GUCCI’S MAGIC
Tumblr media
I’m always an avid admirer of window display, and Gucci never disappoints me. This picture was taken last year when I was wandering on the luxury street in Taipei. I choose this one instead of posting the one I took in the mall recently is because it leaves such a fascinating and spring-like impression that I cannot forget until today. The light pink background and the black marble wall on the sides form a bold contrast that catches my attention at first sight. When you look closer, the white cranes in the back add an oriental, fairy-tale-like atmosphere which makes the clothing more compelling to me. I feel like I can stare at this forever!

MY AUDIENCE
In the last assignment of the “fashion media” unit, I had to get a better understanding about the visitors on my site in order to create better contents. I used Google Analytics, where I could see the number of active visitors as well as the time and region they enter my site. Most visitors were from Taiwan (my hometown), so they were probably my friends and family. Interestingly, I also got visits from the US. Their visiting times weren’t steady since they were from different regions. Anyways, now I know deeper about who are viewing my works!

SIMPLICITY clutch | sample
Tumblr media
For the last assignment in the fashion production unit, I made a sample piece for my SIMPLICITY clutch bag. Here I chose two kinds of fabric from my fabric board (previous assignment) and followed the shape of my paper mockup to create the actual product. During the process, I encountered some troubles keeping the bag in shape while sewing the side piece and main body together. Fortunately this problem is solved soon after when I added additional pins perpendicular to the linings. I’m fairly satisfied with how it turned out, which gives me a sense of retro glamour!

SIMPLICITY clutch | mockup
Tumblr media
Here’s the paper model of my signature bag. At first I planned to do something fancy, so I folded my paper model into various irregular shapes and added miscellaneous colors. However, I realized that since this design was to be used everyday, it had to be practical and useful as wellI. Thus, I started over to make it look simple, easy to carry, but possessed interesting details at the same time. From dinner with friends to formal parties, this is suitable for any occasion. I believe this clutch can represent my personal style -- simplicity.

ADVENTURE in the retail store
Tumblr media
While wandering in a retail shop in downtown, I found some pieces from both Taiwanese and European brands that I was interested in purchasing. The skinny jeans and wide trousers were in european size 34, and the stripped jeans were in size S. Though they were made from different material (denim and chiffon), they all fitted me well because of their elastic waist band. Throughout the adventure, only this two size I found suit my body well. I learned that these different size standards were actually “translatable” with each other. So the next time I go to the retail shop, I don’t have to worry about missing my size!

TWISTED WILDNESS | production cost
This is the production cost of “twisted wildness”, the dangle earrings I designed for the PARSONSxTEENVOGUE online course. This is the first accessory piece I’ve ever designed, so this assignment is a new challenge to me. I learned how to transform my ideas and aesthetic from clothing to items that match the whole look, and the process of calculating costs is really interesting. Now I have a deeper understanding of how to make my ideas into purchasable pieces.
