it's just that i do feel as though a "sometimes you have to get your hands dirty, and that's just the price of maintaining peace & security" narrative centered on a black ops organization in an area where there is no current military presence is, at best, inherently conservative, and at worst leans outright fascist. like i don't think Section 31 sounds promising bc i feel like this is just not a very compelling narrative kernel to me. because it is weirdly conservative. but like everyone knows trek politics truly never recovered from 9/11. u dont need me to tell u this. once again adding my redundant voice to the wind for no reason lol

i'm far from the first person to be saying this i am sure, but it's kind of crazy that Section 31 was introduced as part of a character arc wherein Julian Bashir learns that being a spy is not cool or sexy and it is in fact profound evil. & now 30 years later Trek as a franchise is so low on marketable ideas that they're making a Sexy Spy show about Section 31. like. lol.
