“next rounds on you, jeonghan! i can hear my bank account crying from my pocket!!”
going out with the guys after an especially long string of promotions was the perfect way to blow off steam. they always chose the best, fanciest bars to occupy. plus, there was an added bonus that if coups gets drunk enough, you can convince him that he agreed to pay for the next round of shots.
after having a couple drinks that were definitely stronger than you anticipated, it was time for you to make your way to the restrooms. minghao stabilized you as you stood up and less than gracefully made your way to the other side of the room. when you got into the restroom, you stood and looked in the mirror. as the room spun around you, you realized that maybe your limit has diminished as you’d gotten older. you do your thing and head back out, making a stop at the bar first to get yourself a glass of water. at least drunk you was still capable of making somewhat rational decisions.
as you stood at the bar, you half fell over but caught yourself on the counter. a man walked around you, hooking his arm around your waist and holding you up. you didnt think twice, assuming it was one of the guys just helping you out. but, as you looked towards the table they were all sitting around, the only empty seat was your own. now you’re filled with confusion and discomfort. you try to pull yourself away but the man tightens his grip on your side.
“now now, we both know you’re not as stable as you think you are.”
you try to make your voice as stable as possible as you make an attempt at pushing him away or getting someones attention, whichever you can manage first.
“im fine, please let me go.”
the man leans closer until you hear a voice from his opposite side whichs makes his arms tense, but slightly release you at the same time.
“babe, everything ok?”
joshua?
“not really..”
joshua steps closer to the man who has now completely let go of your waist. he lowers his tone and his voice becomes raspy and powerful as he speaks.
“i don’t want to sound like a douche or anything, but i can have you kicked out of here faster than you could leave on your own accord. so i would suggest that you make a decision before i have to.”
the man mutters apologies to shua as he steps back and hurriedly leaves the bar. at this point, you are completely depending on the counter to hold you up. shua puts a (much more welcoming) arm around you, making you feel secure. you lean into him with your head on his shoulder as the bartender comes over and shua asks him for a glass of water. the bartender hands him the glass as the two of you make your way back to the table. the guys shift down so you can take the seat next to joshua, and you sink into his side as he feeds you the glass of water.
at this point your night had been ruined, and the guys noticed that too. shua offers to take you home which you gladly accept. you both say goodbye to everyone as you head outside and find a bench to sit on while you wait for your taxi to show up. you babble into shua’s shoulder as he scrolls on his phone.
“thank you, shua.”
“hm?”
he put his phone in his pocket as he turns his full attention to you.
“thank you for getting that man to go away.”
“i knew you were uncomfortable, i just did what anyone else shouldve done.”
“but this is better.. cuz its you…”
shua chuckles as he rubs your arm, making you snuggle further into his side. when the taxi comes, joshua practically carries you to the car. you settle in and he makes quiet small talk with the driver as you slowly fall asleep on his shoulder.
when you get to your apartment, you pass shua your keys and rub your eyes while he unlocks the door and ushers you inside. he picks out your pajamas as you sit on your bed, watching his every move. he passes you your clothes as he leaves the room to let you get dressed.
you call out for him to come back in when youre in your pajamas, and he passes you another glass of water. you groan but he laughs as you take the glass anyways. he grabs your makeup remover wipes from your bathroom and sits on your bed next to you, lifting your legs and moving you to face him. his hands are warm.
when you’re all ready for bed, you crawl under the covers and watch as he puts everything back in its place. he makes everything look beautiful, elegant. even the simplest of motions are incredible when it’s shua. he pulls out his phone to book another cab to his place, but you sit up half way in your bed.
“shu?”
“yeah?”
“maybe it’d be cheaper if you didn’t get a taxi tonight and i could take you home tomorrow?”
“are you suggesting i stay here tonight?”
you give him a pleading smile as you pull back the covers and he playfully rolls his eyes. most of the guys have left miscellaneous clothes items at your house from other occasions, so he digs through the drawer and finds some pajamas to change into. when he comes back into the room, you watch him again. beautiful. thats the only word to describe him.
he slides into the covers and smiles at you as he leans over you and turns off the lamp on your bedside table. the night fades away, as you both fall asleep after mumbled ‘goodnight’s into the dark.
when you wake up, the bed is empty. you stumble out of bed, trying to ignore the throbbing pain in the right side of your head. the smell of breakfast enters your nose, as you get to the kitchen and see shua cooking at the stove. you walk to him and rest your cheek on his back.
“good morning, party animal.”
his eyes are fond as he gestures to the counter behind the two of you, where he has two ibuprofen and a glass of water sitting out, ready for you.
“another glass of water, ive never been so hydrated in my life.”
shua laughs.
“thats not a bad thing, is it?”
he walks towards you and looks into your eyes as you drink all the water and lay the glass down with a smile.
“no, not at all.”

Tumblr media
genre - strangers to lovers, meetcute, y/n works at a cafe
word count - 1.8k
disclaimers - lowercase on purpose, no proofreading, fic under the cut
a/n - soooo its been a while... ive had a very busy 2023 and a very severe case of writers block, but i wanted to write a cute hoshi fic about a cafe so this is what we get. im also in the works of writing a longer fic like my last one, but that wont be out for a bit, its still very early stages. regardless, i hope u enjoy this messy lil hoshi fic! (because i wouldnt be whoreanghae without a little hoshi here and there) its just sweet and warm and fuzzy etc etc hope u enjoy xoxo k
Tumblr media
“order up!”
life working in the cafe was nothing short of fast paced. you were constantly making drinks or baked goods that in a 6 hour shift you were basically running around the entire time. you had no way of pointing out specific things or people, it was just go, go, go. you were used to the environment, and you enjoyed how you had no time to dwell on mistakes or mishaps. you simply had to move on to the next task.
this day things werent as hectic as they usually were, so you were testing out new drinks and snacks for the menu. as you started pouring milk into an empty cup for the next round of testing, you heard the bell above the door jingle and quickly poured the last cup of milk and turned around. the man who stood a couple feet away from the counter was what you would call ‘a familiar’. you dont see him enough to call him a regular, but you see him just enough that he stands out when you see him walk in. he was one of those people you still noticed out of the rest even in one of those fast paced busy days. you watch as his eyes scan the menus above your head, and he taps his foot as he tries to decide what to order. after 20 seconds or so he steps up to the counter and smiles. you give him a smile back.
“welcome back! what’ll it be today?”
“hmmm, im thinking ill go for something matcha today. maybeeeee a medium iced matcha latte?”
you hum and nod as you press buttons on the register.
“good choice, good choice, can i get you anything else today?”
“and a large iced americano!”
“allllright, ill get started on that for you now.”
you shoot him another smile as he takes out his card and taps it on the machine. you spin around and start getting out the ingredients to make his drinks. everytime he comes in, he always gets a different drink from the menu for himself, then a large iced americano. every time, a large iced americano. you just assume the drink is for a girlfriend or someone, and continue on with your day. as much as youd never admit it, some days you kind of wish he stops ordering the americano. its not that you dont want the cafe getting any sales, its just that he is handsome. so handsome. and you dont want to make a fool of yourself and hit on a guy with a girlfriend. so as long as hes ordering the large iced americano, youll keep to yourself.
you whip up the drinks and bring them to the other end of the counter, as his head pops up and he comes over to pick up the drinks. he thanks you, and you wish him a good day as he heads out the door again. you sigh, watching him leave with that damn large iced americano in his left hand.
your coworkers start to pick up on your little thing for mr familiar, so everytime they see him coming, theyre coincidentally busy in that moment. he comes in a couple times again throughout the week, still ordering the americano. you still shoot him the same smile, wishing him well, and watching him leave with the drinks in tow. one day, just one day, he wont order the americano and youll be able to make a move. but, that just wasnt the day.
one day when work is particularly dead, youre sitting at a table a few feet away from the counter eating your lunch when the door bell rings again. you look up, and youre met with mr familiar yet again. you wave meekly as he smiles and nods your way. your coworker serves him, since you had just sat down. you try to not look at him, or listen to what hes ordering. hes just another customer, why do you wonder so strongly what drinks he had just ordered? you push it out of your mind as you try to finish your sandwich. out of the corner of your eye you see your coworker place a drink and something else on the counter, and mr familiar walks to the counter and picks it up. but, instead of hearing the door bell yet again, you’re instead met with a figure standing over your table.
“is this seat taken?”
he gestures to the chair opposite you at the small table. you shake your head and nod for him to sit down. he places his drink and sandwich on the table and grins at you. you try to stop the tips of your ears from turning red, but you can feel the heat blazing from the side of your head. you both eat your lunch as you make small talk. you learn that he actually goes to your school, which is just down the block. hes a dance major, which piques your interest even more. it turns out that he has a really cute laugh, and loves tigers. you tell him about your self, and he listens intently the entire time. he nods his head along with your stories which makes you smile to yourself. you check your watch, realizing that the lunch rush is about to start.
“im so sorry to cut this short, but i have to get back to work, the lunch rush is about to start and i cant leave them high and dry.”
“oh no worries at all! i have a class at 1:00 anyways, its probably time for me to head back now too.”
“it was really nice talking to you.”
“it was nice talking to you too, wait, here-”
he rummages in his pocket, pulling out a crumpled up receipt and a pen. he scrawls something on the back of the paper, and shoves it into the pouch of your apron. you laugh at his urgency as he puts the pen back into his pocket and heads out the door. he waves as he walks past the front windows, and you wave back in a sort of shock. you pull the crumpled paper out of your apron and read it. the paper reads “Soonyoungie~” and his number. as you read this, you realize you never even gave him your name. you see a string of customers begin to roll in, so you shove the receipt into your back pocket and get back to work.
as the day comes to an end and youre sitting in your bed in your pajamas, you keep turning the receipt over and over in your hands. you trace the letters and numbers with your fingers so much that you think they might soon rub off the paper. do i text him? how long do i wait? did i wait too long? you stare at the receipt until you fall asleep, paper in hand. you wake up the next morning to the receipt laying on the floor next to your bed. you pick it up, grab your phone, and carefully type the numbers into a new contact. you make sure to reread it about 20 times, before naming the number “soonyoung” and flopping back onto your bed.
you get to work, and youre staring at the empty text conversation between you and mr familiar, who youve now discovered is ‘soonyoung’. then, you quickly realize that you didnt tell him your name. your palm connects with your forehead as you realize that youre probably just ‘cafe girl’ to him at this point. you see your manager walk out of the back room in the corner of your eye, so you put your phone back into your pocket so she doesnt shout at you. it feels like your phone is weighing you down, whispering ‘text him, text him’ into your ear as you mix drinks. you push soonyoung to the back of your mind, trying to just get through this shift.
the cafe is booming this day, customers are constantly in and out and there are so many people that the tables are all filled. you and your coworkers are switching out with each other between cleaning/serving tables, working the cash, and making the orders. it just so happens that your shift as the cashier had just started when you see a familiar face coming in. soonyoung smiles as he sees you, and glances at the menu before coming up to the counter. you beam at him as he looks at you over the counter. you notice another guy next to him, looking around the cafe in awe.
“hi soonyoung! whats on the menu today?”
“a large vanilla latte for me, and a large iced americano for my friend.”
you blink to yourself as you type in the order. large iced americano… large iced americano… the large iced americano wasnt for a girlfriend, it was for a friend. the man next to soonyoung had a kind smile, and he radiated warm energy. you give both of them a grin as you gesture to the machine and watch as soonyoung taps his card yet again.
“so what are you two doing out today?”
“we both had some time between classes, and i always bring seungkwan americanos from here because he says theyre the best in seoul, so today i convinced him to come with me.”
“ahhh, well im glad you enjoy them, seungkwan.”
he gives a smile back as you hear soonyoungs name called from the end of the counter.
“have a good day you two!”
“you too, y/n!”
soonyoung calls back as he heads out the door and you move on to your next customer. wait. he knew your name? how did he know your name? the interaction lingers in your mind throughout every customer you serve until youre about to close. you think about it over and over again, and bring it up to one of your coworkers.
“hey, did you tell that guy soonyoung my name?”
“huh? no, why?”
“its weird, he came in and he knew my name..”
