juwonyj:
“you always ask for ‘just one more drink’, and it’s never actually your last one!” juwon accused, pulling his arms off of the bar and away from the younger’s grasp in order to cross them over his chest. “if i give you this drink right now, you’ll be back at this bar in half an hour begging me for just one more.”
he narrowed his eyes at the pout on jiao’s face, internally cursing himself for being such a pushover. he turned back to face the shelves of liquor filling the bar behind him. he blew a long sigh through his lips before letting his arms drop to his sides in defeat. he looked back over his shoulder at jiao and shot him a playful glare. “ah, fine, tell me what you want. i’ll make you one more drink-just one-but it’s going to be bottom shelf.” he quipped light-heartedly as he grabbed the appropriate glass. “and you pay for everything next time!”
★ ▌ The moment Juwon’s back was towards him, Jiao knew he had won. Throwing his arms up and yelling in success, Jiao greeted Juwon’s glace with a bright smile that quickly fell into another pout. Perhaps he was a child. Nonetheless, he had sworn on one drink and he would keep his word - nevermind how he would likely flirt his way around the bar just to get himself properly tipsy considering his alcohol tolerance. Hunching his shoulders like a kicked puppy, Jiao mulled his choices over before trying his luck.
Leaning forward once more, Jiao stuck out his pinky finger for Juwon as promise, crooking it in an awkward ‘come hither’ motion to entice Juwon into humoring him. “Okay. Next time I’ll pay for myself but I’ll buy you a drink, too. Something fancy and fruity. But for today, what about a double shot of your drink of choice? What does a bartender drink anyway? Probably the best stuff, right?”

yjzihao:
@yjxjiao.
there’s not much that zihao looks for in terms of friends ; his standards are considerably low, even for someone whose friendships never last for more than a few months. as long as he’s given attention, he could get along with just about anyone ( thanks to his overall indifference to things that should matter ), but with jiao, that connection came naturally. after a few nights out together, he’s become one of his go-to’s when he wants to bring a friend along to an event, and already, they’ve garnered quite a bit of interesting stories that zihao won’t forget easily ( thank you, newfound sobriety ). although it’s almost ten p.m., zihao has just showered in preparation for another night out —— some beach party he was invited to through some beach-goers at work, but his main priority is to take good pictures and hang out with jiao. towel still wrapped around his waist, he’s rummaging through his dresser while humming to himself. after a moment, he peaks over at jiao, holding out two dress shirts. “ maroon or navy? ” he puts one over his chest, and then the other, in order to show their full potential. one would think that after promising that he’d be ready by this hour and not being so, he’d at least have an outfit picked out, but on top of this, he still has to pick out a pair of jeans and shoes. however, this is the norm for him, so much so that he’s even forgotten to apologize. “ which one gives off mysterious beach boy vibes but also makes me look expensive? i need the balance. ”
★ ▌ ”Mysterious beach boy vibes,” Jiao repeats with a lilt of amusement. Given how often the boys have gone out together, Jiao knows to expect some kind of wait for Zihao. For it, he’s already made himself comfortable on the other’s bed, laid out like a cat in the sunlight despite the sun being long gone. His yellow leather jacket mimics the image but it was not made for relaxation and so it lays across his hips and thighs, keeping part of him warm as he waits.
Propping himself up on his elbows, Jiao tilts his head at the options once more and hums. “The maroon is sexy, blue makes you look more rich, but you look good in either and we both know if you really wanted to pull someone in, you could do it in just a trashbag.” Throwing himself back onto the mattress, Jiao stretches his arms above his head and plays a silent game of eenie meenie miney mo before electing the blue as winner. “Can we pregame before we go? I would like a decent buzz before I have to be near water, please.”

juwonyj:
OPEN STARTER | LOCATION: ysa bounty.
the night had been mostly uneventful, even though his bartender had called out at the very last second, forcing juwon to work behind the bar in their place. he was a little rusty, but he managed. happy hour had just ended, and juwon was running around ysa bounty settling tabs. or at least he had been, until he had made the mistake of stopping in front of a familiar face. in just a matter of seconds, he had been sucked into the same round of back-and-forth that they had every time they met over the bar.
“for the last time, you have to pay for your drinks!” juwon scolded fondly, eyes narrowed in a playful glare at the person in front of him. he leaned forward, supported by both of his hands on the bar that separated them. “i already gave you free food tonight out of the kindness of my heart, same as last time you were here.”
his words might have had an air of finality, but both parties knew he was probably still going to give them the free drinks. he couldn’t help it-he had a serious soft spot for his fellow residents of the sharehouse… the ones he recognized, anyway. juwon knew they all struggled in their own ways, and he enjoyed having such an easy way to make their days a little bit better. he often let them enjoy a free meal or two every once in a while. and the person standing in front of him knew it.
“i’m not letting you eat and drink me out of house and home.”
★ ▌ ”It won’t be house and home!” Jiao defends himself through a smile. "Just one drink. I promise I won’t ask for another after that. Please?” He leans forward then, trying his best to display an innocent face, as if he needed to be taken care of by his elder through alcohol of all things.
Daringly, he puts both hands on Juwon’s forearms and leans forward himself, nearly pressing his whole chest against the bar to look up at Juwon in plea. Usually, he could pay his own way through fun but he had spent a pretty penny on pills he should have never bought; they were for the night following his gig, however, he couldn’t waste them now. Now, he only wants to get a little bit tipsy, just enough to make him comfortable enough to dance the night away and sleep in the next day.
Jiao would have bartered at this point but nearly everyone at the sharehouse knows how much of a softie Juwon is. If he pouts a little bit longer, Jiao is certain he’ll give in. And maybe this is taking advantage but Jiao isn’t planning on getting wasted and is it really that big a deal if Juwon gives in to nearly everyone? Jiao is just playing his cards right and it’s not as if he does this often. Just, on the nights when he actions have been led by the thrill rather than his finances.

𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 @yjxjiao
𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐔𝐏 𝐁𝐄𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐃 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏𝐒, hana struggled to match pace with the heels she wore and all the cracked, uneven pavement. carefully, she managed to stand adjacent of the other individual, glancing to her left as her arms cross over her chest. “can you at least tell me where we are going?” she questioned, still clueless as the two abruptly left the bar the two were comfortable chatting at. that could be another reason as to why she was struggling to catch up with jiao considering she was already a bit tipsy with the alcohol imbibed. “are we going to a bakery? because a croissant sounds really good right now, especially if there’s chocolate in it. don’t you want a croissant, jiao?”
she sighed when realizing the two were still walking, glancing to the side yet again to observe him. “i am having fun, by the way. you are fun to talk to. so, thank you for dragging me out tonight. hopefully you don’t ruin it now by taking me to some spooky graveyard or some place weird.”
★ ▌ Laughter bubbles from deep within Jiao’s chest as Hana rambles on. Just like his partner, he’s tipsy and giddy and the night air feels refreshing and exhilarating. Truth be told, he had previously had a destination in mind but as he had gotten swept up in the night’s breeze, he seems to have forgotten just where he was taking his new friend. But, rather than out himself, he slows his pace and falls into step with his companion. At her words, he preens and throws an arm around her shoulders. With more strength than intended given his state, pulls Hana into a side hug in gratitude. He doesn’t let her go as they walk and he hums one of his mixes as he thinks of just what places may still be open at such a late hour.
“I promise not to take you to a spooky graveyard. At least, not until I know I can make it to the end if we enter a horror movie. Right now, the odds are in your favor so, not a chance,” he laughs. “Mm, but food sounds good right now. Ah! We should stop by a corner store! Bakeries are probably closed but cookies. We can make cookies.” He gasps suddenly and twists his body to face her. “Or brownies. Oh my god, chocolate,” he groans. “Hana, let’s make brownies at home. Maybe... ones with a special kick?” he asks, hopeful despite knowing simply dragging her out had been a feat of its own.

EXT. SOMEWHERE AROUND YONGSA - DAY — open for anyone
it was hard to be pocket-sized. however, the great distance that the pair have accumulated from each other was partly her fault as she was a one curious being. every thing that strikes her fancy, she takes a moment to gander at it. yongsa was like a wonderland to her and she was alice. she almost skipped towards the other just to catch up. once she managed to match her counterpart’s pace, her interest grew on the mysterious destination she was promised. perhaps it was uttered earlier, but the mention of a new adventure had her feet already running. still, she needed to sate the meddling thought in her mind.
“where are we going again?”
★ ▌ “Bamdokkaebi Night Market. I think we’ve crossed paths nearly everywhere else but there. So, I thought, what better place to take my new friend than to a place we haven’t been to together yet?” Excitement coats the whole of Jiao’s words and while they are true, they lack some factuality. Of course, they both seemed to have visited Club Arena and YSA Bounty, but simply existing in the same space at the same time did not mean ‘going together’. Nonetheless, Jiao has not been to the night market is a good few weeks and as their friendship is only just at its introduction, he wanted to give her more options than simply drinking and dancing. “ We’re early but there’s some sort of street concert tonight. I think it’s a cover band but I hear they’re really good. We could get some food and go listen?”

