Creature Commandos is good. Really good. Usually I like to take my time with new shows, but not this time.

That said, James Gunn clearly found a his niche in making movies about a ragtag group of rogue ex-criminals and victims of abuse...and then did it four times. And then did a cartoon about it.

As far as I know before he found this specific archetype of movie, he worked on a) horror, and b) the Scooby Doo movie. (Imagine what the Scooby Doo movie would be like if he made it like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad...)

Do we know for sure that he can write solo superhero movies? And what exactly makes him the ideal candidate to write Superman and Batman? I mean no wonder he had trouble identifying with Superman. It's not his area of expertise. Almost every project he does has some kind of body horror, even Guardians of the Galaxy.

I think people are just happy that a legitimately good writer experienced with superhero movies already is helping DC get back on its feet. I'm just surprised the guy who wrote Brightburn is writing Superman's return to form. That's some irony.

Although there is a superhero team in Superman. Maybe Gunn brought in The Terrifics (is Guy Gardner on that team? I'm not familiar with it) in order to lean on his familiar formula of wacky rogues just a little bit. I can see him bridging the gap between his niche and this return to classic Superman by writing about his typical, jaded old superhero team encountering a new superhero competely outside of their context: innocent, straightforward, full of good intentions. They frustrate themselves because they can't figure out how to corrupt this new guy, how to convince him that being a hero isn't all about truth and justice, but sometimes there's blood and gore. And then over the course of the movie, it's Superman that changes their minds, that maybe they lost sight of what is truly means to be a hero.

Sort of like a longer version of Peter Quill bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy together. Only with a lot more inspiration and pathos, because it's Superman.

I literally just saw Nosferatu and my brain is plagued by visions of writing a creature commandos fic where Amanda Waller secretly promises Rick's sweet lover to the vampir for his assistance on a mission

I may hate everytime Eric (Frankenstein) pulls up on screen, but I have to say, him saying “she’s everyone’s type…and so are you 😭😭” truer words have never been spoken.

I saw nosferatu today and let me tell you whatever hype you’re seeing about it, it isn’t enough. The movie was an absolute masterpiece, I won’t accept any bad reviews about it. I am still speechless.

I HATE HATE HATE all of the white takes on Ginny and Georgia.

“I would’ve loved it if my mom killed the man who touched me inappropriately :)” THATS GREAT!! WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE?

Impersonating and destroying a credit score? Being racist, no matter how unknowingly. Tackling Ginny when she found out about her self-harm? Forcing Ginny to move and move and move and refusing to ask for any help from her father and, if anything, being one of the reasons why Ginny hasn’t had a relationship with half of her family in the past

Yall do NOT LIKE when Black women speak up for themselves. Yall do not like when Black women try to “taint” the name of your favourite white woman who somehow is the definition of feminism all the time.

Not that I know death all that intimately, but these people who say things like the death was justified do not KNOW not just death, but MURDER. These people only ever see some fun and “justified” killing on TV, and that’s IT. Who gives Georgia the right to play god?

I respect Georgia and I know Ginny has messed up time and time again but the way some people talk about Ginny actually makes me realize yall truly do not LIKE or CARE about Black women unless they are exactly who you want them to be.

Dont get me started on the Hunter vs Marcus thing because it’s REAL SIMILAR!!!