“honey, did you forget whats right here?”
she pats your chest, and you look down at your apron. you feel like an idiot. name tag. thats how he knew. your coworker laughs and pats your back as she goes back into the breakroom. you clean off the counters and take out your phone and quickly type out a message.
y/n : hey soonyoung! this is y/n from the cafe :)
you stare at the message for what felt like hours, and reluctantly turn your phone off and go back to cleaning up so you can go home. as youre putting the containers of milk back into the fridge, you hear your phone buzz on the counter and spin around.
soonyoung : hey y/n!
soonyoung : how is/was work?
the message makes you smile, as you send another one and push your phone across the counter, flustered.
y/n : it got better after i saw a certain familiar face :))

a/n - this one has been in the works for a loooong time, finally got the energy to finish it! hope you enjoy, i put a lot of work into this one. happy holidays! <3
Tumblr media
you put down your phone with a sigh. your mother had just given you a call to let you know that one of your cousins was getting married in a month, and your mother wanted to let you know the plan for their wedding early on so you could get started on planning your trip back to your hometown. she gave you dates and dressing codes, and other wedding things that blended together into one blur in your head as you mindlessly responded to your mothers queries and requests.
one of the things she brushed over was the fact that you had to bring a date for the entire wedding. the ceremony, the dinner, the dance, you always had to have someone on your arm. it was a rule that your cousin was apparently very adamant about. in the blur of questions from your mother, you had accidently answered a question that you should have saved for a later time, when you hadn’t been just getting home from a 2 hour long exam.
“so, y/n, you do have a date right?”
“yes, i do.”
your mother gasped, bringing herself to a conclusion that you had not written. “my baby has a boyfriend? oh, how sweet!” her coos were quickly pushed aside when you heard a door creak open on her end of the line, followed by your fathers voice asking her if she was ready for dinner. your mother quickly said goodbye as you pressed the red ‘end call’ button, and the reality of the belief your mother was under finally pieced together in your head.
your family are expecting you to show up at a family gathering with a boyfriend you do not have.
you leaned forward, elbows digging into your knees as you tangled your hands in your hair. every thought of how you could fix this raced through your head at once, but every solution made less sense than the last. in the end, you came to the conclusion that you would have to find someone willing to be your boyfriend for a weekend, which is a statement that is easier said than done.
laughter echoed around the room as you sat on the sofa of hoshi’s apartment with your head in your hands. while you thought the entire situation was simply traumatic, everyone else thought it was hilarious. some of them had pity, but even the sympathetic ones were stifling their laughter as they comforted you.
you couldnt help but laugh along at the absurdity of the entire thing. it was really something that could only happen to you.
“guys, i seriously have no idea what to do! its not like i can just rent a boyfriend for a couple days!” dokyeom was holding onto mingyus arm as he laughed so hard he was out of breath. joshua faked a serious face as he looked towards you. “thats not true, im sure you could rent hoshi for the right price.”
you sighed a dramatic, exasperated sigh as you flopped back onto hoshis sofa, staring at the ceiling as you laughed. the laughter fizzled out and everyone realized it was getting late.
“i should probably get going and try to find a desperate guy who would free up a weekend to go to my cousins wedding with me.” you laughed as you stood up, brushing your hair back behind you. wonwoo stood up with you. “y/n, i could give you a ride home, since its the same building anyways.” you smiled and nodded towards him as you said goodbye to everyone and followed wonwoo to his car.
the ride back to your apartment building was quiet, with the low radio being the only sound filling the car. car rides with wonwoo always had a peaceful silence, never awkward. it was comfortable.
you thought over the sentence a thousand and one times in your head before you finally broke the silence. “uh, wonwoo.. can i ask you, um, a big favour?” you looked down at your hands before looking over at the man next to you, a grin now plastered across his face as he glanced in your direction. “i wonder what this could be?” he said, followed by a chuckle. your ears turned pink as you fiddled with your fingers in your lap, a smile wide on your face to match his.
you took a deep breath before finally asking, “wonwoo, could you be my date to my cousins wedding?” you smiled over at him from the passenger seat, trying your best to look convincing enough for him to say yes. all things considered, something must have worked. “of course i will, it’d be an honour to be your boyfriend for a couple days.” the pink flush on your ears travelled all across your face as you smiled ear to ear. he parked at your apartment complex as you leaned over and wrapped your arms around his neck. “thank you so so so much wonwoo!” he laughed, wrapping his arms around your waist and lightly squeezing as you pulled away and opened the car door. “ill send you all the details when i know all the details,” you told wonwoo as you walked into your apartment building together. he nodded as he pressed the button for the elevator. “hopefully ill be able to impress your family.” you and wonwoo smiled at each other as the elevator door beeped open and you stepped inside.
-
you sat at your dinner table, a notepad and pen sitting in front of you. your mother had just called and informed you of all the details of the wedding, and you decided that it would make your life easier if you wrote down everything she said this time. she gave you details on where everyone would stay, the timeline of events, and every little thing in between. the phone call had lasted for at least 20 minutes. you had always said, your mother was nothing if not thorough. after overlooking the list in front of you, you picked up your phone and typed a text.
y/n : hey, are u busy rn?
wonu 🐱 : I’m at practice, is everything ok?
y/n : oh yeah its fine, its just stuff about the wedding. call me when you get home :)
wonu 🐱 : Will do. :)
while you waited for wonwoo to finish practice, you absentmindedly scrolled on your phone. as you did, you saw countless pictures of people from your hometown posting pictures with their significant others. you liked their pictures and kept scrolling, but the photos made you feel.. off. since you had moved away from your hometown, you hadnt had any relationships. you had met people, but nothing ever amounted to anything more than a coffee date or a study session at your campus library. you were just always so busy with school and spending time with the boys that you had simply never sought out a relationship in your years of living away from your family. while you were content with your independence, seeing photos of couples happy and in love made you feel left out. not envy, just a feeling of ‘i would be happy with what they have’.
since starting university, romance has been on your back burner to say the least. you had barely considered your own feelings between exams and essays. maybe this was why every time your friends caught someone checking you out, or blatantly flirting with you, your response was always “really? i didnt notice.” your group of friends from university had always been suspicious of your relationship with the 13 men you spend most of your freetime with. they were convinced that if you did end up having a secret relationship, it would be with one of them. you shut down the accusations every time, insistent that they were just friends. and thats all they were. just friends.
breaking you out of your mindless scrolling, your phone rang. you shook out of your daze as you accepted the call. “hey! how was practice?” wonwoo groaned dramatically. “you dont even understaaaand!” you laughed and shook your head at his complaining. “but im sure ill make it. alright, whats the deal with the wedding?” he said, leaving his dramatics behind. “yes! okay, so there is one major difference than what i was told.. it will be a whole week, not just the weekend. if you cant make it its fine i understa-” wonwoo cut you off. “oh thats okay! i dont mind.” you paused in shock. “you dont mind? like you dont mind being a fake couple for a week?” you had expected him to back out, not because he was unreliable, but because it was a big thing to agree to. but, wonwoo insisted. “im serious! id be happy to, itd be nice to get out of this place for a bit and spend time with your family.” lots of people saw wonwoo as being a cold person, but anyone who knows him knows hes a huge softie. you were overjoyed at wonwoos willingness to do this for you.
you went on to explain everything to wonwoo, as he listened attentively and was eager to help you and your family in any way he was able to. the wedding was on a thursday afternoon in the middle of june. your mother wanted you to come home a couple days before the wedding, so you decided that you would get there on the sunday before the wedding, and leave the day after the wedding. wonwoo agreed and said he could even drive (as long as you gave him directions). you had thought you had everything all in order, but wonwoo piped up with something you havent even considered up until this point.
“wait, so what about our fake relationship? we need details to make it believable.” wonwoo really was an actor at heart. until now, you had entirely forgotten that you would actually need to seem like a couple in order to be perceived as a couple. “yeah youre right, what kind of things would we have to detail though?” you both thought about the bare minimum for a second, before deciding the things you would decide on beforehand and the things you could just make up on the spot if necessary. “alright, i think we should figure out how we met and how long we’ve been together. those are the stereotypical new couple questions.” wonwoo sounded like he knew what he was talking about, so you just went along with it. “how about, we met when i was working at that convenience store on the corner, and we’ve been together… 6 months?” you were completely pulling this out of thin air, but wonwoo hummed in agreeance on the other end of the phone call. “convenience store, 6 months. sounds believable to me.”
with everything clarified about your cousins wedding, all there was left to do was wait. well, besides finding something to wear, and packing, and tying any lose ends in your schoolwork. but other than that it was a breeze. the month did seem to fly by. in no time, you were fitting your suitcase into the trunk of wonwoo’s car and leaving to make the drive to your hometown. along the way, wonwoo made sure to ask lots of questions about your family and childhood friends, and you told him lots of stories as well. as you pulled into the driveway of your family home, you were hit with a wave of nostalgia. the house hadnt changed a bit in the years you were away.
as you and wonwoo got out of the car and began taking your luggage out, the front door of the house swung open and your mother rushed out, eager to see you after so long. she ran down the driveway in order to engulf you in a bear hug. you laughed as she squeezed you so hard you thought youd explode. your father stood in the doorway, arms crossed and a toothy grin across his face as he leaned against the doorframe. wonwoo shut the trunk of his car, and your mothers attention immediately switched to him. you laughed as he squeezed his cheeks and gave him an equally tight bear hug.
“oh its so nice to meet you dear! what did you say your name was?” your mother had her hands firmly planted on wonwoos shoulders as she smiled up at him. wonwoos eyes were bright and happy. “im wonwoo, its lovely to meet you mrs l/n.” your mother cooed at wonwoo as she pulled him in for another hug. she admired you and wonwoo together, until the fire alarm started blaring from the kitchen, prompting her to run past your father and back into the house. wonwoo picked up the bags as the two of you followed your mother into the house, albeit less rushed than she was.
your father automatically took a liking to wonwoo, talking to him at the table as you helped your mother finish dinner. the sight of them laughing together and your father lightly hitting wonwoos shoulder with a smile was such a warm moment. the domesticity of it all made your heart swell. with the ding of a timer, you and your mother brought the dishes over to the table and laid them in front of wonwoo and your father. wonwoo looked at the table in awe. you made sure to tell him that your mother wasnt the best at making the right portions, which was evident by the mountains of food sitting in front of you.
your mother took her seat next to your father, and you took the one across from her, on wonwoos right. he smiled at you as you sat down, and you smiled back, trying to ignore the pink flush you could feel hazing across your face. all the time you had known wonwoo, why was being around him making you feel this way now? you quickly pushed the thought aside as your mother began asking questions between bites.
“so, how long have you two lovebirds been together?” she had a smirk on her face as she glanced between you and wonwoo. wonwoo spoke before you got the chance. “we’ve known each other for longer, but i officially asked her to be my girlfriend 6 months ago.” the fond look on his face as he said this would make anyone melt. if you hadn’t been a part of the ruse, you wouldve never questioned the love in his eyes. damn, hes a good actor. he gazed over at you as he finished his sentence. you smiled back at him before turning to your mother. “our 6 month anniversary was actually last week.” your mother held her hands to her chest as she congratulated you both. wonwoo held your hand on the table as your mother began telling a story about how your father had originally asked her to be his girlfriend. you didnt hear much of the story over your own heartbeat ringing in your ears. wonwoos hand was warm, and much bigger than yours. you had decided that wonwoo was simply too good at acting the boyfriend role. did he have some secret girlfriend none of you knew about? was he taking classes? you tried to act casual as he rubbed his thumb along the back of your hand. you knew you couldnt overthink anything that would happen over the next week. it was all just for the act, right? right.
dinner went by in a blur, and soon you were being led to the spare room your mother had cleaned out for you and wonwoo to share. you shivered as you walked in. it was cooler in this room than the rest of the house. it wasnt major, though, so you didnt say anything to your mother about it. she smiled as she disappeared down the hallway, leaving you and wonwoo in the bedroom, alone. as soon as your mother left, wonwoo flopped down onto the bed in the middle of the room. you looked at him and laughed. he closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep, even though the growing smile on his face as you stood over him with your hands on your hips gave him away. you shook your head as you walked to the other side of the room where wonwoo put your bags. you rumaged through your bag for a sweater. you dug through the bag, but you couldnt find the one hoodie you swear you packed. defeated, you sat on the floor next to your bag and pulled out every item of clothing and put it in your lap. no sweater. with a frustrated sigh, you scooped everything back into your bag and stood up. at this point, wonwoo had sat up, his arms supporting his weight as he watched you get up.