yjseoks:
his gaze lingered for a moment in the direction he had rudely discarded the other’s cigarette, and jonas became utterly aware of how awkward and sudden the action had been. a thought entered his mind on whether or not he should get up to stomp it out; before he could spare another moment entertaining the thought, however, his neighbor seemed to have found his voice.
“ smoking is kind of gross, ” there was a gut reaction to apologize for doing what he did, but instead he went on speaking nonsense instead. “ you’ll thank me later — or, your lungs will. i can’t imagine you’d want to thank someone who did that, but who knows… ” his sentence trailed, and his fingers began to drum against his thigh, if only to remind him of what he had stored in his pocket. “ gum? ”
★ ▌ “Um, no. I would rather have my cigarette.” The words lack heat as confusion continues to linger in his tone; they carry some irritation but Jiao is mostly surprised by just how bold the other had been. Huffing and not one to make a scene over something so trivial, Jiao takes out his pack and shakes out another cigarette. He plays with it between his fingers, flipping it around before trying to justify himself.
“I’m a skinny smoker. My lungs probably don’t care that much but if you do, you should probably take a few steps or just go sit on the other side. If you want to talk-” He stops and takes out his phone, fiddling with the touchscreen until his number is on full display. “Go sit over there and call me.” He raises a brow, silently questioning what he would like to do because Jiao doesn’t smoke often but when he does, he likes to think it’s for a reason -- stress relief, mostly.

minsooyj:
status › open. location › main building.
with his air pods securely tucked into his ears, minsoo wiggled around to the new carly rae album, clothes hamper held in his grasp as he made his way down to the laundry room in the main building. he’d like to say that he spent ALL of his sunday’s like this– doing his laundry and cleaning up like a good boy– but doing laundry on a regular schedule wasn’t a normal thing for him, really. if anything, he had the tendency to wait until the last possible second before throwing an obnoxiously large load into an open washing machine. it wasn’t really the most PRACTICAL method, but minsoo was never really known for being a “practical” person to begin with.
that being said, just two weeks after doing his last load of laundry, minsoo was already back doing his next– mostly because his mom sent him a few reminders this morning after noticing him repeating one of his t-shirts in a few of his vlogs last week ( he really needed to get her to stop watching his videos at some point )– but he figured it counted for something at the very least.
humming along to the lyrics, minsoo’s far too distracted to notice the stray sock someone else must’ve dropped on their way to the laundry room. and maybe it wouldn’t have been much of an issue if minsoo’s ass didn’t seem to attract hardwood floors at every single clumsy opportunity offered to him… but it did. which means he busted his ass on the ground as soon as his foot slid across the lone straggler, causing him to upend his laundry basket over himself and the floor surrounding him.
he hated that his first thought was ‘i should’ve been vlogging this.’
★ ▌ A hiss escapes Jiao’s lips as he hears the other man’s fall. Were he less hungover, he probably would have laughed - obnoxiously, even as he helped Minsoo up. But, Saturday night had proved itself brutal and Jiao, ever foolish, had not taken the proper precautions to save himself a flipping stomach and a straining headache. Setting down his own dirty laundry, Jiao begins to collect most of the clothing that had managed to bury Minsoo. Then, he extends a hand to help him up. He couldn’t see the cause of the chaos but his own ass has had its own fair share of meetings with the hardwood floor so he knows the collision hadn’t been fun.
Tossing the bundle he’s collected back into Minsoo’s hamper, Jiao rolls his shoulders and then awkwardly attempts to figure out what he wants to say. Of course, their relationship is strained and on occasion, Jiao finds himself irritated by the other simply by his existence, but he doesn’t hate him or want him hurt. Although, as mentioned before, he would have laughed had his body properly recovered.
“Be careful,” he huffs instead. “How will you end up holding a camera if you break your arm?”

★ ▌ closed. ★ ▌ with @yjseoks. ★ ▌ at the patio outside the main building.
Bewilderment -- it is etched across every inch of Jiao’s features; in the furrow of his brow, the width of his eyes, and the slight part of his lips. Jiao is perplexed and uncertain, whether he should be upset, or thankful, or some other elusive emotion that could allow him to fully comprehend what just happened. One minute he was enjoying his first cigarette in weeks and the next, one of his neighbors was asking for a puff only to toss the his lit cigarette aside.
“What--” Jiao interrupted himself to finally look his neighbor in the eye and still, he could not determine exactly what he was feeling or wanted to say. Instead, his brain seemed to opt for a neutral, “What just happened?”

