DIY applying of nano ceramic coating
Recent years showed great improvement in surface care protection technology, resulting in nano ceramic coating being more and more used for protection of car’s factory paint. Nano coating is better at paint protection that traditional car waxes, car polishes or car sealants, as well as being long term alternative for those. Due to technology ceramic coatings are based on and from what, they are very long lasting, have self-cleaning and hydrophobic features, advanced UV protection, all while giving extreme gloss finish for car’s paint.
Nano ceramic coating can be either be applied by skilled professionals at car detailing shop or by car owners themselves using DIY kits. It is not that hard process, but requires big attention to details so coating can provide its features. First step for those opting for DIY kits is rinsing car’s paintwork. This needs to be than thoroughly and all contaminants like dirt, dust sand and rest should be removed from the surface. Best way to do this is traditional car wash with car soap and water bucket. Next step is chemical decontaminationdone with a good bug and tar remover together with iron fillings-based product so all harmful iron deposits are removed. Following is phase 2 deconatmination with clay bar and clay bar lubricant. Phase 2 is reserved for removal of any remaining contaminants which could have stayed embedded in car’s clear coat. Paint of the car should be as perfect as it could be since nano coating will seal in any remaining defects on the paint surface. To do so, car should be polished which will remove any small swirls and light scratches. Additional benefit of this step is glossier finish. If paint has deeper scratches and visible swirl marks, machine compound is used to eliminate said marks. Last step before applying ceramic coating is isopropyl alcohol wipe. Any residual polishing oils should be removed by spraying an isopropyl alcohol mix on the surface and wiping it with a micro fiber towel. This step is important to ensure perfect bonding of nano ceramic coating to the surface. After all this comes applying the nano ceramic coating. DIY coating kits usually come with applicator and a quality micro fiber towel. The bottle with coating needs to be shaken well before put on the applicator. For best results, coating should be applied on 2x2 sections using left to right and up and down motions. After 20 to 30 seconds product will flash meaning it is ready to be removed with micro fiber towel. Once the whole surface is coated, car needs to be kept in a cool dry environment for at least 24 hours. For that time the paint will be cured.
To have full potential of paint protection coating and for it to last as long as possible, proper and regular maintenance is necessary. Coating does reduce frequency of washings needed but does not mean it should be left for months without cleaning. Also every 2 to 3 months coating should be sprayed with silica spray to maintain its features.

Glass coating
Glass coating has been around for some time, but only recently had increase in interest by both auto detailers and car enthusiasts. Glass coating can also be found by other names like liquid glass, nano-glass, ceramic glass, and quartz coating. There area two basic types of glass coating, one made from quartz silane and other from silica, usually silicon dioxide. Ones made from quartz silane are more expensive due to being very durable and provide extra shiny finish. Both of them form hard, durable semi-permanent shield once applied on the car’s paint. Some of the glass coating products can also be applied on glass and wheels and not only on paint, but there are some that are only for glass like Detailer’s Pro Glass Coating, or like Aladdin’s Double Shield only for glass.
Once applied, glass coating becomes protective paint coating. It provides paint protection from scratches, oxidation, dirt, dust, acid rain, road debris and so on. Besides protection coating will give the paint new high gloss, mirror-like look. Glass coating, and other types of coating, have gotten popular a lot because they shield the paint from the UV rays which cause ever growing problems. Another benefit of coating is repelling water and dirt, resulting in easier car cleaning. Durability of glass coating is usually around 2 years, but some newer products are showing longer life span with right treatment and maintenance. This type of coating also eliminates the need to the wax the paint once the car is coated, though some products and car detailers will advice on applying car wax or car sealant on to for extra shiny layer. Looking at this, glass coating is definitely worth getting. For a bit more time, money and effort, car owners will be safer for longer period that they would be with maybe waxes wearing off after shorter time.
To apply a glass coating, car’s surface needs to undergo some diligent preparation. Surface needs to be completely free from dirt, dust and rest of contaminants, swirls and scratches, since if not they will get stuck between surface and added layer. So, due to this, part of the surface getting coated should be washed with car wash soap and then dried very well. Some detailers prefer steam cleaning over traditional one. Once the surface is free from everything and smooth, abrasive polishing compound should be used for getting rid of paint swirls and scratches. After this comes applying of the glass coating. There is two ways to do this. First one is taking car to the car detailing shop and leaving it there for few days to be coated. Other way is doing by yourself, using DIY kits. In case of DIY kits, they come with micro fiver towel and applicators. It is advised to do smaller pieces of surface one by one since products hardens as soon as it comes into contact with air. In the end, with micro fiber towel, the surface should be buffed and then left for minimum 24 hours.