“whats wrong?” he quirked an eyebrow. you gestured to your bag. “i forgot to pack a hoodie, i swear i did, but i mustve left it on my sofa.” wonwoo thought for a second before sitting up entirely. “here, take this.” he began taking off the hoodie he was wearing, and for a second, you couldnt take your eyes off of him. as he pulled the sweater over his head, the shirt he wore underneath rose with it, revealing his bare abs. you stood watching, mouth agape. everyone had said that wonwoo worked out a lot, but you had never seen the proof for yourself. you snapped out of it as he fixed his shirt and ran one hand through his hair, passing the sweater to you in the other. “oh wonwoo, its fine, i was just gonna ask my mom for one.” but, he wouldnt take no for an answer. he tilted his head to the side as he tossed the sweater in your direction. you caught it, and he smiled that gorgeous smile youve been seeing all day.
you pulled wonwoos hoodie over your head, and you were engulfed by the smell of his cologne. the scent overtook your senses as you situated yourself into the sweater. the warmth of the material mixed with wonwoos leftover body heat warmed you up instantly. so much that when you caught wonwoo staring at you wearing his hoodie, you didnt even feel the way your face instantly heated up as you sat on the bed next to him. he moved over to give you room to move further onto the bed, and suddenly the thought of being closer to wonwoo made your heart race.
wonwoo sat on the bed, typing away on his phone as you slid onto the mattress next to him. you watched him, focused on the message he was sending. the black tshirt he had been wearing under his hoodie was tight enough that it hugged all the parts of his body in the right ways. the way the fabric draped across his chest, and was rolled up at the sleeves. as wonwoo put his phone down and looked in your direction, you were quick to look away and take your own phone out of your pocket. luckily, he didnt seem to notice your staring. wonwoo looked past you, towards the clock above your head. “is it really that late already?” you glanced up at the time on your phone screen. “11:30? yeah, i guess.” wonwoo raised his eyebrows in surprise and stood up, leaving you by yourself on the bed. he began rummaging through his bag before pulling out a pair of sweatpants and another tshirt. he left the room without a word, presumably to go to the bathroom to change and get ready for bed. you did the same, shutting the door and quickly getting changed before he came back into the bedroom.
after getting changed, you lightly knocked on the bathroom door so you could brush your teeth. as you did, the door swung open and you were greeted by wonwoo with a toothbrush already hanging out of his mouth. you laughed to yourself as you walked past him in order to get to the sink. as you started brushing your teeth, you straightened your back and stood next to wonwoo in the mirror. not able to easily smile, you both did your best to smile at each other with your eyes through the vanity mirror. the two of you stood there in the mirror together, before wonwoo finished up and you followed behind him not long after.
when you walked into the bedroom, you were greeted with wonwoo creating a sort of barrier in the middle of the bed made of decorative throw pillows that your mother had laid out on the bed for when you got there. you stood in the doorway, letting him finish whatever he was doing before you began to question him. hearing the door shut, he turned around, and gestured to the bed. “i thought itd make you feel more comfortable.” you smiled at the sentiment, but you hadnt really thought to this point yet. you completely forgot about the fact that you and wonwoo would be sharing a bed for the next week. while you or wonwoo could have just slept on the sofa, the facade that you were busy putting on was more important. so, pillow barrier it was. you shivered as you snuggled under the duvet that was on the bed, still feeling that same chill that you did when you first walked into the room earlier that day. “goodnight, y/n.” wonwoos voice came from behind you. “goodnight, wonwoo.” you smiled as you said it, and wonwoo clicked the switch for the lamp, enveloping you both in the darkness of the night.
warmth. when you woke up the next morning, the first thing you noticed was the sudden warmth that you felt, compared to the chill from the night before. at first, you equated it to the shine of the sun that was streaming in through the cracks of the blinds. but it was a different warmth. you opened your eyes, curious to find the answers to your questions. somehow, as soon as your eyes fluttered open, all of your questions were answered in one glance. on the floor next to the bed laid one of your mothers decorative pillows, the ones that should have been in the middle of the bed, and not on the floor next to the (obviously broken) space heater. as you started to fully wake up, you felt slow, light breaths on the back of your neck. you also felt the arms snaked around your waist, and the hands that lightly rested on the mattress in front of you. your mind went blank. what were you supposed to do? move and wake him up? leave it and pretend it didnt happen? in the moment, you decided to go with the latter. carefully stretching towards the nightstand on your side of the bed, you grabbed your phone and pulled your arm back to your body. wonwoo stirred slightly, but stayed asleep. the clock on your phone read 6:00am, so you felt no reason to wake him up already.
you had no idea at what point in the night this had happened, but some part of you wasnt mad it happened. wonwoos body heat was enough to keep you warm, and youd be lying if you didnt like the feeling of his arms wrapping around you as you slept. the almost silent snores coming from behind you had somehow lulled you back to sleep, as you woke up 20 minutes later with your phone on the bed next to your pillow. you also noticed how your back was suddenly no longer covered, sending a shiver down your spine. when you heard the footsteps approaching the bedroom, you decided to just pretend you were still asleep instead of facing the events of the night. the door creaked and shut, as you felt the bed dip back down behind you. you didnt say anything, but soon after you felt the same arm creep back around your waist and settle back onto its previous place on the mattress. wonwoo settled into place, as did you.
the questions in your head did make some points. if wonwoo had accidentally started cuddling you at night, why would he return to the same position while awake? how would you address this? you just decided not to. the comfort of having him flush against your back overpowered the thoughts of wanting to stop it. you never wanted the morning to end, although you knew you obviously couldn’t stay in bed all day. it was still pretty early, so you just didn’t bother to worry about getting up just yet. your strategy of pretending to be asleep had been successful before. you closed your eyes as sun began to shine more brightly through the small opening in the curtains. maybe it was just your own, but as you felt yourself drift asleep again for the second time that morning, it was as if you could feel wonwoo’s own heartbeat against your back.
you weren’t sure how long you had slept, but you felt a light push on your shoulder as you began to feel yourself wake up again. “hey, wake up. it’s 8:00.” your eyes slowly opened as you looked over at wonwoo sitting on the edge of the bed. his hair was messy, and flat on one side. you smiled at the sight in front of you, as he scrunched his nose and ruffled his hair. god, he really was beautiful. you had always known that wonwoo was conventionally handsome. but seeing him in this context, just waking up as the sun shone on him, he was breathtaking. you quickly realized that you had been staring at him for longer than what seemed normal, so you began to sit up and try to wake up fully. you yawned and stretched as wonwoo walked in front of you to open the blinds all the way. you groaned and covered your eyes dramatically. wonwoo laughed, smiling down at you as you opened one eye and glared up at him. he picked up his clothes and made his way out of the bedroom. you watched as he left and shut the door behind him, and you sighed. this week just started, and the outcomes are already looking questionable for keeping your relationship the same as it was before.
as you left the bathroom after brushing your teeth, the smell of breakfast filled the hallways. your mother had always been the best chef, and her cooking was one of your favourite things about coming home. you walked back to the bedroom and peeked through the door, only to notice that wonwoo was nowhere to be seen. thats when you heard your parents laughter travel up the staircase. you briefly smiled to yourself as you grabbed your phone from the bed and shoved it in your pocket. you headed downstairs and saw your parents and wonwoo sitting in the same seats as they had been the evening before. they all smiled brightly as you walked through the kitchen. “good morning sweetheart!” your mother beamed as she gestured for you to come eat. you sat down with wonwoo on your left again, and smiled at him as you reached past him for a pitcher of water to pour some into your glass. your mother gushed at this small interaction, making a comment to your father about how much the two of you remind her of them as young adults. “how did you both sleep? well rested for the festivities?” you both smiled and nodded as wonwoo spoke. “we slept well! i cant wait to meet more of your family, if they’re all like you three im in for a great week.” he grinned as your parents erupted with laughter and joy. wonwoo was always one for buttering up people, and god was he good at it. a small smile crept onto your face as your parents started telling wonwoo all about your family. you ate quietly as he sat listening intently to everything your mother was telling him.
the wedding wasnt for another two days, but your family had planned a small get-together prior just for everyone to warm up and see each other before the wedding. yourself and wonwoo had decided to just tag along with your parents rather than drive two separate cars. this party was more casual than the wedding, so you didn’t have to dress up that much. the two of you sat in silence in the backseat as your parents spoke amongst themselves. without warning, wonwoos hand made its way to your thigh, just above your knee. you looked down as his hand made contact with your skin through the rip in your jeans. he didnt bat an eye. he continued looking out the window, or looking at his phone. meanwhile, you tried to act like his touch didnt send electricity coursing through your body. without any second thought, you rested your hand on his and looked straight ahead as you tried to ignore your heartbeat pounding in your ears.
as you arrived at your aunts house, you noticed the amount of cars parked outside. you know your family is large, but visualizing it like this makes it seem crazy. your eyes widened at the sight, and you could even hear some of your families laughter before you even got inside. wonwoo walked by your side into the house. the same hum of talking remained for moments before everyone realized that more family had joined them. the house erupted, with aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents all rushing over to greet the four of you. you hugged all of them, muttering quick ‘hello’s and giving smiles to relatives you hadnt seen in years. after some time everyone began returning to their prior seats, and you all followed suit. in the commotion, you hadn’t even noticed wonwoos hand had come to rest on your lower back.
as you sat down, it felt as though all eyes in the room gravitated to yourself and wonwoo. you looked around before clearing your throat. “everyone, this is my boyfriend wonwoo!” wonwoo smiled and gave a small wave. your family all smiled and started introducing themselves at once. you both laughed at the acts, but he made sure to speak to every person who was there. they all immediately adored him. you spent the evening catching up with family and exchanging old childhood memories. wonwoo chatted with your family as well, telling them about his life and family, as well as your ‘relationship’. throughout the night, his arm stayed wrapped around your shoulders the entire time. every so often when conversation died down you would look up at him to notice he had already been looking at you. you both giggled and turned away, somewhat flustered by the other.
your parents checked the time, noticing that it had been way later than they thought it was. you all stood up and began saying your goodbyes. as you spoke to your cousin who was getting married, you stifled a yawn. wonwoo noticed and smiled to himself as his arm found its way around your waist. he congratulated your cousin, and talked to her for a bit as you found yourself slowly sinking into wonwoos side. “i think someones tired, we should get going.” he and your cousin laughed as you nodded your head. you gave her one last hug as you followed your parents out of the house and back into the car. on the way back to the house, you had rested your head on wonwoos shoulder. as you fell in and out of consciousness, wonwoos hand lightly patted your head as you yawned.
you felt the car come to a stop as you pulled back into your parents driveway. you lifted your head and looked around, catching wonwoos eye as he gave you a fond look. you both got out of the car and went straight to your room after saying goodnight to your parents. rooting through your suitcase, you grabbed some pajamas and headed for the bathroom to change and get ready for bed. you drowsily brush your teeth, as theres a quiet knock at the door. opening the door, youre met with wonwoo, toothbrush in hand. you try to give him a smile as you move over to give him some room. since coming to your parents house, brushing your teeth together had become a common occurrence. it was peaceful, and the silence was never awkward. although, it was rare for you and wonwoo to encounter awkward silence at any moment. silence with him was always calm, never awkward. you both just enjoyed each others company, and you both knew that. after a couple minutes of standing together at the sink, you both finished getting ready and went back to the bedroom. too tired to worry about wonwoos pillow ‘solution’ from the night before, you both just crawled into bed facing away from each other. you muttered goodnights as he flicked off the lamp.
you found yourself waking up at some point in the middle of the night shivering. the room had cooled off more than it was before, and the one blanket you had wasnt doing the best job. the air conditioning had to be on the lowest setting possible. you could still hear wonwoos soft snores as you moved gingerly and stood up, so you assumed he was still fast asleep. as you walked past the end of the bed, you heard him speak in a low whisper. “where are you going?” he was groggy, his eyes barely opening to look at you in the dark. “oh, im cold so im just going to grab another blanket. you can go back to sleep.” he nodded gently as his head layed back down on the pillow. you made your way to your mothers linen closet and grabbed a fluffy blanket from the top of the pile. as you got back in bed and snuggled back in with the other blanket, you heard wonwoos voice again. “wanna come over here?” you turned over in confusion to look at him, but them you saw what he meant. his arm was lifted, inviting you to snuggle into him. as you shivered again, you thought, ‘whats the worst that could happen?’ so, you shifted towards wonwoo until you met his chest and his arms wrapped the blankets around the two of you. with one of his arms under your head and the other around your waist, you pressed your head to his chest and drifted away to the sound of his heartbeat.
waking up in wonwoos arms again was a shocking experience for half asleep you. as you slowly felt yourself waking up, the warmth surrounding you yet again confused you for a moment. you blinked yourself awake before remembering the events of the middle of the night. the air in the room remained slightly cool as you began to slip out from underneath the blankets. wonwoo had always been a heavy sleeper, as he didnt budge when you snuck out from his hold. you made your way out of the room, the air in the rest of the house feeling the same as it did in your bedroom. you noticed the early morning sun that had been shining through the blinds. suddenly, you realized it may have been earlier than you thought. you shut the bedroom door as quietly as you could behind you when you returned, even though you knew wonwoo was sound asleep anyways. sitting on the side of the bed, you picked up your phone from the table where it sat. 5:47am. so it was way earlier than you thought. you settled back into the blankets, glancing over to see wonwoo in the same way he was when you left. lips slightly parted, long eyelashes resting on his cheeks. he looks so content. as carefully as you can, you lift his arm up and nestle back into his body. although he seemed as though he was in deep sleep when you got back, you couldnt help but notice the arm around your waist lightly squeeze as you nuzzle your face into the crook between his neck and his shoulder.
