Sea here! I somehow managed to get banned from WH, haha. I can think of a few reasons why:
Reason one: Last time I logged on I visited the chatbox and started talking to some random user that was there. We were posting emotes and Fang told us to stop spamming emotes. I said "this is so sad, alexa play despacito" and left a little bit after.
Reason two: Someone PMed me a few months ago about how they were disappointed in the way staff had treated them. I told them the staff team was a corrupt joke with no structure or standards of how they operate and told them to run far away from this hellsite. Oops.
Reason three: THEY'RE FED UP WITH THIS BITCH. B)
Obviously I'm not protected by free speech on a British-based website and the admins have every right to read my private messages, but if that's the case I just find it really ironic. Normal volunteer staff definitely wouldn't be snooping through someone's inbox. There's also a slim chance that the user reported me, but they replied in a way that seemed like they wouldn't want staff seeing their side of it either. I think it was just a younger member that came to me to complain.
Reason 1 is still a pretty fucked up reason to ban someone, though, but I wouldn't put it past Fang just so she could finally get rid of me. Either reason is pretty fucked up and it's really disappointing to see adults act this way. There are no more excuses anymore; we're well into our 20's now. 2020 sure is a year for the books!
Feel free to add me on Discord if you want to talk about WH-related drama or just catch up or something! My username is Sea#8044. I love this blog, so I'll always be lurking. And for the record I don't really hate Karlos or anything, I just wish he had the emotional maturity to recognize his faults and fix them, or even be remotely capable of taking criticism. But we've gone 7 years without character change from him so at this point I don't find it very likely. I guess I can't expect much from a site owner who threatens to fire one of his admins if she doesn't send him a tit pic, though.
Cheers!

Reminder that Wolvden is launching into early access on the 25th. You can get into the EA for as little as 10 bucks. Otherwise you can wait until it releases and play for free. https://www.wolvden.com
It's fun and deserves your support more than Karlos.

Reblogging as a quick reminder that Amaterasu is one of the few remaining art staff and she does this!
Thanks to the user who sent in the name of Amaterasu’s youtube channel. I love that she has actually addressed this two years ago and proves that she is heavily referencing so hard it looks like tracing.
If you are referencing something so much it looks like tracing, you are using references wrong and are stealing.
Wolf-Haven used to have a topic about using references correctly, but it’s gone now. However! There IS a topic in the Art Thread that is sticked and called “Art Theft- Please Read!” https://wolf-haven.com/Forum/Thread/38680
HMMMMMMMMM. So staff considers heavily referencing theft - because it is - but it’s okay so long as a staff artist does it? For several years to the point that you’re very well aware of it?
That sure seems fair!
Once again, several parts of the image drawn line up exactly to the image that she is “referencing”. This is still wrong and you shouldn’t be on art staff.
This is not how you use references.
References should be used to draw a pose that you haven’t drawn before, are unfamiliar with, or want to practice getting the anatomy and proportions right on. You use it as a REFERENCE point to understand how the subject’s body should look in the pose, and then draw your subject in a similar but NOT IDENTICAL TO THE REFERENCE pose. You now have a better understanding of how that pose, or parts of that pose, should look and add it in your head as you build your catalog and understanding of how anatomy works for that particular subject.
When you do a perfect copy of your reference, you aren’t learning anything. You’re completely relying on a reference image to draw in the future, because you’re not learning how the anatomy works. It’s a crutch, and it’s only a detriment to your skill as an artist.
It would be one thing if Amaterasu was doing this for personal artwork, but she’s not. She is a staff artist who also sells customs and sells artwork.
Anyone else who sold heavily referenced art would be warned or banned for art theft. But not Amaterasu! Because she’s art staff, and like all staff members, she gets a pass!

Upcoming Wolf Sim: Wolvden
So this was mentioned in an ask I just published and in case anyone still reading this isn’t aware: The makers of the lion breeding sim Lioden, are coming out with a wolf version of the site - Wolvden.
It’s still in development but it looks like they’re getting close to the point of accepting testers in, so hopefully it’ll be out for beta access or early access sometime in 2020 if not 2021. If you’re looking for a wolf sim to look forward to, I’d definitely recommend keeping an eye on their development.
Tumblr - @wolvden Twitter - @wolvdengame
In the meantime, they released a demo wolf maker a while ago that you can mess around with. Art looks absolutely stunning so far, reminds me of what the new default template on WH COULD have been.
https://www.wolvden.com/register-demo.php
I’ve long since given up hope that WH will ever be fixed to the point of being competent and am pretty much waiting for that final bullet to kill it off. Until then, I’m personally going to look forward to this, which clearly has a much more caring and passionate team behind it.

