were you waiting on me?
he asks, lying there shirtless, head resting against a pillow as though he’s just cozying up for a nap. no, not as though - he is about to take a nap. while she’s there. in his room. waiting on him.
“...was i waiting on you?...”, she starts off, voice low and fists curled up tight. wow. how can that much audacity be contained in one human being? “what the fuck do you think!? did you assume i was just casually taking a nap over there, in a stranger’s bed, with my panties halfway down my thighs? are you out of your mind?!”
her voice raises with each word; she takes firm steps towards the couch until she is towering over kou, her whole body shaking with anger. she's been used and betrayed by many people in her life, but this is a new low that she is not sure she can simply work through. at least, not without a lot more shouting first.
she's suddenly decided on making sure to give him a good reason for his migraine.
"is this how you treat every woman you bring back here? do you use them and discard them as you please? do you always treat them like toys that you can just leave behind when you're tired of playing with them? you're the worst! the actual worst!"
there are tears welling up in her eyes now. yulhee has never been above crying in front of others - and if she's being completely honest with herself, there's a part of her that wants kou to see just how much he's hurt her. maybe he'll apologize and try to make it better... would she accept it? she wants to say no, because that would be pathetic.
yes, of course she would accept it.
"i can't believe this... i thought you were a good guy..." she lets her words trail off. the tears are running down her cheeks now, and she shakes her head before suddenly storming off to the bedroom.
she begins collecting her things in a haze, but it's no use; she sits on the edge of the bed instead, and sobs. her heart aches in a way she's not used to, and it gets overwhelming quickly. yulhee doesn't know how to handle rejection, after all.
take two every four to six hours. rest to feel immediate effect.
simple enough. kou had taken two painkillers, his headache from the evening only getting worse with each sound that yulhee made. it's not as though he dislikes this ( sleeping with her ) – but his ears feel a little sensitive and truth be told, yulhee feels a lot louder than the average person he's ever been with. or the average person, period.
he hadn't really been in the mood either, so it's not too much of a kill either way. he takes a seat on the couch, and what was supposed to be simply five minutes of rest had turned into fifteen, and kou was now lying down, head resting on a pillow as he stared at the ceiling.
his migraine was subsiding now, the loud thumping in his head almost gone. maybe he could get some sleep after this. what about dinner? kou didn't usually like to skip dinner... but it felt as though he needed to. maybe some soup? and chicken? oh that sounded good. his mind wanders off, thinking about what to eat as he relaxes into the couch – that is of course until he hears a familiar voice.
oh right. sex.
he lifts his eyes and is greeted by the sight of yulhee looking... less than pleased with him. "uh," he blinks, still lying on the couch, shirtless. "it's important to rest when you have a migraine..." which is true. it's important to rest up – and he's sure jumping into something as rigorous as what he and yulhee would be up to, would've made the medicine less efficient. "were you waiting on me?"

yulhee isn’t used to being treated to things, as she’s often the richest person in the group. she takes the drink with a wide smile, making a mental note to herself that she should get yinuo back for that in any case. if not through ordering another drink or snack for her, then in some other way - perhaps a more elaborate birthday gift, or something of the sort. despite what it seems, it’s not out of competitiveness in the slightest; it’s a nod to the fact that she recognizes yinuo’s gesture and wants to do something nice for her in return as well. the two of them are little bundles of chaotic hot girl energy, sure, but it’s in the smallest of actions that yulhee finds her real friends along the way.
she bumps her peachy drink against the other’s and laughs again. she can’t really argue with yinuo’s logic. “ah~ i know what you mean~ this place is full of temptations~ and they’re all wearing short shorts and getting wet, how is it even allowed!?” there’s been a few that caught her attention the most, though in true yulhee fashion she gets too excited about spending time with her friends to really focus on hunting.
“hmm. okay but wait, i have an idea.” her drink stops halfway to her mouth and suddenly she’s almost jumping in place, buzzing with the prospect of having a little fun with yinuo again. “how about a bet? we’ll record each other doing the challenge, and whoever catches the most attention wins! or something like... the first one to get asked for her number... or something... ah, do you see where i’m going?” she’s almost talking over herself by this point as she gestures frantically with her hands.
