Black Widow Review
I'm back, with a Black Widow Review
Welcome back, everybody! Black Widow has released, unofficially relaunching the never-ending onslaught of superhero films that dominate our theaters. That means it’s time for me to get back in the saddle and tell you what I thought of Marvel’s new flick. This founding Avenger has deserved a chance to shine in a solo outing for quite some. But is Black Widow the solo vehicle Marvel’s original…

The Snyder Cut AKA Zack Snyder’s Justice League Review
My blog returns from hiatus on the 2 year anniversary of its creation, bringing the gift of my suffering! I watched it so you don’t have to: The Snyder Cut AKA Zack Snyder’s Justice League! (now on HBO Max)
First up, before we even get into the Snyder Cut, let me say this; Welcome back to WhachaWatchin! We’ve returned just in time for the site’s 2nd Anniversary no less! It’s certainly been a while, since this pandemic has been rather unkind to me maintaining a weekly movie blog. But we’re back! Not BACK back, but we’re back.  What that means is that you shouldn’t expect a strict weekly release…

Spider-Man: Far From Home Review
Black Widow Countdown Part 23 The MCU recap ends today with Spider-Man: Far From Home. Stay tuned this Friday for the release of Black Widow.
Originally published July 2, 2019
Spider-Man: Far From Home is an eminently enjoyable film. I had fun watching it. However, I have enough substantive complaints that I’m not sure if I’m ready to call it a good Spider-Man film.
Disclaimer: This is a fairly rough draft of my thoughts on the film. I’m having a VERY short turn around on this one, but I wanted to get something out there ASAP.…

Countdown to Black Widow Part 22: Avengers: Endgame Endgame is like fast food, in that it can be quite satisfying in the moment, but the longer you sit with it, the worse you feel. Originally published April 26, 2019 Full disclosure: I’m writing this Avengers: Endgame review on the Thursday night/Friday morning the film released.

Countdown to Black Widow Part 21 Though Natasha was the first superheroine in the MCU, Carol Danvers beat her to the first solo film. Let’s all hope the Widow can match the quality of this film. Originally published April 25, 2019 CAPTAIN MARVEL SPOILERS INCOMING This is still a pretty new movie, so you’re getting a backup spoiler warning just in case.

Countdown to Black Widow Part 20 More Wasp, please and thank you. Originally published April 24, 2019 Ant-Man and The Wasp is a perfectly fine movie, but it suffers from serious whiplash when being viewed directly after…

Countdown to Black Widow Part 19 This is the big one, with the ending that blew everyone’s mind. But is it actually good? Originally published April 23, 2019 Avengers: Infinity War is the most comic book-style movie I have ever seen.

Countdown to Black Widow Part 18 While not without flaw, this is inarguably one of the absolute best exemplars of the genre, and a truly fantastic film all around. Originally published April 22, 2019 I’m going to be honest with you, if you’ll promise not to judge me.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Re-View
Countdown to Black Widow Part 16 This was the best Spider-Man movie for about 18 months.
Originally published April 20, 2019
Going in, I’d like to admit something. Spider-Man: Homecomingis easily the recent MCU film I remembered most poorly. I remembered enjoying it, but I could not have told you much about it. Now that I’ve watched it again, I get why. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. However, while this may be the best executed live action Spider-Man film, it’s having to fight…

Countdown to Black Widow Part 15: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Is it messy? Yeah. But it’s also beautiful and heartfelt in a lot of ways. Originally published April 19, 2019 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the even weirder successor to the weirdest movie in the MCU.

Countdown to Black Widow Part 12: Ant-Man It’s like Iron Man, but milder. Originally published April 16, 2019 Ant-Man is kind of just Iron Man again. But like, funnier this time?

Countdown to Black Widow Part 11: Avengers: Age of Ultron This film has a lot of good ideas, but it fails to build towards a cohesive narrative. Originally published April 15, 2019 Avengers: Age of Ultron is not as bad as a lot of the critics said, but that is not the same thing as being a good movie.

Countdown to Black Widow Part 10 Guardians of the Galaxy still offers one of the tightest standalone films in the MCU. It’s real real good. Originally published April 14, 2019 In the aftermath of The Avengers making approximately all the dollars, there was a discussion as to whether Marvel had gotten too big to fail.

Countdown to Black Widow Part 9 Captain America: Winter Soldier was a home run when it came out, and it’s only gotten better and more relevant with age. Originally published April 13, 2019 2014 Me after seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, like an idiot: “Man, this sure is a fun movie.
