75 years ago on this day in 1944 one major Holocaust event for Roma occurred.

The “Gypsy family camp” at Auschwitz-Birkenau was “liquidated” under orders from Heinrich Himmler. All 2,897 remaining Romani and Sinti women, men and children in the camp were taken to the gas chambers and murdered.

We remember. We will never forget. We are still fighting for our rights.

Today we remember the Roma and Sinti genocide. But we are not defined by it.