“you can choose what the loser has to do, since you’ll probably be the one losing anyway~”, yulhee winks before they both go on their way to find water balloons they can use. “don’t worry, i’ll get the number of that girl with the bird tattoo for you~”
"you should wear it more often!" yinuo continues to gush, compliments flowing easily and genuinely as they were her native language. "i promise nothing but very respectful looks from me if you do," she punctuates the thought with a wink, clearly implying there may be a few disrespectful thoughts thrown in there as well. yulhee matches her energy though, yinuo easily turning as her friend guides her by the waist only to pop her booty out as she turns it to the other woman. "you think?" yinuo grins, "i've been working out lately, tell me how good my butt looks so i'll keep it up."
of course yulhee is full of only the best ideas. it's why yinuo adores going to these sorts of events with her; they play off of each others' energy well. a little sexy and a lot of fun. "oh, wait, you're brilliant," she scans around for the water balloons, trying to plan out their next path after getting something to drink. "do you think i'm hot enough to go viral? oh, i should ask about luck instead. i know i'm hot." she grins, and it's their turn in line. yinuo steps up to order herself a citrus cider before turning to yulhee for her order. "my treat," she assures the other.
she's only just taking her drink in hand as yulhee takes the opportunity to tease her about her wandering eyes. yinuo, for all of her confidence, can't help but blush bright red. "stoppp," she complains, though she has to laugh through the embarrassment anyway. "i'm just looking! there's so many pretty girls here how can i decide to only talk to just one? and, plus, i deserved to be chased after, not be the one doing the chasing!" she holds up her drink, inviting yulhee to touch their cans together in a sort of makeshift cheers. "but let's see how much attention we get for our water balloon reels. you have to do one too, by the way."

yulhee has been to every day of the waterbomb festival in seoul, yet she keeps finding new and exciting things to do.
this time she’s with yinuo, and it proves to be an entirely new experience. whereas before she was the one tugging her friends along and reminding everyone they’re supposed to be looking wet and hot at the same time, now she feels as though she has a partner in crime that can truly enjoy all that the festival has to offer with her. “i know, right~? i waited all summer to wear this, and it’s soooo worth the wait. but hey, look at you in those shorts, who knew you were packing so much, huh~?” yulhee turns her friend around by the waist lightly, and laughs as a nearby water gun sprinkles them with water at the right time. it’s what they’re there for, anyway.
but it’s not enough, she can agree with yinuo on that. she’s too hyped up about the crowd to really pay attention to landmarks or anything of the short, though, so she just lets the other girl guide her to what seems to be a soda vendor. “yah, if that’s what you want i can just get a water balloon over there and pop it over your head. oh, maybe we can record that in slow motion~ it would be a fun reels for sure~ and you’d get soooo wet from it, isn’t that what you want, naughty girl~?”, she winks.
yulhee follows yinuo’s gaze as the woman with the bird tattoo walks past them, and she laughs to herself. “not really, but clearly there’s someone you want to see,” she nods with her head in the woman’s direction, her eyes narrowed with a devilish gleam. “that’s what we should be planning for instead. c’mon, you want to talk to her, don’t you?” yulhee motions to leave the line they’d been waiting on, in order to follow after the other. “oh, or perhaps there’s someone else that’s caught your attention, huh~? c’mon, i’ll be your wingwoman!”
HOT GIRL SUMMER.
@yulbe
it is the perfect day for waterbomb. yinuo had only spent about two hours on her outfit only to end up wearing pretty much what every other girl was wearing; swimsuit top, shorts, and a light coverup for when the confidence just wasn't hitting right. it doesn't stop her from absolutely gushing over her friend's outfit though, even if yulhee didn't exactly break the status quo either. "you're so hot!" yinuo squeals, pure excitement lighting up her face. "your tits look so good in that top, i'm not even kidding."
"c'mon, let's get something to drink. i'm dying out here and i'm not nearly wet enough to cool off," she grabs onto the other girl's arm excitedly, taking the lead despite having no idea where she's going. yinuo isn't exactly the best navigator to begin with and she certainly didn't memorize the map or anything beforehand. how hard can it be anyway? she manages to find a stand with sodas on display and gets in line before anyone else can sneak in before them. "would it be a waste if i bought a bottle of water just to dump it on my head?" she asks her friend with a grin. she won't actually do that. probably.
they've only just arrived and yinuo is already having fun, even if the heat is killing her slowly. it's the energy of the place, the music thump thump thumping in the background, and, frankly, the many attractive women walking around half-dressed to beat the heat. yinuo can't help but stop and stare as a woman she's never seen before with the prettiest bird tattoo on her shoulder walks by them. i'm so gay, she reminds herself for only the hundredth time. "oh, but was there someone in particular you wanted to see?" she turns back to her friend as the thought flits through her head. "we should make a plan, right?"

