imagine percy and a daughter of pluto being destined to fall in love - so in love that there's a prophecy about it. something that describes a love so strong that it saves the world. percy doesn't know a thing about it, but lupa told the girl about it in private when she was a kid, and that it clearly describes her in it.
so when percy gets dropped into camp jupiter, and she feels a connection with him so strong that it's almost unbearable, she is desperate not to fall in love with him.
she wants to save the world with her leadership and talent, not by falling in love with some guy. she's an esteemed praetor, the most skilled halfblood at camp jupiter, and she wants to be known for more than just falling in love. she doesn't even get how falling in love with him is supposed to change the world.
"lupa," she breaths, in a voice softer than a whisper, as she stares at percy from a distance. he is sparring someone, and winning. "tell me it's not him."
"it's your destiny," echoes in her head.
"him," she reiterates with a scoff.
"i'm just as surprised as you. but you'll do it. even if you don't want to, you will."
"i'll take that as a challenge."
so she literally doesn't want to fall in love with him because she's too prideful. and she's too much of a girlboss slay strong independent fighter shadow-sorcerer queen to back down to a prophecy.
meanwhile percy is absolutely besotted with her from the moment he steps into camp jupiter. of course he can't remember annabeth, only in snippets, but he loses those thoughts the moment he sees her.
he makes it goddamn clear how attracted he is to her. he constantly flirts with her, pesters her, challenges her to fights. she's got some pretty name like valeria and he calls her "val", which she hates. she's really hot, but in that hauntingly beautiful tim burton sort of way: big dark eyes, sharp cheeks, pouted lips and olive skin.
he doesn't understand why she hates him, considering the entire camp has already fallen under his charm. but that doesn't stop him from trying.
"let me take you out."
"you lost me on 'out.'"
"i didn't take you for an introvert. you're always shouting at people and fighting them so i thought you'd want to do something active."
"i'm not an introvert. i just don't want to go anywhere outside with you."
"how about inside?"
"absolutely not. you are not coming in my cohort."
"how about mine?"
"no."
"promise i'll make it worth your time."
"how oxymoronic. if you're involved, it can never be worth my time."
"did you just call me a moron?"
she is unable to contain her snort. "you're an idiot."
his sea-green eyes soften. "gods, val, you're so beautiful when you smile."
though she doesn't want to, she finds herself staring at him when he's not looking. she starts waiting impatiently for him to pester her, she starts looking forward to their brief chats. she feels butterflies when they graze arms. she likes the way he smirks at her at the end of a fight when she's beaten him to the floor. she likes how close their faces are. she lets him manipulate her into mini dates, like walks by the water, swimming with cute whales, cooking blue food for the campers.
she starts to fall for him and it scares her so much that she distances herself. percy finds out about the prophecy and finally understands it all.
one day they are fighting a massive monster that has somehow infiltrated the camp and he confesses her feelings to her, knowing a fighting scenario is the only place where she'd be close enough for long enough to actually listen to him.
"i know what you think of me," he starts.
"if you did you wouldn't be speaking to me right now."
"no. i know what you actually think."
"focus on the monster, seabrain."
"i know you like me."
"what?"
"well, kinda. i mean i think you hate me too. but i also don't think it's that different from liking me."
"then you have a warped perspective on relationships."
"admit it."
"percy."
"admit that you like me."
"there is a monster in front of us and you want to talk about this?"
"the whole camp wants us to talk about this. do you see anyone else fighting? no! they're too busy waiting for you to give me an answer!"
"everyone get off your asses and fight. right now."
nobody moves.
"don't be like that. just because everyone can see how good we'd be, except for you -- "
"don't."
"fuck it. i'm in love with you. i've been in love with you since the day i met you -- "
"no."
" -- uh, yes. i wanna fucking be with you. i mean, i wanna do a lot of things to you, but to be with you? i wouldn't need anything else. just you, for gods' sake."
"percy."
"gods, i wanna kiss you. i wanna kiss that look off your face. but i'm not gonna do anything until you tell me the truth."
"i don't know what to say."
"you love me."
"i don't love anything."
"i know, but you love me."
"i don't wanna prove the prophecy right."
"stop being stubborn."
"i can't just be known as the girl who fell in love with you, perce. i want more for myself."
"you'd never be known as that. you'd be known as the girl that i fell for. the shadow-slicing praetor that percy jackson begged to have."
"i guess that doesn't sound so bad."
"yeah?"
"maybe."
they kiss passionately.
from then on, they're the it-couple on campus. they're always sneaking off and kissing, and percy is constantly all over her, kissing her neck, whisking her away.
everything is perfect until annabeth comes to claim him. they end up in camp half-blood with annabeth not knowing about her and percy. she watches as annabeth whisks percy away. percy's head is confused with his head and his heart.
she tells herself that she shouldn't have let herself fall in love with him. instead of letting percy break up with her first, she breaks up with him, saying that this is now real life. she will be known for more than just love, and he can have the love of his life annabeth back.
but percy doesn't feel that way anymore about annabeth. how could he? annabeth overhears the conversation and breaks up with him, understanding that he has feelings for someone else. he apologises over and over again because this is his best friend, but she accepts that they are only each other's first loves. and not the last.
percy wants her back.
the two camps are united in their decision to get them back together. although they don't have a lot in common, both camps adore either percy or the pluto girl -- they are their leaders -- and they want them together.
so percy makes another scene.
"i challenge you to a duel," he announces loudly to her, as campers gather around.
"jackson, i'm busy."
"i know. re-training people from my camp because you romans think you know better. fair enough. but i guess you'll have to re-train me, considering i'm actually greek."
"stop trying to wind me up."
"so it's working?"
"isn't it a rule at camp half-blood that children of the big three can't duel?"
"that's never stopped us before."
"it can this time."
"are you scared of losing?"
"get over here, jackson."
"don't worry. i'll go easy on you, deathbreath."
"that doesn't mean i will."
she swipes at him with her dagger, and creates a small cut down his arm.
"fuck."
"not so cocky now. stop missing, jackson, you haven't even grazed me."
"i don't want to hurt you."
"come on. hurt me."
"no."
"it's a fight, not a dance. hurt me."
"no."
"fine, don't! gods, i'm not going to fight you if you're not going to fight back. just leave me alone. i don't wanna be near you. can't you just let me be?"
"i've hurt you enough. i know i have."
"i don't know what you're talking about."
"but i promise you. i will never hurt you ever again. i will never make you feel anything but happy. i will do everything in my fucking power to make sure of it."
she laughs shortly. "it seems like everyone in our two camps will do anything to make sure of it."
there.
there, she realises it.
she realises that them falling in love was the gods' sure way of getting the two camps to respect each other. swapping jason and percy around was only the start - to make sure the camps knew of each other. but her part? it was to make sure that both camps would love each other, would stick together no matter what, the same way her and percy would through anything.
their friends refer to her as the queen of both camps, as it is her that has truly brought them together. although it's not what she had planned to be infamous for, she accepts it, knowing that she has gained more than she sought out:
percy.
"you have completely confused my perception of reality," he continues, as if she hasn't already made her mind up. "i dream about you. all the time. every night when i go to bed i dream about you. but most of the time it's in the day, when i see you, when i smell you, when i know you're near. i knew long before that prophecy that you were meant for me."
"me too, perce. all of it. me too."
so they get together and everyone is super happy. even nico does a slow clap bcus he likes how it's the most dramatic thing he's seen. the gods are like crying up there watching them get back together like they're some kind of soap opera that they manufactured. but it doesn't matter to them bcus they're living their best life.

The Mockingbird
Tumblr media
Lavellan x Blackwall
PG-13 - morning after contraception, betrayal, (medical) shock, terror, animal abuse, child death, violence, out of body experience, eye trauma, seizure, catatonic state, loss of vision
Chasing after the trail of her runaway love, Vella is forced to see his crimes firsthand...
Masterlist, Prev Chapter
-
Vella trotted down to the gardens. Head swimming with anxiety.
She didn't have time for this, but it wasn't optional.
"Ah, there you are." Morrigan appraised her.
"I'm sorry, we can't have a full chat yet. I need a favor."
"Oh?"
"Could you make me a witherstalk potion? Quickly?"
"I could..." She tilted her head at Vella. "But, you're bedding the Grey Warden...?"
Vella stared at her. Lost to the question.
"Did he... insinuate that you needed it?"
"Yes, why? Wait, what am I missing?"
"A Warden of his years shouldn't be able to sire children. I can still make that potion, if it gives you peace of mind."
