Fleur had been sitting with her friends in the Great Hall watching Hermione try desperately to ignore her and not look at her for quite a while now. It had been 15 minutes of Hermione avoiding her gaze when the blonde had had enough. She grabbed a pen out of her back and scribbled a quick note on a sheet of paper. She folded it up like origami; similar to the note that had fluttered out of the Goblet of Fire at the beginning of the year.

She then charmed it to fly over to Granger. The paper bird caught the attention of most in the hall, who had seen the sender was Fleur Delacour and wanted to know who the lucky person was, that would receive a love note from her. Everyone watched it travel past her date in awe. It flew in spirals and dove towards many boys only to fly away. Just as it seemed as though it would never land it did. And there were audible gasps as they watched it land in none other than Hermione Granger’s lap, of all people.

The girl looked up at Fleur, who raised her eyebrows at Hermione. With a smirk, Delacour waited for her to open it as the Gryffindor blushed a deep pink.

She wondered what it would say, after she had just asked whether Fleur flirting with and secretly dating her was all just a cruel joke. After all, why would a girl like Delacour be interested in a girl like Hermione?

She unfolded the paper and felt her heart burst as she read the answer to the question she had asked, right before leaving the Beauxbatons champion in the Entrance Hall.

“Why are you doing this, Fleur?”

And there in bold writing, for only Hermione’s eyes to see, was her reply.

“Because I love you.”