What's up, it's Lykaios, ya know, the OG emote artist. Was just browsing this blog ('cause I love piping hot tea) and saw those posts calling the old emotes "hideous", and quickly sketched this up. BRB, telling teenage me to git gud
But in all seriousness, those things are ancient, almost a decade old now so I'm glad they don't use it anymore. But on the plus side they were so wonky that they def couldn't have been traced.
Happy Haten' Y'all

Glad I found this place. I don't know if Karlos is the only coder but I wish he hired more coders so that the site can improve. Not to compare it to Lioden... But the creators are creating a wolf version so WH needs to step it up. It needs more events but no one is even online.
Even with the upcoming Wolf-Lioden, Karlos is too lazy. He used to be motivated by competition but at this point I don’t think he cares enough to swallow his pride and hire people to help with the site’s backend. He wants to do everything himself but put no effort in! Funny how that works.

hey, just wanted to say i just learned of this blog recently and i appreciate the light it's shed on things. i've been on w-h for almost 10 years now and i'd really like to see it become better (i.e., in someone else's hands entirely, and with the current staff scrubbed and replaced). thanks for your posts here. also, i'm curious if you're aware of the account "whiskey" and its custom?

DarkFate
This isn't as much a question as it is a response to this post. Any proof I had I deleted the minute I quit WH. It was taking too much of a toll on me.
I did know Dark-Fate; we were very close friends on Wolf-Haven for the few years that I played. It doesn't at all surprise me that she went and did this. To this day, she is still the nastiest, most vindictive person I've ever met.
I quit Wolf-Haven because I realized that I was becoming a lot like her. I did so many things I'm ashamed of, both with her and to her. At one point, we were both banned from the server (she a month and I a week) for "getting into a fight." Basically, she just called me every slur known to man.
It's very hard for me to think about the details of our relationship. In simple terms, I was her little plaything. I drew her characters, gave her CDs and attention; she toyed with me and pretended to be different people just so she could become mates with my OCs and get more art. When she was bored of my OC, she'd just ditch me and end my friendship with that "user" in the cruelest way possible. Seeing how I didn't know that they were her, it confused me and left me feeling like utter shit.
She's also the ultimate ass-kisser. Literally fawns over anyone with a Moderator tag, or any user who identifies as "male" pretty much. She takes pride in having computer-sex with these people, like it validates her somehow. She says she uses Wolf Haven to "cope," but really that's a flat-out lie. Wolf-Haven was a way for her to live out her demented fantasies. Clearly, that hasn't changed.
If you're new to WH, avoid DarkFate like the fucking plague. She will use you, drain you, and then throw you away. Thank god I had the strength to get away from her, or I might've ended up just as deranged.

isn’t darkfate a user that put in an ask at the very beginning of this blog? getting really mad at y’all for making this blog and “oh, im not afraid to say, this is darkfate” i think. the first or second ask i think - not too sure!
Ha, you’re right. That’s funny, I had forgotten about that.
https://wolf-haten.tumblr.com/post/172543243735/what-the-fuck-is-your-problem-if-i-have-ever-had
I will say that the ask was sent in anonymously so it could very well be someone pretending to be them. Entertaining, regardless.

While looking through photos of bears, this bear sideview she did, which I assume is meant to be map art, is driving me crazy. I know the bear art was missing for a while and that Amaterasu drew the current equipment view, so I don’t know.
More below the cut since this is a bit off topic.
1. Nice deformed back feet, looking very attractive. The feet/legs in particular make me think it’s traced/heavily referenced. She probably drew it exactly as it looked in a photo, and ignored that the bear was standing on rocks or in grass that blocked the full view of the back feet. The quality between the feet and the head are also a big tip off for me.
2. A bear’s rear end does not dip down this much from their shoulder/hump. The top of the slope going down the butt should be slightly shorter than, or around the same as, the height of the shoulder/hump.
3. Who ate the meaty parts of their bear’s ass? It looks this poor thing has it’s back end stuck in a tight wedge and can’t get out. The back legs look too close together, bears don’t really stand like that. It takes two seconds to google “bear pictures” and how often, when standing still, their back legs have distance between them. This could also be a failed attempt at drawing the bear in a 3/4 view, either way it doesn’t look right.
It’s even a similar pose, bear standing still and roaring. Note how the back legs look.
4. The front left leg looks weird to me but I can’t say exactly what it is. I think it’s because it doesn’t look on the same plane as the right front leg so it looks oddly angled. Might be another attempt at a 3/4 view, with it being angled as if the bear took a step backwards.
5. The claws are pretty underwhelming for a grizzly bear (which this is even if she didn’t mean for it to be, the giant shoulder hump is a grizzly thing). Unlike black bears, grizzly bears have some massive claws. I get it, it’s a pixel, but they’re just little back lines and look skinny/small.
This is admittedly off topic from the tracing work, but I think it does support that she uses references far too much. With artist who traces you will pick up little things that make it obvious that they do so. Often times people who trace (or reference too much) from a photo will draw something as it is seen exactly, not realizing that it looks that way because of the angle, or what’s blocking your view, etc. She doesn’t actually know anatomy or how to draw these things, she just takes pictures and copies what she sees. Why again is this person on art staff for this site? Are they that desperate since so many have left?

