Day 3
Listen, don't go into the woods alone, despite a voice calling for help: it's not human. wretched creature, its goals unknown to us. We have something that it cannot.

Creep 2/4/23
A cool mist escapes her lips. Eyes trained forward, counting every misshapen rock on the gravel floor. You can tell she doesn't know what to say.
But you've been waiting forever to talk to her like this, even if she may not share the sentiment. Putting an ear to the ground yields results, after all.
She squirms in her seat. "Who told... I mean. How did you know? You know."
You let a smirk creep onto your face. Did you? Was it already there?
How exhilarating.
You cup a free hand gingerly to your mouth. The other ends up behind her somehow. You lean forward, and if she flinches at this distance, you don't notice. Ah, it's not cold anymore. You whisper into her ear.
Wouldn't want anybody to eavesdrop, after all.

Sea
I step into the sea. Toe deep in the water, feet buried in sand and gravel. A breeze billows overhead, tinged with seasalt. I am over the horizon: where sea meets sky, split by clouds shrouding the heavens above. A storm is brewing, with attendant rain. I plunge into the water. The sandy expanse parts before me, and I am swallowed by the sea. A familiar foreboding pool of darkness: Under its serene surface belies a fearsome force of nature, marked by death. The last vestiges of air escape my lungs. I'm untouched by rain.

Falling
We danced until the sun went down, and the floor gave way beneath our feet. I don't stumble. The world passes me in freefall, split seconds of happier lives and people more fulfilled. I don't realize my arms are outstretched. My body's remembering the sensations of brushing against your skin, craving it in pursuit of wonton pleasure. A moment ephemeral becomes my lifeline. I hold it close to my heart and lament my descent. The ground underneath does not come back. I walk on clouds for the rest of my life.