the next couple of days went by generally the same as the past two did. visiting family, spending time with your parents, just taking time to relax and be at home. acting as a couple actually wasn’t as difficult as you expected it to be. the most you would have to do is recite the backstory you had both made up, or hold hands every now and then to look believable. it felt like no time before it the day of the wedding, and you were all getting ready to head to the wedding hall. you fought to curl your hair in the mirror, but couldnt quite reach one part in the back. this caught wonwoo’s attention, as he made it was over to you behind the mirror. you sighed, making eye contact with him in the mirror. “do you want some help? i can finish it for you.” he reached for the curling iron as you nodded. “i just cant get that one piece, does the rest look okay?” you watched as he tilted his head in concentration while he curled the last few pieces of hair on the back of your head. “turn around.” you turned to face him as he inspected your hair. he fluffed up some pieces, then moved his hands to rest on either side of your face. “it looks great.” for a second, you couldve sworn the love in his eyes was genuine. well, you knew he had love for you, but in a platonic way. but this look felt like a different type of love. before you could process anything that had happened, your mother appeared in the doorway. “oh, arent you two just beautiful?” she crossed her arms and leaned on the doorway. you both stood to face her so she could admire your dress and wonwoos suit. wonwoo had made an effort to get a tie that matched your dress. it didnt take long for your mother to notice the small sentiment as she raved about how cute it is and left to go tell your father. after close to an hour of getting ready in preparation for a wedding that wasnt even your own, you all made your way into your parents’ car and were officially enroute to the wedding.
the wedding venue was absolutely beautiful. decorated from floor to ceiling with white and gold decorations, you walked in and your jaw dropped. you admired everything as wonwoo stood by your side, also taking in all the glamour of the space. after taking the time to appreciate the decor, wonwoo lightly takes your hand and pulls you into the wedding hall, trailing behind your parents. your parents picked a seat close to the front in order to get a good view of the ceremony. with different members of your extended family surrounding you, you felt right at home. wonwoos hand never left yours from the moment you both stepped into the venue. everyone quietly spoke amongst each other as they all waited for the wedding to begin. you told wonwoo about all the family members you could see, telling him small anecdotes and childhood stories. wonwoo always seemed to be so attentive. you loved that part of him. it didnt feel like long before the music queued and the wedding party began entering the room. you watched as your aunts, uncles, cousins, and their partners all walked into the room in pairs. you began tearing up at the sight of your family all looking so proud of your cousin. wonwoo noticed, squeezing your hand and lightly running his thumb along your knuckles. you wrapped your arm around his as your cousin turned the corner. she was absolutely stunning. you looked towards the front of the room to see her soon-to-be husband in tears at the sight of her. the display of love made you cry as well. all you had wanted since you were a young child was a love like they have now. as your cousin made her way down the aisle, wonwoo silently wiped your tears and squeezed your hand yet again. you gave him a thankful smile as he put his free hand on top of your intertwined fingers.
the rest of the wedding was just as heartwarming as the beginning. more tears were shed, smiles were had, it was a beautiful experience. as the wedding party all exited the room, you sat in wonwoos presence as the guests around you broke out into a chatter about how beautiful the wedding was. in the hum of the crowd, wonwoo watched you in a silent effort to make sure you were feeling okay. you had told him in a drunken rant in the weeks preceding the wedding how much you didnt want to go home because everyone was in love and happy together, and all you had was school and friends. you reassured wonwoo that you appreciate what you have, but as he practically carried you through your apartment, he could hear the sadness and disappointment in your voice through the intoxication. he never brought this up after, but this did make him want to go to this wedding and take care of you even more. as everyone in the wedding hall began standing up and getting ready to leave, wonwoo patted your thigh gently as you both joined everyone else. your parents waited by the door for the two of you to exit through the flood of people. on the drive back, your parents had plenty to say about the newlyweds and the wedding as a whole. you chimed in occasionally, but you were perfectly content with listening to your mothers rambling uninterrupted.
when you get home, you decide to stay in the same dress you had worn for the wedding ceremony, as the wedding dance and reception were only hours later. you relax in the family room with wonwoo, watching whatever your parents had been watching on tv before you left. you sit in the same comfortable silence that you two always manage to seek out. you drape your legs across his lap as he mindlessly draws invisible patterns along your legs with his fingers. interrupting the tv show, your phone rings. hoshi? you answer the phone and put it on speaker.
“y/n!! hows it going, loverboy giving you any trouble?” wonwoo rolls his eyes at hoshis obnoxious tone, but cant help the laugh escaping his body. you flash him a teasing smile.
“no hosh, im keeping him in line, dont worry.”
“you better be, im not there to do it so i was getting worried.”
wonwoo began playfully arguing with hoshi through the phone as you hold the phone and giggle at their antics. they go on and on for a couple minutes, before wonwoo inevitably gives up. hoshis persistence is truly something to be reckoned with. hoshi has some last final parting words before abruptly ending the phone call.
“have fun lovebirds, see you soon! i dont want to be a godfather yet though!”
you both laugh at him again, letting the silence fall back into the room. before long, its time to go back to the wedding hall for the reception. you find your seats next to your parents as the food begins to be served. wonwoo spots the open bar across the room, and asks if youd like a drink. you give him a nod and hes off to grab refreshments. you dont bother with specifics, as you trust wonwoos knowledge about your taste. he comes back with two glasses, and places one on the table in front of you. smiling in acknowledgement, he gives you a nod. you listen to speeches and songs, before the meal is over and the crowd is brought to the dance floor. being a couple drinks deep so far, you try to convince wonwoo to get up and dance with you. youve always been sort of a lightweight, but you also know your limits. sometimes. wonwoo, however, doesnt have the same taste for alcohol that you do. so he has one or two, and switches to soda before he even feels the slightest bit tipsy. still trying to drag him to the dance floor, you ask wonwoo to come with you in the nicest most stable voice you could muster. he gives in, following you out and joining the many people already enjoying the dj’s music.
you both get a taxi home, as your parents arent the party animals they used to be. wonwoo tries to bring you in quietly, but youre as stable and discrete as a baby giraffe in a china shop. after managing to successfully sneak you into the bedroom without angering your parents, he closes the door as you stumble to the bed and flop back into the blankets. wonwoo hangs his suit jacket on the back of the door and begins gathering his clothes to go get changed in the bathroom. as his hand touches the doorknob, he hears distinct babbling coming from the bed behind him. he turns around to see you staring at the ceiling, and he’s unsure if youre talking to yourself or him.
“what was that?”
you turn your head towards him and smile. “youre sooo handsome woo. im just so happy that youre my fake boyfriend.”
he laughs at this sudden proclamation. he sits on the bed next to you and leans back onto his arms, gazing down at you. “you're pretty sweet too, y/n. i couldnt ask for a better fake girlfriend.”
“but you knowww…” you attempt to whisper to him, as if it was a secret to him and yourself. “i couldddd be your real girlfriend toooooooo..” you give him a gleeful smile, your eyes closed. he brushes a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “is that so?” you nod profusely as he says this. he chuckles and stands up, tapping your leg.
“youve got to get ready for bed, you cant sleep in your dress and makeup.” you sit up in a slouch, giving wonwoo a disapproving look. he puts his hand out to help you up, and you gladly take it. he brings you to the bathroom and hoists you onto the counter, shutting the door to create a barrier between your elevated drunken volume and your parents’ bedroom. he takes a makeup wipe out of its packaging as he places his hand along your neck with his thumb on your jaw, holding your face in its place. you close your eyes as the cold cloth comes into contact with your face. you shiver a little as wonwoo readjusts his grip on your face. when hes done, he pats your thigh as a signal to slide off the countertop. you jump down and try to follow him back into the bedroom, but before you leave he passes you your pajamas to get changed into. you reluctantly return back to the bathroom and try to change as carefully as you can. once you get back into the bedroom, wonwoo is in his pajamas, climbing into bed. you jaunt across the room onto your side, and as soon as wonwoo is settled in, you slowly snuggle into his side. he wraps both arms around you, wrapping you in a warm cocoon of blankets and his body. before you drift off, you mumble “love you woo” into his chest. he knows it was the drunk you speaking, but he makes sure to whisper “love you too y/n” into the quiet night.
the last morning waking up in wonwoos arms was no different from any of the other days. you try to savour this time a little bit longer, but he soon starts to stir and slowly gets out of bed. you can tell that he thought you were asleep by how carefully he was moving. when he comes back, youre sitting up in the bed on your phone. he’s taken aback, and begins to apologize for waking you up. you reassure him that you were already awake which calms his nerves. while wonwoo is in the bathroom, you begin packing your stuff back into the suitcase you brought with you. when hes ready, you switch places, now with you in the bathroom and wonwoo packing his stuff. you both decide to hit the road early, so youre not getting home tired late at night.
after saying many goodbyes to your family you're hitting the road again. after some time, wonwoo suddenly chimes in. “um, do you remember anything you said last night when we got back from the reception?” youre taken aback by the question, trying to replay every moment of the night. you shake your head. “but im definitely sorry for whatever it may have been.” you both chuckle, as wonwoo turns it over in his head, trying to decide whether or not to continue on this train of thought. “its just…” hes made his decision. “i was thinking about how people say drunk words are sober thoughts, and your drunk words said some things that i actually agree with.” at this point youve turned fully towards him in your seat, trying to figure out what he was about to say next. he takes a deep breath before continuing. “when we were getting ready for bed you said.. you said you wished that this-” he gestures between the two of you, “-wasnt fake. and ive been turning that over and over in my head because… i feel that way too.” the tips of his ears are bright red, and his grip on the steering wheel has tightened slightly. you watch as he tries to calm himself down enough to continue. you decide to let him finish before speaking. “the last few days has made me feel so happy. being around you makes my days better. you don't have to feel the same, you dont even have to say anything if you don't want to. i just.. i had to say something.” you smile at him as you place your hand lightly on his arm. now, its your turn to speak. “wonwoo, you don't understand how difficult it has been to try not to fall for you in the last week. everything you do makes my heart flutter. ive been dreading the day this whole scheme was over. i do wish this wasnt fake. i want this to be our everyday life wonwoo. i want this to be us.” his hand finds yours as a smile overtakes his face. you hold his hand in yours, not wanting to ever let go. wonwoo glances over at you. “i cant believe that the girl i met at the convenience store is finally my girlfriend after us dating for 6 months.” you laugh, letting your head rest against the car headrest as you let the quiet music from the radio fill the silence.
you should've known this fake relationship would last longer than the week you signed up for.

