We caught up with one of our favorite bloggers, lovely Lucy of Shiny Thoughts - and here's what we found out!
What inspired you to start your blog?
I originally started the (then named) Snippets of Shiny Thoughts back in old 2009 because I thought I'd need to start one for the uni course I was about to enrol in. I kind of wanted mine to be better than everyone elses so I thought I should better start that summer to get ahead! I was inspired by me now best friend Carrie from wishwishwish, kisses and crossstitches and many others.
How would you describe your personal style?
COLOURFUL, and sporty! I often say that if I don't look like i could either present a childrens TV program whilst climbing over an assault course, then I'm probably dressed like someone else that day. (basically printed leggings and a baggy top, with lots of accessories!)
What’s your must have autumn item?
Probably origami style or interestingly cut mini skirts either in leather look or plaid. I love the take on asymmetrical skirts this season! That and some awesome big coats.
What's your favorite trend for AW13?
I'm excited that 'Blitz/Club kids' has been named a trend because that's basically just my usual eclectic style with more prints and chains. I'm looking forward to the punk trend though, injecting a bit of tough sexiness in with my usual sporty style.
What's your worst fashion faux pas?
That I've made? Where to start? I used to layer up the worst things in first year at uni. Green shorts over blue tights with an orange tiger print top and a pink scarf. Like I'd sicked up a rainbow, in a bad way. In general however, I'd say Ugg boots, of course.
Do you have any style icons?
I love Eliza Doolittles styling plus Rihanna and Rita Ora do good for 'brave' fashion but I'm not a celeb girl. I love bloggers like Late Afternoon and Kani
If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to
be?
Stopping time, for sure! Bernards Watch? Gimme gimme. I have too much to do in such a short time, think how much you could achieve with all that time you spend sleeping?! haha
Your favourite pair of WHOY leggings?
The good old classic pink space print http://www.whoy.com/shop/leggings/Galaxy-Pink-Leggings/
or the silver traingle prints! http://www.whoy.com/shop/leggings/Hipster-Triangle-Leggings/

BRIGHTEN UP YOUR WORKOUT LOOK!
Tumblr media
Did you know that WHOY leggings are made from the same fabric that is used for gymnastics and the Olympic rowing team! It consists of 87% micro fibre polyester and 13 % lycra. They're also woven in England, with a 4 –way stretch and extreme breathability. PERFECT to wear when exercising! See them being sported by a few runners on the athletics track.
Veronica says: 'They really do let your legs breath and so I definitely will be wearing them as funky exercise gear. Especially in these winter months when shorts and the ¾ length leggings don’t quite keep the cold out on the way to the gym…The bright patterns make a cool difference from all the usual gym gear!’

