There should be an option to make a fanfiction open source. Like once you decide you can't write it anymore, just hit open source, and others can continue your story on their own pages, and they'd all be linked to the original fic, so readers can read the various endings people came up with. Imagine seeing all the different interpretations of the same fic. They could range from a heartwrenching literary masterpiece to the most bizarre fever dream you've ever experienced.

It would be like fanfiction of fanfiction. It would be messy but it would be beautiful.
