Okay, I love me some angst that turns into understanding. The bakery scene HURT my soul when talking to M-romancers, so I hurt for you 💗. But they made up! that made everything much better because we know Mason loves Lili deep down but he doesn’t know it yet ;)
Mask (Mason x F!Detective)
Book: The Wayhaven Chronicles (Book 3 Demo- Spoilers Ahead)
Pairing: Special Agent Mason x F!Detective (Lillian Thomson)
Summary: Following the events at the bakery, Mason tries to understand a shift in Lillian's behavior.
Word Count: ~1250
Rating/Warnings: M- Language, Illusions to smut
Song Inspiration: The Mask by Matt Maeson
A/N: I am using prompt #6-apology from @wayhavenmonthly 's Bravo in Bloom list.
A/N #2: There have been many different stories that cover the aftermath of the bakery scene, this is just my version of it. A huge shout-out to @alyssalauren whose brilliant mind actually came up with this idea and let me run with it!
Characters belong to Mishka Jenkins (Seraphinite Games). I’m just borrowing them.

Okay, but that moment with them sitting on the couch together and you can feel how worried Adam is, even though he won’t say it? That shit hit me in the feelies. Also, I’m going to steal the word “minimized” any time I talk about someone I like.
Bravo in Bloom - Day 1 prompt from @wayhavenmonthly : Prank
Summary: It was the beginning of April tomorrow, a month filled with shenanigans and clear tape and shitty prank calls. Wayhaven was full of pranksters of all ages, and you'd best be prepared to face them.
Pairing: Adam/F!Detective
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1.3k
-
Zuri couldn't sleep. She was grinning at the ceiling, her head resting on the armrest of a couch, long braids tumbling off of the edge. The lounge was dark, save for a single lamp washing the room in a soft, golden glow, shadows dancing along the walls. She figured tossing and turning in her bed would wake the others, so she decided that perhaps a change in location would help her catch some z's.
It didn't. Instead she was fumbling on the couch, her heart fluttering with excitement.
It was the beginning of April tomorrow, a month filled with shenanigans and clear tape and shitty prank calls. Wayhaven was full of pranksters of all ages, and you'd best be prepared to face them. Something about outmaneuvering them boosted her ego, and she genuinely enjoyed seeing people loosen up and partake in the hijinks. This time was different though. This time Unit Bravo was here, and they had no idea what they were in for.
Well, one of them did.
Farah just so happened to be into April Fools and managed to rope her into one of her schemes. As weary as she was to sneak into rooms and alter products, the excitement (and her encouragement; the girl was a good bad influence) had her squashing all doubts away.
Her skin prickled. There were some eyes watching her. She lifted her head and saw the shadow of a familiar, imposing figure in the doorway. She tilted her head and smiled, a soft, sing-song 'hi' escaping her lips.
"You are supposed to be asleep, detective."
She hummed and sat up, her side sinking into the cushion. "Your lectures aren't as effective from way over there."
She patted the space in front of her, smiling softly, hoping he would take the bait and sit with her. He didn't do it often (he didn't sit often, and she had to hide a snort when she realised that; he is the embodiment of 'always be prepared') but the fact that he did was a sign that he was getting more comfortable. That he was able to lower his defenses in her presence and just be. She couldn't help but bask in it, look for another opportunity at every turn.
Adam moved by an inch before stopping, as if debating himself on whether he should do it or not, possibly amplifying what that would mean to a worrying degree. He seemed to do that often when it came to her. She filed the thought away and patiently waited for him to come to a decision. He exhaled and made his way towards her.
She bit back a grin but was unwilling to smother her heart beat. It was too wild and free, too willing and too welcoming to whatever treatment it would face, whatever hurt or bliss he could give her.
Zuri never really hid how she felt about him anyway. Minimized? Sure. But never hid.
The couch sunk under his weight, his back easing against the cushion behind him, and her heart, God, her heart was eager today. She brought her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, glancing away to calm herself. She wouldn't hide how she felt but she didn't need to harass his eardrums.
"Is something the matter?"
"Pardon?"
She glanced back at him, her voice catching slightly at the intensity of his gaze, concern wrapped in an icy green, pale skin outlined by gold, blonde hair tousled just so. She should stop staring.