YAZZ MATTHEWS - INTERVIEW WITH OUR FIRST WHOY WINNER!
Tumblr media
So last Sunday our first ever Whoy winner was crowned and she managed to get in on both 1st and 3rd place! So she'll actually see two of her designs made and sold in the Whoy shop. Exciting!
Yasmin Matthews - better known as Yazz, is from Chipping Norton - near Oxford and currently in full time higher education studying Graphic Design alongside two part time jobs - one working in Dorothy Perkins and the other at The Midcounties Co-operative. We caught up with Yazz to learn a bit more:
Congrats on your Whoy design win! How do you feel?
Totally overwhelmed! I wasn't doing so great earlier on, on the sunday, but a last boost and a lot of help and sharing on social networks between friends I seemed to skyrocket up, I can't wait to see my designs printed, could never dream something as awesome as this could happen, I'm a very lucky lady to have such an awesome peer group!
Tell us about your winning design, what are we looking at?
Well the WINTER leggings photo was originally taken for a College project I had to do with "non-spaces", I loved this photograph as it has great contrast and has somewhat of a optical illusion to it as it is a photo of tree branches but looks a lot like veins! The NYC Sunset leggings is a photo I took in November 2012 whilst in New York, from the top of the Rockefeller centre at sunset, this photo means the world to me as it reminds me of the most incredible travelling experience of my life (As of yet) and it really is a spectacular view!
What inspires you?
A lot of my inspiration comes from the world around me, my peer group being my main influence really. I'm very lucky to have such a varied group of friends and colleagues in my life, which allows to have such a broad mind and opinion on things. I'd also say music is a great influence to me, I listen to music at every opportunity and it really spurs me on, whatever mood you're in there's always a song to match.
What are your favorite trends this season?
THE TIE-DYE COMEBACK! It's come back in force and it is awesome! Anything tie-dye, dip-dye, acid-dye, I love it all!  I'm a big fan of colour so being able to wear all these great clothes is awesome for me, I've never been one to follow trends hugely I kinda just pick what I like and throw it all on and hope for the best so it works well. It's also great to see loads of small independent brands making their own garments using these styles, the range and market is huge if you look and it's in everyones price range, perfect!!
Who would you most love to see wearing your designs?
Oh wow I really couldn't say! I think strangers really, it sounds a bit bizarre, but imagine walking along the street one day and seeing someone you've never met and don't know wearing something you've created. That's someone who genuinely likes your work and has parted with cold hard-earned cash to buy it! It would be great to see my friends in them too, the support I get from my peers as I've previously mentioned is just the bomb, I'd love to know they're proud to wear my work. Also (obviously) seeing celebs in them would be incredible - Hayley Williams is a huge role model to me, she's a great independent woman! If I saw her wearing one of my designs there would definitely be tears!
What do you hope to achieve in the next 10 years?
I plan on getting my degree in Graphic Design, working in Advertising/Promotion, and just being successful in general! I hope to do a lot more travelling (Amsterdam is planned for November and Berlin in February 2014!) and end up spending some time living and working in New York.
What is fashion about for you?
Just being free to express your personality and emotions through your clothes, wearing what you want, when you want, and using your own confidence to make it look good. I think sometimes people worry too much what other people think, but hell if you like it and think you look good, who cares, WORK IT!!
What is life about?
Being happy, having fun, living life to the fullest. Don't spend your time thinking oh I wish I could be the sort of person that goes and does this and that, if you can wish it you can do it. Get stuck in at the deep end and do want you want, life is far to short to sit around deciding, just grab the bull by the horns and go go go.
Finally, any advice for future Whoy designers?
Just have fun with your designs, submit the things you love, don't over think it too much, don't worry TOO much about whether other people will like it or not, as long as you do, and you can share that love for something with other people, it tends to go down just fine!
You can get Yazz's leggings in the Whoy shop in about 2 weeks! www.whoy.com

FIRST EVER WHOY WINNER ANNOUNCED!
Tumblr media
It was a fun and close race yesterday but finally the first ever Whoy design winner has been announced! Graphic design student Yasmin Matthews, aka Yazz, from Oxford, won with her "Winter" leggings design! She also took 3rd place with her NYC Sunset photograph design, so in fact bagged TWO wins in one go!
Runner up was 15-year old artist Mihir Malde from Kenya with his design "The Eye", which he originally painted on canvas!
Tumblr media
Really fun to see quality artwork being made by these young artists and they can both look forward to seeing their designs printed on leggings and sold in the Whoy shop. In addition Yazz will also receive 10 pairs of Whoy leggings to distribute among friends and family!
A 4th winner, the Whoy House Choice, picked by the Whoy creative team, will be announced on Wednesday - so anything can happen still!
We look forward to seeing more great designs coming through the Whoy machine, and will announce a new competition deadline soon! Keep creating, keep loving, all are one, the Joy of Whoy!

Punk Rock was one of the strongest themes on the AW13 catwalks, with designers such as Versace, Moshchino, Saint Laurent, J.W. Anderson and many more all including the trend. So, what better way to wear the new season trend then our Punk Collage leggings? With pictures from iconic 70s rock photographer Steve Emberton, they go perfectly with a leather jacket..Rock on girls!!
