I've legit had this question but what does one do when they have a Pokemon fic and they start out in one region with one starter and then they get to another region but their starter isn't in that Pokedex? Like an Ash and Pikachu thing where he's traveling around with Pikachu all the time but what if Pikachu isn't in a reigon's Pokedex kind of? What happens do you think?

I'm pretty sure that's what the national dex is for. Otherwise I would guess it comes up saying that the information is not found. Tbh pokedex's should have software updates like phones or consoles so that new Pokémon can just be added that way for all trainers to update and have the info