yulhee can’t help but let the dramatic reenactment fluff her ego some more. being called queen has always made her smile, even if she’s usually the one demanding the honorific. when it reaches her ears unprompted, though? heaven. that’s what it feels like. “aah~ i suppose i can spare the life of a loyal follower such as yourself~”, she giggles, decidedly ignoring how some of her other friends in the group roll their eyes at her antics. sooyoung seems all too eager to play it up for her favors, and that’s all she cares about.
she also doesn’t miss the sudden rosy tint flaring up on sooyoung’s cheeks, and yulhee has to hold herself back from kissing her some more - if only because they do need to figure out what they’re doing next. the makeout session can wait until they have their plans aligned. still, she leans in a little too into her when the other pulls her hand up to her chest, and stares a little too intently at sooyoung’s lips from so up close. “i can help with that. open up~”, she raises her free hand that is still holding the water gun and raises her eyebrows suggestively.
“we can go get some actual drinks first”, she nods once she’s satisfied, pulling away from sooyoung though keeping their fingers intertwined. “i’m in the mood for something sweet~ and then we should go find a nice spot to wait for the next act. if we stay too far behind, we might not even be in line of sight for the big sprayers up there,” she says as if it’s simply inconceivable that she would not get wet today. yulhee then turns to the other once more, her eyes twinkling. “do you want something to eat, too? my treat~ maybe we can even get matching cup sleeves too before the next show~”
festival season is always sooyoung's favorite; there's the charged energy in the air, the happy, carefree people, the music, (over-expensive) food, and usually, some pretty good company with her. it's been a while since yulhee and sooyoung really got together, and sooyoung is quickly reminded just why yul is one of her favorite people to do things like this with- pda aside (that she really should be used to by now, honestly).
when she does find yulhee, there's the butterflies raging in her stomach from her hug, the quirk of intrigue that rises at their quick, slightly too friendly peck , and sooyoung worries that maybe her hands are going to be a little clammy as yulhee's finds hers to drag her along with her too. it's normal, and that in itself is more comfortable than anything.
the friends that yulhee introduces seem fun enough, and she misses nearly everyone's name as she fumbles under yulhee's gaze, keenly aware of the warmth it stirs. "oh yul nooooo i-" sooyoung starts to protest at mention that she's not 'wet enough', before remembering that this is yulhee, and yulhee always gets her way when it's between the two of them, and she sighs, raising her hands in surrender as yulhee demands the dance challenge.
"you have to show me first," she whines, tugging at yulhee and pouting "kim yulhee, princess, queen, please spare me!" she begs, though she can't fight the grin thanks to yulhee's own infectious enthusiasm. yulhee's lips find her cheek and suddenly sooyoung isn't sure if it's the warmth of the summer sun or the blush that has her cheeks so red, and she's not sure she can think straight either. "i will dance for you, but..." she holds a hand to her forehead dramatically, using the other to hold yulhee's hand to her chest, "i thirst. i must have refreshments."

yulhee crosses her arms and feigns offense as joomi starts to answer her interrogation. “you better be sorry,” she exaggerates her reaction to hopefully make it clear she’s joking. err, half joking. “that’s no way to treat a lady. you’re lucky you’re cute and that keeps me coming back.”
her shoe is back to tapping against the floor, cheerfully this time. “lots of muses? tch, you’re such a player. still, i’ll bet i’m the cutest. and to prove that, you should write me another song. or! let me sing one of your songs. like, professionally or whatever. i can pull off some rock music!” she can’t. she really, really can’t. though it would be hilarious to see.
she has the decency to drop the act quickly though, and instead she takes a long look at the menu, fighting off the urge to just order three desserts for dinner. she then sighs dramatically as she picks up the conversation again. “hmm, but isn’t that lonely?” and there it is. those rare moments of insight that make her friendship actually worthwhile. well, that and all the free dinners. ”to go through stuff alone? you know you don’t have to. i’m more than just a pretty face, jung joomi.” she flips her hair and giggles, then shifts gears to a more serious tone again, staring at him in what she hopes is a comforting manner - as though she can see him truly, through all the barries he puts up. or something to that effect. “you can count on me to help you out no matter what. especially now that i moved back here. you’re not getting rid of me that easily.”
she pauses for a moment and her expression softens; her eyebrows raise slightly, and her smile is encouraging. “wanna tell me what’s going on?” and it’s okay if he doesn’t, it honestly is.
joomi hasn't seen yulhee in far too long. in his defense, he's been a bit...reserved lately. with everyone. in retrospect it's a little embarrassing. a man stops paying attention to him for a few months and he no longer has his two best friends on standby at any moment's notice and he loses his mind? really?
he's trying to be kind to himself, though, and he's trying to enjoy things being better now, too. in some ways, they're better than ever, really. hopefully, next time he's in a rut, he can use this all as an example of the temporal nature of suffering. sure, happiness is temporary too, but - that's a train of thought for another day.
