A Few Notes About Setting Up A Trust
Tumblr media
If you have money that you want to be used for your own benefit, or for the benefit of someone else after you have died, you might want to consider setting up a trust. Whether you are receiving home care from a care agency, or any other form of personal care in Bournemouth, you need to use a solicitor to do this, and the fees will not be cheap. Typically, think of £1,000 or more. However, it is worth doing properly.
If you just gave a friend some cash and told them what you wanted them to do with it to look after you, or anyone else, they could actually spend that cash on anything they liked. However, if you set up a trust it has legal standing, because the trustee, in this case your friend, is in charge of the trust property, which is your money, and must use it for the benefit of the beneficiary, in this case you, or beneficiaries if there is more than one.
You can set up a trust so that the money, or other investment, is used to take care of you, or of someone else such as a partner who may not be able to look after themselves when you have gone. You have to choose trustees whom you can trust – obviously – and you should have at least two. Alternatively, you can use a firm of solicitors to act as your trustees, but you have to bear in mind that they will charge a fee for doing so.

Your Right To Complain About Home Care With Which You Are Unhappy
Tumblr media
If you are being provided with home help in Bournemouth, whether you are paying for it yourself or whether it is being provided wholly or partially by the local council, and if it is a care agency in Dorset, and you are unhappy with any of the service you receive, you have the right to make a formal complaint about it.
Home care, and also care homes, are regulated by the Care Quality Commission in England which is responsible for ensuring that the care you receive meets national standards. The provider has a legal obligation to ensure that you are treated with respect and are comfortable and safe.
If you have any sort of problem or consider that you are not being treated properly, the first thing to do is to talk to someone such as the manager of the service. Very often that will resolve the problem, and all will be well. If that doesn't do the trick, you will need to make a formal complaint. Ask the care service provider for a copy of their complaints policy which they are obliged to show you. This will tell you what to do if you are not satisfied.
If part, or all, of your care for home health in Dorset is being paid for by your local council, you need to speak to the social services department. They will investigate and take any sort of action that they see fit. If you are still unhappy with the outcome you can then you can contact the Local Government Ombudsman.

Setting Up A Power Of Attorney
Tumblr media
If you are considering, or in need of, home care in Bournemouth because you are having difficulty handling your finances or suffering from memory lapses, it may be a good idea to consider giving someone a power of attorney over your finances.
Obviously, this would have to be someone in whom you have total trust, but if you are having difficulty remembering when to pay bills, or can't understand your bank statement, setting up a power of attorney is something to think about.
People who need home help in Dorset often consider their husband, wife, family member, or a trusted friend, but there is an important thing to think about here too, and that is to take into consideration what would happen if your chosen power of attorney should die or for some reason be unable to continue to act. The best idea is to name one or two replacement attorneys who could act for you in this situation.
If you are in poor home health in Bournemouth, you need to register your power of attorney in good time, because it takes several weeks to take effect. However, setting up the power of attorney doesn't mean that you lose instant control over your affairs. It doesn't take effect until it has been formally registered and you don't have to do that immediately. You can set it up and then register it when the time comes that you realise that you need to do so.

If You Need Help With Day-To-Day Living, Consider Sheltered Accommodation
Tumblr media
If you have mobility problems and are unable to walk easily, you can get help from a care agency in Dorset. You can get home help in Bournemouth that can assist you with the things that you are unable to do, whether that is the result of simply ageing, or perhaps illness or accident.
One of the things that you might consider doing is to move into sheltered accommodation. These are purpose-built homes that you can buy or rent from the local authority, housing associations, or private companies, and they are designed so that you can remain as independent as possible, yet you have extra help if you need it. Usually you will find there is an on-site warden, alarm systems, and also there are often communal facilities where you can engage in social activities with other tenants, or simply meet someone for a chat.
If you need help with home health in Dorset, you can still have a carer visit you when you need it because you still have your own front door and private flat, or it could even be a small cottage in a retirement village, as these tend to be larger communities.
Another alternative if you are thinking that you may need to move into a care home later is an assisted living scheme. You still have your own home, sometimes in a care home's grounds, but have extra services nearby as and when you need them. Not only that, but your spouse can move in with you as well.

The Advantages Of Remaining In Your Own Home As You Get Older
Tumblr media
Given the choice, as we get older most of us would prefer to stay in our own homes rather than move into a care home where there is only one room in which to live, so we would have to dispose of many of our belongings which we may have had for years.
In order to help us stay at home there is a range of home care services available for personal care in Bournemouth. You could have regular visits from a home care worker to help you with things such as showering and bathing, cooking, house cleaning, and even getting the shopping or taking you out to a day care centre where you can socialise with others.
There are some big advantages to staying in your own home, not the least of which is that you remain among friends and neighbours that you know, and you keep all your own belongings. You also retain full control over the support that you get, so you can always change things if you wish. One important thing is that the value of your home is not taken into account when calculating what you should pay for visits from a home care agency, and you don't need to have any alterations or appliances fitted until you actually need them.
You should note that if you don't have friends and family visiting you, and you have difficulty getting out and about, it can be a bit lonely, but other than that, staying in your own home is often the best choice.

Whatever the Problem, There Are People Who Can Help You In The Home
Tumblr media
No matter how independent you may be right now, there may come a time when you need home help in Dorset for the simple reason that, as happens to many of us, you simply cannot physically do all the things that you once did. Certainly, it can be frustrating, but we have to face facts, and there are people out there who are dedicated to providing home care in Bournemouth and the surrounding area for people who cannot manage everything on their own.
Maybe your doctor has prescribed you tablets for home health in Bournemouth, and you have quite a number of them, but get confused as to which you should take and when. It is very easy to have a problem with this, but a home care expert will be able to handle this problem for you and see that you take them at the times when you should.
Perhaps it is simply a question that you can manage around the home as you always have done, but have great difficulty in walking, and therefore you need someone to get your shopping for you. Perhaps you have arthritis severely and simply cannot stand for any length of time, so cooking becomes a problem because you can't spend time standing in front of the cooker. Or perhaps that is not a problem, but you have difficulty getting dressed and making the bed.
Rest assured, that whatever the problem there is a team of people out there whose job it is to help you, and they will be happy to do so.
