I also just got caught up after spending literally all of my spare time binging this wonderful epic you've penned! It's rare to find someone go so deep with a speculative(?) take on a property! Your investment in not just the sweeping character drama and the world in broad strokes but the minutiae of politics and interpersonal maneuvering is so refreshing! The way you chart out your main and sub-plots is captivating, too. Your patience as you plant seeds and let them slowly grow in the background is amazing! I know you've got a lot going on, but I can't wait to see how this last arc plays out.

Secondly, thank you so much for writing Don't Look Back, it's an incredible work and I absolutely Adore it. I just finished rereading so that I could appreciate the new chapters in the full context and I must scream 😭😭😭

One of the things I noticed in my reread is that Anakin has glimpsed Luke (mentioned as a reflection in a window for a brief moment, somewhere in the second book) and in either the second or third book Leia promises Shmi that she would introduce Shmi to Luke "soon". I can't wait to see how either of them react to finding out that Mace beat them to the punch.

Based off of several Trick or Treats prompts, I think we're all salivating for the sweet sweet catharsis of a Reveal, but also cannot wait for our friend Palplatine to meet a swift and vicious end. I eagerly look forward to the next chapter, and hope you're doing fantastic. Thanks again!

It's always fun to see comments from people who have been rereading the story and catching bits of foreshadowing, or the buildup to things that haven't yet. As long and arduous as writing his has been, every time I see someone catch something else, I'm just so grateful I took the time to really make this story work. People are having so many feelings, and as a writers that's really what I hope happens when people read my work. That they feel things, and that they get to enjoy doing it.

We got so many more feelings still coming guys. I'm so excited for this last arc.

Oh goodness I forgot to mention this in both my comments and that last ask but I really really love how you write the Mandalorians, especially Duchess Kryze. You capture her struggle with her ideals and her commitment to her people so well and really bring her to life! Honestly it makes me want to re-watch The Mandalorian to sort of stay in that space.

Hope you get more excuses, whether in story or AU prompts, to write more about them! I wonder where Baby Din Djarin is in this timeline...

I'm really glad that you like the Mandalorians (and that others have too) because I feel like Satine and Jango are my weakest characters/plot points. I've tried to at least do them justice when they get to appear, but this story sidelines their journeys so much. There's a lot going on just on Mandalore, and because the canon I'm drawing on for this story is so narrow, I just don't really ever deal with it. I have given exactly 0 thoughts to Din Djarin in this timeline. Aside from just now thinking, "You know, maybe it's a mercy to just let him completely dodge getting dragged into Main Character situations..."

People often say LOTR is a story about hope. (I'm reminded of it because someone said it in the notes of my Faramir post.) And that's true, but it's not the whole picture: LOTR is in large part a story about having to go on in the absence of hope.

Frodo has lost hope, as well as the ability to access any positive emotion, by Return. He is already losing it in Towers: he keeps going through duty and determination and of course Sam's constant help.

For most of the story, Sam is fueled by hope, which is why it's such a huge moment when he finally lets go of the hope of surviving and returning home, and focuses on making it to the Mountain. To speed their way and lighten the load, he throws his beloved pots and pans into a pit, accepting that he will never cook, or eat, again.

When Eowyn kills the Witch King, she's beyond hope and seeking for a glorious death in battle. It's possible that in addition to her love and loyalty for Théoden, she's strengthened by her hopelessness, the fear of the Nazgúl cannot touch someone who's already past despair.

Faramir is his father's son, he doesn't have any more hope of Gondor's victory or survival than Denethor does, he says as much to Frodo. What hope have we? It is long since we had any hope. ... We are a failing people, a springless autumn. He knows he's fighting a losing war and it's killing him. When he rejects the ring, he doesn't do it in the hope that his people can survive without it, he has good reason to believe they cannot. He acts correctly in the absence of hope.

Of course LOTR has a (mostly) happy ending, all the unlikely hopes come true, the characters who have lost hope gain what they didn't even hope for, and everyone is rewarded for their bravery and goodness, so on some level the message is that hope was justified. But the book never chastises characters who lost hope, it was completely reasonable of them to do so. Despair pushed Théoden and Denethor into inaction, pushed Saruman into collaboration, but the characters who despaired and held up under the weight of despair are Tolkien's real heroes.

(In an early draft of Return, Frodo and Sam receive honorary titles in Noldorin: Endurance beyond Hope and Hope Unquenchable, respectively. Then he cut it, probably because it was stating the themes of the entire book way too obviously, because this is what Tolkien cared about, really: enduring beyond hope. Without hope.)

decided to put these in a bit of a chronological order as i can’t help but form a story behind the scenes. it’s a storyteller’s habit. and yeah i do have an idea i would genuinely like to explore with gail simone as a crossover comic. 

i don’t want to be the writer for this. but at the same time i always found diving into these things and exploring the character chemistry was the best way to get an artistic feeling for it.

this is also how i usually develop my own stories.

anyhow, while many think this is me drawing some shipping, in fact this a proof of concept for an adventure story  featuring lara and diana. Gail simone at some point asked if they would kiss and i gave it some genuine thought. i am a character first kind of a writer, myself, so i contemplated this. then i decided, yes, probably.

after all, romantic subplots have been the bread and butter of adventure writing since its inception and i always liked that aspect of adventure stories.

 i hope this puts some things in context from my end XD

and while there will probably be a few more of these, there will be no nsfw pics. after all, camera pans away from indiana jones in those moments as well  XD

Dinah Lance has been the one and only therapist for the Justice League since practically the day she joined, and that takes a toll on a person. Especially with the differences between psychology of alien species and people with the meta gene and regular humans as well. Plus, there are therapists that specialize in teen therapy for a reason. Dinah doesn't have any children or sidekicks of her own, and especially lately with the influx of teen heroes she isn't sure if she can provide the time and attention they need.

So she picks up a trainee. Jazz Fenton, older sister to the teen hero known as Phantom, and currently in college to become a teen therapist.

It's ends up being one of the best decisions Dinah has made.
