Dear readers.

I GOT A NEW LAPTOP. therefore you guys can look forward to more updates with YOU and I. i'll admit i dropped the ball with updating this story..but you guys have to understand i was running this tumblr from a iphone! lol but not anymore. I got a personal laptop so i'm good. be on the lookout as to what happens with etta, kanye, chris....does kae come back in the picture? all the characters are going to have some part in the ending.

Chapter 24:

Days Later...

(Kanye's poit of view)

"Jade come downstairs!" I screamed. Etta was on her way home from work and I wanted everything to be perfect.

"Calm down Ye" Jasmine joked with me. It was clear to her that I was nervous.

Everyone was here at my apartment. Renee, Mrs & Mr. Martin, Jasmine, Alice, Jay & B, Solange, Antoine, Johnay even made it.. Everyone who is important is here. Tonight is the big night. Although most people would call they way Etta and I have done things "backwards", I think this is the next great step. Tonight's the night I'm gonna ask her to be my wife. I think I was too nervous to do it alone so I made a proposal party out of it. I've been planning for about a week now and I have Mr. Martin's blessing so now all I need is Etta's yes. I was drowing myself in my own thoughts when I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Hey You make my daughter happy. She's gonna say yes." With both Etta and I's busy hollywood schedules we barely have time for family. But still..with all the chaos Mr. Martin has taken me in like his own son. "Thanks Mr.Martin" I said with a relived smile. "Hey it's DAD now!" He raised a glass to his anticipation.

I felt a buzzing in my pocket. I pulled my phone out to see Etta's beautiful face. I raised my arms like a little child and screamed "IT'S HER EVERYBODY" and headed to outside where it was quiet.

"Hello?"

[Hey babe. I'm almost home from work. I'm really hungry so I was calling to see if you cooked. *giggles*]

"Ummm yeah baby I cooked. I made your favorite."

[oh did you now? and what's that handsome.]

"Chinese takeout."

[*she laughed hard* Ordered? Cooked? same difference huh?]

"Yes don't worry though you'll eat. Just hurry up and get here so I can see your face. I've missed you all day"

[You've missed me? Are you trying to butter me up for some odd reason.]

"Girl why something gotta be up? I can't miss my woman?"

[Ummmmm...sure you can...just.... uh... Love you too I'm almost there.]

"okay bye."

as I hung with her I got my some things out my car. I headed back into the apartment and my heart began to beat fast. I reached in my suit jacket and got the ring. the fuzzy feeling of the velvet box gave me chills. the adrenaline was pumping through my veins. I made my way back to where our family and friends were. "She's coming everybody go on the balcony. THIS IS IT" Renee pranced around in excitement. everyone rushed to the balcony where they couldn't be seen. Seconds later the door opened.

This had to be our millionth kiss but this one sent electricty through my body.

She greeted me with a bright smile and a "Hey baby."

We ate our chinese takeout dinner as planned and she seemed happy. Content and ready to spend the rest of the night with just her and I.

"Where's Jade? she's pretty quiet." ... "JADE YOU CANT COME FROM YOUR ROOM TO SAY HI TO MOM?" she screamed upstairs.

I got up from my chair and followed her. "Babe she's not in her room"

"Where is she then?" she asked slightly confused. Jade came in right on cue.

"Right here mom." She stood in the doorway to the balcony.  as she went to embrace her everyone else screamed surprise. Jade took her hand and took her out on the balcony which gave me time to prepare the ring and follow behind Etta.

"What is all this?" Etta looked around at everyone. "Dad is that a drink in your hand?" Everyone laughed. "It's a celebration momma." he responded. "Celebrating what? You said the only time you'd drink is when me and Renee get mar__" before she could finish the word I tapped her on her shoulder. She turned around and found me knelt on one knee.