How to clean a car
Cleaning a car can include cleaning body and wheels or cleaning both the interior and exterior. To clean a car specially formulated cleaners for specific parts should be used, all while the car is in the shade and it is not hot outside. Also, it can take some time, usually from 20 to 30 minutes if not going to much into details. To save time, but spend money, car can be sent to the car wash or for a car grooming.
First step of cleaning a car is taking car away from the sun, since hot weather and heat can result in soap and water stains. Next comes preparing supplies, buckets, cleaners, sponges, vacuum cleaner and so on. Soap used for washing needs to be car wash soap as dish detergents or hand soaps can remove car wax, car polish and even car paint protection films if they are too strong. Body of the car should first be rinsed so loose dirt and debris are cleaned, as well as any leaves, twigs ad grime. It is best to clean from the top of the car down to the bottom. Each part should be rinsed after cleaned with soap. When scrubbing the car, motions should not be circular nor too much hard so it does not result in swirl marks and scratches. To prevent debris spreading and scratching the surface, sponge needs to be rinsed after each use or well before each use. Drying of the car is better to do with towel or a chamois, because if it is left to air dry, watermarks and streaking will appear. The wheels are cleaned with water, sponge and soft cloth. After washing the body and wheels, car should be polished and waxed. This is done to protect the surface while giving it new bright gloss. Products used for this step are various types of car polish and car wax, sometimes coming one together with other. Both of them need time to dry, after which car can be buffed so there are not bumps on the surface.
After cleaning of the body of the car, comes inside. Simple vacuuming from floor mats to the top of the dash and air vents grills will do the job. If there are any carpet stains, they can be removed with carpet cleaner, while fabric stains are cleaned by spraying a foam cleanser. Glass cleaner will do the great job of cleaning the windows. To collect dust and grime that may have spread while cleaning other parts, vacuuming again when everything is done is good idea.
What is important when cleaning a car is using the right cleaners and tools, as well as reading the instruction and knowing how to use them properly. This will lower the changes of damages appearing, such as soap and water stains, scratches, removal of wax or polish, and so on. Some will say that car is like a family member, in needs attention and to be taken care of.

Employment agency
Employment agency represents an organization which helps employers find employees. In most countries, there is a publicly funded employment agency and a few types of private recruitment business that acts as employment agency.
Mentions of public employment agencies date back to 1650. The idea for employment agencies back more and more adopted in developed countries by the beginning of the twentieth century. It was a way to fight unemployment and help people find any work. One of the first employment agencies was formed in London in 1902 and spread throughout whole country in 1909. Today’s decedent is public provide of job search help, Jobcentre Plus. Some of the other countries that have public employment agencies include Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Japan, Lithuania, Philippines and United States. Most of these agencies are set up by law. World Association of Public Employment Services has 85 Public Employment Services members as of 2016.
Private employment agency was firstly opened in England by John Gabbitas who wanted to recruit schoolmasters for public school. In the United States, first private employment agency was Engineering Agency from 1893, founded by Fred Winslow. Later this agency became part of General Employment Enterprises. Another older agency was set up by Katharine Felton after San Francisco earthquake and fire in 1906. Many of the public agencies are temporary and specialize in a particular profession like accounting, health care, technical or secretarial.
Type of private recruitment business is an executive recruitment. This kind of company specializes in hiring executive personnel for businesses in various fields of industry. Also, executive-search can represent job search consulting companies that charge job candidates a fee and they usually specialize in mid to upper level executives. It is also not new that certain third-party recruiters work on their own while others work for an agency Those who work for an agency are direct contact between client companies and the protential future workers they recruit. They can also choose to specialize in client relationships only, like sales or business development, in finding candidates or in both areas. Most of recruiters will go for specialization in either permanent, full-time, direct-hire positions or in contract positions, but it is not rare to see them in more than one. If company works with executive recruitment firm they pay the search firm its fee and not the person that is being recruited. Relationship between executive search companies and clients are usually long and, in that way, both sides provide a high level of professionalism.