wordcount - 2.0k
disclaimers - not proofread, lowercase on purpose, reader's gender not specified, fic under the cut
a/n - this is partially a continuation of my last fic, question...?, its not like directly connected but reading that one would make little parts of this one make more sense! this one is also loosely based off of a taylor swift song, that song being sweet nothing from her new album. vernon and taylor is very special to me. i hope u enjoy! this is just a self indulgent fluff fic (aka most of what i write anyways). if you guys like this i might make an svt x midnights kind of series thing, im not sure if thats something anyone would be interested in but either way i hope u enjoy this one ^^
Tumblr media
since your friendship rekindling, you and vernon had spent more and more time together with every week. he practically lived with you for a week or two. you both enjoyed having each others company, and were both eager to catch up and learn new things together. movie nights, 2am walks, baking (and burning) cookies. it was as if you had never lost any time.
in your reunition, you both agreed to try to steer away from romance for a little while. you both didnt want to rush into things, and just wanted to focus on re-befriending each other first. in the moment, it seemed like a great idea. and it was. except for during the overtly domestic moments you two spend together.
one rainy night while you were both watching movies in the comfort of your living room, you weren’t exactly focused on the movie. you were doing everything in your power to not constantly look at vernon. he was beautiful. like, beautiful. you glanced over at him from your opposite side of the sofa, his eyes locked into the tv and his features relaxed. seeing him made you feel warm. he made you feel like home. seeing him in this light reminded you of being in high school and staying up way later than you should have on school nights.
you two were always the pair that everyone assumed would grow old together. everyone thought you were bound to be the high school sweethearts who remained sweethearts. in high school, you both were adamant about the fact that you were just friends. albeit, you always wanted more, but youd never dare to tell vernon that. little did you know, he wouldve scooped you up at the first opportunity. you were always comfortable with your friendship. that being said, you both did drunkenly kiss at a couple parties. but that was ‘forgotten’ by morning.
as the end credits rolled on the tv, you got up and made your way to your bedroom in order to stop yourself from falling completely head over heels in love with vernon. you were convinced that five more minutes on that couch with him would have driven you to insanity. you run your fingers through your hair and plug your phone in, anything to keep your mind busy. you sit down at your desk, running your fingers along the small items that take up space there. your eyes fixate on a small rock. you pick it up and roll it around in your palm. vernon always had a habit of giving you simple things that caught his eye, even when you were kids. its nice to know that some things never change.
you lay the rock back down in its place on your desk as you stand up and head back out into the main part of your apartment. vernon is sitting in his same position on the couch, scrolling on his phone. you yawn and sit back down, browsing the different movies and tv shows on netflix. you feel vernons eyes on you as you yawn again. “are you tired? we can just go to bed you know.” you try to play it off and act like youre not tired but yet another yawn proves you wrong. vernon laughs and stands up, folding the blanket that was in his lap and placing it back down onto the sofa. he stretches his arms over his head, and you practically have to peel your eyes away from watching his shirt trail up his stomach, revealing a thin strip of skin above the waistband of his sweatpants.
you both make your way to bed, vernon retreating to the guest bedroom that he had basically made his home for weeks. with small smiles and a mumbled ‘goodnight’, you both head off to bed. you flick the switch on your bedside lamp as you crawl into bed and scroll on your phone. in the silence, you hear the rain outside begin to pick up more. then follows the thunder. the lightning of the storm illuminates your room, and before long the entire apartment is drained of light. usually if the power goes out, it comes back on within the minute. but you wait for what seems like forever, and nothing. you never were scared of the dark, but power outages always make the hair stand up on the back of your neck. you sit up in your bed and turn on the flashlight on your phone, filling the room with enough light for you to see. you quickly send a text to vernon and await his response.
y/n : are you awake?
vern :P : yeah, the storm kept me awake. why arent you asleep?
y/n : i was on my phone, but now im kind of spooked because of the power outage and cant sleep :/
vern :P : come to my room, even just until the power comes back on
you meekly make your way out into the hall, quietly pushing your bedroom door shut behind you. as you open the door to the guest bedroom, your phone flashlight fills the room. vernon is laying in the bed with the blanket pulled up to his chest, and you catch a glimpse of his bare shoulders. he pulls the blanket back and invites you in, and you happily oblige. its nice and warm under the covers, so you settle in next to vernon. you face each other in bed, exchanging smiles in the dark. after a moment, you feel yourself drifting off. a chill runs down your body, which signals vernon to move in closer. you feel his breath warm against your forehead as his arm wraps around your waist, tugging you even closer to his body. you hope you can melt fully into his touch. the place on your waist where his arm lays feels as though it is about to burst into flames. in a final effort to hide your bright red cheeks and ears, you bury your face into his neck. even though he wouldnt have been able to see your blush in the dark, he feels the warmth of your face against his skin anyways. but he’ll let you believe you were being discrete.
you wake up to the streaks of light coming in through the window. you shift to your back, picking up your phone to check the time. 8:04am. vernon stirs in his sleep and wraps both arms around your torso, squeezing you close to his body. you smile to yourself as you run your arms around his neck and settle back into the bed. as you drift back into sleep, you swear you feel a small kiss pressed to your temple. you both wake up a couple hours later, bodies intertwined and breaths shared. vernon hovers over you as he reaches for his phone and you look up at him as his hair falls around his face. when he settles back down next to you, you reach for your own phone. you both lay in silence before you swing your legs over the side of the bed and get up. vernon makes a noise of disapproval as you stand up and turn to face him. he pouts as you laugh at his mannerisms.
“where are you going?” he drops his phone on the mattress and turns to face you entirely. “vernon its 11am, we have to get up at some point.” you say as you chuckle. he slowly reaches over and grabs the hem of your shirt, causing you to lose your balance and land back in the bed with him. he has a satisfied smile on his face as he tucks his face into your neck. you cant help but smile as you run a hand through his hair, which makes him shiver. you both sit like that for a few minutes before vernon obliges and lets you get ready for the day. at that point, you just wanted to lay with vernon forever. but you knew that wasnt an option.
vernon has to go home for some things that day, so you decide to work on some assignments that you have coming up. you spend all day in your office, working away and listening to music. you dont realize how long youve been working until vernon lightly taps on your office door, startling you slightly. you pause your music as you turn towards him. he smiles at your slightly shocked but happy face. “i brought us food, i know youve had a long week.” your heart feels warm at the kind gesture. “oh vern youre the best. let me finish up this paper and ill be right out okay?” he nods with a kind smile as he turns away back to the kitchen. you try to finish the assignment as quick as you can so you can spend more time with vernon. finally clicking the submit button, you turn off your computer and head out to the kitchen.
as you get closer to the kitchen, you hear a quiet humming meeting your ears. as you stand in the doorway, you encounter the source of the tune. vernon stands at the fridge, humming the tune of a song you dont recognize. he doesnt realize youre in the room yet, so you stand and observe him. he has to crouch to see into your fridge, hes taller now than he was when you saw him last. you smile to yourself. you cant believe how lucky you are, to be reunited with the person you never thought youd see again. as youre staring fondly, he closes the fridge door and stands up. he jumps slightly when he notices you, but he smiles after. seems you were both scaring each other today. you giggle as you step closer to him and he pulls you into his arms. you both sway back and forth in the dimmed kitchen lights. this is love. platonic or romantic, it doesnt matter. its love. he rests his cheek on top of your head as you close your eyes and sink into his chest. you stand in silence before he breaks it. “wanna go turn on another movie while we eat?” you nod and break away to the sofa.
you both spend 5 minutes trying to find a good movie to watch before you start eating. it was always a tradition between you two, you couldnt start a meal until you both settled on a movie or tv show to watch. you both finally found the perfect movie, so you were able to start with your meal. after you both finished eating, you realized there was only one blanket left on the sofa. you glance at each other before vernon unfolds it and pats his chest, signalling you to share the blanket with him. obviously you take his offer. you lay your head on vernons chest, legs intertwined and the sound of his heartbeat playing in your ear like its your favourite song. he runs his fingers through your hair, and all of a sudden the movie is no more. you turn to lay on your stomach and look into vernons eyes. you see his eyes flicker down to your lips, the same way they did that night at the party when you met each other again for the first time in years. you lean in first this time, tenderly kissing him in the tv light. you feel him pull you closer as he deepens the kiss. when you both pull away, breathless, we gives you one more kiss on the forehead as you lay your head back onto his chest and slowly drift off to sleep. when he thinks youre asleep, vernon whispers “i love you” into your hair. you smile as you quietly say “i love you too” without opening your eyes to see his reaction.

you laughed at daisy as she used her hairbrush as a microphone while she sang along to her music in the mirror. sitting on her bed watching her get ready was always your pre-party ritual. she was invited to a halloween party that one of her friends was throwing at their frat house, which was something you would never find yourself even considering if it weren’t for daisy. its not that you were sheltered or a homebody, you just found yourself not fully immersing into the party scene. but, a party here or there with daisy always proved itself to be a good idea. mostly.
daisy focused intently on her face in the mirror as she worked hard trying to draw skeleton makeup. whereas you just simply put together some clothes you already had and decided to be a baseball player. you had suggested she take the easy route and just match with you, but she had apparently practiced her skeleton makeup all week. you had no idea where she found the time to do this between all of her classes, but her art degree does tie in to her halloween costume in some degree. you dramatically flopped back onto her bed as daisy’s playlist transitioned between songs.
“who’s even going to this party anyways?” you didnt look up from your phone as you awaited her response. “well you know soonyoung. him and a bunch of his friends are in a frat. they throw parties all the time but the holiday ones are always better anyways.” you had met soonyoung briefly before through daisy. she met him in one of their shared courses. they were, in your opinion, the closest you could get to two of the same exact people. with their shared interests, senses of humour, and basically identical personalities, they were bound to be best friends. “oh, and his friends are really hot. like, really hot. maybe we’ll find you a man tonight?” she put the cap on her eyeliner pencil and stepped back from the mirror, admiring the final product. you rolled your eyes playfully and sat up. “why are you so obsessed with me finding a man? youre single too, remember.” you gave her an accusatory look, but she just brushed you off. “for me its different. how does this look?” she posed as you gave her a small clap for her hard work. you both laughed as you got up and started gathering everything and getting ready to leave.
you swore you could feel the music as you pulled onto the street of the frat house. the windows were ablaze with rainbow lights streaming out, and halloween decorations flooding the entire outside. there were cars lined down the street, and daisy pulled up behind one a couple houses down the street. she checked her makeup in the car mirror before turning the car off and gathering her things. you shoved your phone and house keys into your pocket as you stepped out onto the sidewalk, waiting for daisy to join you. walking in front of her car, she flashed you a smile as you both headed into the party.
the music blared as you opened the door. the party wasn’t totally packed, but it was a moderate amount of people. daisy greeted people youd never seen as she waded through the crowd to either find soonyoung or the drink table, whichever came first. although the party wasnt extremely packed, it was easy to lose daisy. but it always was. she had a habit of randomly disappearing at parties. part of you began to believe it was her plan all along, basically forcing you to meet new people and make new friends. you looked away for a second and when you looked back, she was gone. so, you might as well just venture off on your own. you managed to find the drink table before she did, so you mixed yourself a drink and tried to seek out someone you may know. daisy introduces you to her friends and classmates often, but finding the people you remember begins to prove itself to be harder than you once thought.
you turn a corner and collide directly with the chest of someone slightly taller than you are. the stumble leads to your drink spilling all over your shirt. you laugh awkwardly as the person you bumped into apologizes profusely. you glance up and see a guys face hidden behind a masquerade mask. he mumbles something about helping and lightly holds your wrist, dragging you through the crowd. you follow him blindly through a hallway and into one of the rooms in the house, assuming its his bedroom. so he must be one of soonyoungs friends? you dont get much time to react before he lays a plain white t-shirt in your hands. even behind the mask, you can see the sympathetic look on his face. “it might ruin the purpose of your costume but.. at least you won’t have to be all sticky?” you both laugh at the unintentional innuendo of what he said, but you thank him lots before finding a vacant bathroom and sneaking in to change into the mystery man’s shirt.
you keep replaying his words in your head. more specifically his laugh. while you cant quite put a finger on it, he sounds too familiar to leave it to a simple coincidence. as you look in the mirror wearing his shirt, a lightbulb flickers on in your mind. is mystery man… not a mystery at all?
“stop!”
you were breathless from laughing. your stomach was in stitches as you collapsed onto the floor of vernon’s room. he had been doing the same stupid impression of your history teacher that always made you laugh. he knew just the thing to cheer you up after anything happened. he lays down on the floor next to you. you turn your head towards him as he pulls you closer and you lay your head on his chest. he runs an arm up and down your back as you both lay on the worn down carpet in silence.
being with vernon was effortless. he cared about you more than he cared about anyone else, even himself. he’d do anything to see you smile, and proved this daily. vernon gave you a comfort that you’d never felt with anyone else. so when he found out that his family were moving across the country in your last year of high school, he had to find the best way to tell you. he wanted to be the person who always made you happy, how could he cause you this sadness?
vernon cleared his throat as he spoke. “i have to tell you something. i wish i didn’t, but i know that it’s better to tell you sooner than later.” as he said this, you sat up and furrowed your brows as you looked down at him. and that’s when he broke the news. you tried to remain strong but you knew that you couldn’t hold it in forever. you cried into vernons shoulder as he promised the two of you would stay in touch.
and you did. for a couple months. after that, school for both of you got busier and then you had to worry about university and your following careers. all the things you had both planned to do together, you had to navigate on your own. it was hard. but you made it. both of you made it.
you had never expected to run into vernon again. especially not like this. did he remember you? or did he just do this favour for you out of the kindness of his own heart? at this point, it had been 4 years since you and vernon were last in contact. standing in the bathroom, you kept replaying the moment in your mind over and over again. the laugh. vernon’s laugh. having to explain this to someone, you set out to find daisy as soon as possible. you ended up finding her in the kitchen speaking to someone, and you gave them a quick smile as you dragged her away into the bathroom you had just left.