"Yes, please." Vella sighed. "Maybe it's silly, but..."
"Oh, I understand. Does one no good to take chances." Morrigan beckoned her forward.
-
"This Mornay, any of us know him? Or of him?" Bull offered.
"Nah, but Beardy clearly does. Hope he's alright."
"Sera, you get softer by the day." Dorian praised. "But I have heard of Rainier. Mean figure he's alleged to cut, that one."
"Wait, so have I." Vella recalled, nearly pausing the fast clip of her stride. The chatter of Val Royeaux echoed in front of them. "A note, what feels like forever ago, in the Exalted Plains. He was a captain, if I recall correctly?"
"Orlesian army, yes. Let's hope he's not involved."
They moved into the crowd at the gallows. Vella searched but saw no sign of him in those gathered.
Anxiety hot in her belly. Unable to stop thinking of his note.
There is little I can say that will ease this pain. Just know that while it hurt to leave, it would've hurt more if I stayed. I will always love you, dove. I am deeply sorry.
As the bailiff read off the crimes and punishment, Vella stared at the man with a noose laced around his throat. The fight completely gone from him. Accepting his fate with a mournful stare. Not even giving last words, lost to the certainty of death.
Vella sucked in a breath, preparing to watch a man die.
"Stop!"
Blackwall stormed on the gallows, commanding in his thundering voice. Proclaiming the man's innocence, challenging the conviction.
"Oh, what have you gotten yourself into, big man?" Bull sighed.
Vella stared up at him. Fear tight in her gut.
"Then find me the man who gave the order." The bailiff stepped forward, staring him down.
Blackwall's silence fell like freezing rain as he turned to the crowd.
"No..." Vella breathed as her stomach dropped through the earth. "Blackwall!"
His eyes found hers. Shock, fear, then cold conviction. All warmth lost.
"No, I am not Blackwall. I never was Blackwall."
Her ears rang with fast blood.
And still he confessed. That he had ordered the massacre. That he had been hiding behind a dead man's likeness. That he had been living a lie.
"I gave the order. The crime is mine. I am Thom Rainier."
Her blood ran ice.
His eyes stayed steady on her, even as the executioner and bailiff drew forward. Only breaking from her stare as he stalked away towards the prison.
Vella nearly fell to knees.
The world slid away beneath her.
A landslide ripped it all from under her feet.
"Vella...?" Dorian's eyes took up her shaky vision.
"I don't..." She breathed. Raising her hand to stare at the tremoring limb. The cold of shock left her mind sluggish. "I..."
"Bull?"
"Here, boss. Lean on me."
His large hand took up behind her shoulder, sliding her close. Vella turned her face into him, trembling uncontrolled. Letting his arms envelop her for a warm moment. Pulling away a little less delirious.
"I need to see him." She shuddered.
"Let's go, then." Sera nodded. Her voice thick behind the knot in her throat. "You better give whatever-his-name-is a piece of your mind. Shit ass."
-
Vella descended down the stairs. Her footstep silent, wearing the boots he made her.
How?
Passing cages of iron. Reality bending around her. The question circling her like a hungry hound.
How?
After all this time. He was one of them.
How?
The home of him had flooded. A place she felt such warmth she now drowned in cold waters.
When she saw him slouched in a cell, she froze. He stayed doubled over on his forearms. Refusing her.
They stood on a razor edged silence.
"I don't understand." Her heart rabbited against her chest. "I can't..."
He kept his eyes to the ground.
She came to kneel at the bars, searching his face. Searching for him.
There must be something.
"Please, get up." He growled.
Her eyes stayed on him. Seeking a change. Anything. Anything to prove that he was a different man. Desperate to separate the man she knew from the one sat before her.
"It can't be true. I would've seen it. I would've..."
Shock filled her limbs again.
Memory flooded her. All of his evasion. All of the vague responses.
It was right there. He was her blindspot.
How could she be blind to him?
"It is." His eyes finally met hers. Glaring ice into her. Standing and charging towards the bars. Shouting with the full of his chest. "This is what I am! You aren't supposed to be here! Leave!"
She backpedaled from the bars. Falling back onto her palm. An angry man bearing down on her again.
An old fear woven inside of her shock.
No, not shock.
A hand made of lightning grasped the base of her skull. Forcing her eyes wide open. Risen high onto knees.
A song of Mockingbird. A dog strung up by the throat. A mother's arm shielding. The slam of an axe into wood. The scream of a dog. The scream of a child. Her own scream, far away. Far under her.
Her voice begging. A father begging. Begging for them to stop. For it to stop. His hand reaches for a blade. Her hand. Someone shouts for her. For them to run. Seeing her hand underneath her. Don't they understand? The dog won't stop kicking. The child begs to not see.
Her hand fights her as it lifts the blade. The father's blade is kicked away. And still the child screams. Horses panicked. Trying to break loose. She forces her hand up. Eyes wide open but not seeing the blade. Someone is shouting again. Someone so familiar. It won't stop.
"Please, make it stop." She breathes. Blood trickles from her nose. Blood dark on the snow. Blood scratched into fence. A deep sting scratches under her eye.
"Vella, NO!"
Someone grabs her wrist. Knocking the blade from her hand. Chestnut eyes fill her vision.
Her mind comes to it's boiling point. Fever sends her eyes up into her skull. Feeling the first tremors wracking her body as it all goes dark.
-
"She was trying to blind herself."
Cullen's shaken voice.
She spins inside her body. A hand presses a cool rag to her forehead.
"You did well to arrive when you did." Solas' calm voice.
"Please, don't leave her alone." Cullen urged. His hand comes to her chest. Pressing a warm palm. "She... she helped me. When I was weak. I can't... I'll kill him, I swear..."
"We shall tend her." Morrigan's voice reassures.
Cullen's warm palm stays. She reaches for it. A tether. It pulls away again.
"Where are you?" Solas whispers in her ear.
"Apostate, keep reaching for her. She may find her way back."
A cool hand cups her cheek. She tries to focus. Forcing the touch to a narrow point. A rope she follows.
"Yes." Solas speaks in her tongue. "You are right here. Can you find me?"
She follows it up. Filling into her limbs again.
Her hand reaches out for him. Meeting the curve of his fingers. Her eyes slowly focus.
"Lethallin...?" She croaked. Solas' eyes creased with a smile.
"Welcome back."
She blinked at the low candlelight. Vision obstructed over an eye.
"What...?" She rose on an elbow. Gingerly touching the bandage.
"Gentle. You gave yourself a deep gouge." Solas led her fingers away.
"Quite a scare you've given." Morrigan sat on her opposite bedside.
"Yes. We were all concerned. You had been lost all night." Solas cupped her hand in her lap.
"Blackwall!" She gasped, sitting up sharply. Immediately dizzy.
"Careful. Rainier is safe." Solas assured.
"Rainier..." Her heart deflated in her chest. "Oh..."
"Josephine has sent for him. You were calling for him in your sleep, well, for Blackwall. Bear. He's being transferred to the Skyhold cells."
Awful memory returned to her. A throb of numb in her chest. Rising her palm to it.
And, just like that, she was empty.
Din. One who isn't.
All empty.
All shattered.
Cutting into her with every breath.
No tears came. No screaming or wailing or begging. Just the dull throb of utter absence.
"I will tell the others you've woken." Solas patted her hand and retreated from the room.
She sat silent for a long moment.
"Morrigan?"
"Yes?"
"Could you help me?"
Morrigan leaned her head inquisitive. Waving for her to continue.
"I don't want to see anymore. Is there a way to blind me?"
Morrigan turned fully on the bed toward her.
"Literally? Yes, that is very easy done. But I imagine you mean your sight beyond?"
She nodded.
"I've had enough. I don't want to see again. I can't do it anymore."
Morrigan went quiet in front of her. Folding her arms in thought.
"Well, we may not need Dirthamen's gift after all. I have something that will give us another advantage."
Din looked up.
"You may have had the right instinct. If your physical eyes are blinded..."
Morrigan stood and started to pace.
"Yes... it could force it to compensate. Keep it busy. If the whole world is a secret, that would hold priority."
Turning to her to stare determined.
"You wouldn't see, not like now. But it could release you."
Her chest filled with tender hope.
"Do it."
"Let me prepare. I'll consult some texts."
-
"Vella?"
She glanced down at him.
"That isn't my name."
"Ah." Solas smiled sadly. Climbing up the ladder.