"It's three in the morning," he continued, his eyebrows furrowing, "you are only up at this time when something, someone, is bothering you."
Oh.
Her eyes widened and darted to the clock hanging on the wall, and it was indeed three am. "I didn't realise it was so late."
This must have looked like a sign of distress. It wasn't the first time she had tossed and turned and moved, sat in a dark room with a substitute nightlight and waited for the anxiety to leave. But this wasn't anxiety, it was excitement. And now she wasn't sure if it was for the next day, or this moment.
He knew her time of torment and he was worried. About her.
"I'm okay, no nightmares tonight," she said softly, her voice just above a whisper, warmth spilling into her cheeks. "But thank you. It means a lot, really."
Rather than the usual response (she could practically hear it; 'your wellbeing is important, it will ensure we work efficiently as a team'), he nodded, lips curling into a smile for mere moments before disappearing along with the shadow of his dimples. She smiled, shifting in her seat to face him properly. "I should repay the favour."
"That isn't necessary-"
Her hand landed on his shoulder, her eyes darting across the room before she leaned forward and whispered, "do you know what day it is tomorrow?"
He swallowed and raised a brow, his shoulder tense underneath her palm before relaxing.
She pulled away and blinked, ignoring the tingle in her skin, trying to muffle it against her calf. "I thought you would, living with someone like Farah."
The wrinkle between his brows deepened before his eyes widened in realisation. "The first of April."
"The first of April," she repeated with a nod. "Wayhaven will be a little unhinged this month, try not to lose your sanity in the midst of it."
He groaned and shook his head, spurring a laugh from Zuri.
"I doubt it'll be too crazy, I'm just telling you to be prepared."
"I am always prepared," he said, rising from his seat. "But thank you, detective."
"Don't thank me just yet."
---
Zuri sat on her desk, legs crossed, hands clasped together as she watched the chaos unfold. From behind the glass in her office, Farah screeched and sprinted past, closely followed by a cursing, ginger Morgan. Nate stood at the reception desk, grimacing and desperately trying to mediate despite his fiery red hair. Tina was keeled over next to him, her skin tinted green, clutching her stomach and shaking her head.
Poor Douglas dragged himself out of the bathroom, his clothes clinging to his body , blonde hair frizzy against his forehead. The hand dryer could only do so much, and the boy had been doused in water. The landline rang for the tenth time today, and he glared at it while flopping into his seat, freezing at the loud sound of gas, startling both Nate and Tina.
He jumped from his seat and frowned, holding the whoopee cushion between his index and thumb.
Zuri giggled and shook her head, pinching the skin on either side of her nose before wincing. She stared at her fingers, each one covered in glitter, much like the rest of her body. "Shit," she muttered, another giggle spilling from her lips. "I deserved that."
She turned to her right, gazing at the man beside her. Adam looked on with an unamused frown, arms crossed and muscles tensed. Her eyes traveled up his neck, up his flexed jaw and cheekbones before landing on his hair.
"You look good with pink hair. As bright as it is."
He growled in response, shoulders almost rising to his ears. She laughed and nudged him gently, the glitter on her shoulder landing on his arm. "I did try to warn you."
"This is ridiculous."
"Chin up, big guy. You aren't the only who was duped."
"I was not duped."
"Right," she said, a long, dragged out response. She turned to the window again as an impressed smirk made its way onto her face. "I think Farah is the only one who hasn't been pranked."
There was a loud thud, a grunt and a snort coming from none other than Morgan that debunked her statement in seconds.

They love each other. Oh god, I am softer than anyone will ever know. Soft. Soft. Soft. Soft.
+ love the poem, really heartfelt from Val’s end
▪︎Aphrodite▪︎
Pairing: Nate Sewell x Valerie Rodriguez (F! Detective)
Day 21 of @wayhavenmonthly - Poetry.
Fanfiction: The Wayhaven Chronicles by Mishka Jenkins @seraphinitegames
Word Count: 2.0k
Warnings: Teensy Angst, and Fluff.
Ratings: PG 13
Author’s Note: This fic is written in the assumption that Wayhaven is in the UK. (Idky, I just like to think it is.) And all the characters are owned by Mishka Jenkins, except my OC detectives.
Summary: Val finally says it.
