When I was 20 and got married, older women loved to try to scare me with stories of what it's like to live with a man.
My marriage is wonderful 20 years later.
Through my 20s into my 30s, older women loved to try to predict when my baby fever would kick in and they'd tell me horror stories of motherhood.
We chose not to have kids and baby fever never hit me.
Now, I'm in my 40s and older women love to tell me about how I'm going to suffer through menopause. They gleefully recount hot flashes, the weight gain, how I'll have to "work harder to be a woman".
I'm not even perimenopausal. I'm only 41. I know about menopause. It's not a secret.
Can women just let women age? This isn't support. This is aggression in pink.

Some queer thoughts about Twelfth Night
I've been thinking about Twelfth Night a lot within the last year, and I am certainly not the first person to deliberate on the queer and trans narratives in the play. However, there is an interpretation I have yet to see that I would like to put out there. That being; Viola is a trans woman.
My personal interpretation of Twelfth Night is that Viola, a trans woman who has been out to and accepted by her family for a while (explaining her need/desire for a unich identity due to years of voice training), ends up in unfamiliar territory. Without the protection of her family and status, Viola and the captain fear for her safety in case her trans identity were to be found out in a place where neither of them are sure about trans acceptance in the community. So, Viola dons her brother's clothes and assumes her dead name in the hopes that someone may put two and two together if they were to come looking for her (Seb doesn't because a) he thinks his sister is dead b) he's not very good at math, and c) he absolutely thinks that everyone calling him Cesario is a really weird coincidence). Being trans could also account for everyone thinking her and Seb are the same person, as they would be identical twins instead of fraternal twins.
So, throughout the whole play, Viola is not only dealing with her feelings for Orsino, but also her guilt and sadness over living in the closet after being out for so long, even if it's for her safety. This eats at her more and more as she begins to become closer with the people around her (her little crush on Orsino developing into a much deeper understanding and friendship between the two of them, which also makes her feelings that much more intense). As she has more and more of these vaguely (or explicitly, with Olivia) romantic encounters with these two people she cares about, she struggles with her inability to pursue an actual romance with either of these people without lying to them.
At this point, I'm just describing Twelfth Night, but I would def be willing to talk on the matter further if anyone is interested, but I need a typing break for now.