They seemed truly determined not to leave her alone. Cullen walked with her the last few nights. Letting her lean on him as she eventually got wobbly. Shrouding her in his cloak. Sometimes, he took her hand. His warm and calloused. Giving a soft squeeze. Speaking sweetly as she spiraled.
"Then what shall I call you?" He offered, sitting next to her on the scaffolding. Both stared at the circle of his fresco.
"Lethallan is nice." She handed him a cup of lemon and cayenne honey.
"Ah, thank you." He sipped at the cup, eyes closing for a moment. "That's lovely. What is it?"
"Something I used to make when I was ill." She circled her fingers over the rim. "Small comforts, you know?"
She marveled at the murals
"But this is all so beautiful. You have a vision."
"You're too kind. They're about you."
She stared at him. Heart raw.
"Show me."
So he did. Pointing from mural to mural. Each a moment of her journey. Each a turning point. Explaining the significance of the choices.
"Wouldn't it have been easier to write it down?" She raised an eyebrow with a sly smile, then let it fall. It felt wrong to play. Cupping the mug in her hands.
"You take me for a scribe?" His voice picked up a rare tease. Despite herself, she smiled again.
"Just another way to spread knowledge. But it is much less breathtaking." She leaned her head back, closing her weary eyes.
She could feel his eyes on her.
"You've stopped singing."
Her eyes opened.
"What?"
"I hear you. At night. Why have you stopped?"
"I just..." Her heart dully ached, but still no tears came. "I think something is broken in me. I can't find the joy again."
He studied her quietly.
"Your vhenan, Rainier..."
"I don't want to talk about it."
They both sat in the inflamed wound. All tender edges. Weeping blood with the beat of her heart.
Solas leaned forward, urging her eyes back to him.
"You helped me. When I needed to find peace for my elgar falon. You've been..." He closed his eyes.
"You're unexpected. Wisdom, curiosity, beauty. You've had every chance to shut the world out. Please don't take that path. Stay open."
She shook her head.
"I want to. I do. But I don't know how to stay soft anymore."
He took a deep breath out. Resolving something.
"Let me help you."
Her eyes met his.
"Then Morrigan is right?"
He nodded.
"But you must meet me in the Fade first. Dream, Lethallan. I will follow."
"I can't."
"I will lead you."
She laid back on the scaffolding, resting her hands on her belly. Solas laid parallel to her.
Her body fell fast. Sleep enveloped her as a plunge into the sea.
"Solas?"
She looked around a great forest. An awe near fear sharp in her chest.
"I'm here." He cupped her forearm gently. "Forgive me, I forgot dreaming is foreign to you."
"It's so... it's breathtaking." Her eyes met his again. "Is this what it's always like?"
"Not for most. But my traveling is like this, yes."
He led her by the curve of her fingers to sit on a stone near the water.
"And perhaps, yours shall be too."
She looked up at him. Surprise heavy in her heart. Hope a poison she held in her mouth, ready to swallow.
"If your tie to Dirthamen is weakened, it may let you sleep like this. To dream. But yours is a heavy gift to discard."
His eyes searched hers. Seeking confirmation. Permission.
She held his hand in hers.
"I'm sure. This is what I want. I want to have my own mind. I want to be free."
He stared down at their joined hands for a moment. Rubbing her thumb experimentally with his.
"If that is the case, I must tell you something."
He turned her hand to stare at her palm, running a soft fingertip over the lines.
"The vallasin. I have journeyed far enough to discover what it truly means. They are slave markings. From the time of ancient Arlathan. When the Pantheon ruled elves."
"So my people were wrong." She nodded. Saddened, but not surprised. "Our history is so muddled, I could see it being mistranslated over time."
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay. Thank you. For telling me." She sighed.
"If you like, I know a spell... I can remove the vallasin with your sight."
She lifted her hand to gently touch her face. Giving the ink a tender moment.
"This tattoo has kept me safe. It was subterfuge. A mask. But, I will no longer need it, will I?"
Solas rubbed her thumb, a silent assurance.
"Do it. It has served me well. I will discard it fondly."
He smiled, raising his hands to cradle the air around her face.
"Close your eyes."
"Wait."
She looked around the misty grove. Drinking in the full of the scenery.
"I'm grateful it was a beautiful dream. The last thing I saw. Thank you for bringing me here."
He paused, staring at her with soft eyes.
"Okay, I'm ready." She let her eyes fall closed again.
"You will feel some discomfort, but no pain. I couldn't let Morrigan butcher you. To send you to the dark that way."
She smiled with her eyes closed.
"She was just going to pour some acid in my eyes, wasn't she?"
"You're not far off. Now hush."
She smiled wide.
His hands were warm and tingled along her face, a light visible beyond her lids.
"It tickles!" She stifled her giggle.
He laughed.
"You are a strange, wonderful thing."
"Was that the vallasin?"
"Yes, keep your eyes closed, sulahn."
His palms settled on her temples.
"Song. I like that." She sighed in Elvhen.
"I hope you find a new name." He whispered.
His palms lifted slowly, and she could feel something pull behind her eyes. Squeezing her shut eyes to not squirm.
Then she felt it. A gentle pop. Something separating. Flashes of light filled her vision.
She opened her eyes as a curtain of dark fell. Gasping as it all fell to void. Eyes wide but seeing only velvet dark.
"Now... what do you see?"
She concentrated, feeling for sight deep inside her.
Just as she was about to give up, something bloomed. Gasping out as the world filled around her.
A circle of sight extended around her, definition of shapes like fine shifting sand. Color was gone, the world only shades of light and dark. Vision sliding along the physical as wind.
She reached for the stone beneath her, entranced by the sight of her own hand. The same thin particles dancing around her skin.
"Solas, it's..." She lifted her eyes.
"Oh..."
His body was ringed in many ribbons of soft blue light. Moving in languid circled rivers. Eyes glowing in it.
"Oh, Solas..." She marveled. Lifting her hand to gently twist her fingers in it.
He shuddered, pulling her wrist down.
"I'm sorry." She breathed.
"You're forgiven." He smiled. His face spectral in the shifting dark. "How do you feel?"
She closed her eyes. The vision slowly faded. Only imprints left. Then she opened them again. It refilled as gentle as before.
Her head was quiet. Tears bubbled on her waterline. Cupping a hand over her mouth.
"It's quiet. Oh Gods, it's so quiet. I've never felt peace like this."
She saught his eyes again. "And I can sleep? I can dream?"
"Yes." The soft triumph in his voice filled her heart.
"I've never done it before. I might need a guide."
His smile ached her heart. Cupping her hands in his again.
"I will find you. But now you must wake."
-
Din kneeled in the garden, focusing on a rose bush. Smiling at the way the particles danced around it. All shapes were made of silt caught in the flow of her river. The intricate layer of petals entranced her.
She wasn't used to the passage of time quite yet, but knew it was night. A new set of conditions she had to live by, ones she was eager to learn.
"Vella? Oh, sorry... I guess I don't know what to call you." Josephine called out sheepishly.
"Sera has too many offers, but Solas came up with Sulahn." She offered brightly.
"Hmm, that is pretty." Josie smiled.
If she focused, she could see the color of her. A warm orange that glowed deep at the crest of her ribs, under her heart. A sunset.
The color was much more potent around mages. Though, not as much as Solas'. She had already dipped her fingers into Dorian's deep crimson river. A sensation he found delightfully tantalizing.
"You seem so much better." Josephine sighed contented. Kneeling with her for a moment. "And no tattoo! But I'm sorry it had to be like..." She gestured to her blindfold. "This."
"You can see me, right?" Josephine held up her hand flat.
Din pressed her palm to hers.
"Yes, I can."
"That's remarkable."
She let out a deep sigh. "Blackwa- Rainier will be here by morning."
Josephine took her hand gently in hers.
"Do you think you're ready? To see him?"
"With new eyes..." She sighed. "I think so."
"I'm so sorry. I know his lie has been devastating."
"It still doesn't feel real. I still haven't cried." She pressed her palm to her heart, if only to confirm its beat. "Gods, it seemed like I couldn't stop crying before. Now I'm just..."
"Numb?" Josephine offered sadly.
"Yeah. So much of myself was braided into him. Having him severed... I don't know who I am here. I feel like I have to start over. I'm exhausted. I dont want to start over."
Tears finally started to pool in her eyes.
"Oh... there they are." She smiled. Wiping gently with the side of her thumb under the mask. Staring down at the shades of her hand. The light fluid slipped down her thumb.
"Are they..." She looked up at Josephine.
"Still silver. Sorry."
"It's okay. I've gained more than enough."
