bad timing

when i first met you, i hated you.

i had such strong feelings, but i didn’t even know you.

it was my instinct preparing me to run.

because my higher self knew that you’d be no good.

and i didn’t want you anyway, “you weren’t even cute”.

then you stood close to me and i felt these sparks.

i dismissed the electricity as loneliness.

but you persisted to be close to me.

i ignored your advances out of naivety. 

and i thought you were so silly, when you said you could never be mine

because “it just isn’t the right time.”

so i kept pushing you away.

but then you kissed me, and the sparks ignited.

your touch felt like home, and my body craved to be near.

“i’m in lust” i lied.

cause i knew you would never be mine.

but there’s more, i just couldn’t get you off my mind.

that’s when i realized, 

 i fell in love at a really bad time.
