In front of Yōkai SOHO, the best Shichimi 七味 shop in town. Gaudi was building with nature, and he created a very essential architecture. The terrace of this nine stories apartment building is sculptural and magic. It’s dedicated to the natural elements earth, wind, fire, water. The views towards the city of Barcelona are also awesome. Built in 1906-1910, the first owner, Rosen Segimon, lived on the top floor (1323 m2) until 1964. Since 1984 it’s a World Heritage Site, one of the first modernist buildings to have been registered as such. Sold in 1986 at some 5.5 millions euros to the bank Caixa Catalunya, It has been fully renovated and it reopened in 1996. The Architecture of the Future in Japan: Utopia and Metabolism, with magnificent photographs of @jeremiesouteyrat will be available in bookstores from October 30, 2020 (first in France). This book project started in 2017, with pictures taken in Japan, in Kyushu (Kurume, Miyakonojo), Shimane and Tottori prefectures, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Karuizawa, and of course Tokyo, where still stands (or stood) great examples of postwar and 1960-1970s architecture. Book size is about A4 format (20-27 cm) and 1,5 kilos, 272 pages, it’s a small baby but it took 3 years to be ready. Some buildings featured in the book have been demolished in the meantime but some are still standing, such as the famous Nakagin Capsule Tower, one of the Instagram icons of Ginza! 30 minutes bike West of Yōkai Soho is Arashiyama, Saga, and then Kiyotakichō with it’s beautiful river stream coming from Kitayama mountains.