"You will have to sit in his judgment." Josephine sighed, taking her hands again. "Do you know what you'll say?"
She shook her head.
"Could you do something for me?" She hushed.
"Of course." Josephine smiled.
Din pulled off her blindfold.
"Could you tell me what you see?"
She opened her eyes. Staring at the beautiful shift of her face.
Josephine studied the whole of her face with parted lips, her sweet eyes centered back on hers.
"Well, that cut is going to scar, but your eyes are surprisingly beautiful. Like clouds caught behind your pupil. The color is gone, though. In your iris. But it's almost like moonstone. Melding with the white."
She leaned toward her. Voice falling to hush as she spoke.
"And I feel like I can see you now, without the tattoo. You have perfect freckles. Sun-kissed cheeks. Your lips are so..."
Her mouth slid into hers. So softly kissing into her. Just as Din started to lean in, she pulled away.
"Andraste's Mercy, I am so sorry!"
"I'm not." She breathed, pulling her back. Josie whimpered into her hungry kiss. Rising onto knees with her. Din's hand cupped under her ear. Breathing hard through the part of their lips.
"Thank you." She whispered when she pulled away. Josie's pupils were full blown, staring at her with sweet doe eyes. "I needed that. Maybe I'm not empty, after all."
"Happy to help." Josephine breathed.
She pressed a hand to Josephine's glow.
"It's orange. Your light. Marigold."
Josephine looked up at her. Letting out a dreamy sigh.
"I see why you have all the men in camp following like puppies. Mercy..."
"Ha, but I haven't kissed any of them yet. Maybe I'll start with Cullen."
"Don't." Josie laughed, pulling her to stand. Leading her hand over a bent arm. "That man is too sweet to not fall sword first."
"All you knights and ladies..." She laughed. "Nobody has fun, do they?"
"Absolutely not." Josephine patted her hand. "But we try."

Note
hey discet, what are some of your favorite parts of the whole fanfic? (sorry I have an artistic block xd)
No worries. Hmmm lots of fun moments that I love
Chapter 1: Marcy standing over the people of Wartwood, torch in one hand and hairspray in the other just scaring everyone in chapter 1.
2: Marcy and Sprig becoming friends under the roots of the dead tree.
5: Marcy and Polly working on their little bucket cart together.
6: Marcy maniacally laughing as she comprehended the full scope of what the zapapedles could accomplish. Also the pokemon catching scene. Also Marcy Polly and Sprig all gaming together in the living room.
8: Yunan looking down on Sasha after the big snake fight and Sasha is exhausted.
10: Marcy tearing up as she realizes that the Plantars were formally asking her to join their family. Anything from that morning. Sprig and Polly bringing her breakfast in bed couch. Marcy gripping onto the family shrub while her family hugged her. Also Hop Pop stepping in and telling Marcy she had to stop and Marcy letting slip that she already saw the Plantars as family. God chapters 10-12 were an absolute joy to write.
11: Marcy saying goodbye to the Plantars at the end of the chapter.
12: So many things. World Hoppers planning the heist while in the sewers. Marcy and Sprig hugging each other after reuniting in her cell room. Everything that happens on the wall. Hop Pop stopping by the side of the road to help clean up Marcy and comfort her.
14: Marcy and Anne reuniting, Anne and Sprig having a moment after Marcy almost falls off. Marcy's gay panic over Anne specifically when Anne starts snuggling into Marcy while asleep.
15: Marcy comforting Anne after Anne gets caught.
16: Marcy and Anne down in the glow stone caverns, everything in that scene.
17: Marcy standing up for Anne against the people of Wartwood. Marcy and Anne having a fun snow day together, going down the sled, snowball fight, all of it was very fluffy and I like it a lot. Anne comforting Marcy after she opens up to her about trajectory, making good on her promise to be rely on her more.
18: Anne realizing she likes Marcy while she is infodumping. I think its a very cute culmination of the last four chapters. Going from tuning out Marcy's ramblings to having it being a component to her realizing her own feelings. Marcy's incense thrower invention! I really liked the concept of Marcy kicking open the door to the spa to Anne's rescue.
19: Marcy getting flustered in the aftermath of coming out to her family. Just tryin to get back control on the conversation after it had totally left the rails. Obviously Anne confessing to Marcy and putting her worries to rest. Anne baiting Hop Pop into taking the box and then confronting him about it. It's one of those moments that I really like as a consequence of the swap AU. Where Anne and Hop Pop don't have that close relationship with one another.
20: The whole festival scene with the World Hoppers exploring the games and stuff. Especially the dunking tank with Anne and Marcy up themselves. There's just a great vibe all through here. Anne and Marcy playing Puzzle Fighters and Anne kissing kissing Marcy on the cheek to distract her long enough to win, all while the world hoppers have rallied around Anne. Anne and Marcy enjoying the fireworks and kissing.
21: Honestly any moment from this chapter is great. The town standing up for Hop Pop The Plantars packing up their home and having to flee. Big hug between the trio just before Sasha insists on her plan. Anne and Sasha fighting against each other. The exact moment before Yunan charged through the detonating boompowder in her duel with Marcy. Marcy holding Yunan over the cliff face while her eyes are stone cold. Marcy blowing the mind control powder into Sasha's face. Marcy supporting Anne onto the fwagon due to her bruised rib. Marcy on one knee promising to fix things to Anne in Val shrouded in the mist
Okay I could do moments for AAA but I've already been at this for an hour or two reminicing, so I'm gonna cut it here. Sorry for this deluge. I know it's a lot.

It's been over 24hrs since I watched the finale and while there are plenty of decisions I didn't love, there's loads of things I really adored so here are some of them
- Nini giving Ricky the lottery ticket was actually the perfect end to their arc. Ricky's face says it all, but that feeling of somebody who's no longer in your life still knowing parts of you better than anyone... yeah that shit is real
- Big Red bi reveal. What. Magic. "Good for him." I died.
- on a serious note tho, I'm v glad Redlyn are still together and happy and bi!!!!
- Kourtney anxiety arc has just been brilliant throughout, but Let It Go was sensational!!!!
- Kristoff's Lullaby was everything I hoped for. That look from Ricky to Gina made me meltttt. But also, the realisation for both EJ and Gina about Ricky is so palpableee
- Ricky threatening Channing was hot, I said what I said
- The scene with EJ calling his Dad and Val holding him... so so so good. It hurt like anything, but Matt and Meg absolutely nailed it.
- Corbin Bleu actually made a completely forgettable HSM2 song, good??
- the Maddox and Jet sibling moment during the trailer reveal was spot on
- not a fan of the time jump, and I still don't know how I feel about rina happening so soon *BUT* the more I think about the confession, the line I keep coming back to is "unless you stop me." Gina has a suspicion that Ricky likes her, but she props the door open and leaves it so that Ricky has to actually make the move. Yes, we all felt that it should have been Ricky putting in the effort after all Gina went through in s2, and the fact that she has always been the one saying how she feels. But in this moment, while she is still the one to say how she feels, it is Ricky who has to step up and act on that - he has to respond if he doesn't want to lose a chance with her again... and ooft. The more I think about it, the more I bloody love it.
- "Don't get me started." (And you shouldn't !!!!!!!!!)

-Cold- Loki Laufeyson x Female Reader
    ☼-☪-☼
Kody: First Loki imagine, let’s do this. DISCLAIMER. MOST OF THE DIALOGUE FROM THE CANONICAL CHARACTERS IS TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM THE MOVIE TO MAKE IT MORE REALISTIC. YOU CAN TELL WHICH PARTS I WROTE AND DIDN’T WRITE. OKAY? okayyyy
Movie/Show: Thor: Ragnarok- but you somehow know strange. Don’t question me lmao.