Executive search agents or professionals typically operate at the most senior level of executive positions and they must have personal contacts in their field or industry such a knowing specific knowledge of the area and be detailed. These agents are involved throughout the overall recruitment process, conducting interviews and present selected candidates that meet all requirements to the client. If the client is multinational business, rather that face to face interviews, executive agents would conduct video interviews. Another important role of agents is to maintain good working relationship between executive recruitment agency they work for and clients.

Immediate iPhone Screen Repair - A Must for the Future of Your iPhone
If you have been using an iPhone 7 for quite some time now, you must be aware of the fact that your precious little device is highly sensitive and breakable. Being made of fragile materials that can break at the slightest impact against a hard surface, your iPhone is highly prone to damage. In fact, your iPhone's glass screen is the most sensitive part and hence, it needs to be taken care of.
In most cases of iPhone damage, it is the glass screen of the iPhone that gets damaged or shattered. The ideal solution to this is to go for immediate iPhone 7 screen repair at a good, reliable iPhone repair store situated in your locality. So, now the main question is why exactly the Apple iPhone screen repair is required and why is it a must for the future of your iPhone? There are various kinds of accidents that may cause iPhone screen damage. That would require immediate repair of the smashed or broken iPhone screen by experienced iPhone specialists who are certified to handle iPhone repairs.
In majority of the cases, people damage the glass screen of their iPhone by dropping it on a other hard surface by mistake. In such a case, the screen either develops web-like cracks on its surface or gets smashed completely. The small pieces of broken glass, if ignored, usually get inside the device and cause damage to the entire internal circuitry of the iPhone. This may lead to permanent damage in the long run. Hence, when the screen of your iPhone gets damaged due to any reason, it becomes imperative to get in touch with a local iPhone repair specialist immediately for immediate cracked iPhone screen repair.
In another similar fortuitous event, if your iPhone happens to drop on the pavement or the road while walking and gets stamped by a pedestrian or run over by a vehicle, its delicate glass screen will certainly get smashed completely. As a result, while your broken iPhone might continue to function, you surely wouldn't be able to use the home screen or any of your 'expensive' iPhone apps! Also, the likelihood of the fine glass pieces getting inside the device and causing permanent internal damage to the device can't be ruled out. To keep away from such type of damages, it is prudent to get your iPhone covered by a good quality crystal film. The film would keep the iPhone's inner glass unharmed in case any such accident takes place. Nevertheless, if the damage has already been caused, the best solution is to go for broken iPhone screen repair that is nowadays offered at almost all the authorized iPhone repair shops in the city.
As previously mentioned, your iPhone screen is exceedingly brittle. It, in fact, serves as the control board for the little gadget. For that reason, if your iPhone screen gets smashed to an extent where you aren't able to use it anymore, your iPhone would become nearly useless. Even in case of the slightest crack on your iPhone screen, the device might lose its ability to function at the optimum level. This is merely because dirt and dust enters the device through the crack and messes up the device's internal circuits in the long run. This is the reason why immediate cracked iPhone screen repair is so important. Considering the extent of damage a broken screen can cause to your iPhone in future, if ignored, it is sensible enough to go for cheap iPhone screen repair immediately.

Startups and Small Businesses
I have had the chance to work with startups and small businesses to develop the web applications that are at the heart of their business. It is fascinating to see entrepreneurs embrace their passion and forge their own pathway to a successful business. However, cutting a new path is not without its perils. Some of the pitfalls early on for emerging Internet based businesses as it pertains to the technology I have learned from entrepreneurs include:
• Waiting too long to build the application while they search for a technical co-founder
• Determining what programming language and technology stack to use
• Difficulty in working with freelance or offshore resources causing cost overruns and frustration
• What to do with the application once the coding is done. Where to host it and how to secure the data.
As common as these can be, an entrepreneur must forecast a path that learns from others and ensures the most expedient path to success. I am going to only touch lightly on the first three topics, then dig a little deeper into the final topic of where to host your web application.
