October 2, 2019 @173.4 lbs So I’m finally under 175 for good. I swear my body likes to lose a couple of pounds and then stay there at that weight for an entire month. I know I didn’t reach one of the goals yet for an award, but I am going shopping today over my lunch break to get some clothes. I lost almost 10 pounds in the last few months and a lot of inches. I deserve an award for that plus I can’t be looking too sloppy in my professions. So heading to the mall to pick up some new pants and maybe a matching suit jacket if I can find any. Shopping will help distract me from the 20-36 hour fast I’m on today.

Why can’t I keep plans
Or maybe it’s more like I am dreaming bigger than I care to follow. I haven’t done the fasting routine yet. But I have been doing intermittent fasting. At least it’s working.

Goals and rewards
I go into war to lose every pound and I think a reward system should be implemented as an incentive and as a reminder to keep looking my best since my clothes are getting baggy.
Goal: 170lbs Reward: 1 new pair of jeans
Goal: 167lbs Reward: 2 new lingerie sets
Goal: 165lbs Reward: 2 new work outfits
Goal: 160lbs Reward: spa celebration with mani, pedi, and massage. Note: I weighed 160 in college and this would be a 30+ pound loss from my highest recorded weight and a 20+ pound loss since starting a WFPB diet and fasting.
Now that I think about it, hitting each goal means spending money. I will have to remember to make the next goal and reward list less expensive.

August 31, 2019 @ 173.6 pounds I just finished another 36 hour fast. Go me! This weekend I will eat as normal, 2-3 meals a day, no eating before 7am and after 7pm.

Today I finished my first 36 hour fast with only water. I plan on doing this 1-3 times per week. It wasn’t too hard and I was surprised my hunger went away completely at night. When I woke up this morning I wasn’t hungry at all either. I broke the fast with a bowl of oatmeal topped with a chopped peach, maple syrup, and tempeh.

Meal timing and fasting for more efficient weight loss?
So I’m considering incorporating some timing restrictions for my meals for better fat loss. I eat mostly carbs and, because I am diabetic, I watch my blood glucose rise and fall, which is a good normal thing because that means my body is producing insulin and reacting to it properly. However, insulin is a hormone that promotes fat storage and not fat burning. Plus, my body runs on carbs for fuel and if I keep eating carbs I believe my body uses that as energy before stored energy. So therefore me eating carbs throughout the day isn’t really giving my body a chance to efficiently switch to fat burning. I did OMAD before and had great success because I believe IF helps with efficient fat burning. However I don’t think I can do that now and get all the calories I need in one sitting eating WFPB because I’d get full too fast. Instead I’m thinking about having a larger eating window between 7am and 7pm and also incorporating one 36-48 hour fast a week. I’m obviously losing inches so a switch to a WFPB diet is working. However I think I will be more efficient and it will be easier on the body to incorporate a 13 hour eating window and some extended fasts.

It’s like a damn yo-yo
Weight goes up, weight comes down. Weight goes back up. Weight comes back down. Daily fluctuations are real. I stepped on the scale today and it said 179. Ain’t no way I gained 5 pounds of fat since Monday. It’s all water. When It whooshes away, I can’t wait to see the new low! I don’t really have mini goals, but being 160, what I weighed in college, would be cool. That’s a big jump for a whoosh, but it’s not impossible.

August 12, 2019 @ 175.6 lbs So I’m on new diabetes medication now. This means that any effect on my blood sugars while I’m on a WFPB diet won’t be as easily attributed to diet alone. With diet alone I dropped my A1c from 9.3 to 8 after a one month diet change. My doctor said that’s great but not enough. So here I am on another pill. So now the new goal is to get off my meds with the doctor approval.