—————–
It had been a week, since Val received the E-mail from the Agency, about a mission in London. After being with Unit Bravo for a year and a half by then, the Agency had finally decided to promote Val, therefore giving her a personal mission for training purposes.
That part of the e-mail wasn’t a problem… the problem had been the end of it, saying that she had to leave Wayhaven for two months to complete the course and get promoted.

ADAM AND LOAF BONDING WAS THE ONLY THING I NEEDED TODAY. PLEASE AND THANK YOU-
Day 23 - Puppy
--
“I have nothing for you,” Adam frowned.
Loaf did not seem to understand or care what Adam was saying, tiny arm still raising to catch the fabric of his pants.
“Don’t give me attitude,” Adam warned. “Ivy will be home soon—“
Loaf whined in response, stomping his front paw in objection.
“I told you—.”
“Are you talking to the puppy?” Felix bolted into the room, eyes wide with excitement. "Shouldn't you give him a treat too?"
Adam growled, turning away as if doing so would hide the fact he was caught in the act. “I know how dogs work.”
“Unit Alpha doesn’t count,” Felix grinned, crossing over to scratch behind Loaf’s ears. “Will you be a good boy and take him for a walk?”
“I beg your—“
“I was talking to the dog.” Felix’s grin only widened as he shoved a leash into Adam’s hand, having already clipped it to Loaf’s collar. “C’mon! Ivy would no doubt be thankful. Now she doesn’t have to do it after work.”
Adam swallowed hard, glancing down at Loaf who sat down to wait patiently. “Fine, I will walk the dog.”
“Loaf,” Felix corrected, bounding away with a pleased smile on his face.
__
Despite his short legs, Loaf did an admirable job maintaining the pace Adam had set.
He wondered why the dog didn’t seem to mind being picked up and run into town. When Adam set him down he simply barked once in affirmation and began walking down the familiar streets of Wayhaven.
Some of the residents gave Adam a funny look but said nothing. Not that he cared, by now his face was familiar and the only peculiarity was likely that Ivy was not with him. How he wished she were though.
Adam's thoughts snapped back to the present when the worst came to fruition. Adam rounded the corner coming face to face with Wayhaven's worst and only reporter.
"What have we here?" Bobby's mouth twisted into a smirk. "Wayhaven's head detective has you dog sitting now?"
"I rather enjoy his company," Adam rolled his eyes. "Far better behaved than some."
"Oh, this dog has fangs too," Bobby smirked.
"You have no idea." The words came out as a growl and the reporter seemed wise enough to back away.
Adam remarkably hadn't noticed Loaf stalking towards Bobby, making the most of the slack leash and lunching at Bobby's leg.
Adam smirked as Bobby cried in pain, snatching his leg back as Loaf retreated behind Adam.
"He bit me!"
"Please," Adam scoffed, trying to hide a smirk. "He's only a puppy."
Through gritted teeth, Bobby hissed, "Wonder what the people of Wayhaven will think to see the detective's dog has so poorly behaved."
"If you write about that then you're as pathetic as you look," Adam chuckled darkly.
Bobby slinked away to lick his wounds leaving Adam and Loaf alone on the sidewalk. Luckily there were no witnesses and Adam knew the reporter's words were nothing but empty threats.
Adam hesitated as he reached down, hand hovering over Loaf’s head. Before he could Loaf closed the distance, nuzzling into Adam’s hand before offering a few affectionate licks to his palm.
“You’re a good dog,” Adam nodded.

how i look after reading this
Day 14 - Clouds
“What about that one?” Ivy lazily pointed at the sky, lumpy shape of the cloud behind her small hand.
“Flower!” Alys giggled, knees pulled to her chest as if to inspect the grass stains on her tights.
“That one?”
“It looks like a man!” Alys laughed but the smile dropped from Ivy’s face in an instant.
She didn’t look back at the clouds as Alys continued to point out shapes and as their nanny ushered them back into the car to head home.
—-
“What’s wrong with shorty?”
Mason dragged a chair closer to Alys as she sat filling out a seemingly never ending pike of paper work. Although it was prudent for the Agency not to be hacked, Alys’ wrist disagreed with their paper method.
“Today is always hard for her,” she answered being sure to keep her voice down as Ivy swore at the next thing in her way; a folded over rug. “She’ll be okay.”