If you do not have a technical co-founder, but you have a good idea, my advice is to stop looking. Technical co-founders are in demand. If they know what they are doing, then they typically have options. When the next big thing comes along that captures their attention it may be hard for an emerging startup to hold onto an in demand resource anyway. My advice is to get some traction and let the technical co-founders come to you. And they will. People want to be part of a good thing. Your time is better spent researching your idea, finding potential early adopters and outsourcing the skills necessary to prove your idea. And to be clear, you and I both know you don't just have one idea. Your job is to pick one and see if it is really marketable. A good idea does not always make a good business. That is what you need to find out, and fast. Ideas are cheap - so get out and prove you have more than just a good idea. And if you don't, move on to your next good idea. People like you create jobs and opportunity. Sitting on a bad idea is only going to hinder your progress.
Now you are ready to move forward, what technology stack do you use? To use a coined phrase, "Don't sweat the small stuff". Too many entrepreneurs take precious months trying to figure this out. A better strategy is to find a company you feel comfortable working with to develop your code. I don't care if it is Java, Ruby on Rails, PHP, etc. Find the best route for you financially and can be done in the least amount of time to get you to market. Once you start bringing in some revenue, you are going to want to reinvest it into future iterations anyway. You may start out with some feature enhancements in the next subsequent phases, but plan on rebuilding completely after a year if you are making traction. And who knows, your new technical co-founder may want to control this decision anyway. Don't constrain yourself by an artificial requirement of a certain technology path.
So what about offshore resources?
Freelance and offshore resources are fantastic when you are capable of properly managing the outcomes. Many entrepreneurs find themselves over their head because they do not understand the technology and are unable to recognize when things are going in a bad direction. It is difficult to recognize a bad situation when you lack the experience. The best thing you can do is find a US based organization who can help you. They are out there. If you go through the effort of researching your idea, finding early adopters, and incorporating feedback, you should be able to find a way to get the idea built. Most entrepreneurs I have talked with that have used offshore resources have expressed frustration if they lack the technical background to manage that. Partnering with a small IT service business can alleviate that frustration and help you achieve your goals.
The most overlooked component of developing an Internet based business is what to do with the application once the coding is done. This is a critical mistake and should be part of your early planning.
Let me first clear up one area of distinction. I am referring to a web application in this article versus a website. A website is a set of what amounts to primarily static informational pages hosted on a server in the public Internet. For such services, I find shared hosting sites an inexpensive alternative. However, this is not suitable for a web application that uses programming logic to perform tasks and functions to deliver a service of benefit to the end user. For this, an entrepreneur is better served working with a hosted solution. This can be a cloud based virtual server instance to keep costs down.
But herein lays the problem. Many entrepreneurs are guilty of slapping their freshly written code on a free instance of a service like Amazon AWS partner (AWS) and expecting all things smooth from then on. We recommend a Linux Server with a reasonable level of security, to include a firewall restricting access to your data. In some cases, a two tier architecture separating the web based front end from the back end database may be warranted. However, in most cases for an early stage deployment a security conscious server implementation is acceptable.
Let's say you manage to do all of this. You secure a VPS server running Linux. Deploy your code. You are on the Internet. Now what? Who is doing the care and feeding of this server? It is important to ensure you have a plan for system administration functions of the server. I am an advocate of having a person responsible for log reviews and backups even for the well running system. As your information technology consumption such as CPU, memory and storage utilization grows in parallel with your customer acquisitions, you should be strategically planning the expansion of resources. As every entrepreneur knows, a death blow to an emerging startup is to run out of money. But as every technical professional knows, it can be just as fatal to have a security breach or user experience that makes your service unusable. Customers have short term memories. One mistake in the trust arena will have them take their business elsewhere. And no one wants to develop a bad reputation or be subject to lawsuits in more serious acts of negligence.

Protective Coatings - Nano-Science at Its Best
The usability and applicability of nanotechnology is wide-ranging. The principle of nanotechnology that allows man to manipulate the molecular structure of materials has also made it possible for new innovations to flourish. Today, nanotechnology has grown to such an extent that about a thousand products are being developed or manufactured in laboratories all around the world using the technology. Passive nano-materials are already available for the cosmetics and food industry. Carbon allotropes nano-materials are also being used for textile, food packaging, appliances and many other manufacturing sectors.
The building industry has also adopted the use of nano-materials for surface and protective coatings products, using what is called "surface functionalized nano-materials." Nano-particles like dodecanethiol functionalized gold particles have unique surface chemistries that can be controlled. Their adhesion properties can be changed. Nano-powders can be dispersed to polymers and protective coatings. When these nano-materials are combined with coatings and applied to target surfaces, they change the surface properties and make it more resistant to UV rays, typical corrosion, and many types of damages.
