Okja (2017) - Joon-ho Bong
5 bullets on this film:
I know I will get a lot of hate for this and I’m ready to receive many messages calling me a heartless bitch (those are my favorite ones), but I didn’t like Okja. I’m sorry. It’s not BAD, but it’s not GOOD. It’s meh. The plot is original and there are some interesting twists, but the characters are very cliché and the dialogues made me cringe.
Seo-Hyun Ahn, who plays Mija, is the best actress in the film and she’s also the youngest. I think Jake Gyllenhaal and Tilda Swinton did the best they could, because their characters were terrible. Paul Dano and Steven Yeun are cute but not great.
The cinematography is pretty and cartoonish, and the special effects are really good. The colours of some scenes are meaningful, and they make the film visually pleasing.
The humour of this movie is great, because the theme is kind disturbing, but there are also some comical moments, so there is a contrast between violent parts and warm and cute scenes that makes the film not too depressing.
The theme of this movie is super important and I think the way animal cruelty is shown is too realistic and disturbing, but it’s effective. We need to see how fucked up the meat industry really is, and Okja reveals the truth behind the meat we are eating.

The Virgin Suicides (1999) - Sofia Coppola
5 bullets on this film:
When you read the title of this movie, you assume it’s going to be very depressing. Well, it is, indeed, but just a little. It’s about suicide and depression, but the story is told with dark humour. I think it’s great for people who are going through a tough time.
I have this thing about Sofia Coppola, that I don’t know if I love her or if I don’t like her or if I want to be her or if I want to marry her, but I think she did a great job with this movie, because the plot could be boring, but it’s not.
The cinematography is <3 and the colors are light and beautiful, it gives the movie a magical and ‘pure’ vibe.
The soundtrack in Sofia Coppola’s movies is always on point, so I don’t even have to talk about that.
Young Kirsten Dunst!!!!! All the actresses that play the sisters are good and so pretty, it makes me feel like shit.
Don’t commit suicide, loves. Sometimes life is not cool, but sometimes it is.

Into the Woods (2014) - Rob Marshall
5 bullets on this film:
If you enjoy musicals like me (I literally know the lyrics to every song in Les Mis) you will probably like Into the Woods. But if you don’t, I’m sorry. You will probably suffer watching it, because it’s very long and you will most likely think all the songs sound the same.
The scenery is impressive and the makeup is greaaatttt.
So many great actors, wow, it looks like George Clooney’s wedding. Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Johnny Depp, Tracey Ullman, Anna Kendrick, I DON’T EVEN KNOW ANYMORE.
The songs are cute, but sometimes annoying and repetitive. The singing is great though.
The story is nice, but it’s a little confusing for those who haven’t watched the original play.
