let them walk away. let them choose something or someone else. let them reveal to you who they are. let go of the need to control, of the need to create a certain outcome. it's a false sense of security. the truth and the clarity you're looking for lies in your willingness to let them be who they are and to sit back and observe. that's it. that's when you make your decisions and your plans. because when you do this, you'll have all the answers, even if they're painful.

What if I told you your twin flame is YOU? The feeling you're searching for, the love you feel that you've lost was never yours in the first place. It was a deep bond, yes, and it was special, but not in the way you thought. It was a reflection of YOU. It was a lesson learned. to lose a friend

No one talks of the pain of a friendship break-up. Like a real relationship, it can explode in your face and end with venom-laced words- or it can slowly corrode, and by the end neither can point to one thing that caused it. You grew together, side by side, but time passed and yielded a different path. The space in-between grew so slowly you looked up and there was an arm's length, then an ocean. All the same, the pain is real and stark. You had shared things- sacred songs, belly laughs, hidden grief, and even your favorite pair of heels. And time passes and you heal alongside the wound of their absence but there are moments in your years that are dedicated to them. And no matter the ending, there's always only love that echoes sadness.

The nakedness of growing older; the unadulterated fear. You burden the revelation of Death being only a whisper away, a fracture in time, a distant friend waiting on the porch swing. Sometimes it digs its claws into a loved one, a friend, and you’re left reeling and shaken with their absence that once filled rooms, filled you with laughter. Time unwinds with days of unrelenting joy and marvel for life and matches it with days so dull and dark you forget it’s temporary. You give love unconditionally and feel the pain as they give it terms. It questions your inner child, your sanity, your growth, your healing- and wait as it gifts you clarity. You ache for your family, burden the pain they feel; grapple with the disappointment you hope you doesn’t show up at your doorstep. Through it all, though, you relish the moments you do have. You take a second for the sun, lift your arms with the wind, let music fill you with a light that could run a whole city. You breathe, you sob till it cracks your chest in half and there’s no tears left, only broken sounds. You dance, you embrace, and most of all you stay open because with that naked, dreadful revelation that life is devastatingly fleeting: you didn’t live it closed, bitter, and unforgiving.

hurt & openness; the oldest of lovers

Not everyone will like you. You’ll feel the sting of rejection, the ache of not being what they wanted or preferred. But to lock yourself away as to not feeling anything? To refuse to put yourself in a position to get hurt or take the plunge for fear of not being enough? You’re closing yourself off to more than just another soul. Think of the lessons they could teach you. The things that you’ll learn about yourself that you didn’t know before. Each time, you’ll learn forgiveness and compassion for yourself because the someone not reciprocating the way you feel is never a reflection of you. You get to learn exactly what you want and how you want to be treated and to never settle for anything less than that. So let them walk away and feel nothing but gratitude because each time it’s never a loss, you have enough love to fill castles, dark rooms, and lonely homes. You’ll never need anyone else for that.

the healing and the loving

I haven’t felt a deep love for someone in so long; it’s almost like I long for the hurt and heartache that came with it. The screaming in the car, crying in the dark. Looking out windows, sometimes even feeling empty. But that love & joy for someone; the kind that fills you up and etches itself to you right when you’re looking at them- I want to feel that again and this time for it to be right. The endless nights I said no, turned so many down because now I know what I want and what I won’t stand for. I found the love I needed in me and I’m ready for another to feel my love again.

for when you can’t let go

I remember her sitting in my car, hair disheveled and sticking to the sides of her face from the watershed and whispering to me that she’d never move on, not from this one. it cut far too deep and went on far too long. I held there in her car and told her that I know with everything in me there will not only be one more that comes along and devastates you, but multiple- maybe even a little bit more each time. but then you’ll have that one that will come along and change everything you ever thought you know, change the way you want to be touched, to be loved, even change it’s meaning- and you won’t regret the ones before, you’ll be thankful

Anxiety- once it gets ahold of you and you're thrashing in it's grip, fighting, begging for the moment to just pass- sink into it instead. It's scary, it's uncomfortable, it's even debilitating but there's a power in just feeling it, easing into it, and so the next time you feel yourself going to that place, it doesn't seem nearly as scary.

I can't tell the difference between your pain and mine any longer, even with your absence- it's like it's stronger. I wake up feeling okay again and something tears through me and I know it's you, but somehow I find comfort in its torture because I know we'll find our way to each other again.

you were just convenient

There’s something about being wanted by someone who has someone else in their corner. Maybe it’s the ego stroke or the challenge, but it almost drives you more mad than you seem to make them. It can be like a drug- and then you get addicted to the attention they give you, drink up the words they craft just right to keep you around. You pick excuses like they’re growing in an endless garden just to tell yourself it’s okay and that you’ll be okay, it’ll all work out, maybe even in your favor. Maybe they’ll leave them for you. And it’s that ugly, dark gut feeling you have because you know they won’t. It infiltrates like spilled black ink and leaves you so bitter you hardly recognize yourself- and not only does the anger and resentment grow for them, but you start to hate yourself a little too, because why can’t you just let go? You’ll go through these emotions, each one so vastly different but you’ll come out the other side. Because even though you feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself, it’s almost like you’re simultaneously stronger than you’ve ever been when you have this revelation- you deserve so much more. Not someone who belongs to someone else. You’re a whole and you deserve every bit of love another has to give, never half, or even almost all- but not really. You teach others how you should be treated. You set the tone. So pick yourself and all the grief you carry up and run. Roll down a hill, stare at the sun, breathe in the salty air, because you’ll start a new chapter with someone more important than anyone else. You.
