Summer is Mango Season in South Florida. But, mangos aren’t the only tropical fruit ripening in this heat. The high schoolers in WLRN’s youth radio program wanted to find out more about Spanish limes. Rachel Greig tells us more.

Miami changes very quickly. And change can disrupt communities that have existed for a long time. In Miami, Overtown has seen a lot of these changes over the years. Jam’Mesha Briggs grew up in Overtown and she brings us this story about how gentrification has affected her.

We’ve all heard horror stories about school lunch - real and fictional. But, with the start of school right around the corner, Rachel Greig was wondering about what’s going to be on the menu. She brings us this story about trying to figure out why school lunch -- isn’t everyone's favorite.

Everyone has a right to an education, at least until high school right? Well as Anthony Espinoza found out, it’s not so simple. Especially when you hit 16. He brings us his story of trying to get back into school.

Maybe there’s a park you remember from your childhood. And you may have seen it after renovations or upgrades… and it’s just not quite the same. Well, Rochnel Jean-Baptiste experienced that pretty early in life. She’s 14 now, and her park changed when she was 8. She takes us on her journey to figure out why.

Some of the most generous people you meet in the world can be a person with the deepest stories. One day WLRN youth radio interns and our instructor Ms. Wilson went to gather audio and to hunt for Spanish limes when we meet Zachario Levi. He was so nice and full of personality. He helped us find Spanish lime trees and even gave us an unexpected interview. When we found out that he was homeless and lived right where we stood, we were in shock. A few days after seeing and speaking with Levi we were informed that he had passed away. It’s hard to believe that someone who was so nice and inspired us to take life seriously has to go away. In honor of someone whom the WLRN youth radio will never forget. Rest In peace Mr. Levi
