Brian Cage def. Sydal to win the X Division Championship at Slammiversary XVI
Matt Sydal could not defeat his rival and continue adding days as champion. Brian Cage becomes the X Division champion and wins his first championship in Impact. Combat begins with a slight struggle between the two that makes Cage soon dominate and beat Sydal in the corner and ends with a chokeslam. Sydal leaves the ring and Cage challenges him to climb to what Sydal gets under the ring and appears behind Cage to start hitting him repeatedly on his leg. Sydal applies several chops to Cage and manages to throw him to the other corner. He follows Sydal's punishment on Cage's leg until Cage throws him out of the ring and throws him against the barricade. to then throw it against the apron of the ring. Cage goes up to the corner but Sydal hits him in the leg and Cage drops to Sydal to apply a dropkick in the corner and Cage out of the ring to what Sydal is thrown by running knee over Cage. Sydal hits Cage's leg again and returns to the ring where Sydal applies a lock to Cage on the ropes to apply a standing moonsault from Cage and applies a DDT. Cage hits him with everything in the corner and throws him to the other pair to abuse the count that remains in 2. Sydal hits Cage's leg again but he invests with a piledriver. Find the count that remains in 2. Now, Sydal is still focused on Cage's leg and looks for the count that remains in 2. Sydal goes to the corner and prepares the shooting star press that Cage invests to apply a chokeslam followed by the count that remains in 2. In the same way, Sydal impresses Cage with a hurricane ending in a count that remains in 2. In the same way, Sydal rises again to the cornerback. And it jumps on Cage that intercepts it but Sydal impresses with a roll-up that remains in 2. Running Knee of Sydal and now applies the shooting star press but Cage invests. And he applies the piledriver to win the match. .@MrGMSI_BCage just caught Matt Sydal out of the air! #SlamXVI pic.twitter.com/rVM6z7F4SR — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) July 23, 2018 Read the full article

Tessa Blanchard Reportedly signed a 2-year contract with Impact Wrestling
Two weeks ago, Impact Wrestling announced the hiring of Tessa Blanchard as part of the Knockouts division. The agreement was considered long-lasting and in the last edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that it has a duration of 2 years. Blanchard has been in the focus of companies like WWE, having participated in the first women's tournament Mae Young Classic, where there were some rumors about his attitude that generated discomfort. In the following months, the fighter continued working on the independent circuit and later joined the Impact Wrestling where she ended up signing the contract whose duration is now known, confirming that Blanchard will not be one of the possible participants of the second Mae Young Classic. In recent months Impact Wrestling has been responsible for renewing their ranks by making several contracts from the independent scene. In particular, the company has seen a renewal in its division of women with contracts such as Blanchard, Su Yung and more recently Scarlett Bordeaux, which will debut next Thursday. Lars Sullivan returns to the NXT ring after his jaw injury
NXT recovers one of its most powerful fighters, Lars Sullivan returned to the ring at a live event in Florida. He comes back after almost a month and a half away from it due to a jaw injury has done during his NXT Championship match against Aleister Black in the past TakeOver in Chicago. We remember that Sullivan won his chance for the brand's maximum belt after sweeping all his rivals during the weekly NXT shows. At the end of the match against Black, the champion connected his finisher, Black Mass, twice to win. Later, it was reported that Sullivan broke his jaw. After a timeout of television to recover, Sullivan got back into a ring after a month and a half in the live event of NXT held yesterday in the town of Ocala, Florida. @LarsSWWE is the winner tonight at #NXTOcala pic.twitter.com/KEiETRyFS0 — Kevin Brakley (@drkside20) July 21, 2018 The giant did not take long to re-demonstrate his strength and his physical portent and is that he won comfortably and a few minutes to Dan Matha applying his finisher, the Freak Accident. With this return to the live event, Sullivan could soon return to television, presumably after NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV next month. However, do not rule out that Sullivan is one of the fighters that go directly to the main roster after Summerslam, as has been rumored in recent months. Read the full article

