the language that they use and the actual design of the app. For primary research I looked at sergey panins work and Anatoliy Tsybulskiy.
One of the problems that it occurred was time management. My time management was bad due to me working on multiple things at the same time and doing multiple client work while working on the FMP. I fixed this by researching and watching videos about time management. I started using an app that gives me the ability to make to do lists, journal my day and Calander.
The direction of work has changed as I changed the colour scheme of the design and the style of the design. Before, the design was more friendly, had bright colours and a lot of roundness's to it. This has changed because I wanted something that feels less playful and more masculine and angular, so I decided to go with a serif font and a black and white colour scheme.
If I had more time, I would have finished off the ui design, prototyped it and made a promo for the app to be projected on some buildings.
To me, I didn’t achieve what I wanted to because of the time. I feel My work shows the masculinity and style that I went with. Also, for the final presentation it went well, I got some feedback regarding the photography and was suggested to take my own pictures so I collabed with a local photographer that I have known for over 6 years. I am happy with my final design as it did achieve the look that I was going with.

Holford drive
unfortunately for the Holford drive project this is what all i got and made, my team was really inactive and barley did anything, i had to create the new branding, presentations, website and logo. This took a lot of time off my fmp which caused me to be late for the deadline. I chose the colours green and navy blue as they are filled with energy as green is an energetic friendly colour. I used Roboto mono as the the secondary font choice becasue it had a really clean look it that gives the design small details that makes it look all put together. The idea for the logo was to make 2 letters connected so it can represent community and unity.