Her eyes grew wider than the world. She gasped for air. She was surronded by smiles of family and friends behind her. I began my speech... "Etta Marie" she started screaming. Renee being the big sister that she is told her to shut up and let me talk. Fanning her now watering eyes "OKay ...Okay... continue"

"Etta Marie. You are the greatest woman I've laid eyes on. I thank the little old city of Hartford, CT for giving me such a incredible person.You have taught me that love has no rules... when you love someone, life just happens. You follow your heart and your heart doesn't follow you. You can't think up a Love like the one we have Etta. In a short amount of time you given me feelings that could last a life time. You are my queen and I truly believe God created you FOR ME. NO BODY ELSE. YOU ARE ALL MINE and I want to make it official. It's me and you baby. For ever. All i need in this crazy life is YOU. so... WILL YOU MARRY ME?"

she giggled in excitement at the sight of the ring.

She paused and responded with something that shocked us all. "No"

we all stopped in shock. The mood began to shift..."No, asking me Will I marry you seems as if you're asking me to do you a favor...YES.. I WANT!.. TO MARRY YOU KANYE. I'll say I DO because I WANT TO." Etta smiled knowing she scared the shit out of me.

I PICKED UP HER and held her ass in my hands, her legs gripped tightly around my torso. She looked down at me and kissed me passionately.

"OKAY STOP IT YOU TWO BEFORE YOU GET ALL X-RATED. PUT THE RING ON HER FINGER." Mrs. Martin demanded.

We both laughed as we came down for air. I put the ring on her finger as we both looked down at it.

Chapter 23:

(chris' point of view) The next day I got in my car and without much thought I drove to Etta's place. I prayed with everything within me that she'd be home. As I turned the corner on her street I drove by a woman walking a little girl. Something told me to double take and as I looked through my mirrors I saw Etta's smile as she held Jade's hand. I turned around and pulled up beside them. They stopped. I pulled down my window.. "Etta" I let out. "can we talk?" she froze. Seconds later she grabbed jade's hand. "let's go jade" she demanded walking away. I called after her as distance between us increased. "I have nothing to say to you chris" she called out as she continue to walk away "but mom!" jade screamed. Mom? I thought. I started to drive up to them. "mom?" I said out the window. "jade is yours?" she kept walking, eyes focused straight ahead "how come you didn't tell me?". Jade looked up at Etta in confusion as they continued to storm off. "Etta I'm in a car. You can't run away from me." I added. She finally stopped after about a block. She took a deep breath and turned my way. She looked at me in the eyes... A moment we haven't shared in years. Jade timidly peeked at me now behind Etta. "just talk to me" I asked. A few moments of thoughts passed until she opened my passenger seat door. "jade get in the back".. Still confused jade innocently sat down in the back seat. She was looking out the window. It was obvious she had a wall built up. I turned around to jade. "hi jade" she waved to me. I turned back around and sunk into my seat. I turned the car off. "I miss you Etta"..."I miss you. My life hasn't been the same since you left. I don't know what way to go or how to do it but I just want you back in my life." (she was still quiet) "we can get pass everything I know we can. We just have to try. I'll do whatever you want me to" ..(so many things were running through my head).. I fell back into a silence.. " how old is she?" I asked. "I just turned 9" jade added from the back of the car. "Jade sit back" Etta demanded. "so you adopted? I'm assuming with Kanye now. Right?" she nodded her head to me. "damnit Etta look at me" I shouted. She turned my way and we had genuine eye contact for the second in a long time. "I don't love you anymore chris, I'm happy now. Chris just let us be finished... of course I still think about you but that's it. Kanye makes me happy. When he wanted to start a family and I told him i couldn't have kids.. we adopted and his love keeps growing for me and jade now.. We're happy and we're getting serious. You can't just come and change things." She looked like she wanted to cry. I looked away from her for a moment. She continued in my ear " I knew this day would come and hoped that it would come in time for me to be able to respond to you and say yes let's try again but it hasn't.. Chris it's too late. I have a new life." I made sure my voice overpowered hers as I asked "you couldn't have kids? What are you talking about? You're not making sense." She was quiet. Her voice cracked with anxiety. "chris I was pregnant when we got into our fight. I was about a week pregnant. I didn't even know. But when I woke up in that hospital bed and the nurse came in to tell me and Renee all of what really happened she told me that I lost my baby. Chris you killed our love. Because not only did you hurt me but you hurt our baby. I was pregnant." she stopped and started to cry. " I've finally found a man who I see a future with and I wasn't going to deny him the chance at fatherhood because of your screw up. So we adopted. I'm somebody's mom now chris. I can't risk happiness trying to work things out with you" she finished. When I looked at her all I could say was "I'm not a monster." she fixed her mouth to say something and I continued "no, you don't have to say anymore. I'm not a monster Etta. I screwed up but that doesn't make me a monster. I'm not that. I'm the man you fell in love with. The man that took you for granted , yes but most importantly I'm the one YOU said you wanted to marry. Remember that when all those thoughts in your head tell you I'm not worth the risk" She responded with a "I'll be going" as she opened the passenger seat. "to think I fought with Antoine over you still." I thought out loud. She back tracked. " antoine told me and apologized about it all... your fist aren't gonna get you anywhere in life chris. They didn't help keep me and they aren't gonna make me come back to you" she finally closed the door and leaned in the window, jade right behind her... "I hope you find happiness chris, you deserve it.. Just maybe not with me" With my focus away from her I turned the car on. Jade let out a "bye" as her and Etta backed away from the car and I drove off.