the fact that yulhee sent a whole ass driver for him is a lot, because he can drive his normal car that is very sufficient, but he knows better by now than to try to argue with yulhee over things that are ultimately inconsequential.
instead, he tries to enjoy the solitude, knowing that it will very soon be anything but quiet.
and yet somehow witnessing yulhee's exuberance in person catches him off guard. she hugs him, and he wraps his arms around her in turn. "hi," he chuckles, then just blinks at the bombardment of questions. "everything was good," he says simply. hopefully that suffices. he'd much rather talk about other things.
and the next subject of discussion is why he's been ignoring her. of course it is. at least she doesn't look legitimately mad, even as she goes on and on...he feels a little bad. "i was ignoring everyone," he tries to assure her, but figures that's actually...not reassuring. it's the truth, though. "i was...going through some things. i'm sorry." he wishes he could say it won't happen again, he hates to make promises he isn't sure he can keep.
did you find another muse to write songs for? she asks, and joomi can't help but laugh at that. "i have lots of muses," he returns, with a cheeky, albeit small, smile. that's honestly not wrong. he writes about all kinds of things - all kinds of people. of course, there is one particular person who's inspired more songs than anyone else. he isn't sure he's ready to share that information with yulhee, though.

something is wrong.
she can tell by the way he seems to almost hesitate between positions; by the way his eyebrows furrow slightly every so often, despite their lips locking together for a long stretch of time. he doesn’t voice any complains though, and he seems eager to undress her all the same, so she tries to shake those feelings off and get immersed again in it. she looks up at him and does her best to let him hear how it feels good. her nails drag along his back underneath the fabric of his shirt, and her thighs move up and around to press against his hips, subtly telling him she wants him closer.
it’s no use. before she can fully process it, he’s pulling away. and his face... it almost looks... annoyed? which is impossible, of course. there is no way he isn’t entirely mystified by her... right?
and then, there it is. the reason why he seemed a little out of it. she can understand that, surely; she’s tried having sex while fending off a headache before, and her body was not happy with that decision. “oh... okay”, she nods slowly, propping up on the bed by the elbows. yulhee watches as he leaves the room, and then sighs.
some time passes, and she’s unsure of what to do. she sits up and fixes the dress hanging loosely from her body, checks her reflection on her phone’s camera, even laughs at a funny video or two... until she finally admits to herself that too much time has passed. there is no sound coming from the other room and she begins to worry something might be wrong.
quietly, she tiptoes towards the door and out of the bedroom. maybe he needed a longer bathroom break? or perhaps he was out of meds and had to step out to get some more, and simply forgot to tell her? he did seem a bit aloof...
as all the silliest explanations cross her mind, she reaches the living room. and then...
“... what are you doing?”
migraine backdated ( with @yulbe )
kou is no stranger to casual hook-ups, though he isn't exactly the type to do it often. still, when he finds someone attractive, someone interesting, he does allow himself to be pulled in by their energy. it's exactly how he's found himself in this situation.
yulhee is nice, if anything she's sweet as well ( though she does talk quite a bit, something that kou himself doesn't practice. he's used to being the listener instead. a man of very little words ). and it helps that she's really pretty. pretty enough to have kou interested in a casual night together.
they lay in the bed, kou's hands roaming her body, fingers slipping underneath her clothes, skilfully reaching out to touch bare skin. his eyes go from her lips to her neck, and he leans in to suck on it gently. it's going good, really good – and as his fingers glide underneath her skirt, he hears the most mind blowing-ly loud... noise? from her? from yulhee?
alright. okay. cool.
maybe she likes it. that's cool. he pauses for a moment, before continuing, pressing a finger against her – great. another noise. fuck it, he'll just drown her out by sticking his tongue down her throat. which helps for a good minute or so, before he realizes that they can't exactly do much in this position. and so he pulls her down, closer towards him so that their chests are touching, before tearing their lips apart to breathe.
a man of not many words, kou begins to nip at her neck once more, hands playing with her chest flicking her – seriously? she's loud. she's so loud. and kou had already been fighting a migraine the whole day. this though, this doesn't help.
abruptly, he pulls away from her, and stands up, clad in only his boxers and a white tshirt. "i have a migraine," he announces, "i'm going to take some medicine first." and with that, he turns to the living room, in search of his pills.

“but isn’t that what makes it so fun~?”, yulhee chirps loudly, extending both arms wide open and twirling around in the open space in front of them. they’re far away from the main stage still, but she can already feel the energy from the crowd and it fuels her with newfound courage.