Summary: while staying with Dr. Strange for a bit, you end up meeting your old friend again, Thor. What you don’t expect is too meet with his adopted brother Loki. Who turns out to be your perfect match (Vague for reasons)
Possible Triggers / Warnings: Very long story, Slowburn, Steven and Tony being a dad, cursing, Val being kinda great
    ☼-☪-☼
sometimes being stuck in the avengers base was.....stressful. with Vision being like a newborn baby around everything, you constantly had to help him understand certain things. Like a microwave or a stove since he wanted to learn how to cook for Wanda. Kinda cute actually.
you could hear Natasha cry at night about Bruce vanishing during the battle against Ultron. You tried to comfort hr once or twice, but she was adamant about handling it on her own. You wish you could have helped more. It’s not like you could hug her without layers of clothing covering almost every inch of your skin.
oh yeah, the whole reason you were even there is because Tony Stark had found you with Wanda and Pietro. You were slightly different from them, no telekinesis, telepathy, or enhanced agility and reflexes. Your mercular DNA was ripped apart then put back together with enhancements, unique ones.
your body was now able to freeze anything with just a touch and manipulate it, but with all powers. There were side effects. You couldn’t touch anyone without giving them frostbite. Your powers were too much for you too handle so your body was constantly below freezing.
it was terrible. You had lived so long without the feeling of another's skin on yours. You could never, hug, hold someone's hand, kiss, do....that. You were condemned to a life of touch starvation. It sucked, but you still kept a smile on your face.
during a errand run in new york you had met Steven Strange. You had recognized him from his work as a doctor and gave him your condolences for his accident. He seemed to take some sort of interest in you, which you later figured out that he knew you had your ‘enhancements’ from the news.
he explained to you that with his help he may be able to train you to keep your body temperature at a normal human one. You were a bit off put by his offer and he gave you a simple address in case you changed your mind and with that. You left.
    ☼-☪-☼
   a month later
“Tony it’s just for a little while-”
“No! your running off with some rando voodoo doctor who could kill you and steal your kidneys!”
your face twinges a bit in confusion. You had told everyone that you’d be leaving for awhile and they all wished you luck on your solo adventure. You had also decided to wait till the actual day you were leaving to tell Tony. He was a tad overprotective of you when it came to strangers.
“He’s not going to steal my kidneys- Tony my car is waiting i have to go” you say as you pick up the bag you had dropped on the floor as the whole ordeal again. “Didn’t know you had such little trust in me” he exhales deeply, pressing a finger to his temple in visible frustration.
“I do trust you. I don’t trust the world outside of these walls” Tony admits. you will confess, you liked his weird fatherly side. “Well- the world as you call it can freeze if they touch me. You have to let me do things on my own Tony” you give him a half smile.
Tony expression turns into his thinking one, which is either a good or a very bad thing. He digs into his pocket and pulls out what looks like a jewelry box “Are you trying to bribe me with diamond earrings?” you ask, slightly unimpressed with him.
he rolls his eyes and lifts the lid. You see a silver necklace with a star pendant. You could faintly see a small blue crystal in the middle. It reminded you of his reactor, Clever. It was still technically a bribe, but it was indeed a beautiful necklace.
“No. I made this about a month ago and could never think of the right time. It’s a necklace with a beacon. If you need help press the blue button under the silver lid and i’ll come get and save you. Like always” Tony finishes his sentence off with a smirk, which makes you chuckle.
you reach and grab the box with your gloved hand “Thank you, Tony” you say and pull the necklace out the box. You undo the clasp and wrap it around your neck, clasping it back. Tony gives you his proud dad smile and pats your shoulder “If this witch man is able to help you. I get to be your first hug”
you break out into laughter, nodding “Of course” you say and he chuckles along with you. You hear a honk from outside “I’m coming. Chill out Happy!” you shout. Tony gulps and waves you off “Go ahead, i’m not keeping you any longer.” he says.
smiling, you sling the bag over your shoulder and nod at him “I’ll see you soon Tony” you say and turn around, heading out the door and towards the car waiting outside. Happy rolled down the window, same unhappy expression on his face “what took you so long!”
rolling your eyes, you open the passenger door and throw your bag on the car floor before hoping in. “You know Tony, stubborn as ever” you reply, closing the door. Happy replies with a small hum before starting up the car. You pull out the card with the address and hand it to Happy.
Tony watched you walk out, his face dropping a bit “Come back home kiddo”
    ☼-☪-☼
   two weeks later
in your short time with Strange he showed you the most incredible things that you never knew. It also hurt your brain to think about how big the multiverse really was, but Strange was able to explain it in simple terms. He had also given you a meditation regiment that you followed everyday.
it was supposed to help you calm your mind enough that you could force your body to warm up. It hasn’t changed anything so far, but Strange said it was normal. While reading a novel across from Strange who was- looking out a window. “Great” he grumbles under his breath.
you lower the book, sliding the juice bar stamp card you used as a bookmark between the pages. “Is something wrong?” you ask, tilting your head. Strange’s eyebrows furrow “Someone who isn’t supposed to be here. Is here. Along with his slightly intelligent brother”
what- “I don’t follow?” you say as he makes his way downstairs. You quickly jump out the chair and go to follow him. In a quick movement his cloak unclipped from his body and stopped in front of you, blocking your movements “Um Strange?” you call out.
he stops at the bottom of the stairs and turns his head to look at you “You stay here. If there is a fight it could be dangerous” he spoke. “I can help fight with my ability-” he holds up his hand, stopping you from talking. It reminded you of Tony a little bit.
“That is the exact reason you need to stay. Using your powers could throw off what you have worked for so far” he spoke. Sighing deeply, you nod “Okay, i’ll stay. I promise” you say to reassure him. Strange nods and his cloak returns to him, clipping back on.
“Thank you” he says and lifts his arms up, he starts performing what you assume is a spell while mumbling under his breath. It lasted a couple seconds before he walked off to the lower floor. You had to ask him how he did certain spells like that portal one, just to mess with Steve.
you heard your stomach grumble and sighed “Strange needs to invest in a fucking microwave. I want a hot pocket so bad”
     ☼-☪-☼
you guilt tripped wong into magic-ing a microwave in the sanctum. Poor dude, but hey- hot pocket. You also changed out of your pjs because wong said you were ‘lazy’ what a tool. You did anyway and ended up wearing a long sleeve black turtleneck, matching gloves with heather grey and white plaid pants.
As you took your last bite you heard talking, but not just Stranges voice, a deeper one. Sounded somewhat familiar, but you couldn’t quite recognize it fully. It came from downstairs. You look at the steps and bit your bottom lip, thinking. Strange told you to stay, but-
   screw it
slowly you step down, making sure it didn’t creak too loud and alarm Strange to your presence. Once you made it all the way down the voices stopped. What the hell? Oh wait they were coming from the first floor now. Was Strange just teleporting throughout sanctum.
   yes
the talking got louder and you peaked around the corner. First you spotted Strange, twisting a strange of hair in his hands? He ended up throwing it in the air and it created a portal. Okay then. Then when you looked beside him, you saw- no, it can’t be.
   “Thor?!”
you ran down the stairs, tripping over your feet a bit. The god turned around and smiled upon seeing you “Lady Y/n! It has been quite some time. You have grown indeed!” he says. You nod, almost reaching out to hug him, but stopped. Thor noticed and gave you a sad smile.
“I thought i told you to stay upstairs?” Strange spoke. You chuckle nervously and gesture to Thor “I haven’t seen him in a long time. I’m sorry” you say. Strange looks like he wants to stay mad at you but exhales deeply “Your forgiven, under the circumstances”
you smile brightly. Strange was a pretty cool guy. You turn away from him and back at Thor “So, what’s going on? Why are you back on earth? What happened to figuring out your vision and going back to asgard?” you ask a multitude of questions.
Thor shakes his head “My witch of a brother has hidden my father on earth and i need to get him back. This wizard has offered me help in return that i take Loki back to asgard where he belongs.” Thor explains. You nod slowly, you had never met the god of mischief himself, only heard stories.
“Loki is here?” you ask and gaze around the room.
you heard Strange gasp before lifting his arms “Oh yeah right” he swirls his hands as a portal forms on the ceiling. A distant scream was heard before a man with long black hair and a matching suit popped out and crashed onto the floor, Loki.
Loki slowly lifts his head, whipping his hair out of his face and propping himself up on his elbows “I have been falling, for thirty minutes!” he shouts. Damn- thirty minutes? “That’s cold Strange and that’s a lot coming from me” you say, making Thor snicker a bit.
“You can handle it from here?” Strange nods towards Thor who does the same, reaching over to shake his hand. “Thank you very much for your help” Loki lifts himself off the floor and turns to look a Strange, glaring daggers at him. “Handle me?” he snaps, venom lacing his tone.
Oh! Look actual daggers. Oh wait- Loki came towards Strange and in an instant your eyes turned a bright white, no pupils and your skin turned an icy white, with the nose and tips of your ears and fingers a light blue. You stepped in front of strange as cold fog emitted from your hands.
you were breathing heavily which came out as fog as well. Thor had seen you like this before so this was pretty normal for him.  Strange stared at you for a moment, just blinking. He had seen this before- “Don’t touch the wizard” you breathed out.