This shit makes me so happy i’m not even sorry. I don’t think everyone realizes what a huge deal these huge chains incorporating vegan meals in makes, like honestly. Not every vegan lives the same life. Not every vegan is vegan for health. Everyone has different reasons, that’s fine. I’ve read some backlash from certain demographic of vegans about this and it’s kinda gross to me honestly, and feeds into some of the more cringy vegan stereotypes. Not every vegan is prepping quinoa salad for their friends after a long day at the farmers market. Some are working a 10 hr long night shift in a rural area, maybe a lone BK is the only food on the way home and they’d love nothing more than to be able to stop by and get an actual meal, so they can go home and crash with a full belly. Yes - I totally agree with there hopefully being more steps to have meat separation during meal prep in the near future. I fully get that. I also fully support the decision to not support these fast food companies because yes, I get why one hundred percent. But i’m also not so shoved up my own ass that I realize that a lot of the country survives on it. Guess what - now they can have a vegan option. Unless you’re eating at a completely vegan establishment, your food is likely mixing with non vegan foods, sorry but, that’s just a fact and that’s how it is right now. You do the best you can. This *is* the way to get people to embrace a plant based diet across all demographics, can iron out the details and nit pick later. I have hope that one day there will be more vegan fast food but unless you’re fortunate to live in say California or Oregon that’s just now how it is right now or for every vegan. This is how it starts and it’s pretty huge, maybe not for newbie vegans but I went vegetarian back in 2010 and i’m blown away at how much has changed since. Baby steps. Veganism is the future. Keep goin’

July 29, 2019 @ 176.6 I’m trying to cut the amount of bread I consume by only eating bread on weekends. When I do eat bread I pick brands that are oil free and that use sprouted grains. Silver Hills Bakery makes The Big 16 loaf is very good. This morning I toasted a slice dry on the stovetop. Added the last of the kite hill cream cheese that expired last week, topped with kimchi and nutritional yeast. I ran out of oats so I’m still counting Monday morning as part of the weekend. I’ll get back to oatmeal for breakfast tomorrow.

July 16, 2019 I notice that I’m starting to crave things like tempeh and beet sandwiches and smoky marinated carrots on avocado toast. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

July 10, 2019 @ 179.6
I went to my first state park for hiking last weekend. It was great except for all the wet grass. I need to buy proper hiking boots because I ruined my sneakers and soaks. I did about 6 miles around the park.
I convinced my sister to join me on a visit to another park this Saturday. Can’t wait.

Mostly on track
June 2, 2019 @ 179.0lbs I’ve been keeping a daily food diary along with my blood glucose levels at various points throughout the day. I’m not sure a week is enough time to figure out which foods spike my blood sugar higher and for longer durations, but I believe oatmeal and stone fruit have no ill effect when eaten for breakfast. I’ve been mostly following a WFPB diet. I have slipped up and eaten food that is off limits. No excuse. It was there,I was hungry, I ate it and recorded in my diary. In about one week, I lost 3 pounds. No exercise yet. 3 meals a day. Mostly homemade foods.

Is this real???
June 24, 2019 My blood glucose reading before lunch was 107 today. 107! It is never below 127, which I only got once after fasting all night. My blood glucose is usually in the 150-180 range before lunch. I didn’t expect 107 to be the reading before lunch today, especially after I had a high carb breakfast of oatmeal with peach slices and maple syrup. Only been at this for a few days and it dropped to 107! Might just be a fluke or a broken meter. Either way, I’m motivated to keep up WFPB diet.

WFPB Day 1
June 21, 2019 So my diet is going to be low in fat with no added oils. I need to grocery shop. But it is the morning and I have to go to work. Planning and having compliant foods around is key to set myself up for success, so I guess I’ll have get to planning and set up after work today. My whole food plant based diet (WFPB) will be vegan and low in fat and protein. I’m going to pretty much eat anything that fits this criteria. I’m going to exercise (walk, hike, and swim for sure because I already do). I will incorporate other things too when in the mood. Now I’m going to go bake some potatoes for breakfast and pack a lunch for work.

It’s all one circle
Maybe for a reason. When I started tumblr I was starting a vegan plant based diet and wanted to become healthier. Over the six years since I started tumblr, I’ve tried starch solution, vegan, vegetarian, keto, vegan keto, OMAD, vegetarian OMAD, and the whatever I see and want diet.
Today I was reading through my old posts and the ones about how I felt on these diets and I realized, I felt best on a vegan diet that was low in greasy fats. I remember feeling light and energetic. I remember how easy it was and very simple it can be.
I’m staring on a vegan diet again, that is low in fat. I’m also going to track my progress again because it was very helpful. Hopefully daily updates.