(not that she needs it, though).
“this is your opportunity to let loose, han yuwol! to forget all about family issues and rejections, and to have fun. when was the last time you had fun, anyway?” while she isn’t privy to the exact details, she’s aware enough to pick up from context clues that yuwol’s relationship with his family is difficult. it was hard enough to convince him to leave the house, and the vague comments about not being able to stay out until night time made her worried. the concept of being restricted at home is entirely foreign to her, and perhaps this is why it’s so easy for her to say just have fun. she’s never had a reason not to, truly.
“i’m not letting you out of my sight, unless it’s because you’re too busy with someone else.” another comment that would be inconceivable for many people, but not for kim yulhee. “i didn’t go through all this trouble only to have you bail on me while i’m distracted with prizm.”
“besides, we still have to record your dance challenge,” she continues without missing a beat, as if that statement is simply the natural progression of life. “you did watch the reference videos i sent you, right? we need to please your fans, let them know you’re doing well after next gen and that you’re still hot and talented.” she winks at him, then stops and looks him up and down with one hand to the chin, seemingly deep in thought for a moment. “hm. yep. you definitely got the right material. all you need is to try and avoid look this bored, and your video will be a hit!”
he doesn’t know how he got here, really.
oddly enough, it felt like a blur—but that’s consistent with most of how yuwol spends his days, lately. he doesn’t really know what waterbomb is, nor was he actually interested to find out. but somehow, he’s here anyway, in what feels like minimal clothing than what he’s used to. after all, he’s much more comfortable with wearing several layers, especially when he’s wandering about outside. it’s summer though, and there’s no way he could get away with his usual attire to this festival. he’d probably suffer from heatstroke.
still, the biggest reason why he’s here is because of @yulbe, who was very convincing in her attempt to drag yuwol out of… what was essentially jail. it isn’t as hard now, mostly because he had been steadily sticking to the curfew that was set out for him and attending every demanding lesson. sure, his eyebags are darker and he doesn’t even know what rest means now, at least it’s getting relatively better.
“this is so strange…” he comments aloud, but he doesn’t mean to be judgmental. “sorry, i’ve just never really been to such a high energy… festival. not to this degree, anyway.” he hums, scanning the area slowly, simply studying his surroundings. what else can he do? join in on the fun?
“is there a performance you have to watch? you can go, i don’t mind. i’ll be fine on my own, i promise.” half a life. there’s a high likelihood yuwol will get lost, or be crushed by the crowd. whichever comes first. or he’d be the target of water guns, only because he doesn’t move around much.

♡ — make me ;
a dance challenge for the books with @besooyoung !
there’s the hug that lasts a second too long, the gaze that lingers on even after they’ve moved on to a new topic. and there’s the brief kiss, of course: to the lips, and with passion that far exceeds a simple greeting between two intimate people. yulhee has never shied away from public displays of affection - in fact, she will often demand them from her lovers - and she is forever thankful that sooyoung doesn’t seem to mind them either, even when they’re abrupt like now. eh, sooyoung is probably used to yulhee’s shamelessness after all these years anyway.
“there you are! finally~! it’s so crowded here, i thought i would never find you!”, she chirps as her hand finds sooyoung’s to hold. she makes quick work to introduce sooyoung to her other friends whom she’d been dragging along all day, before focusing her eyes solely on the other girl again. “you look so good. but not wet enough!” and i can help you with that, the wink that follows seems to suggest.
she gets a water gun from another guy in their little circle, and aims it at sooyoung’s forehead, laughing. “do the dance challenge with me right now, or this will be the end of you, moon sooyoung!” her spirits are high and she can’t stop smiling. she’s the type of person that feeds off of social energy, and the waterbomb event is an infinite source for her. her fingers squeeze sooyoung’s hand tighter, and she can’t help but lean in for a peck to the other’s cheek. “though now that i think about it, you’ll make me look like such a bad dancer. maybe i should just record you, instead? you do want to do the trend for your tiktok, right? you’re such a fan of those~”

♡ — don’t make me ;
in which words are carelessly spoken. a starter for @bejaeyoung, sometime right after next gen !
there’s something soothing about jay.
which is hilarious if you stop to think about it, since his energy is anything but calm, and he matches yulhee’s chaos almost perfectly. no, it’s not that he matches it; rather, they enhance one another. there is never a dull moment with him, and yet... she often finds herself at peace.
this time he is laying on her legs, sprawled over the bed with nothing but a thin sheet over his body. she caresses him with one hand as she scrolls absentmindedly on instagram with the other. her mind is hazy and her body aches slightly, like the burning sensation after an intense workout at the gym. and oh, it is a workout when they’re together.
