five recipes for an exciting life (in my opinion)
spending enough time creating things with your hands (baking, drawing, scrapbooking, doodling, crocheting, journaling and so on)
keeping track of things like pretty skies, milestones, happy memories, appointments you're looking forward to
listening to music that genuinely makes you feel happy and energetic
making a habit of reaching out to people in a way that's comfortable to you (i send my dad songs he might like, my friend sends me monthly life updates)
being kind to all your five senses → like investing in a scented candle or essential oil dispenser or body mist, having a soft blanket or socks (or a soft animal to pet), listening to birdsong or the rain, looking at the sky more often, and having your favorite foods enough times

there’s something so frustrating about having been in love with someone. i hate that i cared so much about someone who never cared about me like that. and i hate that the love turns into hate, i hate that i’m sitting here thinking about him when i have so many things i’d rather put my mind towards.
manipulation infects your mind like a gross slimy disease you can’t rid yourself off, it’s an addiction that you never get over. i’ll always assume that those who say they love me are lying through their teeth. it’s so hard for me to trust anything now, i’ll read into every tiny detail until i’ve convinced myself you hate me.
i’m sorry

There's a cinematic equivalent of "this meeting could have been an email" where you get about two hours into a feature-length blockbuster and it occurs to you that this would have lost nothing meaningful if it had been a ten-minute short film on YouTube.

sometimes my parents will say that thing that’s like “would your child self be proud of who you are now” and i wholeheartedly believe that if i finally got around to making a time machine and went and saw little 12 year old me that she’d have an absolute fit because i am exactly who i wanted to be when i was a child what the fuck are you talking about.
#i’m literally so cool and i was such a loser#i’m gonna be like yeah i have an apartment#what ab it#and yeah i’m applying to art school#i’m cool or whatever#and i still listen to good music#and all of my friends are cool#and it’s all people i thought we’re super cool back then#it’s honestly a horrible argument because as a child i never wanted to be what my parents wanted me to be#when has anyone ever wanted to be what their parents want them to be#11 year old me would love me today#she would think i’m so cool#because i am#also glad i could give her confidence#i forget that she’s me sometimes#i’m like i need to make my child self happy but like#that’s me bruh#i’m me#whatever you get what i mean

“I like cancelled plans. And empty bookstores. I like rainy days. And thunderstorms. And quiet coffee shops. I like messy beds and over-worn pajamas. Most of all, I like the small joys that a simple life brings.”