“i have a situation.” you gave her a serious look, but she was just confused. and a little tipsy. she tilted her head, as if signaling you to continue with more of your story. “you remember me telling you about vernon right? my high school best friend, had crazy feelings, probably would have dated if he didn’t move away in our last year of high school?” daisy nodded along, still not understanding where you were going with all of this. “well hes here. in this frat. at this party.” and this is where daisy finally got caught up. she was taken aback, but then excitement took over. “oh my god are you serious? did he remember you? are you guys gonna live happily ever after? did he faint when he saw how hot you are now?” maybe she was a bit more than tipsy. you put your hands on her shoulders to steady her and explain how you had barely spoken to him, so you had no way of knowing if he actually remembered you or not. she obviously was adamant that you go find him immediately and rekindle your old flame. the thought made you nervous, but the idea of the regret if you didn’t do it outweighed your nervousness. daisy gave you a pep talk before disappearing into the sea of people, leaving you to take some deep breaths and follow after her.
as you’re making your way back to the drink table, you feel a light tap on your shoulder. as you turn around, you’re met with the same silver masquerade mask, this time holding two red solo cups. he holds one out, and you take it with a smile. “it only felt right, since i kind of catapulted your other one all over you.” you laughed as you took a sip. “oh wow, this is really good, thank you so much.” he chuckles and you both make eye contact, which lingers for a split second longer than it typically should. it feels as though you can see the moment of realization in his eyes as it finally clicks in his mind. his eyes brighten.
“no way… it’s really you?” you both laugh as he brings you in for a tight hug. as he pulls away, he takes the mask off of his face. wow. vernon was always handsome, but something about him now was breathtaking. you basked in him, as he looked you up and down. his eyes finally met your lips, before slowing trailing up your face and gazing into your own eyes. he looked stunned. you weren’t exactly the epitome of fashion, in your knee high baseball socks and backwards hat. but to him, you were the one thing missing from his life. he leans in closer as you take a step towards him. “i know this might be too soon, but can i kiss you?” you slyly smile as you stretch up to meet him and say, “more like not soon enough.”
you felt like your entire body was melting into vernons arms. you were the only two people in your world. nothing else in the room mattered. in the distance, you could hear laughing and cheering from someone you could only assume was daisy. you both pulled away, breathless. for the rest of the night, you were attached at the hip. vernons arm around your waist, hands intertwined, you clinging to vernons arm, you never left each other’s side. something told you that you couldn’t let the other go again. as the night went on, you started to get tired and tried to find daisy to see if she was ready to go home. as you walked into the kitchen, you saw daisy sitting on the counter with soonyoung standing in front of her. as you tried to stabilize your vision, you realized that they were making out. called it.
you returned to where vernon was sitting on the couch and told him you would have to wait until they were… done… before you could go home. “i could bring you home.” vernon immediately stood up and headed to his room to get his keys. you followed behind. “are you sure? i know its out of your way, i can just wait.” he shook his head as he passed you the bag with your clothes from earlier in it. you give him an appreciative smile as you follow him outside into his car. you input your address into the gps as vernon sets up his music. the ride over is filled with the two of you catching up, telling stories about university and what you’ve been up to since you last saw each other.
pulling into your apartment complex, you didn’t want the night with vernon to end. as he parked his car, you gave him a sweet look. “walk me up to my apartment?” he takes his keys out of the ignition. “i thought you’d never ask.” you both walk into your apartment building as you lead vernon to your apartment. when you reach your door and you unlock the door, vernon stands with his hands in his pockets as you turn back around to look at him. you pause for a moment, before breaking the silence.
“sleepover? for old times sake?”
he gives you the biggest smile and wraps an arm around your waist as he follows you inside.

“i got in!”
you burst into your best friends bedroom holding the acceptance letter you had just opened. soonyoung knew you were stressed about being accepted to your dream university, so this sudden appearance put him at ease on your behalf. he jumped up and gave you a tight hug, both of you with wide smiles plastered across your face. “i told you! you just had to be patient.” you did a little happy dance and soonyoung chuckled as he picked up his jacket. you tilted your head confused. “where are you going?” he shuffled you out of his bedroom as he shut the door. “what do you think? we’re going out to celebrate obviously, this is a big deal!” you laughed as you followed him down the stairs and out the front door of his house.
you and soonyoung had been friends since you first met in daycare when you were both 3. the two of you instantly clicked, so since that day you had been attached at the hip. in the years, your families had gotten close as well, so it was normal for you both to just show up at the other’s home unannounced. whenever you both had free time you were together. you both experienced everything together. first kisses, first relationships, first heartbreaks, the other was always there. you were each others lifelines.
as soonyoung pulled into your favourite restaurant in your small town, you dug through your bag to find your wallet and pull out the cash within. he shot you an accusatory look. “what?” he took the cash and put it back in your wallet, making you gasp. “you just got into your dream school, lunch is on me today.” you rolled your eyes but couldnt hold back your smile as you climbed out of soonyoungs car. he held his arm out theatrically so you could link yours in his. he always had a flair for the dramatics, you always told him he wouldve been a great actor. you follow along and link your arm in his to make him happy.
making your way to your usual table, you both say hello to the waitress standing at the counter. you both became regulars over the years, since you both lived within walking distance. the waitress came over and gave you both bright smiles as she pulled out a notepad, awaiting your orders. you ordered first, then she turned towards soonyoung. he gave her his order, but then made a point to include one extra. “and a large chocolate milkshake.” the waitress raised her eyebrows and looked between the two of you. “you two only order milkshakes on special occasions, whats todays?” before you got a chance to speak, soonyoung was already bragging about you. “y/n just got into her dream university, their acceptance rate is really low so today is a huge deal.” he smiled proudly as you turned a shade of pink. the waitress said her congratulations, and then hurried off to another table. soonyoung sat across the table, looking satisfied with himself. you tried to give him a stern look but couldnt quite keep the smile down.
after eating, you both just decided to go back to his house and watch some movies. the best thing about spending all of your time together was the fact that the two of you had similar tastes in just about everything. between movies, music, and tv shows, it was rare to find something that one of you liked and the other didnt. you were basically the same person just in slightly different forms. when you got to soonyoung’s home, you both changed into comfortable clothes and settled in for the night. youd spent many late nights together, and basically knew each others routines like your own.
throughout the years, everyone around you was shocked that the two of you had never caught feelings for each other. being friends with someone for that long, everyone thought it was bound to happen. while the two of you profusely denied it every time it was brought up, you would be lying if you said that soonyoung hadnt given you butterflies from time to time. there were periods of time where you thought that maybe your love for soonyoung had escalated to something a little bit more than friends. you tried your best to ignore the flips your stomach would do when you would see him making out with a girl at a party, or talking to someone just a bit too close. not wanting to do anything to jeopardize your closeness, you always just pushed the thought out of your head before you thought on it for too long. never did you want to seem possessive or jealous of him having other friends, youd look crazy. you knew soonyoung saw you as a best friend and that would never change for better or for worse, so you tried to see him as nothing more than that.
some months had passed since your acceptance, and summer was just beginning. you were about to get in your car when soonyoung unexpectedly pulled into your driveway. lightly leaning against your car, you gave him a confused look as he got out of the car holding a letter. “i just got accepted to music school!” your expression changed immediately into pure joy. “oh my god soonyoung thats awesome!” you gave him a big hug, the same as he did when you got accepted. you asked him questions about the university, and then he broke the news. “its.. across the country from my school? does this mean we wont see each other?” you tried to hide the disappointed tone in your voice. this was his big day, you should be happy and excited for him, as he was for you. but the thought of being separated from soonyoung broke your heart.
after finding out you wouldnt see each other for months at a time, you both vowed to make as many memories as you could before you both moved away. over time, it was like you had become a part of each other. leaving felt like losing a limb. but you both tried to stay happy all summer and not even think about what would happen at the end. in between all of the big activities you planned, you both still made sure to have your laidback movie nights at least once a week, like a tradition. while spending all this time together all summer, you found those feelings you had buried so far down had started to resurface. soonyoung truly was perfect in every way. he was funny, and creative, and the sweetest person youd ever met. and he admired you just as much as you admired him. he always made sure you were comfortable no matter what. his main goal was making you happy, little did he know that just being in his presence did the trick pretty well. the pair of you were the textbook definition of twin flames.
it felt like summer slipped away in seconds, and before you knew it, you were helping each other pack your lives into boxes. with every item put into a box, you were just one step closer to the inevitable. although you both tried to ignore the elephant in the room, it was difficult to pretend like you were both ready. you had never been apart from each other for more than a few weeks, so this would be a big step. every now and then you would have to slip out of the room to dry your eyes. you tried to stay strong but obviously it was difficult. in the last week before moving, you debated back and forth with yourself about whether or not you should confess how you feel. you know that this would be the best and last time to do it in person for a while, but you’re hesitant. you beat yourself up for hours and hours trying to make a decision, but ultimately you just decide to judge it in the moment. if you feel the time is right, then youll take the plunge.
the day before you leave, soonyoung randomly calls you and says hes on his way. you were used to his random plans, but this felt different. you assumed he was just trying to get his proper goodbyes out of the way now, since tomorrow would probably be a mess of emotions. you shove on some sneakers as you hear the horn from soonyoungs car sound outside. as you walk out the front door, you make eye contact with him through the window and give a weak smile. the air is quiet when you get into his car. the music volume is almost silent, just enough to hear sound but not make out words. youre both quiet as soonyoung drives, coming to a stop on a hill overlooking the entirety of your small town. its as if youre both waiting for the other to say something. youre afraid if you try to say something the tears will begin to flow. after some time, soonyoung speaks up just loud enough to hear him. “i dont know what im gonna do without you.” you feel your eyes welling up as you nod to yourself, quietly muttering a “me either.”
you both sit in a comfortable, melancholy silence until soonyoung clears his throat. “theres um.. something i need to tell you. and i have been thinking this over again and again and i just.. i cant keep it in any longer.” you furrow your eyebrows as you look over at him for the first time since he parked the car. he takes a deep breath as he looks down at his lap and continues. “ive had.. feelings.. for you for years. ive never known how to bring it up and i didnt want to weird you out and im sorry if this-” “soonyoung.” you interlace your fingers with his as he finally makes eye contact with you, his eyes glossy. “ive been in love with you since the eighth grade. i was always too scared to ruin your friendship.” he smiles, both with relief and shock. “are you serious? youre not fucking with me?” you laugh quietly as you shake your head. “im dead serious, ive been so stressed over the last week trying to figure out if i tell you, or how to tell you.” his smile gets wider as he squeezes your hand. he looks into your eyes again, this time his eyes travel down to your lips. he looks back up, as if asking for permission. you nod, and he leans in. he keeps one hand connected with yours, but the other comes to rest on your jaw as he kisses you softly. when you lean away, you both look at each other in amazement. you rest your head on his shoulder, and he lays his head atop of yours. your hands remain intertwined until you go home. when he pulls into your driveway, he leans across the car and gives you a kiss on the cheek. youre both bright red as you part your ways.
when you get to your bedroom, you secretly have a little celebration dance, which gets cut short by the trill of your phone ringing. you pick it up off your bed. its soonyoung? “hey soon-” “i completely forgot to ask you the most important question ever and i couldnt ask you over text!” you laugh at the urgency in his voice. “and what would that question be?” he takes a few deep breaths in preparation before he asks. “y/n, will you be my partner?” you feel electricity course through your body as you smile the biggest smile you can. “of course i will soonyoung. how could i say no?” you cant believe it. after being friends for 15 years, you fall in love the day before you both move to opposite sides of the country. its unapologetically you.
the next day stings a lot more than you expected it to. soonyoungs car pulls up in front of your house, but it doesnt make you happy like it usually does. seeing the boxes piled up fills you with sadness. his mother gets out of the passenger side and says hello to you, and stands with your mother talking about the two of you. as soonyoung gets out of the car, you try to not fall apart. you both say nothing as he pulls you into a hug. he kisses your forehead and you hear confused noises from from both of your mothers. one of them says something about you two ‘finally getting the hint’ and you both laugh as soonyoung wipes your tears. you stand with your arms around each other for a while, before soonyoungs mother breaks the news that its time to go. soonyoung puts his hand on your chin and tilts your head up to look at him. “we’ll call everynight, and text whenever possible.” you nod and he leans down and gives you one last kiss. as he pulls away, you reach up and wipe away some of his tears as well. you both giggle at the emotions of it all as you both have tears streaming down your face. he walks towards his car, but you call out to him one last time.
“soonyoung, promise we’ll be together forever?”
“promise.”