a story from an ex shows up next in queue (because of course yulhee never unfollowed him), and she’s reminded of all the times he promised her the whole world only to then leave her with nothing. it’s partially her fault for believing in him so wholeheartedly, and she is aware of that and feels foolish for it. still, she can’t help but hate how he simply took her body and her love only to then vanish once he was done with her.
jay isn’t like that. jay isn’t there simply to use her, or at the very least, he is there so they can use one another in equal parts. and perhaps it won’t last long, perhaps she will be replaced as she always is, but at least for a little while longer she can pretend like he won’t leave and forget all about her. would it be wrong of her to say she wishes he would stay longer? yes, of course. though it’s not like yulhee cares all that much about right or wrong anyway.
“oh, yeah. snacks. i remembered to get something for you this time!” she opens a drawer on the nightstand and pulls out a pack of choco pies. “what i make is better than this, but at least... it’ll do, right?” she lets him have first pick, her fingers lazily threading through his hair.
“though you do need to let me bake you your favorite dessert next time. it’s the least i can do since you let me have so much fun with you every time.”

yejun is cute.
yulhee finds herself smiling as they walk together. he’s not her type, and she’s fairly certain she’s not his type either (which is wild to her, truthfully), but he’s still a very good looking young man that she’s more than happy to hang out with. he’s on the quieter side, which bothers her some, though on the other hand it makes for a great listener.
she happily goes on and on about another one of her stories from her time as a trainee - since that is basically a huge part of her personality at this point -, making sure to include all possible details on people yejun has never even heard of. her ego aside, it’s a way for yulhee to keep those memories alive, too; and a promise to herself that one day she’ll have new stories to tell rather than just live in the past.
it’s in the middle of one such story that she is interrupted, and at first she thinks nothing of it;  it’s only when yejun feels the need to clarify the request that yulhee actually gets suspicious. “not because of me, huh? right, that’s totally convincing.” she eyes him up and down with one eyebrow raised, her lips suddenly pursed together.
“sure, i do have some. here, you can have it--” she digs into the cat shaped backpack hanging from one shoulder and pulls out the medicine, as well as a strawberry milk carton should he want any liquid help swallowing it down. she holds the items in between them, and when yejun motions to grab them, she recoils and hums. “if”, a smirk tugs at her lips, “if you can say something nice about me. something real, not a vague ‘you’re friendly’ or anything like that. prove that you actually think i’m good in some way - any way - and you can have this!”
my head hurts.
@yulbe
yejun's not quite sure how he keeps ending up out with yulhee. she's a nice girl and all (if he's using the term generously at least) but their personalities are such a dramatic clash. yejun is quiet and reserved, he thinks before he speaks, and he's careful with his words and actions. yulhee is the opposite in every way: loud, outgoing, brash, impulsive... when he thinks about it like that, maybe she's not that nice of a girl after all.
she was yapping away about something that yejun was only half-pretending to pay attention to when he feels that tell-tale ache begind behind his right eye, crawling up his forehead until it takes root there and begins to bore its way in. he knows what will come next; the pulsing, the sensitivity to light and sound, the overwhelming urge to go home and crawl under his blankets and try to block out the world until the headache has passed. it's just his luck that he's out and about with possibly the worst person for him in this state.
"sorry to interrupt," he says, though he isn't really all that sorry. "do you have any aspirin on you? headache."
belatedly, yejun realizes how his words might be interpreted. "not because of you!" he clarifies quickly, "i just get migraines from time to time... the weather or something does it to me, not people. you're good. i just wanted to take some sort of painkiller to try to stop it before it really takes off."

♡ — bad habits ;
( cw: alcohol )
in which a mere acquaintance is tragically elected to get her home for the night. a starter for @noelxbe !
it’s the way her cheeks warm up and her movement is less precise as the night goes on that really encapsulate what it means for her to be out celebrating that night. celebrating what, exactly? who knows. her friend’s birthday, for one, but there’s always something more when it comes to yulhee. she is usually either throwing a party or a pity party, and thankfully it’s the former for now.
she lets it all out on the dancefloor, unusually unwilling to let anyone drag her to a dark corner of the club. she is just happy to be alive, and she wants to share it with the people around her. she buys drinks for everyone in their party group, acts as though they are all her best friends despite barely knowing them, and even gets in an argument with another girl hogging up the bathroom line. it’s definitely an eventful evening for her.
yulhee finds herself gravitating towards some particular people, and noel is one of them. it’s not the first time they’ve met as they have several friends in common, but they’re not exactly close, and she is determined to change that: she begs him to follow her on social media and tries to pull him along when the group moves from one spot to the other. admittedly, she also uses him as protection to keep others from hitting on her, and she makes a mental note to repay him for that when there isn’t so much tequila running through her blood system.
sometime during the night, the party decides it’s time to call it, and one by one all her friends depart. yulhee pushes to prolong the celebration as much as possible, until all but a handful of familiar faces surround her near the entrance to the club. she sits on the floor against a wall, singing poorly to whatever pop song is playing downstairs.