Nanotechnology Innovation: Protective Super-Paints
The coatings industry is stepping up the production of nanotechnology products. Just last year, an Italian paint manufacturer developed superpolymers and protective coatings based on a patented nanotechnology. The results are anti-corrosive fire-resistant super-paints based on nano-clay composites. Nano-clay is a material that has outstanding barrier properties and is very cost-efficient in its application. The anti-corrosive coatings will soon be in the market this 2010.
Many other anti-corrosion formulations based on nano-materials are also used in the construction and underwater industries. Heavy machinery painting applications often require the best performance in protective coatings. In the oil extraction and energy generation industries, nano-tech protective coatings that are resistant to fluctuating and extreme temperatures are also being used.
Excellent Surface Protection with Nanotechnology
In terms of surface protection, nanotechnology is often used to formulate nano-scale coatings that make the target surfaces high-performing and resistant to damages.
The Diamon Fusion® nanotechnology is one good example of this technological advancement. Theirs is a patented technology to manufacture capped silicone films. Using a patented chemical vapor deposition process, the technique is employed to silicon-dioxide-based surfaces. These coatings are also effective on glass, ceramic, granite or porcelain surfaces. The technology involves a two-stage chemical process. The first stage creates cross-linked films in silica-treated surfaces. The second stage caps the surface. The coatings thereby increase the surface' ability to repel water intrusion. Aside from this unique waterproofing property, the protective coatings can also provide the surface with good resistance against surface contaminants. In essence, the protective coatings imbue the surface with easy self-cleaning abilities.
Diamon Fusion® coatings are applied in an air-tight room using a vapor deposition system for high-volume and batch applications. It can also be hand-applied as a liquid product to smaller projects. Whatever method of application was used, the coatings act in the same way. They create cross-linked and branched, capped silicone films in the surface. The final film is clear-colored and seals the surface tightly. The bond formed by the chemical process is unbreakable from then on.
If you are looking for giving your car a new nano ceramic coating

Working in Accounting Executive Search Firms
Accounting executive search firms help in recruitment of financial and accounting staff. Private firms consult the accounting executive search firms for hiring the best professionals as per their needs. Thus, one looking for a work in such a firm should be aware of the lack of flexibility of working hours. The basic existences of these firms lie in serving their clients efficiently and quickly. The needs of the client prioritize over all other functions of the firm. Job profiles in such firms vary from a low end accountant to a senior director of accounting. It is a clientele based work sector where clients are treated as equivalents to god.
If you are looking for the job of a recruiter, you have to do a thorough research of the recruit applications choosing the best for the clients. This demands professional and sales driven attitude. Sometimes a person with better communication skills has to be recruited instead of one holding higher degrees. Other options like office administrator and manager jobs also exist. These will require on the field running around to ensure the best quality service to its clients and making sure that there are no impediments in collaborating and coordinating with the client.
There are numerous other positions related to executive accounting, like controller, accounting director, finance director, chief financial officer, senior manager - accounting, senior auditing manager, auditing director, vice president - accounting and finance, assistant vice president - accounting, executive director and senior director - accounting.
Every firm provides a detailed description of what its objective is and the field it works in. What you need to do is go through the job description and check if it fulfills your need. While doing this primary search, keep in mind that the firm needs you and will only reply back if they find you suitable for the position. Once you are sure of the job requirements, create an attractive resume providing relevant experience and achievements.
Firms generally keep a large amount of information of applicants at hand so as to provide a best candidate according to the client's criteria quickly. So, not being called for an interview within few days and months of application should not be taken to heart. Sometimes firms tend to contact back even after 2-3 years. In this case, email account and phone numbers provided preferably should not be changed.
Accounting executive search firms singapore are both Global and boutique in nature and have offices in different countries. Global ones have offices all over the world catering to different sectors. Boutique ones provide services to only specific sectors of work and have offices in one or two locations. As per your need, search the firm that suits you the best and you will land up with your dream job. Words of caution for the aspiring applicants- do not expect leisure in the start of your career in this field. Be on your toes and you will achieve success in no time.