yjxjinwoo:
As he crossed the threshold into the kitchen, Jinwoo’s face instantly broke out into a wide grin at the sound of Jiao’s voice. The playful comment didn’t deter or wound him in the slightest. Instead, he picked up his pace, quickly crossing the kitchen and throwing his arms around Jiao’s shoulders, pressing as much of his damp body and wet suit against his roommate as possible. “I crossed the sea and grew legs just for you,” he teased, jerking his head back and forth dramatically to send a mist of water spraying from his hair.
He released Jiao, quickly plucked a piece of egg off his spoon of fried rice and popped it into his mouth before retreating to the other side of the kitchen. He leaned against the refrigerator and crossed his arms over his bare chest, head tilting curiously. It was odd to see Jiao conscious and functioning so early in the day which could only mean one thing. “You were out pretty late,” he said with a smirk. “Or did you just get back?”
With a wink, he leaned away from the refrigerator and turned to pull the door open, hoping that Jiao had left something decently edible behind.
★ ▌ “You’re disgusting,” Jiao groaned, all dramatics but no malice as he had grown accustomed to his friend’s affection and antics. Granted, Jiao truly was not a fan of being wet so, like a cat avoidant of water, he squirmed but didn’t dare much else lest his breakfast end up a mess on the floor. Huffing, he allowed Jinwoo a taste of his food but followed his friend to the other side of the kitchen with intention. Jinwoo had earned himself a kick to the ass by the flat top of Jiao’s foot. The hit wasn’t enough to tip Jinwoo over but just enough for the contact to make a sound as Jinwoo rummaged through the fridge. With his revenge achieved, Jiao rested his lower back against the counter and ate another spoonful before answering.
“Just got back and that’s all you need to know because, clearly, I am a gentleman. Also, occasionally, I need to make sure people don’t think we’re conjoined twins,” he huffed, amusement hinting at his words. “And you? You decided to keep being a productive human being and wake up too early just to keep your hot swimmer bod? God, you’re going to look good even when you’re sixty and I’ll look like your grandfather.”

yjtaemin:
taemin was stood outside of the game store’s window. his eyes looking at the new console that has just come out. he had been anticipating the release of it for months. he really wished that he was able to afford it but he would have to work so many hours at the flower shop to even get a chance to afford that. he had bills to pay, food to eat ( he has an unhealthy habit of always eating out ), and bus tickets to pay for. “ i wish i didn’t have responsibilities, ” he muttered to himself. his face was practically squished against the glass. if he would have snapped out of it, he would be embarrassed and be quick to leave.
the game put him in a trance, one that a witch would cast on someone who defied her. it was like the game was pulling him in. bystanders were probably laughing at him at this point. he turned to a random stranger passing by “ why do they make these systems so expensive and then they charge so much for the games you can actually play on them? it makes no sense, “ his lips once neutral soon turned into a pout, he seemed like a whining kid. all over a stupid gaming console.
★ ▌ Surprise renders itself over Jiao’s face. He had not been expecting the man he had been eyeing for nearly a good minute to suddenly turn and address him. Yes, Jiao had been staring since he had caught sight of him across the street. Yes, it was rude to stare and yes, perhaps Jiao had begun to question the man’s mentality but, to be so quickly ‘called out’, he felt like a fish out of water. Before he could compose himself, he realized the man’s attention was far more focused on the gaming console than it was on any passerbys and their opinions.
As the man already had already gained his attention, Jiao paused and shifted his gaze towards the item. Jiao, never the sort interested in video games aside from drunken Mario Party nights, then wondered just how fun the system could be to have enchanted his neighbor so avidly. With a lift of his brow, Jiao turned his head to look at the other’s profile. Carefully, he studied his features before looking back at the desired item. “You could always steal it.”

yjxjinwoo:
Jinwoo leaned his surfboard against the side of the house and unwound a coil of garden hose from the hanging rack. With his free hand, he tugged at the long pull cord of his wetsuit, the zipper giving way easily and splitting the suit open down the length of his back. He did his best to rinse the sand from his body and feet before entering the sharehouse, leaving the top half of the wetsuit hanging down around his waist. He was starving, as was usually the case after an early morning out on the waves, and as he headed towards the kitchen he wondered if he’d find any unmarked leftovers in the fridge that he could pillage. His feet slapped against the wooden floor leaving a trail of wet footprints marking his way.
He had class in two hours and then he was on duty at the beach for the afternoon. In between that, he hoped to sneak in a nap, a second meal and maybe - but probably not - finishing his paper for Environmental Criminology. The evening was still wide open for him to spend as he pleased - and that usually included some combination of meat, beer and socializing.
★ ▌ If Jiao believed in soulmates, he would claim no doubts in Jinwoo and himself being a perfect set. Even as the pair had spent nearly an entire night apart, they still somehow found a way to each other. Case in point, Jiao had already pillaged the fridge Jinwoo had thought to explore.
Following a night in a stranger’s bed, Jiao thought it better to have a small meal before fixing himself up for a day full of rest. He had no plans in leaving his shared room before four in the afternoon and had he made it to the sharehouse the night prior, he never would have made an appearance at such an early hour. but, fate had allowed the night owl an opportunity to mingle with his friend before their more than likely reunion later in the day.
As Jinwoo came into sight, Jiao couldn’t help the small spark of joy upon seeing his roommate already up and unknowingly stumbling into Jiao’s company. Spooning leftover fried rice into his mouth, Jiao welcomed Jinwoo into the kitchen with a cheeky, “I thought someone had leftover fish in here - turns out it’s just you, Mermaid.”
