Belle groaned internally at the familiar voice–not that just about everyone in the town was familiar, but Gavin made her skin crawl. “Actually, Gavin, reading makes you understand a lot more and be able to communicate, plus the stories are amazing… adventures, romance, mystery. Anyway, what would you suggest I do instead?”
“I mean, I’ve never been told my communication sucks.” Gavin’s smirk said it all as he spoke. “And I don’t read all that often.” He looked her over and shrugged. “Literally anything. There’s so much to do out there. You know, you could accompany me somewhere. Might be nice.”

Hook barely looked up from the clock he was tinkering with at first; he stayed quiet as she placed the cash on the counter, twisting the screwdriver in his hand until he was satisfied, before finally setting his work down. “And the late fee? For not paying last month’s in full?” His eyes flickered up to her face.
Wren’s throat tightened, ready to kick herself for not including it, but every penny had been so tight this month. Josh had needed new shoes, the sole literally had come apart, and Micah had needed money for a school event. Not to mention this had been the big grocery run, filling up on as many staples in the house as they could. There was literally not a penny left over. “I... I didn’t include it no, I’m sorry.” She looked down at the counter, afraid to look him in the eye. “I’ll pick up an extra shift and get it to you by the end of the week?” She hoped.

Chris couldn’t explain it, but something about Anna coming into the shop so often made his day. Not that he knew her very well, but seeing her face coming into the parlor made his usual rough tough exterior soften just a bit. He’d been getting some merchandise into the freezers when he heard the bell ring as someone entered, and his heart skipped a beat when he saw her familiar face, quickly washing his hands and grabbing some gloves so he could get her order. “–Waffle cone?”
Arianna turned to look at Chris, a semi-shocked expression. “Would it even be ice cream if it didn’t come on a waffle cone?” She spoke before continuing on. “I mean, I guess it would be ice cream still, but the whole ice cream experience is best done on a waffle cone. I mean, and I do always get a waffle cone. I do it for the experience. And the chocolate.” She shook her head a little, bashfully looking down having gone on such a tangent.

“–On the rocks,” Meg replied dryly, sneering slightly towards the bartender. “I’m trying to forget the last half an hour actually happened, considering the guy lasted about ten seconds, after days of him making it seem like he was some sort of Adonis. So yeah, I guess you can say I’m drowning in my sorrows. Mostly it’s just good old fashioned regret.”
“Yikes.” He said, grimacing as he grabbed the bottle of alcohol, as well as a tumbler. Pouring the drink and topping off just a little extra for good measure. “I mean, if you’re gonna be cocky, you have to be able to at least back it up. You know, I’m the whole package, but I’ve got follow through.” He said with a knowing smirk.

“July has so many new books coming out, that I am completely beside myself!” Belle began talking aloud, not paying attention to who she was talking to. “I have added so many new books to my list. It really saddens me that I will never get to read every book in the world.”
“Keep your nose in so many books, you’re gonna miss the world around you.” Gavin said, a smug smile on his face as he looked her over. His lips curling up a little more. “I think you’re wasting your time, you should be out making the most of your time.”

Wren opened the door to the clock shop, checking the time on the many that littered the walls, making sure she was still not going to be late. She’d made sure her brother’s had gotten off to school alright, with money for lunch, and had counted the money for her payment she was about to make. Approach the counter, she tried her best to hide her intimidation as she pulled her bag to the side, undoing the zipper to the compartment where she’d put the cash. “I’ve got it all this time, plus what I owed from the last time.” She avoided eye contact as she set the bills down on the counter top.

The smell of warm, freshly made waffle cons filled Anna’s head as she stepped into the familiar ice cream shop, coming in for her weekly, on occasion daily, ice cream fix. She smiled as she saw Christopher behind the counter, and was glad that it was pretty much empty so she wouldn’t have to wait too long. “I’ll have two scoops of Chocolate Chocolate Brownie Chunk, please?” Her smile as sweet as her words.

“Alright, what’ll it be this time?” Gavin set down the napkin on the bar top and placed his other hand on it as well as he greeted the patron who had just sat down. His lips trailed up into the knowing smirk that showed just how certain he typically was. “Going with your usual? Trying to drown the sorrows of another failed hook up?”

“I’m supposed to be working on a draft sketch of the prince for this new book I’m illustrating for; don’t ask what it’s about –it’s top secret. But yeah, he’s supposed to be handsome and dashing, but I just can’t seem to get his nose right. I didn’t realize that would be so important,” Phoebe sighed, placing down her pencil in favor for her sugary sweet iced coffee. “Talk about frustrating.”
“Let me see.” Arianna mused, setting down her own iced mocha, licking the sweetness of her lips as she craned her head a little bit to see what her cousin had been working on as she sat across from her. “Maybe you should find someone to model the nose after? Might make things a bit easier?” She suggested, curious about the story she was doing it for now. “No chance I can get you share some details?”