Chapter 22

(chris's point of view) Joan and I lost touch. I haven't talked to her in days and I've kinda stopped going to church. I can't even say mad at it. I think ever since that night in the club When I saw Etta she knew deep down we wouldn't get far. Ive been thinking a lot lately. Bumping into Jasmine and her niece Jade, ending things with Kae.. Distancing myself from Joan, fighting with Antoine. It's all been hitting me and the only conclusion I kept coming and keep coming to is that I need to talk to Etta. When you truly love someone you can't erase your feelings for them. No matter how many mistakes are made, no matter how much pain and resentment. The feelings just don't go away. I've had amazing girls come my way.. Beautiful girls.. But they all had one problem.. They weren't her. They didn't get why I wanted to be called Maurice like she used to call me, they didn't understand why I always wanted to go out for pancakes like her and I used to, they didn't understand why I wanted to hear their opinion of my tv appearances like she would always tell. They didn't understand because they weren't her and never will be her. Ive realized that my life isn't going the way I want to because she's not in it.. and if she's not in it then it's not the life I want.

Chapter 21

(Jasmine's point of view) Jade and I had a good time together. Once we got to forever 21 she had forgot all about Chris and her questions about who he was. I bought her some cute outfits and we ate pizza in the food court. Then we got our nails done as planned and before we knew it, it was time for jade to go home. As I pulled up to kanye's place I prepared myself for his conversation. Jade happily walked to the front door with her shopping bags in hand. I followed behind her. Seconds later Ye answered the door. "hi daddy" jade held up all her stuff as she greeted him. "hey sweetheart" kanye kneeled down to embrace her. "man auntie j got you all that? I think pretty soon someone's gonna have more clothes than mommy" he joked. They hugged and jade headed towards her room to put away her things. As his focus left jade, kanye looked up at me. "so what happened?" he asked letting out a deep sigh. We headed towards the family room to sit down and talk. "Well.. We ran into him. He was with Bow. I talked to Bow and Chris just kept looking at Jade. His eyes were glued to her. I mean I know you and Etta adopted her but she can pass for your biological daughter. So I don't know if maybe he was putting the puzzle pieces together in his head." I shrugged. "But she's 9. I'm sure he can do math." Ye responded. "true" I thought out loud. We sat in silence for a moment. "look to be completely honest. I think to sort everything out You and Etta should talk to jade. Jade knows she was adopted because you two are in love and want a family.. And that Etta couldn't have kids. That's what you guys told her. But she's already 9. Bringing her into your family she's being brought into the lime light. It's best she knows truths now before she starts hearing it from other people. Chris doesn't know much about your relationship. So why keep having him become a reason to stress out and freak out? I have a lot of anger towards him but you know even I am getting tired out letting his presence freak me out." I felt like I gave a presidential speech letting out my feelings like that. "yeah .. yeah you're right. It's just I know with just the sound of chris' name it strikes a chord in Etta. I'm always worried about him or something involving him because I'm terrified of bringing Etta back to that place. Now with jade I'm even more terrified for her to hear what happened. I knew that it wasn't gonna be something that we could just hide from for for ever but. I don't know.. Etta and I have something special. We have that rule breaking kind of love and we brought Jade into the picture for her to share in it with us. Just.. I don't know." Ye put his head down in confusion. "Ye I know it's hard to deal with the past. From your point of view I'm sure it's even harder to deal with the idea that someone has mistreated the woman that is perfect in your eyes. But it happened. She wouldn't of found you and know how to appreciate you if she didn't go through all she did with chris. I think. We all just gotta remember that everything happens for a reason and we have to be proud of the mistakes because they NEEDED to happen. For first time parents you guys are doing so good. You've