Heya, I was wondering if there are any magic animal species that you've made up? 🤔 The magic animal reserve is so cool to me lmao

Hihi mysterious anon! Yeah, the magical animal reserve is super cool!

Excuse the sappy sentimentalist in me, but I actually took a lot of my creature ideas directly from sketchbooks I had when I was younger. Lemme introduce you to all of them.

I didn't make unicorns up, but I want unicorns bc they're cool. It think all your basic fantasy creatures exist in this universe. Bc I made it. And I can do whatever I want.

The most important thing in the reserve (and the main reason it's there) are the mas, which are what the magic community calls man-made animals. Mas were sort of a 'trend' a decade back or so. People realized they could create these living creatures out of scraps from around their houses and everyone was making them. For example, VOID's cat is a ma! The problem was: these scrap-part animals couldn't survive in any of the environments that animals similar to them could. To help these animals, Widowarton (the main site of the birth of these creations since it was popular among young adults) opened a reserve to try and help these animals live. Over the years they've also opened the reserve to other animals that needed to be preserved.

The rest of the creatures, though, are filled with 10-year-old creativity.

The cycloctopus- Pretty simple. One-eyed octopus. Idk what that thing is next to it. Don't ask.

Rolypine- This is sort of like a porcupine except it can roll up into a ball and roll around. They don't have needles, but spikes on their backs.

Dusties- Very little creatures (some call them bugs) that are usually found around old, dustly places. They don't usually cause problems, but it gets annoying when you find ten of them in a corner of your house. They're very soft, but emit poisonous stenches when they feel threatened.

Satan's Pig- This thing is just goofy. It's a little levitating guy with horns. They like pies.

Pixies- Now, I didn't make pixes up, but I found this little 'interpretation' of them that I drew in one of my books and I just fell in love with their designs. These little troublemakers are about the height of a baby. They have advanced enough brains that they have their own language, and they can learn human languages too. Usually, you wouldn't find them on animal reserves. They live in forests, on mountains, on beaches, in caves, etc. (it depends on the type of pixie). The few that are in the animal reserve were taken in by Widowarton staff because they'd somehow lost their home and the reserve is very diverse in habitats, so they easily found a suitable place to settle down. As a plus, the pixies in the reserve know more about human life and culture than any pixie ever has (and the Widowarton students and staff have learned a lot about Pixie cultures!).

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed the strange little creatures that you can find in the Widowarton Animal Reserve! Poppy is studying magical marine biology, so she spends a lot of her time at the reserve! Perhaps you'll hear about even more creatures from her in the future...

You know, now I kinda wish there was, but unfortunately, Yeast is by itself in terms of bread ingredient names. Idk if anyone would want to live in a town called Milk.

Hi Mia!! I'm glad you asked. It's actually quite silly.

So, picture this, there's this magical talking door named Rodger. Rodger has been around for thousands of years and the only way people gain the ability to learn magic is if they're approved by Rodger. Pretty much, Rodger will reveal himself to you if you're magic-weilding material, and you have to walk through him, right? As you're walking through, he decides if you should be able to use magic and, if you should, he grants you the ability to do so. The whole system is a little subjective, since everything is up to this ancient door that's just going off of 'vibes' alone.

Pretty much, if you're a member of a historically magic family, Rodger will show up to your house on your double-digits birthday and you get powers. There's hardly ever a magic family kid who isn't approved.

Non-magic families are a different story because it's very rare that a person who hasn't been exposed to the world of magic would ever even find Rodger, and if they happened to, there's even less of a chance he'd approve of them (but even so, the unlikely event has to happen every so often, or there wouldn't be a very big magic population and everyone would be related).

Poppy, as you might guess, was one of these special non-magic cases, but I think you'll learn more about it in the first Widowarton Report...

Meet the Witches of the Widowarton Sorceress Society!

these are the girls the whole blog surrounds! It started like this: these five were trying to navigate Widowarton by themselves, each with a very distinct personality and goals. By some trick of fate, they ended up in a club together and decided they shouldn’t go at it alone. They named their group the Widowarton Sorceress Society and now they’re navigating the wild adventures of Widowarton together!

Rita Duke- An ambitious witch majoring in explosive and physical combat. Although she’s unsure about her fellow society members, she’s willing to give them a chance.

Poppy Coles- A supernova of sunshine who can’t wait to experience Widowarton. She’s majoring in mystical marine biology and is completely new to the world of witchcraft!

Ember McCabe- A fire-tempered student who is, fittingly, studying pyromagics. Something about her, although, suggests she might be indulging in something slightly more sinister…

Duza Stone- A snake-haired girl fond of potions and brews, Duza wishes the WSS was more of a sorority than a society. She’s most excited for the social aspect of Widowarton!

V.O.I.D. (Visionarily Occult Ideal Daughter)- An experiment by an infamous alchemist gone utterly wrong, resulting in her… interesting personality. She’s studying unknownology at Widowarton, but her cat Pike and her would rather be exploring caves.

These girls are gonna be a lot of fun to build a world around, so stick around, stranger! We’re in for a magical ride!
