As the Destiel confession meme is all over my dash, I've been thinking about the writerly thing of wanting to have a character respond to "I love you," with silence, anger, "I know", an action, "Don't do this, Cas," etc even though most of us irl say "I love you too."

I think it's kind of unfair to cheat characters of getting to say "I love you too." And of getting to hear it.

But I am obsessed with how the Supernatural fandom has made a meme out of filling that unfair silence with every bit of living the fans have done since the scene aired: news, events, joys and sadnesses all plastered across Dean's face.

Lowkey, I think that's why we're seeing so much of the meme this particular anniversary. A lot of us are terrified and everyone's screaming "I love you too."

unfortunately if you are an old friend of mine i will always care about you no matter what even if we haven't seen each other in forever because i still remember what you were like 7 years ago and i still remember how it felt to be young with you and i still have a lot of love for you in the back of my mind

so i was just thinking about merlin and arthur as one does, and i started thinking about the episode where morgana puts the head of a snake in merlin’s neck with the intention to kill arthur

which means that the only thing that he could think was that he had to kill arthur

merlin being emrys, the most powerfull warlock to ever walk the earth, could easily kill arthur with the blink of an eye

but he doesnt, he tries it the mundane way and fails everytime

that means that that command went so against his love for arthur and the need to protect him at all costs that he did everything he could to stop himself from killing him

he was still fighting to keep arthur alive, to save him while he was brainwashed to only have the thought to kill arthur