Long Term Impression of Apple's Macbook Air
The Macbook Air is possibly the sexiest laptop in the world, even now, years after its launch. Nothing looks quite like it, with the beautiful unibody (yes, it was actually the first unibody laptop from Apple) aluminum construction and sculpted shape. Even after owning it for a while, I still admire the pewter-like finish.
Much has been criticized about the refurbished Macbook Air though, with most remarks being about the device lacking an optical drive, its price, or not having much connectivity. Some of the criticism has been directed at the Air being underpowered as well.
While I do have my own criticisms, most of the opinions mentioned above I do not agree with. The Macbook Air is targeted at a certain type of individual. This person is fairly well-off, meaning they don't need or want one device to do it all. They don't want to watch DVDs on their laptop, because they have a great home theater at home. They do not want to use this as a work laptop, because they may already have one, or prefer to do their work on a proper powerful desktop.
I fit the demographic mentioned above, for the most part. I'm not well off though, and even if I was, I would not pay the better part of two grand for this laptop. It is most certainly not worth the retail prices that Apple charges for the various configurations. I bought mine refurbished from Apple, for about half the price of a new one. It came with the same warranty, and was essentially brand new with only 3 cycles on the battery.
So after paying half of retail and having it for a while, what do I think? I think that I made the right decision, but of course, there are shortcomings. I'll start with the good though. Apple did include the most important things. What they got right was the screen (same size as the standard Macbook, but of much better quality), the full-size, backlit keyboard, the very large and very functional trackpad, the weight and ease of carrying it and the including of a dual-core CPU, 2 GB of RAM, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11n.
All these things make it a very functional laptop. The full-size keyboard with tactile feedback that is far beyond most laptops is something I find to be absolutely necessary. I don't feel the need to go to my desktop with it. It might seem frivolous, but I love the keyboard being backlit. I also usually hate trackpads, but the exceptionally large one in the Air is great, both in terms of response, and the capability that it adds when in Mac OS X (multi-touch features). This is the only laptop where I don't feel that I need to have a mouse. With Bluetooth and N-grade Wi-Fi built in, you're connected very well wirelessly, so no dongles are necessary, which is great. I like the inclusion of a decent quality webcam and microphone; every laptop should have this.

Add Shine to Your Pottery Quickly With Ceramic Glaze
Special techniques are used to make some designer and artistic high end pottery, porcelain, enamel and many other such products. Ceramic glaze is the method which is very commonly used in all such products. Ceramic glaze i.e. the ceramic coating is generally used to give the outer look or to increase the outer look of any product. It is generally used to even up the shape of the product, add the shine to it. Ceramic coating changes the look of the product completely and makes it more attractive. Glaze is the best thing one can add up to the pottery or enamel and make it look more artistic and attractive.
Ceramic glaze is generally used to enhance the beauty of things or products that are made up of the natural or earthy material. For e.g. if the pot is made up from mud and after it is made it is glazed then that evens up the surface as well as gives shine and proper finish to the pot. Ceramic glaze or ceramic coating is generally used in the end. After the making work is done, this is used to add the final touch to the product.
There are different ways to use ceramic coating. Some uses the glaze just for the final touch where as others who might want to make some designs on the pottery to make it even more interesting by using glaze. One can mix ceramic with some interesting colors and then apply on the pot or vase or any other product to give that shine as well as the attractive color to the product. The most common method is to dip the pot in the ceramic glaze to get the coating level on it. Some people pour the glaze and some may even spray or sprinkle the glaze on the top of the pot or vase. This helps in creating certain effects and designs on the product.
Mainly the glaze is made up from the minerals like potassium, sodium and calcium. When all these three are combined and brought together in pre-fixed proportions, it forms metal oxide. The metals are heated and then turned into the liquid form and then it is can be formed and taken into use to create the designs or effects over the coating.
If your pottery requires some beautiful, shiny and royal touch then ceramic coating is what you are looking for. Ceramic coating is certainly the best material to make the outer look of the pot or vase look more interesting and attractive.

Three Steps to Compliant Data Archiving - A Guide for Small Financial Firms
Financial firms who are members of FINRA need to select a vendor that understands their unique needs, while keeping the overall cost of compliance down. There are three key requirements FINRA members need to look for in a vendor to help them outsource the long-term archiving of data in compliance with SEC rules.