a/n - wow i havent posted literally allll summer. ive been super busy, but now im back to school so i finally have time to write again :P this is just a short one that ive had in my drafts for a while, its not perfect my apologies. hope u enjoy mwah
Tumblr media
you rummaged through your cupboards as the oven beeped, signalling that it was done preheating. you couldve sworn that you had more sugar. the sugar you had in the bag was barely half of what the recipe called for. the rest of the ingredients were already mixed together in the bowl, so you didnt have time to run to the nearest convenience store. so, begrudgingly, you made your way to the neighbouring apartment. you hated having to introduce yourself this way, but you had never even seen them leave before, so theres a time for everything.
shoving your feet into the pair of shoes next to the door, you propped the door open as you headed to the door just down the hall. the aging numbers on the door read 308. you knocked lightly, suddenly wondering if the cookies you were making were even worth it. as you were contemplating leaving, the door in front of you creaked open and a man stood in the doorway, a small smile on his face. he looked to be around your age, not much older. he was wearing a black tshirt paired with a pair of black sweatpants. he was very attractive, but you had to get back to the matter at hand instead of just oogling at him like a weirdo.
“hi! im y/n, i live next door, i was wondering if i could borrow like, a cup of sugar? im baking cookies and i literally just used up the last of what i had.” you finished with a chuckle. he nodded, the same smile on his face from when you had arrived. “of course! just wait right here, ill go grab some for you.” he hurried off into his apartment as you stood in the hallway of the apartment building. you waited around for a moment before he returned to the doorway with a container of sugar in his hands. you took it and thanked him profusely, apologizing for the nature of your first meeting. he laughed and brushed it off. wow, his laugh was like music to your ears. just as you were about to go back to your apartment, he spoke up again. “oh, im chan by the way! if you ever need anything you can stop by, i dont mind.” you nodded and smiled. “thank you chan, the same goes for you as well.” he grinned wider as you gave a meek wave and he closed his door. you shut your apartment door behind you as you returned to making your batch of cookies.
the timer in the kitchen began to blare, signalling that your baking was done. the smell of fresh baked cookies filled the air in your apartment, a heavenly smell to say the least. you carefully took them out and placed them on top of the stove. after they had cooled down, you took a couple off of the tray you had baked them on and placed them in the container that chan gave you the sugar in. you replaced the cover and headed out to the door again. you stood in front of chans apartment and lightly knocked. the building was so quiet that you could hear the footsteps leading up to the door. as the door opened, chan stood in front of you yet again. you held out the container and his eyes lit up. “thank you so much!” he took the container and gasped when the bottom was still warm. “its no problem, if anything you helped me make them, its the least i could do.” you gave him a warm smile as he thanked you again. the happiness in his eyes made you want to bake forever. you said your goodbyes again as you returned to your apartment and put away the rest of the cookies that you had left for yourself. you smiled to yourself without noticing as you removed the cookies from the parchment they were baked on.
some time had passed, and it had been a while since youd seen chan. after the baking situation, you had actually spoken to him more when you would see him. whether that be in the lobby, or your shared hallway, you would often stop and have little conversations. as it turns out, you two actually have quite a lot in common. but in the past few weeks, you had only seen him in quick glances in the hallway. short smiles and small ‘hello’s were the extent of your interactions. but even in the last month, you hadnt seen him at all. a part of you was concerned, but you knew that he could just be busy, or your schedules could just not have lined up like they did before. the thought even came up that he couldve moved. but you try to not think about it. this particular day, you had suddenly gotten a craving for muffins. knowing already that you had all of the ingredients, you decided to get straight into it. you pulled up a recipe and began mixing your ingredients in a bowl. as you read down through the recipe, you reached up into your cupboards to get the bag of sugar. as you grab the bag, you realize that it is way lighter than you expect. you dump the sugar into a measuring cup, and it doesnt even reach the halfway point for what the recipe requires. you sigh and put down the measuring cup. maybe it was a sign.
the hallway is quiet as you close the door behind you. you make your way to the familiar apartment door, realizing how weird you must look asking for sugar again. but, you push those thoughts to the back of your head as the door swings open. this time, youre not face to face with chan. the man in the doorway is taller, but with similar kind eyes. youve seen him come and go, but never seen him this close. hes handsome, but in a different way than chan was. he smiles as you snap out of your daze. “hi! nice to meet you, im y/n, i live next door, could i borrow a little bit of sugar please? i always seen to run out as soon as im making something.” you both chuckle and he nods. “nice to meet you as well, y/n! of course, come on in ill go grab you some.” he steps aside so you can come into the apartment. you look around as you wait. the apartment is tidy, and has a warm feel to it. its definitely lived in, and if you were to guess you would say there are multiple people besides the man at the door. you hear chatter in the kitchen, but you cant make out voices.
after a few minutes, he comes back to you with a small bag of sugar in hand. he gives you another smile as he puts the bag in your hands. “is that enough?” you nod profusely. “oh goodness yes, thank you so much!” he leans against the table in the living area as you give him an appreciative look. “oh! im junhui by the way, but you can call me jun.” you chat with jun for a little bit longer before you have to take off and finish your muffins. as you hurry out the door, you could swear you caught a glimpse of someone else inside. but, you shut the door and rush back to finish your muffins.
after your timer rings, you put your muffins onto cooling racks as you look for a container big enough for some muffins. as the muffins cool, you quickly write up a little note for chan, in the off chance he might answer that door again. you jot down a little message, and include your phone number at the bottom of the note. you fold it over, writing ‘chan :)’ on the outside. you put 6 muffins into the container just to be safe, and tuck the note in your pocket as you shuffle out your door again.
there you stand again, outside door 308. you start to wonder if the note was stupid, he probably didnt even think anything of your interactions anyways. part of you wants to leave the muffins at the door and walk back to your apartment. but, you knock anyways. it seems quicker this time, as the door creaks open and jun is standing in the doorway. you try to not be disappointed, but you did hope that chan would be on the other side of the door. you tell jun about the muffins and he looks incredibly grateful, and he laughs, gesturing at the two extra muffins on top. you tilt your head in confusion as he clarifies. “oh! theres four of us, so we’ll probably have to cut these last two in half to avoid some fights.” you both chuckle as a voice from inside the apartment calls out, asking who’s at the door. “it’s our neighbour, y/n, i got muffins!” theres some quiet shuffling in the apartment as someone appears at juns side.
chans eyes lit up as soon as he saw you. but youre sure that yours did too. jun looks between the two of you and giggles as he steps away with the container, leaving the two of you alone at the door. “how are you, i havent see you all month!” you say as chan pulls you in for a hug. he explains how his job can get super busy really quick, and how the hours he works are super flexible and can be different all the time. the two of you stand and chat with smiles plastered on your faces, until someone inside calls out to chan, and he has to go back inside. before turning away, you quickly slip the note into his palm and give each other another smile. as the door closes, you stay in front of the door for a moment, trying to collect yourself.
sitting in your apartment later that evening, your phone buzzes.
Maybe: Chan : hey y/n, this is chan :)
y/n : hi chan :))
chan <3 : i was thinking, maybe sometime we could bake something together? maybe we can call it a date.. i can bring the sugar hehe
y/n : hahaha, you know what? i think id love that :)
from that day on, you coincidentally never had sugar on hand again.

you stood in your kitchen, phone on the counter as you stirred a pot of noodles while you watched vegetables fry in a pan on the stove. you hadn’t been used to cooking for one since you started living with jun, but with him being away in china, youve learned to adapt. that being said, the leftovers in the fridge were starting to take up more room than expected. with light music playing in the background, your apartment was peaceful. as you put the cover on the pot you had been stirring, your phone started ringing. “incoming call from jun<3”.
“hey love! how was your day?” you said as you answered his call and put the phone on speaker. “hi darling,” you smiled. juns voice was enough to make a day better. “mine was okay, lots of work but im free now. how was yours?” you sighed. “very long, i miss you.” jun frowned at the fact that he wasnt able to spend time with you on days like these while hes away.
any other time, you would have taken the time off and gone to china with him, but your work was busier than usual at the time and your boss needed you to work. you felt horrible, but jun was understanding as always. both of you had busy jobs, and had learned to be patient with each other along the way. since jun wasn’t due home for another month and a half, daily phone calls were the next best things. you would stay up as late as you had to just to hear his voice on the other side of the line.
“im sorry, i wish i could be there with you.” jun felt horrible. he knew you had other friends you could visit if you were lonely, or even his own members, but he always felt that he should be the one person there for you on the days when life is harder. you constantly reassured him. “jun, its okay, really. dont apologize for being away working.” you forced a smile. jun was one of the most caring people you knew. from the moment you met him, he immediately lit up every room he entered and filled your heart with a warmth that no one else could ever match. you adored him, and told him so at every chance you got.
jun spoke again after a moment of silence. “hopefully the time will go by fast. ill be home with you in no time.” he always tried to be optimistic. seeing the light in any situation. he was your happiness, and little did you know you were his, too.
“i hope so-” you began to speak, but you were cut off by the sound of your doorbell ringing. confused, you glanced towards the door. were you expecting anything? nobody had told you they were coming over. you asked jun to hold on for a second as you walked to the door, brows furrowed. you unlocked the deadbolt and opened the door, only to be met with the last person you had expected to show up on your doorstep.
“oh my god, jun??” you laughed in surprise as you practically jumped into his arms. jun smiled as he wrapped his arms around you as tight as he could, never wanting to let go. you took your face out of his shoulder in order to give him a kiss, and he couldnt stop smiling even as you kissed him. pulling away, you grinned as you looked into his eyes. “what are you doing back so early?” he was in a trance staring at you, and without saying anything he leaned in and pecked your lips once more. “we finished filming earlier than we expected, and the producers let me come home early.”
at this point you were smiling ear to ear, and you buried your face into his neck. after what felt like forever, jun loosened his grip on your waist as you backed up and he shut the door behind him. “come on, i made your favourite!” you grabbed juns hand and dragged him to the kitchen as he kicked his shoes behind him. he watched everything you did with infatuation in his eyes. he couldve easily told you he was coming home early, but seeing the joy in your face as you opened the door was way more worth it in his opinion.

as draining as it was, you always found each day filled with classes to be somewhat rewarding at the end of the day, even if said reward was knowing it was your last class before the weekend. as you unlocked the door to your apartment, all you could think of was spending the next two days ignoring the pile of homework and assignments you have to work on. you made a beeline straight for your sofa as you toss your bag onto your kitchen table. you relax for 30 seconds, eyes closed, soaking in the artificial light from the lamp plugged in next to you. that is, until the trill of your phone ringing snaps you out of your trance. you pick it up, not bothering to open your eyes.
“hey,” you said, sounding more tired than expected. the voice on the other side sounded slightly more awake than you did. “are you done with your last class? if so what are you doing right now?” all the questions were enough to wake you up from your daze.
“i just walked in the door like 2 minutes ago, and i am actually free!” it was rare that yours and vernon’s schedules matched up. between his promotions and practicing, and your university lectures and assignments, it was proven difficult to find time to spend with eachother. thats why whenever possible, you would both be open to doing the most mundane of things together. whether it be running errands or just watching some random netflix show and eating popcorn. you both found comfort in the relaxed nature of it all. it was very you.
“wanna go get coffee?” he said, already expecting a yes. and of course, he got the answer he expected. “of course i do, and im buying this time! you paid for mine last time, now its my turn.” your smile could be heard through your voice. “fine, but im ordering the cheapest thing on the menu!” you rolled your eyes. vernon was always adamant on people not spending money on him, but you always evaded that rule whenever you could.
you groaned sarcastically, making vernon chuckle. “alright, im on my way now, be ready or else im never taking you anywhere ever again.” you giggled as you stood up, throwing your jacket back over your shoulders. “you’d never last a week without me.” you said tauntingly. vernon couldnt help but smile. your friendship had always been like this, constant teasing and sarcasm. “shut up, get ready. he said, trying to suppress the smile growing on his face. “i will, see you soooon.” vernon mumbled a bye as he hung up the phone and you grabbed your phone and your wallet from your bag.
you slid into the passenger seat of vernons car and brushed the snow off of your jacket. “god, was anyone expecting this storm? its crazy out here.” vernon laughed at how shocked you were that it was snowing in the middle of january. “apparently its supposed to get worse, but i wont let that get in between us seeing each other for the first time in a week.” he smiled over at you as he put the car in drive and left the parking lot of your apartment complex. you looked over at him and the small smile he has on his face whenever you look at him. he always looks so content in your presence, as you feel the same in his. you watched him maneuver around the roads, mesmerized by his actions. he soon spoke, breaking you out of your daydream.