“ah... i can’t go home like this...”, she mumbles as her head rolls upwards and a little pout forms on her lips. “my legs are tired... my brain is tired...” yulhee then turns to stare at noel, blinking several times before the words finally come to her. “hey, you. will you go home with me? not in that way... i just don’t wanna be alone. just uber with me or something. i’ll pay for your ride home too. please?”
she then tries to stand on her feet, and comically starts falling face first.  lovely.

yejun agrees to the interview, and both the staff member and yulhee vibrate loudly in response.
she clings to yejun’s arm unashamedly. “thank you, thank you, oppa!”, she chirps as she readies herself for their questions. it’s as though she’s lived her entire life just for this moment.
yulhee takes the lead for most of the part, as one would expect out of her. her answers are vague enough that the interviewer is satisfied, probably due to how intensely she emphasizes what are the correct ways to court a lady in her opinion, and there’s very little room for yejun to intervene. it isn’t until the very last question that she is left speechless.
“you seem like you know exactly what you want - he had to follow your instruction manual to get you to date him, huh? tell us, young man, how was it like?”
the camera points directly at yejun and yulhee blushes faintly, mostly due to embarrassment. she was hoping to carry it out on her own without having yejun on the spotlight - as she assumed he wouldn’t be too pleased pretending to be a couple for a youtube skit. “ah, it’s not like that--”, she tries to think of a way to switch gears in the conversation, but the staff member stares at the man beside her, making it very clear he wants to hear somebody else’s voice even if for a few seconds.  now terrified that their little con has been unmasked, yulhee pulls softly at yejun’s shirt from the side. “go on, oppa, tell them~”, she encourages him, pleading silently with every fiber of her being. “we can ask them to cut this out of the final edit anyway, right?” she tiptoes to match his height then, and whispers in his ear. “i’ll owe you one!”
it's easy for him to stay silent in the presence of a much more talkative creature. in some ways, maybe, it's even comforting. the space between them is filled with nonstop chatter, yulhee babbling away without hardly as much as a breath in between different thoughts. it means that yejun doesn't have to think of anything to say in response. he listens for the most part, of course, because he's always been a polite young man (and he's pretty sure she'll quiz him on it later if she catches him off guard) but he makes no attempt to interject his own thoughts.
maybe his mind does wander a little bit. maybe he gets caught up in window shopping, absently raking his eyes over various bits and bobs in the displays they walk by. maybe that's how yulhee pulls ahead without him noticing until he realizes that the world is a little quieter than it was a moment ago. it's only for a moment though; yulhee is back in a flash, pulling on his arm and chastising him for leaving her (even if he hadn't even truly been out of eyesight, just not glued to her side like she probably wanted).
"we're the same age," he reminds her, perhaps a little uncomfortable with being called 'oppa' when there's really no reason for her to be speaking to him that way. he supposes that some men probably find it cute. yejun just finds it awkward.
he's at the mercy of yulhee's whims when suddenly they're accosted by two men and a camera. at first, yejun braces himself for some dumb tiktok prankster or something equally miserable. but it's not that, it's some sort of interview, and while he's never heard of nemo's dream before in his life, yulhee seems familiar with it. it's not often that he feels like he can trust her, but he'll give it a shot this once.
"we're not..." he tries to clarify that they're not a couple, but yulhee shatters that illusion by calling him oppa yet again. he sighs, giving into the reality of his situation for now, and acquiesces. "it's not like we have anything else to do," he concedes; it was a walk that he hadn't even agreed to, technically. "what's this going on?" he asks the cameraman, perhaps a little suspicious about his likeness being used. you can never be too sure these days.

♡ — nemo’s dream solo ;
in which yulhee makes the interviewer regret ever getting out of bed that day.
“how would you ask someone that you’re seeing to be your boyfriend?”
she’s still fixing her hair when the camera turns on and the nemo’s dream staff member blurts out the question. yulhee blinks with the sudden start, but it only takes a moment before her heart is overtaken by emotion. always a romantic, her eyes well up as the memories of the only serious relationship she’s had flood in, and she gives her head a little shake to disguise it.