1. Archiving Various Data Types
When selecting a vendor to outsource the long-term archiving of electronic records, small financial firms need a provider that can backup and retain a wide range of data types. Ensuring they meet the requirements outline in SEC/FINRA rule 17a-3 in conjunction with rule 17-4, they must take into account data contained in the Books and Records, systems configuration, and all communications such as email, instant messaging and social media. In addition, the vendor must be able to retain the original data formats so that historical records can be accessed by compliance officers and auditors at any time.
Essentially, when a member of FINRA seeks a vendor to help them with the long-term archiving of data, it is important that the provider fully understand current and historical data must be accessed using old legacy systems. This is not only important for on-going compliance reviews, but also during audits. So firms will find it beneficial to be able to provide auditors with archiving data in formats that can be easily read, and in essence, this will speed up the auditing process and ensure FINRA staff are out the door quickly.
2. Retention of Data in Non-rewritable Format
Once the proper formats of data are being archived and made accessible to auditors and compliance offices, FINRA firms need to be sure the data is stored on non-rewriteable media, also known as Worm storage. This is hard disk used by the provider that is storing the historical data on disk technology prevents the deleting or overwriting of data. This is a critical component of SEC data retention rules, and FINRA members must ensure they are using a provider that has implemented WORM disk to store their data.
3. Quick Recoverability
It is important that FINRA members select a vendor that can recover all current and archived data within a timely manner, usually within 48 hrs. This is an important aspect of the FINRA Business Continuity Planning (BCP) process and should be a feature included with the vendor's service. Often, archiving vendors will have several methods to allow for the recoverably of customers data, depending on the severity of the failure.
For example, if systems are temporarily down due to a minor disaster, the vendor should offer a web interface access to archived data so customers can still view data in the interim while the systems are being recovered; in the event of a major disaster, the vendor should be able to make a full copy of its customer's data on a removable drive and drop ship it to any location so the customers can fully recovery at a secondary disaster site.
The Business Continuity Planning (BCP) requirement is closely connect to the long-term archiving of data. Ensuring the same vendor who is performing the long-term archiving of data can also recovery the data in the event of a disaster is key to simplifying the data compliance strategy, it will also help to keep the costs down and speed up the auditing process.
Summary
Small audit firm in Singapore need to outsource the long-term archiving of electronic records for compliance. Because of the lack of in-house expertise, they need to find a vendor who understands their unique requirements and can retain the data in the proper format and make it readily available in the event of a disaster or during audits. Choosing the right provider is critical to keeping the cost down and simplifying the process, failing to assign the proper third party can be costly and result in audit failure, large fines and untimely impact customer confidence.

Cloud Computing: The Ins and Outs
Cloud computing has gained significant popularity over the past few years because of its self service capacity, flexibility, affordability, scalability and its pay as you go service model. You may have also heard cloud computing referred to as the cloud, cloud hosting, cloud server hosting and etc. These terms have been thrown around so much and most do not even know exactly what it means. So what is cloud computing?
Cloud computing is unlike traditional hosting alternatives that use a single dedicated server, as cloud computing uses virtualization technology to pool or share resources from an underlying network of physical servers. In other words, a group of physical servers acts like one big server to bring you the resources that you need on demand. Cloud computing delivers shared computing resources, data or software through the Internet; which is the most common way of accessing the cloud. However, intranets and dedicated networks are also used too. Resources provided by the cloud include: networks, servers, storage, platforms, applications and other services. And these resources are shared between people and organizations, and accessed by applications or users.
The Five Main Characteristic of Cloud Computing
In cloud computing, there are five fundamental characteristics that differentiate it from traditional hosting alternatives, including rapid elasticity, broad network access, on-demand self-service, resource pooling, and measured service.
· On-Demand Self-Service
With cloud computing's on demand self service, you are able to access email, applications, network or server services without human interaction. Simply set up an account with the seller, create billing and security credentials, and select the cloud computing resources that you will need. Generally this is all done by utilizing a user friendly and easily accessible web-based self-service portal.
· Broad Network Access
Cloud computing services are available over a network, either over a dedicated network, the Internet or the Intranet. These services can be accessed by anyone, anywhere, anytime on any device or workstation, with the right credentials of course.
