{ a bark of laughter-- he's thankful, no doubt about it but he can't help tease. }
"And here I thought the good folk of-- Hobbiton? were a truthful lot. How deluded I've been; deceived."
{ unwilling to let her do the work herself, kili pushes himself to his knees to pick up the bigger shards to carefully carry to dispose. }
( it’s surprisingly pretty high actually. especially when something prized is damaged. like a tomatoe patch or rose bushes.
For someone who doesn’t normally raise his voice often Bilbo has a surprisingly stern voice when he’s angry She followed the dwarfs example when Bilbo scolded them in turn, expressing how deeply disappointed in them he was When Bilbo finally gave them a curt ‘See to it’. Gilli knew it’s as much of a dismissal as bilbo will ever give. )
( her fingers had just wrapped around a broom when she heard his question. Her lips curled upward as she turned back to him with a shrug. )
“Oh that? I might have lied.”

ladyaurerieloflothlorien:
Not far off from the young dwarf’s camp, was a young elf maiden watching the same stars he was. She watched the star twinkle and shine. they reminded her the shine of her home. Lothlorien. She sighed as she gently played with the necklace around her pale and slender neck. She had been making her way home when she felt a pull that stopped her. She felt drawn to something but she didnt know what. She sighed again as she started to singing to make her not feel so alone. Her lovely and angelic voice carried over to the dwarven camp.
{ how could anyone miss the sound-- it was ethereal, unlike the bass notes dwarves carried with them as they sung of home. kili startled, looking around before catching his uncle's eye. before thorin could say anything, kili offered to check it out. just peek around a tree-- if elves were there, they would be quiet and figure out a different course of action. no harm done. at his agreement, kili snuck away, coming up to... one? human? no not human. elf-maiden. }
"Pardon the interruption, quite dangerous to be out here all by yourself, isn't it?"

❝ Lucky you. ❞
( steps are taken forwards, and a hand once again pressed on soft motion to the younger’s shoulder — this time, it doesn’t last much, for the same hand is used to make a gesture for the other to follow, as the opposite one searches for the car’s keys. ; & so off they go. — only to arrive to the bar bit less than 15 min later. ) ❝ So, what should we ask for? The most expensive thing they got, or — ?❞
{ you're lucky kili decides to keep any other gestures to himself. instead, he follows, head ducking inside the car and not saying much besides the quiet 'called it' when he saw the slight traffic they have to face. it didn't take as long as he had feared but long enough for his impatient and thirsty self. }
"Whatever they've got on tap is fine for me. You can order your fancy drinks. And chips too, yeah?"

❝ Ah— You’re a saint! ❞
( mockery seems to slip through the words, as a bright, white smile is offered. the elder sister’s hands lift quickly, placing themselves at the brunette’s cheeks so they could apply a certain pressure — then, she moved so her lips would meet the other’s forehead. all, of course, joined by the sound of an amused laugh. ) ❝ I'll make sure not to mention your dislike for the food. Bombur would not be pleased, that much I can say. Now go, hurry ! The faster we get to sleep, the faster better. ❞
{ the easy display of affection would hve caused a blush on her cheek but this was her sister and kili always made exceptions for her-- even when she was being overbearing and protective, just like mother! }
"You're the best, Fili-- even when you don't make sense."
{ but that's just the sleep deprivation, probably. with a wink, she scoots off, setting out their bedrolls on the dry ground behind one of their logs, hidden from the winds. The bustle of the camp had died down, everybody getting ready for their own nighttime rituals and Kili spreads out, the weight of the day finally catching up. she's not sure how long had passed for her eyes had fallen close and slumber stole her away. }

