‘I’m Your Baby Tonight’ was released on this day in 1990. Whitney wanted more creative control with this album, so she served as executive producer and recruited LA Reid and Babyface to help with a new direction. In addition to working with Michael Masser and Narada Michael Walden, she brought on Stevie Wonder for “We Didn’t Know” and longtime friend Luther Vandross for “Who Do You Love.”
Rolling Stone Magazine wrote the album “displayed a slick R&B edge and features “funk and dance-driven pop.” The album debuted at #22 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at #3. In all, it spent 22 weeks in the top ten. It also debuted at #10 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart. Preorder the album on vinyl, now with special liner notes by Babyface: https://WhitneyHouston.lnk.to/vinyl-releasesPF