already shown that little girl so much love and she's barely been in your life for a month. You guys are open with her already so just continue to be open". Ye and I talked for almost 45 minutes until it was time for me to go. He and I both agreed that it would be best to talk with jade. I myself also started to think about taking my own advice and not being so angry with chris. We both agreed that we all needed to move on and let reality but just that... Reality. (etta's point of view) About a hour before I got off of work kanye called me to explain that we needed to have a family meeting. Ever since that call I was nervous. I was hesitant to tell jade the truth because she's already came from a troubled family.. She finally feels like she's living a normal life and I don't want her dream to fall apart. Nobody's perfect but still i didn't want to somehow break her heart at the idea that Ye and I aren't all glitz and glam. Even still chris and I's story is always hard to revisit. But I knew it had to be done. I fell in love with Ye because of the security I felt crying on his shoulder. Hopefully in the same manner this family meeting would bring us closer. (later at kanye's place) After preperation between ourselves..practicing how to say everything Kanye and I called Jade downstairs. "am I I'm trouble?" she asked coming downstairs. "no" I reassured her. "dad and I just wanna talk" "okay" she shrugged and sat down. "well.. First we both wanna tell you we love you and we're so glad you're in our family now. We're happy that you've accepted us and let us in your heart. We just have something to tell you." "I love you guys too" she said smiling "I've prayed for God to give me a family and he did.. That's why its easy to call you mommy and daddy cause I know God gave me you guys" with the biggest smile if seen on her yet she continued.. "I'm so happy. I've never felt this happy in my life." With words like that we all joined in a group hug. "that's sweet jade, we're really happy too.. We just wanna tell you something so we can be honest with you. We feel if you know certain things and we're open with you.. you can feel open and closer with us" Ye added. "okay so what is it?" she asked. "well.. Jade we adopted you because I can't have kids" ("yeah I know. She added) well that's what we told you. I probably can have kids but truth is I don't want to. I'm actually kind of scared of being pregnant because I lost my baby once before. See you know chris ? The guy you bumped into today? That was my ex-fiancé... (I paused. I could feel emotions surfacing as I spoke. Jade's eyes were glued to me and Ye's grip on my hand grew tighter.) chris and I were together once and we were so in love that we were going to get married. But one day we got into a fight and I started it.. I hit him and he hit me. The fight got serious and chris really hurt me. I went to the hospital because of it and the doctors told me I was pregnant.. And because of the fight I lost the baby. I've been kinda scared of pregnancy since then. (a few tears ran down my face) chris wasn't a abuser. Our relationship never was physical until that one time. If you ever see him again and I'm not there I don't want you to look at him with hate in your heart. I am telling you this because I want you to know that you are not my own child but I will love you like you are and you already mean so much to me. You fill a very important space in my life now. Your dad and I have money but we are not perfect. I will do anything I can to keep you happy but truth is we will go through pain. People will bring up the past. When you go to school or if I take you places there will be people who will try to remind you about your real mother or how you don't deserve something because of where you came from.. But I want you to know that as long as we have eachother everything else doesn't matter. Don't ever stay stuck in your mistakes and don't ever think because you go through pain once that you deserve pain for the rest of your life. I thought that till your dad here taught me that I still deserve happiness just like everyone else. I love you Jade and that's the truth." Jade looked at me with a look of distinction. It wasnt a sad look or a happy one.. It was just a look very distinct to her. She then just hugged me. She squeezed me tight. Her embrace made me realize that once again, Everything was gonna be okay and that that bright future I once couldn't see was closer then expected.