“ehh, well, with a big showcase, of course!”, she states as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world, both hands moving around in big gestures. “last time i was asked, it was big. huuuuuge! it involved a treasure hunt and everything. it was the most romantic thing in the world!”
“woah, a treasure hunt, really? that person must have put so much effort into it!”
there’s a hint of loneliness somewhere deep within her as she’s reminded of her ex, though she can easily switch the angle of the comment away from her personal experiences. “well, of course! that’s what you’re supposed to do, isn’t it? go above and beyond for the person you’re choosing to be in a relationship with?” yulhee stomps and pouts. she is genuinely upset at the thought of hypothetical people not making a big show out of it, and she gets carried away with it too. “a~ah, i hate it when people don’t take this stuff seriously. i mean, are you honestly even thinking about it properly if you can’t surprise your significant other with a thoughtful gift or a trip to a special location? you can’t just ask people out of nowhere! it can’t be as easy as asking what the weather is going to be like over the weekend!”
she is barely able to hold herself back from yanking the microphone out of the interviewer’s hand. the man probably had more questions to ask, but yulhee doesn’t give him a chance to intervene; she goes on for a while, passionately citing all the terrible proposals she’s read about in her novels, until the staff team decides to cut their losses and bow as they turn on their heels.
“h-hey, wait up! you can’t just leave me here, i was in the middle of my story!”, she dashes after them. “hey, hey! am i going to be in the next episode at least? yah!”

“yeah!”, she exclaims loudly before opening one of the bags for yuwol to see. “i bought new skirts, because i am my own special occasion.” she giggles, though she is very serious about it. “i bought some gifts too, though. i don’t have a partner, so i’ll just bother my friends with matching sweaters instead. a~ah, would you wear one with your noona, han yuwol? or matching rings instead! that’s how famous people get away with their secret relationships, right? i always see that on dispatch!”
yulhee’s smile widens as he accepts her invitation. the prospect of getting sugar in her blood system makes her giddy, and she nearly skips along with him as they stroll down the street towards the ice cream shop. “huh, i can imagine. you guys all have very different schedules, right? but i’m sure it’ll be much easier now that next gen is over~ how are you feeling about that, by the way? if you want to share, of course - but i watched every episode and i was really, really rooting for you!” she was cheering on other people more than yuwol, but of course he doesn’t need to know that. “i’ve missed out on a bunch of contract opportunities, too, but that’s okay. our time will come!
they finally arrive at the right place, and yulhee struts right in to find a good seat. “there are so many flavors! ah, feel free to go crazy and get as much as you want. my treat!” and with that, she leaves all the bags behind on their table and sprints towards the ice cream display, her eyes sparkling. she really does love her sweets. “oh, oh! there’s a special deal for couples!” and with that, she nonchalantly links her arm with yuwol’s and pulls him along to the counter, playing up the cuteness so they would pass as a couple. without consulting yuwol first, because she doesn’t really see the harm in it. “see? we can get two scoops each and that cute little key chain! ah, it’s so cute! won’t you get the deal with me so i can have it, pleeease? your noona needs it!”
yuwol doesn’t really feel like sticking around in such a lively environment. he’d gotten everything he needed the last time he was roaming around ( he was cutting it close to his forced curfew, too ). while he’s out and about earlier than last time, he doesn’t think his rather… gloomy disposition would make him a natural part of the crowd. other than the fact he doesn’t need discounts in the first place, and the last time he was here he was almost scammed until he was saved by his bandmate.
it just doesn’t feel like his place to be, even more so with all the couples walking around because of the interview topic. was it for a youtube channel? yuwol doesn’t know the details, wasn’t even trying to find out either. but it’s something along those lines, and yuwol doesn’t think his views of romance in general is conventional enough to be heard by the masses. nor does he have good experience to share.
he’s eager to stride towards the end of the street, avoid the camera crew so he doesn’t have to talk and show his face to a larger audience again. especially after the events of next gen, which his parents never approved of. he finds himself obstructed by another figure standing before him though, and he blinks, until his brain matches a name to a face. and also because he usually remembers people with a louder personality like yulhee’s.
“i didn’t really get anything this time,” he answers her questions one-by-one. patiently. “ah… i haven’t actually considered getting anyone a proper gift from here. there’s no special occasion for that.” but there doesn’t need to be, so his answer is null. “is that what you’re doing here?”
she’s quick to invite him to something though, and despite his general lack of social skills and energy it’s been a while since he actually spent time with another human being ( once again, due to his curfew ). “okay,” he smiles—never one to talk a lot. “ice cream would be nice, sure.” no reason to refuse. “it’s been hard finding time for band practice lately, actually,” he shares for no reason at all.