Loki’s angered face turned into a smug look “And who do you think you are to challenge me, mortal?” he questions, drawing closer towards you. Before any harm could be done to either of you, Thor stepped between, looking at his brother “Brother, you will not harm Lady Y/n. She is a friend”
aw how sweet. Loki takes another look at you before his daggers retreat “Fine” he grumbles. Your skin turns back to its normal S/c and your pupils return “Thanks Thor” you say and he nods at you. Strange coughed before gesturing to the portal.
Thor exhales before smiling lightly “Right. Thank you so much for your help again and it was lovely to see you Lady Y/n” he spoke. You smile “Just Y/n is fine. I hope you find what your looking for” you spoke. You couldn’t imagine what you’d do if Tony went missing. Thor must have been going crazy.
“You’ll have to tell me all about it once you get back Y/n” Strange spoke suddenly, making you turn your head to face him once again with a confused expression. “What are you talking about?” you ask. Thor steps beside you while Loki stood s a few feet behind both of you.
“Oh you’ll be going along with them” Strange spoke casually as he began to make his way up the stairs. What the hell? “Um- why?! What about my regiment?” you question. Strange stops at the top of the stairs and faces the three of you, hands behind his back.
he studies your face, then Thor’s, then Loki. “Trust me” is all he says before disappearing into a portal of his own. You blinked mindlessly for a couple seconds “Uh-” “Lady Y/n- i mean just Y/n. I suppose you’ll be accompanying me and my brother. Once we return to asgard, will send you home.”
you looked at Thor, thinking. Should you go? You had never been to another planet before, so you were completely unaware of what was too possibly happen. Even if you were afraid of the unknown, you could not pass up this opportunity “Let’s go”
Thor pats your clothes back and smiles “Alright, into the mystic portal we go!” he cheers, making you chuckle. “Not only am i stuck with my oaf of a brother, but also some mortal quim” Loki snarls from behind you. Oh isn’t he a breath of fresh air “Yeah, cry about it antlers”
yikes, you’ve been around tony too much.
Loki’s fist clench before all three of you walk through the portal.
you all ended up in a grassy field. It was beautiful. The smell of the sea nearby filled your nose, causing a calm feeling to course through you. “I don’t see father” Thor spoke, looking around. You gaze about as well and spot a man at the edge of the field.
placing a glove hand on Thor, you tap him. The god looks at you as you point at Odin. Thor sighs deeply “Let’s go Loki” he spoke and waved for this brother to follow. You stayed put as Loki passed you, his arm grazing yours for a moment. There is like so much field to walk around you, but okay-
You turn around and began to walk in the other direction, giving them some space. It wasn’t your business to put yourself into their family drama.
    ☼-☪-☼
You walk mindlessly for a couple minutes, making sure to stay relatively close to the brothers and his father. You stop and look at them for a moment just as Odin had turned to a fine gold powder/dust and blew away into the sky. Oh no- Odin, he’s dead.
just before you could even think another thought the sky began to crack in thunder. From the distance you were at you could Thor’s fingers spark up as he turned towards Loki. Oh god he’s going to kill him. Your previous thoughts of not getting involved were thrown out as you began to run towards them.
you couldn’t let Thor hurt his brother, he would surely regret it later. A green energy ball formed couple feet in front of you, stopping you from running towards the brothers. You had stopped your feet so harshly it caused you to fall back onto your butt.
the green energy grew bigger as the brother began to draw close to it. A flash of thunder changed Thor’s clothes into his original asgardian armor and Loki used to Magic to change his to a green leather outfit. Seemed very Loki-ish. The energy stopped forming and you were sure that Thor or Loki couldn’t see you.
just as fast as the green energy appeared, it vanished to reveal the back of a women, she had long black hair and a matching outfit. Who was this? That didn’t matter right now considering Thor look liked he was ready to fight which means that you had to be.
“So he’s gone?” the woman spoke, referring to Odin you presumed. She gazes around for a moment before looking back at the boys “Such a shame, i would have liked to have seen that” she said. Oh- well that’s just rude. “You must be Hela” Thor spoke. So that was her name.
“I’m Thor, son of odin” he continued. He just had to introduce himself right now? How formal of him. You slowly began to stand up. This woman had not noticed you, which means you had the upper hand. “Really?” she asked, a amused tone present within her voice.
“You don’t look like him” Hela adds. you thought Thor looked like Odin- just a tad. Why are you thinking about this right now. “Perhaps we can come to an arrangement?” Loki spoke. Well at least Thor isn’t trying to kill Loki right now. Now that you think about it Hela and Loki kind of looked alike.
Hela lifts her arm a bit to pint at Loki, before dropping it to her side a second later “You sound like him” she says before taking a step closer “Kneel” she commands. “Beg your pardon?” Loki leans forward as if he had not heard what he had just said. Uh oh.
Hela’s arm twist, a long blade forming in her hand. “Kneel...before your queen” she repeats once more. Queen?!. You take a deep breath, pupils disappearing, skin turning white and blue, and fog emitting from your hands. Let’s do this. Thor takes a step forward, gazing at you for only a second “I don’t think so”
Loki took a glance at Thor. You both knew what the god of thunder was about to do. Thor lifts his arm and throws his hammer at Hela, but- she caught it. She caught Thor’s hammer?! Oh shit. Both Loki and Thor’s face turn into a grim and confused one.
“It’s..not possible” Thor spoke in disbelief. “Darling, you have no idea what’s possible” Hela spoke before squeezing her hand around Mjollnir. She was crushing the hammer. In a split second a burst of electricity and wind was sent everywhere.
you lift your arm and cover your face to protect your eyes. Once it died down you move your arm and saw Thor’s hammer in pieces on the grass. What was she? Who was she? Hela lifted her arms to her head and slid them back along the base of her skull, forming a large spiked crown.
she repeated her hand movements from earlier except with both her arms. Two blades in each hand. You had to move now. You close your palms together and pull them apart, an ice spear forming in between. You ran up to her and jumped in the air to get a higher advantage.
“Y/n, no!” Thor shouts as he runs up to Hela as well. Loki looks up in the sky and shouts “Bring us back!” Hela turns around quickly and spots you running towards her. Just as you were about to land on her, she grabs your neck. “Now who are you?” she asked. but you didn’t answer.
instead you rip a glove off one of your hands and press it to her face. Hela screams in agony and throws you towards Thor. You landed on him with hard thud. That’s going to hurt in the morning. Suddenly a portal formed around all three of you and sent you into the sky. It was the same one Thor usually left on.
Your body felt weird all over like you were about to vomit or pass out- maybe both. You looked up and saw Thor a few feet up above you and you assumed Loki was under you. Thor looks down at you, then Loki “Loki!” he shouts and the black haired god looks under him, you so as well.
Hela was just behind you all “She wasn’t even in the portals range!” you shout, earning now answer from either brothers. Lok reaches into his sleeve and pulls out a small blade. He lifts his arm and chucks it at her, but she dodges it easily and sends it flying back towards Loki.
Loki had another blade in hand and used that one to dodge the other hela threw at him, but it sent him flying out the portal “Y/n! follow loki! I’ll find you both. I promise!” Thor shouts and without a second thought you use your spear to stab into the portal and push yourself out.
sometimes you wished you thought about things first.
    ☼-☪-☼
your head was throbbing and aching in the worst way possible, like you had crashed into a wall. Your eyes slowly open and you see a regular sky with purple portals spread throughout it- okay maybe not so normal. “Hands off of me you mewling quim!” you know that complaining tone from anywhere.
you push yourself off the ground, using some random junk metal to lean on. Looking around you would think you were in some junk yard. No time to wonder where you were because you had a god to help. You push things out your way before you spot what looked like scavengers, mostly wearing masks.
they were holding onto Loki’s arms. Couldn’t he just use his magic? Guess not. Anyway, you jump down from the ledge your on, catching most of their attention “We just got on this planet and your already pissing the natives off?” you question Loki.
he narrows his blue eyes at you as he struggles against the people holding his arms “Get on with it!” he shouts at you. No please? Whatever. You activate your powers, slowly pulling the other glove off of your hand “Hand over the god will you?”
“You’ll have to get through all of us!” one man shouts. They hold up their weapons at you making you sigh “Alright, have it your way” you shrug, flicking your hand, a dark blue blade with a silver handle forming in the palm of your hand.
the scavengers ran towards you. One swung a club at you, but you caught his arm in your hand. The man screams in agony as his whole arm turns black with frostbite. You take that opportunity to slice his now very crunchy arm off. Then it’s kind of a rinse and repeat for the rest of them until one is left.