Impact Wrestling Slammiversary XVI Preview (7/22)
Impact Wrestling will make its big PPV of the year, and its second PPV of 2018, next July 22 at the Rebel Complex in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Slammiversary XVI will have a full stadium since at the beginning of this week the company itself announced that the "sold out" posters were hung, meaning that tickets are no longer available to attend the event. On this weekend, the company itself has announced that they will have some limited tickets to attend the show due to the demand of fans. Below, we will analyze the combats that are presented on the card of the PPV. IMPACT WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Austin Aries (c) vs. Moose After Austin Aries unified the Impact World Championship and the Impact Grand Championship. He proclaimed himself as the Undisputed Champion of Impact Wrestling. Eli Drake and Moose were the last fighters who were in their sights and both fought where Moose was victorious and then he won the opportunity to face Austin Aries in Slammiversary. In all these weeks we have seen press conferences and face to face where Aries has been very convinced, but in the last show of Impact Aries tried to gamble it to Moose attacking him from the back but was overtaken by his rival. Will we have a new world champion in Slammiversary? KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Su Yung (c) vs. Madison Rayne Madison Rayne returned to Impact and maintained a small rivalry with Tessa Blanchard from which she emerged victoriously. After defeating Taya in an Impact show, the five-time Knockouts champion said he came back with a mission and was to win the championship once again. From there, the fight against Su Yung in Slammiversary became official when the champion accepted the challenge of Madison Rayne. In these last weeks, Su Yung has been playing psychologically with Madison Rayne attacking him and making mental games in the forest, in such a way so that Madison arrives at Slammiversary as unstable as possible. INTERNATIONAL 4-WAY MATCH: Rich Swann vs. Johnny Impact vs. "Bone Soldier" Ishimori vs. Phoenix Johnny Impact and Ishimori return to Impact Wrestling after having spent many weeks off the television. And what a way to return that in the great Slammiversary event where four of the best fighters will face each other. Although this fight has no rivalry, it is a great combat for the exhibition. The fight may be affected in the face of the injury that Rich Swann suffered recently. MASK vs. HAIR MATCH: Pentagon Jr. vs. Sami Callihan Sami Callihan and oVe have a new victim on hand and is the former Impact World Champion Pentagon Jr. After weeks of clashes between the two, in an independent show, Sami and Pentagon were confronted in a Steel Cage where Sami took the mask off Pentagon, and from there he launched the Pentagon challenge of the mask against hair in the purest Mexican style. In recent weeks Sami and oVe have been destroying independent wrestlers thus threatening Pentagon until in this previous show Pentagon Jr. has made clear his intentions for this fight. X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: Matt Sydal (c) vs. Cage After Cage faced Matt Sydal for the championship in an Impact show and the fight was interrupted by the intervention of Kongo Kong. Cage ended his small rivalry with Kongo Kong to finally refocus on Matt Sydal and the X-Division championship and Cage said he did not want another opportunity in an Impact show, if not in Slammiversary where he will win the championship and return the prestige to division X. 5150 STREET FIGHT: LAX (Ortiz and Santana) with Konnan vs. The OGz Hernandez and Homicide with King Since King joined the LAX group under Konnan's absence, this brought a change to the Impact Tag Team Champions. Since the return of Konnan, he distrusted from the first moment of King and his intentions and created many conflicts in the group, until finally the internal war in LAX broke out and King formed OGz with the return of the original LAX, Homicide and Hernandez. Konnan finally agreed to fight between both tag teams at Slammiversary with the stipulation 5150 Street Fight. HOUSE OF HARDCORE MATCH: Eddie Edwards vs. Tommy Dreamer Eddie Edwards has become what he wanted to destroy, and it's in the reflection of Sami Callihan. That is why he blames Tommy Dreamer after costing him his fight against Sami himself as he ended up fleeing because of him. Eddie Edwards heel turn and now he appears for all the promotions and for the Impact shows attacking all the fighters with objects and destroying them because he feels more extreme than ever, but his biggest victim has been Tommy Dreamer, who ended up challenging him a House of Hardcore match at Slammiversary where both want to close a chapter of their rivalry. Allie vs. Tessa Blanchard This rivalry is born after an attack by Tessa Blanchard on Allie in a tag team match. Tessa could not stand the return of Allie or even help Madison Rayne in her fight when she faced her. In the last weeks, both have been showing their differences and in Slammiversary they will face each other to show who is more prepared to position themselves as a next contender for the Knockouts Championship. On this possible second announcement, there would already be news. The Twitter user @BeltFanDan, wrestling championship belt specialist and who reported what the new WWE belts would be like, has confirmed that one of Stephanie McMahon's announcements will be that and that the belts are already made and designed . The new WWE Women's Tag Team Championship belts are done. White straps. Part of Stephanie's announcement on Raw. — BeltFanDan (@BeltFanDan) July 20, 2018 In fact, the expert has added news about what the new belts would be like. The design would be very similar to that of the Raw and SmackDown tag team titles, but with changes in both the color of the strap, which would be white and in the drawing of the belt, with the largest WWE logo and two helmets of the gladiator. The belt would be like the next image, without the heads . I don't have good pics yet but this custom made in the wwe video game is a close representation pic.twitter.com/NwOKMW0EXO — BeltFanDan (@BeltFanDan) July 21, 2018 Not only that, and the specialist also would have confirmed what is the plan of WWE with the belts, make a tournament to decide the first tag team champions and that the final was made in the event that the company plans to only fighters. In addition, the belt would not belong to a single brand, but any pair of fighters from Raw, SmackDown Live, NXT and even NXT: UK could have an opportunity for it. Read the full article

WWE has just announced on its personal Twitter account that Monday Night Raw curator Stephanie McMahon will return next Monday to make a historic announcement. The announcement would have to do with the fighters and it could be an event in which they will only fight for the month of September. Not only this, but there could be other novelties such as a new title for women. This rumor had long been on the minds of WWE managers to continue supporting the women's revolution that the company began to do a few years ago and that has as examples the importance of the now and also the Mae Young Classic tournament. We will have to wait until Monday to know what will happen, but the speculation has only just begun. Read the full article

