A woman went viral for being turned down for a next interview for a role, she asks the recruiter what she did wrong, the recruiter tells her they were “concerned about her lack of effort in her appearance.”
She explains she wore a freshly ironed blazer with a collared top. Her nails were painted a professional beige. She got a blowout for her hair, so a professional style. She had on subdued gold earrings.
The only thing she wasn’t wearing was makeup; she states she really doesn’t wear makeup, and only had chapstick on, as her skin is sensitive. Her lawyer mother has already explained she has no legal case against the company for any type of gender-based discrimination.
Just in case anyone wants to ask why feminists still refer to the “pink tax” or rail against more and more elaborate makeup trends being pushed on girls and women.
Women being punished socially for not wearing makeup is still a feminist issue.

So obviously I like season 3 much more than I liked season 2, now that I've had more time to sit on the season, it's made me wonder if we really needed season 2? Season 3 did a bit better in areas season 2 did not do well in. It explored our 5 main characters and explored the social issues (classism, racism, homophobia) this story is trying to criticize in more depth. They could have delved so much more into these issues if they started exploring these issues more explicitly from season 2, instead of focusing on a lot of juvenile issues in season 2. Like they could have delved more into the OTHER awful legacies of the monarchy, as well as the fact that it traps Wilhelm and doesn't give him a choice. They could have touched more on the class system, racism, and homophobia. It felt like they started exploring a lot of these real issues in season 3, but couldn't go further because of time restrictions. If they had started earlier we could have had a more impactful three seasons. I really feel like the strictly *necessary* parts of season 2 could have been soooo condensed. But I'm glad that at least season 3 was a step up- a lot of the criticisms for season 3 honestly seem to be rooted in the issues carried over from season 2.

Just rewatched the finale, Wille for real looks so much younger once he gave up being the heir. Like it was instant, he just became a young kid again. It was so symbolic, how his entire demeanor changed, he was slowly "aging" and being crushed under the monarchy, but once he is free, he is himself again :')

What I will say about Omar's goodbye/coming out post...He is an icon, and he IS the moment.

well damn, I had so many posts lined up for today but Omar's goodbye post has me in tears instead. This is also the first time he's "come out" in this direct manner, so proud of him. It has been clear he has always had a deeper connection and understanding of this story and Simon because of his own identity (also to anyone who feels he is not "eloquent"- he IS when it is needed. And this is why we shouldn't mock people for taking their time or choosing their words carefully, clearly this is a big moment for him). He is such an inspiration. I am so grateful y'all.

y'all let Omar keep his short+sweet captions, instead of long sentimental ones, if he wants to! not everyone expresses emotions the same- besides, he has been the LOUDEST about promo for young royals this last year, and if you've seen him speak about young royals whenever he is asked about it, you can tell how much it means to him. He loves Simon and young royals y'all, he has spoken about it beautifully on numerous occasions. (and we saw the doc, homeboy is very attached to simon, this show is his baby bffr)

ok back with more thoughts, standout performances for the finale episode are Malte, Nikita, and Omar (one thing we can't ever say about this show is that it doesn't have an immensely talented cast- each of them have shined so much in different episodes, truly). August's breakdowns, the crying, the feeling of new beginnings while trying to forgive yourself, the realization he is the heir now? Malte played those complexities, and the rawness of August's emotions, perfectly. Felice was literally GLOWING, I couldn't take my eyes off how Nikita conveyed Felice's newfound freedom, her loving personality, her excitement for the future, and Felice's sensitive soul. Omar's portrayal of Simon's heartbreak, Simon's happy crying at the end, the relief he felt...I really was just crying along with him. You could feel exactly what Simon was feeling just by looking at his eyes. We really got lucky with this cast.

Can we give Omar Rudberg all the awards for season 3? I have been screaming about Omar's acting this whole season but I need to do it again after the finale. Simon in that last scene BROKE me. Final scenes, especially one like that one, are so hard to carry. Simon's relieved crying, the shock, the disbelief, the EUPHORIA? The HOPE? Omar DELIVERED, helped give young royals the epic ending it deserved. What a talent, especially for his first EVER acting role.

I know we as a fandom/Lisa have discussed how parentification is a huge part of why Simon is the way he is- how he takes of everyone (and the adults like Linda let him), his sister, Wille, his dad before, etc- and why that is unhealthy, because Simon is just a 16 year old. This scene, Simon tells Linda that he has taken care of his older sister since childhood. I feel like we started to see Linda step it up this season, which I am grateful for, and this face is a moment where she starts to realize she needs to step up.

Thought this quote from Lisa could be helpful for some people- Simon did try to adjust to the monarchy (even though he shouldn't have had to, but for the crowd that thinks Simon didn't "understand" Wille's pressure), but the problem wasn't Simon. Simon could have done everything, but the problem was with Wille and his family. It was a situation that wasn't working, Simon wasn't getting the support he needed within the relationship, and Wille's issues weren't about Simon, it was his parents and the monarchy as an institution. That breakup needed to happen for them to come back together.

Omar saying this about what Simon is thinking when Wille runs after him is making me think of the scene where Simon says Sara is right to not want to see Micke- and Sara tells Simon he is brave for giving second chances and loving people even when they're not perfect. Simon needed to hear that his quality of being such a loving person is actually revolutionary (it clearly was for Wille). And Simon hearing that probably makes him realize that he wants to give Wille another chance when Wille runs after the car...and this time Wille proved to Simon giving that extra chance was all worth it.

feeling very proud of Wille for breaking free of his family and doing what is best for him (and for the people he loves)...it's really not easy to break free from literal family

will be back with more thoughts now that we have the whole season, but to keep tradition, here is a bunch of screencaps of Simon looking squish in the finale (which was all the time). Ex crown prince Wille I too would give up the crown for Simon and run after a car with Simon in it you're not special.