The man lets go of Loki and begins to run away. Good choice. Loki drops to the ground, trying to catch his breath “Why did you follow me?” Loki asked suddenly. You look down at him and shrug “Thor asked me to in the portal. He said he’d come find us” you explain.
you pull out the extra pair of gloves from your back pocket and slipped them on. They were a plain black leather pair. Once they were on, you hold out your hand for him to take. Loki takes one look at your hand and scoffs before standing up himself. Rude.
“If my brother went off to fight Hela alone. He’s most likely dead already” Loki says curtly as he dusts off his outfit. Your eyes widen a bit. Thor wasn’t dead, he couldn’t be. “Who is she anyway?” you ask. Loki’s jaw locks, glancing at the ground before you
   “Our sister”
your E/c eyes went wider this time. Since when did Thor have a sister? Was she adopted too? She claery had a disdain for her father just as much as Loki did. Maybe Thor was the one who was actually adopted. “Oh- wow” you comment.
“Enough about my family. I have to figure out what planet i’m on” Loki interjects as he begins to walk away “Hey! Whether you like it or not we’re in this together, I could have left your ass to die, remember that!” you shout at him. His walking stops and he faces you once more- oh shit.
he steps towards you and you back up until a piece of debris. Loki stops inches from your face, his hand reaching up to your neck to hold it in his hand “Don’t assume for a moment that you and i are some sort of friends like you are with my brother” he speaks lowly.
you glare right back at him “Let go of me before i put a icicle through your eye” you snarl at him. A small smirk forms on his face “You put up this illusion that you are as tough as nails, but i can see right through you. Your just as broken as the rest of us. Let’s explore that shall we?”
Loki reaches up and places his hand on your forehead.
    ☼-☪-☼
  two years ago
Loki opened his eyes and looked around the room. Where was he? He was in the darkest memories of your mind.  “Put her in the chamber” Strucker spoke as three men went over to grab a pale woman on the floor. You. You were wearing a hospital gown and your hair was overgrown.
you flaid, kicked, and screamed “Please! No! i’ll try harder i swear! Please!” when you had first developed your powers and the doctors realized they couldn’t touch you Strucker thought you had been doing it on purpose. So mean with full body suits would put you in a heat chamber.
the intense heat had a even stronger effect on you because of your unique enhancement. Strucker opens the door as the three men throw you in. You land on the ground with a hard thud and stand up quickly, running towards the door but it had already shut.
Strucker stands outside the glass window that showed you inside and looked towards a woman sitting at the desk “Turn it on, the highest it can go” he spoke and she nods, pressing a green button before pushing a dial up. Loki looks confused for a moment as he stands beside strucker.
the room starts to heat up and you fall to the ground your tears sizzling as they ran down your face. At the moment Loki took a step back. Heat exhaustion. A form of torture he knew all to well. something he hoped to never witness again. You let out screams of agony until you eventually passed out.
back in 2012 when earth was attack by Loki he was under the control of Thanos who had kidnapped him and tortured him with the same methods because of his Jotun side. It worked nonetheless and he was under Thanos’s control.
    ☼-☪-☼
Loki opened his eyes and snatched his hand away from your head. You slid down against the debris until you hit the ground with a small thud. He had made you relive your worst fears like it had just happened only moments ago. How could he do such a thing.
“I’m so-” before Loki could say another word he felt something bite at his neck. He hissed and reached for his neck and felt something cold and metallic. He tried to tug it off, but instead got harsh bursts of electricity shot through his body over and over again.
he fell to the ground, shaking violently, turning his head he saw you. You were holding your face, still shaken up. Loki watched as someone came up to you and hit you with a blunt object, knocking you out cold. Loki reached his hand out to you, but it seemed his body gave up on him and he passed out.
    ☼-☪-☼
Loki awoke with the sound of people talking around him. He went to move his arms first but they were chained behind his back “Oh look he’s awake good! Hello! I’m the grandmaster, ruler of Sakaar.” a man with blue strips on his face spoke and a robe type outfit.
“May i ask why i’m in chains?” Loki questions with his usual ‘i could kill all of you’ smirk. The grandmaster shrugs his shoulders “Had to make sure you and your friend weren’t hostile. It’s only temporary of course” He says. Friend? Who was he talking about? Y/n.
Loki looked around instantly, trying to find you of course “Oh yes, she’s currently in the infirmary Our scraper hit her a bit too hard. Anyway, whats your name?” the grandmaster asked, gesturing to the scraper next to him. Some random girl with light brown skin and white markings over her face.
   he would kill her later.
“Loki of asgard, god of mischief” he spoke, giving his best presentable grin. The grandmaster laughs. Rude “God of mischief, how spooky. Tell me god of pranks, did you fight on asgard?” he questions. Loki raises a brow. What was this man playing at?
“i was used for my intelligence more then my strength. Battle plans, strategies, political consultant and such” Loki explains, slightly lying out of his ass. the grandmaster looked impressed, at least that’s what Loki thought. How would we get out of this one?
“Hm. Well- you will be spared from fighting in the contest of champions as well as your lady friend. As long as you swear your undying loyalty to me and my planet” The Grandmaster stands up from his chair and walks to Loki. He waves his hand at one of the guards.
the guard beside Loki reached down to uncuff his hands and took off his neck chip. Loki shrugged them off before standing up, rubbing his wrists. The Grandmaster stood in front of him with his hand out. Loki gave him a grin and grabbed his hand, shaking it “I swear” he spoke.
the Grandmaster smile before his eyes trail him up and down “How bout we get you into some yellow. green’s a bit tacky”
   “Pardon?”
    ☼-☪-☼
   later that night
a guard escorted Loki to his accommodations in his new green and yellow suit. “Green is not tacky, it’s a very classy color. What a moron” he grumbles under his breath. Once the door open, he stepped inside and looked around. (similar to Hulks, but dark green and white)
it’ll do for now. He only got to take one step before he was pushed against a wall, something cold and sharp jabbed at the side of his neck, pressing firmly but not enough to break skin “Oh- it’s just you” a voice spoke. Yours. Loki looked down at you.
your head had a bandage around it and your top was missing leaving you in a black sports bra and your plaid pants from earlier. loki couldn’t help but notice your delectable figure, making him breath heavily “Eyes up here you son of a bitch” you snap, pressing the icicle further in his neck.
Loki looked at your face and notice a bruise forming on your jaw. It made him....angry to say the least, but he couldn’t understand why. “Would you kindly get that out of my face. I just saved us” he says. You give him a ‘what’ face and slowly remove the icicle, your body turning back to normal once again.
“How?” you question, walking towards the bed in the center of the room, Loki following “I have made good with Grandmaster so he wont make us compete in some barbaric tournament” he spoke, boosting his own ego really You roll your eyes and take a seat on the bed “How does that help us, were still stuck here”
Loki scoffs “I just made sure you weren’t going to be killed. You could at least say thank you” you felt a anger boiling within you “Thank you?! You want me to say thank you?! Remember we aren’t friends. I should have stayed with Thor, but for some reason i cant comprehend, he still cares about you”
Loki felt his chest tighten a bit at your words about his brother. You were right. No matter how much he betrayed Thor he would always be at his side to fight alongside him, but he never admitted it. “I should have used my necklace. I should have never left the base” you thought aloud
the god looked puzzled “What necklace?” you look at him for a moment then at the ceiling “Tony gave me this necklace with a beacon. I had forgotten all about it until some bitch nurse took it away because it wasn’t aloud. I tried to get it back, but she pushed me into a wall” you replied.
Loki looked around the room once more and spotted a conjoining room, before he could say anything you stood up, grabbing your shirt and all of your dignity along with you “Goodnight’ you spoke before walking into said room and slamming the door shut.
   this was going to suck
    ☼-☪-☼
   ‘Put her in the chamber!’
   no please..
   ‘Your worthless!’
    no i’m not
you sat up in a cold sweat, more literally then normal. You looked around the room and noticed a cold fog. Turning your head, you look out the window. Pitch black. If you squint hard enough you could see your reflection. Yep white skin You change yourself back.
the door burst open and standing in the doorway is Loki, hair no longer slicked back but disheveled and wearing a simple black shirt and matching pants. he had daggers in his hands, looking ready for a fight “What are you doing?” you ask.
Loki looks confused “Why did you scream? I thought you were being attacked” he spoke, annoyance in his voice. You narrow your eyes and turn to your side, facing away from him “Get out” you spoke, not really wanting to see his face. He had no right to ask that.