As a small edition to the Amaterasu post. Staff KNOW this and they do nothing. She doesn’t trace art per-say (I’ve seen her livestream multiple times, but what she does in my opinion is just as shitty) she eyeball references EVERYTHING. She glued two poses together and goes and just goes line by line until she has a completed sketch from one or two sources. Yet no one cares??? I spoke to another user about this as they had brought it up to me. It’s disgusting she thinks she can get away »
Anonymous said:With this level of art theft. Her ego and how she holds herself just makes it worse. I wish staff would just see that and consider it a red flag.
Like I said in my post, even if she’s not physically drawing over an image, it’s still not okay and is basically tracing if she’s copying a picture to that degree. It’s nice to get some confirmation on what’s she’s actually doing, though. You can’t just look at an image and draw every line and say you made an original piece of work, lol. It’s sad because she probably is an okay artist if she would use references appropriately. Very disappointed that staff know about this, but I already assumed they did since I’ve been very suspicious of her art for several years now.

Staff Artist Theft - Amaterasu
Something has always bothered me about Amaterasu, who has been art staff on and off. Starting with her insistence to use the Capcom owned design of Japanese Goddess, Amaterasu, to her art which always seems traced or too heavily referenced.
Bored today I decided to look through some stock wolf images to see if I could find any examples to back up my gut feeling. I want to start by saying that it’s clear that Amaterasu has artistic talent, I like the way she shades customs, but it’s also clear that she relies far too heavily on references and either traces over her references or heavily references them to the point that she might as well be tracing.
Example 1:
Sideview on account - https://wolf-haven.com/Pages/Profile/6453
Stock Image:
The legs are swapped, and it’s not a direct 1 for 1 trace job, but you can still very clearly line up parts of it. Meaning she either frankendolled the parts together (tracing the legs, head, body separately and then just putting them together), or she heavily referenced certain parts. The neck is shorter and the tail is a bit longer, but it’s ridiculous how much of the sideview lines up with this stock image.
Full disclosure: I had to resize and move the SV around to get it to match up to the stock image. That is exactly what I mean by she frankendolled the SV, she didn’t 100% trace over the entire image. She traced individual parts and then put together the SV, making minor changes to parts including the neck, some of the body and tail, the ears, etc. You can tell especially that the legs were traced when she copies exactly where the dew claw and ligaments on the legs are shown in the photo.
SV’s Front Left Leg against Stock’s Front Right Leg:
SV’s Front Right Leg against Stock’s Front Left Leg:
SV’s Back Left Leg against Stock’s Back Right Leg:
Funnily enough the tail kind of lines up here, and part of the other back leg.
SV’s Back Right Leg against Stock’s Back Left Leg:
SV’s Head against Stock’s Head:
Even if Amaterasu claims that she didn’t trace any parts of the original image, and that she just referenced off of it: That doesn’t make it any better. If you are drawing from an image so perfectly that you can line up your work on top of the original work, you may as well be tracing. Heavily referencing is just as wrong as tracing an image that you don’t own, and don’t disclose that you’re doing so.
I know artists on Wolf-Haven have been banned and been disbarred from making customs that have traced or referenced too heavily, so why is Amaterasu okay to do so? Because she’s a staff artist? Because she draws “good” art for the website?
I am positive that this isn’t the only example of her doing this and I will make another post with similar comparisons when I can find the images she used.

What's your opinion on DarkFate? I have my own personal things with her, but I won't get into it for personal reasons. An I wonder what others think of her.
I don’t personally know anything about her. The name and design seem familiar but I’ve probably only seen it in passing. Others are welcome to share their experiences with her, though. Anonymous submissions are always open.

Hey, has there been any mention of what really happened with Syrric? If you're unaware of that whole situation, I can fill you in on what I know through messages if you keep me anonymous.
I’ve talked about this with another person through PM recently. I am only very slightly aware of Syrric and what happened, I got some very basic information from someone directly involved. They appeared to not want to get into it at the time, so I didn’t ask further about it, and due to the nature of the situation, I am hesitant to post about it unless I am given a lot of information.
If you are willing to send in what you have I’ll take a look at it. I would suggest using submissions instead so you don’t have to send in a bunch of asks. If you don’t want me to see your tumblr name, you can log out of tumblr or open an incognito tab and you should be able to send in a submission anonymously no problem.
Please understand that I’m trying to tread lightly because I appreciate how sensitive of a subject this may be to those who were friends with Syrric. I am trying to not look like an ass and post a bunch of misinformation because I don’t know the entire story, in essence. I’d probably prefer that I be sent in a submission based story that I can post directly to the blog v.s. having to write up a post on the person/situation, due to me not being familiar or around when this happened.