orcxslayer:
Thorin forced himself to bite back the bubble of laughter that threatened to break free. He didn’t want to embarrass his nephew. Besides, he hadn’t been able to get in a saddle on his own when he was Kili’s age. He should have thought of getting a bale of hay for Kili to stand on. “Next time I’ll fetch you something to stand on.” He informed his nephew before giving his foot a nudge to force him over the rest of the way.
”Once you’re comfortable just give a click of your tongue and a very soft nudge of your boots right here.” Thorin instructed, and moved Kili’s foot up a little bit to show him the proper spot. “Any farther back and he’ll take off on you.” Before Kili could tell the pony to go Thorin adjusted the straps on his stirrups to a shorter length so his feet wouldn’t fall out. “Go ahead whenever you’re ready. If he does happen to go too fast for you, just pull back, but not up, on the reins and tell him ‘whoa’, and he’ll stop.”
Embarrassment flooded his cheeks as he heard his uncle snicker, or try to hide a snicker, behind his hands. He wished he was bigger, he wished he was stronger and he wished he was taller. By Mahal, did he wish he as taller. Still, with the grim determination of a babe, Kili pretended he was not red around the ears and let his Uncle push him up, barely a sound escaping him even as he let out a surprised little oof! at the weird feeling of riding on a pony.
"Are you sure you don't want to ride too, Uncle? We can race!" He suggested, as he watched the other fiddle with buckles and straps. He wiggled a bit more, trying to find a comfortable spot which wasn't easy because his legs had to be in a certain position to nudge the pony into moving. His thighs flexed and he bit his lip. "Watch, I'l be faster than the wind-- c'mon girl!" Little Kili cried out as he tapped his foot against its flank, getting it to bray and kick off into a quick gallop.
"Faster faster!" He called out and it obeyed. His unruly hair flew ever which way-- Kili whooped and laughed and realized he didn't know how to turn. Brown eyes widened, the fence was growing closer and closer, his lips trembled. and he tugged the reins back. "Stop, please! Whoah? Stop!" He squeezed his eyes shut and braced for impact that never came.
"Whew. Uncle did you see that!"

Disease in Middle Earth
First, off, the elves never get sick. It’s one of the benefits of being an elf (they can, however, be affected by strong poisons.) So, when discussing illness in Middle Earth, keep in mind that these illnesses would only affect mortals. (Also, for a related post, check out Medicine in Middle Earth.)
We get the feeling that illnesses and diseases must occur (first of all, why mention that elves are immune, if there’s nothing to be immune from. Also, the existence of the Houses of Healing in Minas Tirith suggests that, even in peace-time, there was healing to be done), but we actually hear very little about medical issues. During war, infection and poison are an issue, but “natural” illnesses are almost never mentioned. In fact, I can only think of two at the moment. At the end of The Hobbit, it’s mentioned in passing that Bilbo had a cold (so, apparently even in Middle Earth, we can’t get rid of the common cold.) The second is, in my opinion, much more fascinating.
The Great Plague (or Dark Plague) hit Middle Earth in the year 1635 of the Third Age. Though it was said to come from an “evil wind” in the east, it actually spread from Harad, south of Mordor. It decimated the populations of Gondor, Rhovanion, and Minhiriath, as well as affecting Rhun, Rohan, Enedwaith, Cardolan, and The Shire. The exact number of casualties is unknown but it’s estimated to have claimed hundreds of thousands of lives (including over half the entire population of Rhovanion.) Some of the more “famous” casualties included Telemnar, king of Gondor, and his family, as well as the last remaining Dunedain of Cardolan. The historical and political implications of the plague were huge, but I won’t get in to them here (but just know that they were huge.)
Frustratingly enough, we really don’t know anything about the Great Plague as a disease - we don’t know the symptoms, or how it was treated, etc. But I’d imagine that it probably wasn’t your average plague, and many people believed that it was actually caused by Sauron himself.
SOURCES: LOTR, LOTR Appendices, The Hobbit, The Unfinished Tales (“Cirion and Eorl”)
((The map is an excerpt from Karen Wynn Fonstad’s Atlas of Middle Earth, and shows which areas of Middle Earth were most affected by the Great Plague.))

( why, you make it sound like he’s at least ten years older —which, excuse you, he is not—. he’s merely acquired a bit more of a sense of responsibility with time. but, hey, we all know he’s still same ol’ little fili on the inside. )
❝ Since when is it wrong to have a bit of a common sense, here? ( a chuckle ) You’re about this close to get #1 brother award, aren’t ya’? C’mon then, let’s drown your sorrows in alcohol. ❞
"I'm your only brother, Philip."
{ trust Killian to cut through the entire conversation just like that-- as if it means nothing but words flying over his head. but he smiles, and in his smile is both an apology and a lighthearted tease as he jerks his head to let Fili lead the way. }