· Resource Pooling
Cloud computing provides multiple customers the same physical resources, however, with a a separate environment for each client. And the resources from these physical servers can be pooled from various servers, in various data centers, in various locations. And if a server in your network goes offline, then your virtual server will pool resources from another server in your physical network. Even if an entire data center in your network is down, then your resources are pooled from various data centers in various locations. This structure allows for decreased risk in the instance of failure.
· Rapid Elasticity
Perhaps one of the essential benefits of cloud computing is the flexibility that it provides to users, as cloud resources can be rapidly and elastically supplied to quickly scale out and in to meet demand. In other words, you get the resources that you need when you need them.
· Measured Service
Cloud computing leverages metering capabilities to measure your usage of resources, allowing you to only pay for what you are using. In other words, just like a utility bill you will only be charged for what you use, nothing more nothing less.
The 3 Main Cloud Computing Service Models
In cloud computing, there are three main service models. They are Software as a Service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
· Software as a Service (SaaS) is the most extensively used cloud computing service model. SaaS allows developers and organizations to utilize business specific applications developed by third parties. In a SaaS model the vendor hosts both the application and the data, and the end user is free to use the services from anywhere. SaaS is not your average on premise software, as it is deployed over a network, generally the web, accessible via browser or program interface. Services can be anything from email to inventory control to database processing. Some examples include: Salesforce.com, Zoho, and Netsuite. The service level coverage provided includes: application uptime and performance.
· Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a type of cloud computing that provides users with software development tools that are hosted on a cloud provider's infrastructure. In a PaaS environment, developers can leverage the resources of a cloud provider to create and host applications on their platforms over the Internet. The greatest benefit derived from PaaS is that users can run existing or develop new applications without being concerned about the maintenance of server hardware, operating systems, load balancing or computing capacity. In other words, you can unload the responsibility of owning, managing, and operating systems software and hardware to your service provider. The types of services provided can be anything from RunTime scenario, cloud storage, integration and etc. Some examples of PaaS are Google App Engine, Windows Azure and Force.com. The service level coverage provided includes: environment availability, environment performance and no application coverage.
· Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a form of cloud computing that provides users with networks, storage, virtualized servers and systems software that give you all the functionalities of an entire data center. In other words, you are able to use computers that your service provider owns, manages and operates. Resources should encompass servers, storage, vendor managed network and virtualization layers so that your network architect is able to run your application and data. All the while, you will have control over operating systems and deployed applications. Types of services provided: cloud storage and virtual server. Some examples: Amazon Web Services, RackSpace Cloud and Go Grid. The service level coverage provided includes: virtual server availability, time to provision and no platform or application coverage.
The Three Major Cloud Solutions
There are many types of cloud strategies to employ. There are three main types of cloud solutions, including: public, private and hybrid cloud solutions.
· Public Cloud
When people think of the term cloud, more often than not they are referring to the public cloud. A public cloud solution is shared by thousands of customers worldwide and is available to anyone on the Internet. This is the easiest and most cost effective cloud strategy to employ. However, because you share the cloud with the public, you do not want to keep sensitive information here.
· Private Cloud
When your organization has sensitive data, privacy fears are a leading issue. This is where a private cloud will come into use. A private cloud is either a proprietary network or a data center that provides hosted services to just a single customer. In a private cloud setup, you must either lease or supply the hardware that will be used. Not to mention you can either manage some or all of your IT resources in-house or managed externally. For businesses that are in highly regulated industries where security is paramount, a private cloud solution is the only alternative. The benefits of a private cloud solution include: no restrictions of network bandwidth, security vulnerabilities, and legal concerns that utilizing a public cloud might encompass. It can also have improved security, accountability, and resiliency than a public cloud because use can be contained and managed. Some disadvantages are that a large capital investment is required, time to market can average 6-36 months to establish and the learning curve is great.
· Hybrid Cloud
A hybrid cloud is a combination of a public and a private cloud and is considered to be the best of both worlds. A hybrid cloud solution allows you to keep all of your secure data in a private cloud setting, while getting high usability of mobile and web based access to corporate applications. In most cases, a hybrid cloud solution that combines the advantages of both private and public clouds works rather well for a bulk of businesses. Some advantages of a hybrid cloud solution include: no vendor lock in, minimizes the risk of data loss and/or downtime, save the extra cost of purchasing exclusive server hardware and get fairly reliable connectivity, even in case of outages. One major disadvantage is that a hybrid cloud solution is very expensive.
