Two of my favorite fics updated in one day I don't know if I will ever feel this much joy ever again

Usually, in a story where a villain get set up along with their ideology, part of the main character defeating them is also defeating the villain’s ideology. Depending on the story, defeating the ideology can be more important than physically defeating the villain themselves.

But this doesn’t happen in Epic.

Poseidon is defeated, yes. But only because Odysseus fully embraces Poseidon’s ruthlessness mentality.

So while the physical victory might be satisfying (“Next to my wife” was a mic drop moment if there ever was one) , Thematically/ideologically, it is a hollow victory. In fact, I would say that it is not a victory, but a defeat.

Are you truly defeating the monster if in the process you become the monster that made you?

Cause the monster’s still there. It’s just you now.

Sneak Peak for the Spicy Chapter of my Poseidon Fic

I ended up with a fever and have been down for the count the past few days so progress on chapter 3 of Hook, Line, & Sinker has been a little slow, but wanted to share a preview that I was pretty happy with hehe:

There, on the cave’s ledge, stood the most gorgeous man you had ever seen. He wore a beautiful set of short-sleeved robes that flowed down his tan, muscular body like a waterfall, complete with the cool tones of the ocean blue. His arms were crossed and one of them was a bright, translucent teal that glistened in the low light as if it were wet. In front of his arms hung two braids and the rest of his long, silky hair fell behind him like the dark of the night giving way to the faintest hint of dawn. Upon his head, he wore a golden laurel that matched the eye-shaped pendant around his neck and contrasted the silver of his gorget and arm bands. He was observing you intently and those deep blue eyes—just as striking as the rest of his sharp, sculpted features—sent fear and arousal coursing through every nerve in your body. Despite your blatant gawking, you still had sense enough to recognize the danger of your current situation. You had no idea how long he had been watching you for, but as soon as you had registered you were not alone, you screamed and propelled yourself backward, away from the ledge. In your panic, you kicked up a large wave of water toward the stranger and, coincidentally, your clothes. Instead of shielding himself, the stranger bent down with such swiftness that the only evidence you had of him moving at all were the discarded garments now in his left hand. “Careful,” the man smirked. “You���ll get your clothes wet, little siren.” You froze in place, nearly sinking as your legs stopped kicking underneath you.  It was him. The gorgeous stranger was Lord Poseidon in the flesh. Oh gods, you were going to faint.

Might make a few more tweaks because I want to make sure I properly convey how stunning Poseidon is, but can't wait to get this one written! Lord of the Sea gets a new set of pearls.

There's this absolutely delightful fic by treatster on AO3 called "Obsession", and let me tell you... there is a backstory to those pearls.