“oh, i have to stop by the practice room really quick, is that okay?” you nodded. “im just tagging along, i dont care where we end up.” you said with a smile. vernon pulled into the parking lot of the building and opened his door, stepping out into the snow. he watched as you got out of his car and screwed up your nose at the fluffy flakes falling all around you, slowly getting more and more heavy as the snow piled in the streets and lots around you.
you followed vernon into the elevator as he pressed the button leading up to the floor of seventeen’s practice rooms. you had been there a couple times, just for visits or bringing them snacks and drinks for motivation. the elevator ride was quiet. it was a comfortable silence, the low hum of the elevator music filling the air as you and vernon basked in each others company. the elevator beeped as the doors opened and you both walked down the hallway leading to their practice room. it was growing late, and the worsening weather outside caused the building to be somewhat of a ghost town. usually bustling with people working and hanging out, it was quiet and tranquil. you reached the end of the hallway as vernon used his keycard to unlock the door.
with a beep from the keycard scanner, vernon opened the door and you followed behind him as he walked into the large open room. he walked towards the cabinet where they put all of their personal items as they practice and pulled out a navy blue hoodie and a black beanie. he held them in his arms as he spun around to face you. “ready to go?” he said, walking towards the door. you hesitate before speaking up. “maybe we can stay here for a bit? wait for the storm to die down a little.” vernon quirked an eyebrow before shrugging. “sounds like a plan. come sit.” he walked to the corner of the room, where two black beanbags sat next to each other. as you both sat down, vernon gasped and jumped back up and half-ran to the other side of the room, where the entertainment system was. you laughed to yourself at his urgency. after a second, vernons playlist was playing quietly through the speakers around the room. he smiled as we walked back over to where you sat, fondly admiring his every move.
you and vernon had sat in the practice room talking for over an hour. you had both honestly lost track of time. he checked the time, 10:27pm. you both quickly realized that your usual cafe had closed half an hour ago. he sighed, apologizing to you for not being able to get coffee like he had planned. “vern, i dont care what we do, as long as we get to catch up.” he scrolled on his phone, eyebrows furrowed, not replying to what you had said. you could tell he was trying to figure something out. you leaned towards him, furrowing your own eyebrows as well. “whats wrong?” he looked up at you as he turned his phone to show you an article stating that all roads in your area had closed due to the force of the storm. your jaw dropped as you made eye contact with vernon, and you both started laughing at the irony of it all. you dont see each other for over a week, and suddenly you’ll be stuck together for the foreseeable future.
the article that you and vernon had read stated that it can be expected for roads to stay closed until the morning, so you both decided that it was in your best interest to settle in to stay in the practice room for the night. “wait, i think it’s right… here!” vernon opened and closed cabinets in the practice room until he found the one he was looking for. inside the cabinet, there was a white blanket neatly folded and a white pillow on the shelf above it. “excuse me for asking, but why do you guys have a blanket and pillow in your practice room?” you couldnt help but laugh. the thought of someone needing a nap mid practice was the most seventeen thing you could think of. “well one time hoshi got locked out of the dorms so from that day on he kept supplies here just in case it happened again.” of course it was hoshi.
you both retreated back to the beanbags after finding the blanket and setting it aside. neither of you were tired, so you stayed up talking in the hopes that the storm would subside and the roads would miraculously open back up again. you talked and talked until the clock hit 2am and you both couldnt finish a sentence without yawning. vernon walked over to where he had layed the blanket and pillow on the counter, and brought it over and put both in your lap. “why are you giving it to me? you need to sleep too.” you picked it up and tried to pass it to him but he lightly pushed your hands away. “ill be fine, i want you to be comfortable.” you frowned at vernon, insisting on him taking it from you. vernon gave in, taking the stack from you and settling in. as he unfolded the blanket, he opened his arms. you quirked an eyebrow, confused as to what he was doing. “listen, im not gonna be the only one sleeping with a blanket. come here.” you stood up and walked over, inserting yourself into the space he had made for you under the blanket. the two of you had been friends for a while, but you had never been this close before. you expected it to be awkward, but it was surprisingly natural to both of you. your head rested on the pillow as vernons eyes fluttered shut, his long eyelashes laying softly on his cheeks. you admired his features, before closing your own eyes in case he feels you staring at him. soon, you were lulled to sleep by vernons soft breaths against your forehead.
you woke up with one of vernons arms lazily draped across your hip, and your legs intertwined together as an attempt to create the illusion of the beanbag you slept on having more room than it does. judging by his slow breaths and steady heartbeat, he was still asleep. there were no windows in their performance room, so you had to crane your neck to locate the clock on the wall and find out how early or late you woke up. 9:03am. it was still early enough to let vernon sleep instead of disturbing his peace. you turned your head back to his sleeping figure. the light snores coming from him would annoy anyone else, but to you they were endearing. everything about vernon was this way to you. everything he did was perfect. you adored vernon, but had never seen him as anything other than a friend. as you lay here, limbs connected and the fading scent of his cologne lingering around you, you wonder if you had ever seen him as just a friend. what if you had been repressing the feelings you had? what if seeing him like this, so peaceful and vulnerable, had awakened something? what if-
your train of thought was brought to an end when an arm squeezed around your waist and a face was buried into your neck. you smiled a wide smile. “good morning sleepyhead.” you ran a hand through vernons messy hair as he groaned a “morning” into your skin. you sat like that for a minute, even closer to each other, until he leaned back and rubbed his eyes. “what time is it?” he said, his voice deep and laced with sleep. “its 9 oclock.” you couldnt help but smile at him. you rarely saw vernon early in the morning, only on times when you both made all day plans instead of impromptu ones. he yawned as he asked, “have you seen if the roads have opened yet?” you shook your head. “i couldnt reach my phone, its over on the shelf and you looked too comfy, i didnt want to disturb you.” the tips of his ears turned pink as he rolled over slightly and stretched to reach his phone. he rested his phone on your hip as he tried to find an update. you let your head fall to the pillow again, lightly closing your eyes as vernon scrolled through news sites.
“oh, it looks like theyre back open!” vernon said, slowly waking up, “you ready to go?” you didnt bother to open your eyes, just shook your head. “lets stay here a little longer. this beanbag is comfier than i thought.” you smiled as you heard his phone hit the table and his arm returned to its previous place around your hip. vernon pulled you closer, not saying another word.

please stay ; jeon wonwoo
Tumblr media
genre - fluff, hurt/comfort, friends to lovers
wordcount - 1.5k
disclaimers - lowercase is on purpose. fic under the cut ^^
a/n - this is my first, very simple but the wonwoo brainrot would not quit!
Tumblr media
“im sick of your shit y/n, i really am.”
it seemed like all of the time spent with your boyfriend ended with an argument. dont get it wrong, you love him, but hes great at finding issues in every little thing you do. at first it was things like not texting him when you wake up in the mornings, or getting coffee with a friend from one of your classes, but recently he had thrown a tantrum over every move you made. the current argument at hand being the fact that he showed up at your apartment unexpected and you had only made enough dinner for yourself.
“i don’t understand what you expect from me!” you raised your voice, growing annoyed at his constant outbursts. “will there ever be anything i can do that will satisfy you?” he had an icy glare as he stepped towards you, while you were trying to act unbothered even though he had at least 6 inches of height on you.
“well maybe if you just did things right once in a while, i wouldn’t have to put you in your place so often.” there was a bitterness to his tone, and not an ounce of love to be heard.
tears started to form at the corners of your eyes, but you wouldn’t dare let them escape. wouldn’t dare let him win.
“i’m sure my ex wouldn’t have let it get this far. maybe i made the wrong decision all along.”
he had a wry smile on his lips as he leaned against the wall, drinking in your shocked and hurt expression. he had always had this smug aura around him, but this was worse. this was cruelty. he was getting pleasure from your pain.
you tried to speak, but you weren’t able to form words. none that you wouldn’t regret anyways. “i… well if thats how you feel…” you looked down at your feet, hoping that if he doesn’t see the hurt painted on your face he won’t get the satisfaction he craves.
he laughed. “you know what? maybe i’ll call her. im sure you’d be just fine too, i’ve seen you with those singer fuckboys you think are your friends. you should call one of them, maybe you’ll be a better woman to them than you were to me!” he pulled out his phone and started typing something as he walked towards the door.
“wait, ‘were’? what do you mean ‘were’?” you knew what was coming, but your brain didnt quite process it in the moment.
he looked up from his phone, the same sick smile not leaving his lips the entire time. “god, you really are stupid, aren’t you?” he let out a laugh that felt like the twist of a knife. “we’re done, idiot! don’t bother calling me either, i already deleted your number.” he chuckled as he opened the door and disappeared without another word.
as your apartment door shut, everything hit you like a tidal wave. you crashed onto your sofa, sobbing into your hands and struggling to catch your breath. your entire world was in slow motion until a knock at your door brought you back to reality. you stood up, vision blurry from the tears, and walked over to the door. you opened it to be greeted with somehow the first, and last person you had wanted to find you in this state.
“oh my god y/n, what happened? are you okay?” wonwoo said, concern laced in his voice as he stepped towards you and put a hand on your arm to calm you. you tried to act like nothing was wrong, but everything was so fresh and wonwoos concern just made you unravel all over again.
you and wonwoo had been friends since you quite literally bumped into him whilst rushing around the city one day when you were running late to one of your classes. you had been speedwalking through the streets, rushing to get to your campus in time. you slept in, but you just had to stop at your usual coffee shop before class. being somewhat in your own world, you accidentally bumped shoulders with wonwoo and ended up spilling your fresh iced coffee all down the sleeve of his shirt. apologizing profusely, you quickly asked if you could send him money for the drycleaning, or just pay for a new shirt. he laughed the same laugh that would still sound like music to your ears months later. he assured you that it was fine, and even said that it was his fault. his one request was that you give him your number so that he could get you a replacement coffee sometime when you both were free. so you agreed. from then on, one coffee turned into two, which turned into three, which turned into movie nights and impromptu 2am drives when you can’t sleep. you never would’ve thought that your clumsiness would lead to meeting your best friend, but some would say it was fate.
you tried to tell wonwoo everything, but the only words that you could muster up between sobs were “he left me.” he stepped forward to give himself room to shut the door behind you two. wrapping an arm around your shoulders, he guided you towards the sofa. at this point he had entirely disregarded the reason he came to your apartment in the first place. you collapsed into wonwoos arms as you reached the sofa. he held you close as he whispered reassurances into your hair.
just being in wonwoo’s presence helped to calm you down, so within 10 minutes you had been able to collect yourself and you were able to tell wonwoo the whole story. he was visibly angry, but tried to hold it in so he could comfort you and not stress you out further. after telling wonwoo everything that happened, you realized that you weren’t quite sure why he showed up in the first place. but its not like you were going to complain.
“i should’ve asked before, but what did you come here for anyways?” you said, quirking an eyebrow at him. he simply shrugged. “i came here before practice to grab the phone charger i left here on saturday, but i’m happy i came when i did.” the fond smile wonwoo had on his face made you feel like the only person on earth.
“oh, you have practice?” you tried to mask the disappointment in your voice. you knew how important wonwoo’s job was, and you didn’t ever want to come in the way of that. but a part of you hoped he wouldn’t leave just yet.
“not anymore,” he said, looking down at his phone screen, “i just told the guys that something important came up. they’ll understand.” he smiled the same smile at you that he always did before. but this time it felt.. different? “unless you just want to be alone? i can leave if you want.”
you looked at your hands for a moment before looking back up and meeting his gaze. “...please stay.”
that was all he needed to hear. wonwoo shrugged off his jacket and put it on the back of the sofa. you watched his actions intently. for some reason, the actions you had watched countless times before had started to stand out more than usual. the way he nudges his glasses up his nose, the way he runs his hand through his hair, why were these things so prominent to you now? you pushed these thoughts to the back of your head as you watched wonwoo open netflix on your tv. he scrolled through the options until reaching your favourite movie, the one you had made him watch with you too many times to count.
“wait, i thought you said you were sick of this movie?” you tilted your head towards him. he looked over at you, the same fond look you’ve been basking in since he showed up at your door. “but it reminds me of you, how could i ever get sick of it?”
you playfully hit his arm and turned away to hide the rosy haze shading over your cheeks. he just smiled, knowing that he couldn’t see himself in any other position than he was right now.
he put his arm out, inviting you to his side of the sofa. you obliged, scooting over to insert yourself under his arm and wrap around his side. he rested his arm around your hip as he quietly spoke. “listen, even if i have seen this movie thousands of times, i’ll be damned if i don’t see you smile at least once today.”
and he succeeded. you couldn’t do anything but smile as you sat snuggled into your best friends side, forgetting the earlier parts of the evening ever happened. soulmates were real, and you two were living proof. he was your soulmate, whether platonic or not.
