i feel like there are a variety of issues w the harry potter plotlines and characterizations that people defend and explain super in depth but are most likely just a result of jkr being a shitty person and (sometimes) a shitty writer

i am so so sorry

i hadnt heard about this before (which is why i reblogged), but i just did a quick google and found an article where they basically avoided commenting on the stuff jkr said. i took down my reblog and i want to apologize for not knowing they’d done that. if there is anything else problematic they’ve done, i’d really like to know so i can better frame how i perceive them. you (or anyone else) can message me privately abt it if you feel comfortable or willing to educate me further.

i disagree entirely with all the nasty things jkr has said/implied about the trans community and the lgbtq+ community. i disagree with the way she’s represented bipoc, the lgbtq+ community, and other minority groups. she’s a shitty person who has said a lot of shitty stuff. and i think it’s important to hold her accountable as well as the people who don’t speak out against what she says.

thank you for telling me about this and holding me accountable too. i meant no harm and am sorry i didn’t know this about the phelps’ earlier.

maybe this is unnecessary and maybe this is problematic and maybe this is misinformed but i haven’t seen anyone say it but i think about it a lot so i just wanted to throw this out there. everyone is entitled to their own opinions and i am not speaking on behalf of anyone but myself. i am open to discussing this but please be mindful and kind because i am a human who is kinda scared about saying this.

i dont like cho chang because of the way her racist depiction affected me as a young eastern/southeastern asian woman who had very little representation.

i know she deserved better and can be viewed as more in depth than she is often thought to be, but she also fit a lot of the e/se asian woman stereotypes that i coincidentally met and i don’t think that was a healthy character for me to latch onto. so i tend to not acknowledge that character because i still don’t think i’ve made my peace with the way she made me feel about my racial identity during my formative years. also bc fuck jkr for that shit.
