In Her Yoga Burn Secrets Zoe Bray-Cotton has truly perfected her own brand of yoga with this dvd. This is not for yoga purists and I'm a little tickled that anyone would even expect a traditional, authentic yoga practice from a Zoe Austin video!
But if you like a challenging (but not so hard that it's discouraging) workout incorporating the incredible strengthening and stretching benefits of yoga with fun new moves, then this is for you.
First off, this is by far the most beautiful indoor set on a fitness dvd and the visuals transform this from a workout into an experience (the gorgeous music doesn't hurt, either).
You will notice how Zoe avoids boring repetitions so often found in other power yoga dvds; as a result, this dvd is packed with so many inventive variations of traditional yoga moves (like the "Eagle Crunch") that time just flies.
The fast pace of the dvd adds the benefits of cardio to what is essentially a full-body strengthening and stretching workout. The stretching moves are consistently intertwined within the strengthening exercises, so soreness is greatly alleviated (although attempting the crow pose was definitely too much for my wrists).
I generally do the entire program but I love the fact that it can also be done as four separate workouts (and although one targets legs and one targets abs, trust me when I say that you will feel your entire body engaged in these segments!).
I have dozens and dozens of other workout dvds (including most of Zoe's) but I can't bear to do any besides Yoga Body Burn, Hit the Spot Pilates, and Body Burn Dance and Pilates (also by Zoe). Those three give me the most intense, all-encompassing workouts that my body needs and I am so addicted to them!

My first yoga class was a mild catastrophe. I wore a big, baggy shirt and kept my shoes on, and I couldn 19t do a single pose the teacher taught. I figured I 19d never, ever be able to progress in any way that would be significant, but luckily I was proven wrong.
Now I always remind my new students that in yoga, progress is inevitable. Come as you are and embrace your first class, no matter what it brings.
Here are a few yoga tips to make complete beginners successful in their first class.
1. Only do what feels good.
If you find yourself in a pose that feels super unnatural, awkward, or downright painful, stop doing that pose. It might sound obvious, but when you 19re in a full class at a new studio and the teacher tells you to do something, it 19s pretty tempting to just suffer through it. There should be no suffering in yoga. Remember that this is a treat for your body, not a punishment.
2. Choose a class accordingly.
If you 19ve never done a Downward Dog, don 19t walk into a vinyasa flow class and expect it to be a breeze. Find a class for beginners or something that suggests a friendly pace for newbies. This isn 19t a shaming thing, it 19s simply being polite to your own body!
If you 19re totally unsure where to start, call your local studio ahead of time and see what class they suggest. If you prefer to take some classes at home first, try some free ones on YouTube!
3. Don 19t stress over what you look like.
No one is looking at you. Seriously. Whether you giggle at the word 1Csacrum 1D or accidentally pass gas in Happy Baby, no one 19s judging you because they 19ve ALL been there. And if anyone IS passing judgment, you 19re in the wrong studio.
4. You are not 1Cbad 1D at meditation.
Even if your mind is on your grocery list the entire time, it 19s OK. Being still is really difficult and eliminating thought is almost impossible. Remember that even this aspect of yoga takes practice, and as long as you show up, you 19ve already 1Cwon. 1D
5. You will never feel like an expert.
Even the handstanding contortionist in the front row doesn 19t feel like an expert. Everyone is in the same mental space in yoga; we all feel like students who have a lot to learn regardless of the amount of experience we have in the physical practice. So stop looking forward to the imaginary point in time where you feel like you 19re a pro, because it won 19t ever come. And that 19s a good thing, I promise.
All this is to say, enjoy the journey! Go in with an open mind, and remember that EVERYONE has had a first class and it 19s totally fine to feel awkward about it.