“What’s so special?” Mason seemed only half interested as he clicked his lighter on and off.
Alys paused, chewing on her words as Ivy finally left the room. Mason raised a brow, seemingly more interested at her hesitation. “Well?”
“It’s the 23rd—“ Alys mumbled it as if he’d know what it meant. “Dad— Rook died today."
"Oh."
"It's okay though," she added quickly. "Tomorrow she'll be good as new."
Mason grunted, disapproval laced in the singular note as he continued to click his lighter.
"What about you?"
"What about me?"
"Does it bother you?"
A long pause settled like cloud cover over the room, the only disturbance being Felix passing through the room quickly followed by Nate.
Mason leaned closer, clearly trying not to let the worry show on his face. "Alys?"
"I guess it is kinda hard," her fingers toyed with her pen, all hopes of finishing her work lost. "Especially now."
She half expected Mason to make some sarcastic comment or point out that she barely knew the man . Still, he didn't. Mason instead hummed by way of apology.
With an uncharacteristic squeeze to her arm Mason stood, presumably heading out to enjoy the early autumn air. Alys played with her hands a little longer before abandoning her pile of papers. As she head back to her room her phone buzzed lazily in her pocket. Opening it brought her to a text from Ivy: A little sticker of a bee holding a fork and knife and note that simply read "lunch?"

FINALLY DONE (or at least I'm choosing to post it because I cannot spend more time on this drawing without losing all my motivation in it)
Here's a drawing of my detective with M!Unit Bravo from The Wayhaven Chronicles by @seraphinitegames !!
This is not exactly how I imagined wanted it to turn out but I'm not too disappointed by it ! Spent a lot of time working on that drawing (it was supposed to be a drawing following the christmas sweater prompt from @wayhavenmonthly so yeah a lot of time) and I definitely crushed my comfort zone ! So yep, I'm pretty proud of myself even though I think I can do much better in the future !
Don't hesitate to reblog, it would make my day ^^ (no repost though, please do NOT repost)
(Close-ups under the cut !)

THE WAY I LOVE THEM- THE WAY YOU MAKE ME LOVE THEM
Day 10 - History
TW: mention of self-harm & general medical stuff since I know that can bother some folx
It was the first time he had come to visit. Rebecca had been watching from outside the room, answering messages with one foot pointed down the hall. No doubt she'd go see Alys.
"I'll watch her." The words left Adam before he realized it.
Agent Blackwood seemed to jump at the opportunity, nodding in thanks and quickly disappearing down the hall. Adam bit at his lip, an unformed opinion working itself out in the back of his mind as he stepped into the room.
The sterile scent of linoleum flooring and cleaning solution was little compared to the bile rising in Adam's throat when he tuned towards the hospital bed. Her short frame was tucked tightly between tight sheets, arms carefully laid on either side of her body. He wasn't sure how he had missed them, all those little lines of history traced across Ivy's- the detective's arms. They were the thinnest of lines, almost impossibly parallel and easily forgotten by a tug of a shirt or the quick smear of makeup. But now, they were all too visible as Ivy lay unconscious in bed.
The bite to her neck was plastered over with fresh dressings, bare arms riddled with cuts and deep purple bruises, butterfly bandages doing what they could with the gash to her forehead. Adam cataloged them one by one, noting each as a failure to protect her. Each a reminder how he almost lost her.
She risked herself for Alys, for him, and he almost lost her.
That night's events plagued his thoughts never letting him forget the coolness of the rain as he cradled Ivy in his arms, the stickiness of her blood, the touch of her hand against his face.
Nothing but the faint sound of her breathing was audible over the heart monitor, the steady /beep beep beep/ providing what little comfort it could to Adam. Part of him wanted to be rid of it, to count each beat of her heart himself without the need of medical equipment or the steady stream of doctors and nurses that passed through each hour.
He rubbed the back of his neck, desperate to ease the tension that had built there over the last week. Adam had gained a ritual over the week; glance at the heart monitor, glance at the feeding tube, glance at her closed eyes willing them to open. Look her over as if not doing so would doom her. He had to keep watch, had to keep her safe.
He didn't think, fingers reaching out and brushing her own with a feather-light touch.
"Please wake up."
