Some Detective Conan: Movie 28 Predictions/Thoughts

Speaking of File 1134, I’m wondering if this story of Hiro and Ran meeting will get referenced in the movie 28. Ran and Komei were both just revealed to be main characters in it (they were also revealed consecutively) a bit before we go the synopsis reveal.

This situation reminds of Gosho dropping this panel (File: 1120)

before we got the kaishin cousin reveal in movie 27.

Also the “Nagano-Gunma Prefectural Border Murder” case (episode: 1123-1124) was broadcast not too long (May 2024) and in it Hiro (and his relationship with Komei) was the focus of the case.

It feels like Aoyoma is slowly trying to build on things. I don’t think it’s going to be a major part, but I can definitely see Ran and Komei having a small conversation about it in some way.

I always think about how when Ran first figured out Conan’s identity she immediately back-tracked because she saw him acting like a fool

She was definitely thinking “Shinichi wouldn’t be that pathetic, right?” (WRONG)

but funnily enough that didn’t stop her from immediately regaining her suspicion because we all know Shinichi can be very stupid sometimes.

I love how Shinichi made sure to apologize to Sato for shouting at her…

You can actually see him (shyly) look away for a brief second when she checked up on him, probably because he’d recalled when he lost his cool

It’s subtle but I love how you can tell how much they both RESPECT each other. Sato has consistently trusted Conan and even divulged confidential information to him, so her apology feels like an extended promise (and reminder to her self) to always believe him. Shinichi was obviously ashamed of his actions, but his apology also felt like a show of appreciation for Sato’s care towards him.

Why Doesn’t Detective Conan have Original Novels?

Every other major shounen I can think of does and there’s no way Gosho’s editors never pitched the idea to him. I know Gosho is busy with the manga and yearly movies (and I wouldn’t want him to overwork himself) but I doubt a novel once every now and then will hurt, especially considering he managed to supervise the Police Academy spin-off. There’s just so many interesting concepts, characters and stories that will never be properly explored in the manga and it feels like a waste to not have any.

Just imagine a LN about a younger Yukiko exploring her relationship with Yusaku, Sharon (Vermouth), Kuroba Toichi, Eri and even Kogoro. Or one about police officer Kogoro and his first case. An Akai Shuichi novel set after his cover was blown with tidbits of his time in the B.O and relationship with Akemi would be HUGE! Heck even a more casual/lighter one focusing on middle school Sera and the beginnings of her detective career would be great. Honestly, the possibilities are endless!

(also yes i’m aware of the 3 original novels we have but i don’t count it because it’s just another case, doesn’t add any new content or characterization, and the last one was released in 2008)