Shane McMahon will stay away from WWE for a while
SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon will be away from television for a while, according to journalist Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio. McMahon, however, remains on the list of fighters and characters of the company. Three reasons are those that Meltzer alleges the non-appearance of the McMahon's eldest son: the first is the lack of plans on the part of WWE creatives. The second, related to the first, is because the company's managers are very happy with the role of Paige as general manager and want to do a solo push to continue building his character. Finally, the third reason is that, recently, Shane has gone through the operating room. McMahon has undergone a herniated disc operation that keeps him away from the company and at full rest. The company, as the journalist explains, is reserving it for a special occasion to return to the ring and to television. Shane McMahon does not appear in any show since The Greatest Royal Rumble. Lucha Underground July 18, 2018 Results
The program begins with a review of the chapter from last week. Where four medallions were in play to qualify for the Gift of The Gods Championship. Mil Muertes and Cage starred in a brutal battle for one of the medallions that left the fans speechless. In tonight's episode, Cage will have the chance to fight for the Lucha Underground title against Pentagon Dark in the main event. In addition, Johnny Mundo will face Vibora and we will have news of the Gift of The Gods Championship with a spectacular real battle to determine who would not be in the fight next week. Dezmond X defeats Paul London in the first match of the night. It's Dezmond's debut in LU and also the return of London with his band, The Rabbit Tribe. First part dominated by London that prevented demonstrating the qualities of his rival. But as it went on, Dezmond X used his arsenal of jumps and spectacular moves to defeat him with a roll-up. Antonio Cueto appears to congratulate Dezmond X for being the final competitor for the Gift Of The Gods fight next week. Cueto said that next week will be epic because of all the fighters who will be in the fight. Then it was time for everyone to leave and place their Ancient Aztec Medallions in the places they occupy in the title. Dragon Azteca Jr, King Horn, Ivelisse, Dezmond X, Son Of Havoc, The Mack, and Thousand Deaths went down, placed their medallions in the title and got into the ring. Cueto gave a surprise and announced that there will not be seven fighters, but six and that the winner of the real battle will choose who goes out. The Mack wins the Royal Battle of The Gift of the Gods. Mil Muertes started strong eliminating Dezmond X, King Horn and Ivellise. But suddenly, Son of Havoc and The Mack, champions by trios of LU, they took it and they eliminated it. They both stayed in the ring staring at each other, but in a gesture of solidarity and team, Havoc left the rope to eliminate himself. Antonio Cueto appears again and asks the winner who will not be in the fight next week. The Mack explains that he would love that many of those who are out of here, although he would not mind kicking everyone's butt, if he had to choose one, that would be Mil Muertes. Mil Muertes will not be in the fight for the title of The Gift of The Gods. Vibora defeats Johnny Mundo. Combat very moved with many interventions of Taya and Kobra Moon to favor their respective companions. Good moves, many spots and other interventions like those of Drago and Daga, which ended with a Chokers from Vibora to win. Lucha Underground leaves angry and attacked by the rest of the fighters. We go to a segment in the backstage where Jack Evans is in the dressing room and Ricky Mundo appears with his doll to tell him not to follow Johnny Mundo anymore, to which Evans leaves since he does not want to talk. The doll begins to tell things to Ricky so that he keeps turning more against Johnny Mundo. Pentagon Dark defeats Cage to RETAIN the Lucha Underground Championship. Combat in which there has been everything and the effort of both fighters has been demonstrated both inside and outside the ring. When Cage seemed to have the victory with electric chair drop and a facebuster, Pentagon left the account to flipping piledriver and then the piledriver package to win. After the fight, Pentagon showed the title to Cage and then tried to break his arm, but Cage with all his strength threw him out of the ring. Cage said it is a machine and that no one could break his arm. Read the full article

WWE confirms four new talents for the Mae Young Classic
With the second edition of the Mae Young Classic just around the corner, WWE continues to confirm new talent. On this occasion, the McMahon company has announced Tegan Nox, Deonna Purrazzo, Jessica Elaban and Reina Gonzalez as competitors that promise to exceed the expectations of fans. Some of them, as has been previously confirmed have been the latest recruit to the WWE Performance Center. "The Girl with the Brilliant Wizard" Tegan Nox (previously known as Steffanie Newell or Nixon Newell) will finally make her long-awaited debut on WWE Network. The wrestler born in Welsh Valleys (Wales) and 23 years old came to WWE last summer after being one of the best competitors in the British scene. However, his WWE career would be affected by a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament while training at the Performance Center for his debut in the first edition of the Mae Young Classic. After 10 months out of the action, Nox started competing in the live events of NXT and now will prove to have the fortune in this tournament. The American Jessica Elaban also points to the list of competitors to the tournament. This NXT rookie who arrived in May 2018 after being a university volleyball player will try to demonstrate to the Mae Young Classic fans everything she has learned from her coaches in the Performance Center. Elaban has competed as a soccer player, basketball player or even a dancer before reaching WWE but her current athletic will seek to take her to the end of the competitive quadrant.
