Happy Daughters' Day to all the daughters out there
(you know who you are)!
The parents of all of you are always kvelling with
pride (that's 'bursting' for you non-lawyers:)).
We don't need a day to celebrate our joy, pride, and
pure delight that you are ALL in this world.
Imagine a world without daughters? What a
hellscape, i need an Ativan just thinking about it.
But we have this day, thank Goddess. So, Cheers to
all You Unimaginably Precious Daughters.
Special loving shout-out to these two beauts/
daughts, Sam and Chuck. Mwah
Btw, wouldn't it be awesome if by the time some
daughters may be ready and choose to bear a child,
if she and her partner had the support of their
employer, state, city, or country to invest in our
future? The family, and bearing/rearing children?
Hope springs eternal.
Happy Daughter's Day to All the Women of the
World.
You all be daughters.
And all daughters deserve way more than a Hallmark day once a year. Like equal pay, paid family leave, and full equality no less than men.

Finland's Women-Led Government Has Equalized Family Leave: 7 Months For Each Parent Under the new policy, families are entitled to a total 14 months of paid leave. The health minister says the goal is to both improve gender equality and boost a declining birth rate. That’s Fourteen Months Fully Paid Leave.
Compare and contrast with the United States. We offer ZERO paid maternity leave to anyone. Guess who always stands in the way of paying women?

Lost your job for not getting vaccinated? You still probably won't qualify for unemployment
"No major religion's doctrine prohibits vaccinations," says Jack Tuckner, women's rights in the workplace attorney. In CNET's latest article on vaccine requirements, Tuckner has noted that medical exemptions are "a challenging uphill battle" given the CDC's opinion that "the only people who shouldn't get vaccinated are those who had a severe allergic reaction, e.g., anaphylaxis, immediately after a first vaccine dose or to a component of the COVID-19 vaccine."

What to Do After a Sexual Assault in the Workplace
Every year, sexual assault in the workplace affects many female New York city employees. According to the National Center for biotechnology information, as many as 58% of female employees experience sexual harassment or sexual assault in the workplace. Sexual assault is a crime in New York City, and law enforcement are responsible for investigating sexual assault crimes.
Prosecutors can bring criminal charges against the assailant. Sadly, many victims never receive justice as their assailants are not charged, not convicted, or engage in a plea deal for a less severe sentence than they deserve. What should a victim do who has been assaulted in her place of employment? Victims of sexual assault in the workplace have several options for obtaining compensation for their injuries. If you or your loved one has experienced sexual assault in the workplace, there are legal steps you can take to seek justice and protect yourself.
Contact the Police
Discussing your sexual assault with law enforcement offers can be extremely difficult. Victims of sexual assault often feel isolated and embarrassed after the assault takes place. You may be understandably worried about your co-workers finding out about the sexual assault. Sexual assault is a crime in New York, no matter where the assault happens. Survivors of sexual assault in the workplace should report the incident to law enforcement as soon as possible. If your assailant is dangerous and your safety is in jeopardy, law enforcement will work with you to ensure that you are safe. They will begin an investigation that will hopefully lead to your assailant being convicted for the sexual assault.

NYers - Make sure you are being paid minimum wage and proper overtime
The current minimum wage for all employees in NYC is $15.00 per hour, and it’s $13.00 per hour if you work on Long Island or in Westchester, and the state minimum wage is $11.80 per hour if you work anywhere else in NY.
If you work in NYC and you’re earning less than $58,500 per year or you’re not a professional, executive or supervisory administrative employee, then you’re entitled to be paid overtime pay. It doesn’t matter if you’re a salaried employee and considered “exempt” from overtime by your company, if you work in NYC and earn less than 58.5K and are not working in a professional “executive or managerial administrative capacity, then you’re non-exempt and entitled to overtime pay.
If you work on Long Island or in Westchester County, your annual salary must be at least $50,700. to make you exempt from overtime, and if you work anywhere else in NY state your salary must be at least $46,020 per year before you’re considered exempt from the overtime pay law.
You must also be considered a professional, executive or managerial administrative employee in addition to meeting the above salary minimums.
The Minimum Wage rates are scheduled to increase each year on 12/31 until they reach $15.00 per hour. Employers must post a Minimum Wage Information poster in their establishment.

If you're pregnant and anxious about delivering your baby in a hospital during this covid-19 crisis--especially in NYC--that's entirely understandable. And protected under law.
And if you're working and need flexibility from your employer due to severe pregnancy-based anxiety that's affecting your ability to sleep, work optimally, etc., your employer must discuss your flexibility needs and 'reasonably accommodate' you. Your pregnancy is a protected status.
If you work in NY for any employer you are entitled to this pregnancy-based flexibility, and if you work anywhere else for a company with at least 15 employees you're entitled to this discussion and reasonable accommodation analysis from your company.
You and your baby will undoubtedly be fine, as i'm sure your OB will agree, but your pre-term deep anxiety is still a thing. Put your concerns in writing.
And your company must take that into account. Stay strong.