   “Pardon-”
“I said get the hell out!”
       ☼-☪-☼
   three days later
you never left the room. To the Grandmaster, you were Loki’s property so he didn’t really care much. The servants came and brought you breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some brought you books to read and others didn’t. You had also been avoiding the god himself.
he had tried starting a conversation with you once or twice, but it never really went to his plan. Mostly ending up with you threatening to kill him or you telling him off. Loki was stain in your life all you wanted was to be rid off him and go back home.
you had just wrapped a towel around your body, hair dripping from being in the bath. As you went to open the door the god was standing just outside the door, holding a towel in his hand. His blue eyes trailed up and down your body. You pushed past him and walked into your room, shutting the door.
Loki felt his body tingle in way it hadn’t before. He exhaled deeply before walking into the bathroom and shutting the door
    ☼-☪-☼
   later that night (again)
you sat up screaming bloody murder as you gripped your head. Instead of nightmare you had a nighterror instead. Your body was thrashing around like someone was attacking, but no one was. Just like last time Loki opened your door, almost breaking it off the hinges.
he looked at your state and practically jumped on your bed. His face made him looked..worried? You back away instinctively “No you can’t touch-” Loki cuts you off by wrapping his arms around you, pulling you into his chest. How- how was this happening. You couldn’t touch anyone before, why now?”
you didn’t notice the cold tears running down your face as Loki rubbed your back in soothing circles “How is this possible? I thought that-” “You can’t touch anyone because of your ability, but...what a i am, what i really am makes me immune to the cold in any form” he explains.
so this is what another's skin felt like. Soft, a little different from yours. You pull away a bit and began to touch different parts of his face. You run a finger along the side of his face, making him inhale sharply “what’re doing?” he asked in a low tone.
“I have never touched another person with my bare hand. Im curious” you say. Loki sighs and lets you continue your weird- whatever this could be called. After a couple minutes you let go of him, wiping your face “Your still a dick for what you did” you say.
Loki sighs, nodding his head ‘I’ve been told, by multiple people. I hope this makes up for it just a little” he says. Hope? You nod once “Yeah, your getting there. Now out antlers i have to sleep” you say, a grin forming on your face. Loki grumbles “That’s just rude”
       ☼-☪-☼
   two weeks later
“I don’t even like parties” you spoke, looking at the words in your book. “You’ve been cooped up in this room for two whole weeks. You need to try and have some fun” Loki insisted. You look up and him and sighed, damn god. “fine, but no promises i’ll be having any fun. I also have nothing to wear”
Loki’s smile turned into a grin “stand up” he instructs. You roll your eyes and place the novel down before standing up from your seat “You better not do anything mischievous Loki” you say and he shrugs his shoulders. In a split second your hair was done and your outfit had changed.
the top part of the dress was a blue and a tad bronze lined leather that connected with some icy blue tool that made the bottom part. You looked, beautiful. “This doesn’t look like Sakaar attire?” you question, looking from the dress to him. Loki nods once, stepping towards you.
“That’s because it isn’t. It’s a tradition asgardian dress” he explains. You hummed in response “Really? I don’t think i do it much justice then” you spoke with a small laugh, turning around to face the large decorative mirror that was behind you.
you look at yourself in the dress, touching your face and squeezing your waist a bit. as you do so, Loki walks forward and stops a couple inches behind you. he leans down so his chin his hovering over your shoulder. You could feel his breath on your neck “I think you look lovely. Now, shall we?”
    ☼-☪-☼
it was a couple hours into the party and Loki was chatting it up with some people. Telling them life stories that he clearly altered to be in his favor while you sat beside him, silent. “And in that moment, i let go” the people around you laughed while you rolled your eyes.
   “Y/n!”
   “Loki!”
you and Loki both turn your heads to the right at the sound of your names being called. Oh my gods. Thor?! You stood up quickly, Loki following you hesitantly “Excuse me for a second”. “Loki, over here!” Thor yells again, catching the attention of a few people.
Loki stood in front of his brother while you were beside Thor in the chair “Shh, Shh. Shut up!” Loki snapped in a hushed tone. “What?” Thor replied in the same hushed tone. “Your alive?” Loki looks his brother up and down while Thor just looked confused “Ah yes of course i’m alive!”
“What’re you doing here?” Loki questions. “What do you mean ‘what am i doing?’ I’m stuck in this stupid chair! Where’s your chair!?” Thor asked, making you stifle a chuckle. “We didn’t get a chair” Loki says, waving his hand towards you.
Thor glances at you for a moment and you give hima half smile before he turns back to his brother. “Well get me out of this one” Thor commands, struggling against the metal clasps that held his arms in place. “I can’t” Loki replies. What? Why couldn’t he help him?
   “Get me out!”
   “I can’t”
   “What?”
Loki points into a random direction “I made friends with this man. he’s called the Grandmaster-” he explains. Oh yeah- the whole loyalty thing. Thor shakes his head “What’re you crazy?!” Thor accuses. You asked yourself that sometimes. “-I’ve gained his favor. The bifrost spat me out here weeks ago”
“He thinks i’m Loki’s property, so yeah your right. Crazy”
where has Thor been these past two and a half weeks? Thor looked extremely confused now “Weeks ago?! I- i just got here” he tries to say. You look up and see the face of the Grandmaster across from you “Oh shit!” you jump, holding onto the glass in your hand.
“What’re we whispering about?” he says with that creepy guard lady behind him, holding the melt stick as he called it. Thor jumps up at the sound of his voice ‘Uh Ah!” he shouts while Loki grabs your arm and pulls you a few steps back from Thor along with him.
“Time works real different around these parts” He starts, turning the records on his dj table? I don’t know. “On any other world i’d be like millions and millions  years old, but here on Sakaar” he finished explaining then just smiled expectantly like he was waiting for someone to say something.
you felt Loki tighten his grip on your arm a bit. What’s got him so tense? Loki opened his mouth to speak, but closed it right after. the Grandmaster waves his hand “In any case you know this uh- this uh. What do you call yourself? Lord of thunder?”
“God of thunder” you and Thor say at the same time. Thor nods towards the Grandmaster “Tell him” he says to Loki. the black haired god begins to laugh nervously “i’ve never met this man in my life” he says, pointing to Thor for a brief moment “Loki!” you say, hitting his shoulder. What a dick.
Loki looked at you with a ‘what’ face. “He’s my brother!”Thor growls, mostly upset because of Loki. “Adopted” Loki interjects, making you hit him again. The Grandmaster looks up for a moment “Is he any kind of a fighter?” he asked. It’s Thor- duh.
Thor begins to laugh irritably “You take this thing out of my neck and i’ll show you” he threatens. You sigh deeply. Men am i right. The Grandmaster laughs along with him “Oh look at that he’s threatening me” he coos like Thor was some sort of baby.
“Hey sparkles-” the Grandmaster starts, making thor struggles against the chair once more “-you want to get back to ass..place. Ass berg-” he says. Oh he did not just say that. “Asgard!” You and Thor shout in unison. Loki gives you another look “Oh shut up your not helping, Loki”
“-any contender who defeats my champion there freedom they shall win” you had heard about the Grandmaster’s contender =, but had never saw him. He was supposedly undefeated, but this is Thor were talking about here. “Fine! Then point me in the direction to whoever's ass i have to kick!”
the Grandmaster smile and waves his fingers at Thor “That’s what i call contender” he says excitedly before lifting up this remot like object “The direction that would be in this way lord” he presses a button and Thor’s chair begins to move away.
“Loki!” Thor shouts. You pull yourself out of Loki’s grip and lift the bottom of your dress off the floor so you could run up to the chair. You face Thor and smile “I’m going to get you out okay?” you say before two guards grab both of your arms. Damn- they had gloves on.
“Remove your arms from Lady Y/n you buffoons!” Thor shouts before he disappears around the corner. You struggle against there grip for a second before managing to rip your arm from one of them. Your skin turned it’s icy white and blue and your pupils vanished.
just as you formed a icicle, someone grabbed your arm. You looked at who it was and saw Loki. “Think for a moment before you kill somebody. Now let’s go” he didn’t give a chance to reply before dragging you out the party hall. What a hypocrite honestly. He killed people all the time.
       ☼-☪-☼
“You are insufferable, you know that!” you shout as Loki closes the door to your shared room “I’m insufferable!? You almost got yourself killed and for what?!” Loki shouts back. “To tell Thor that everything was going to work out. All you did was make it worse Loki. That’s all you ever seem to do!”
Loki’s jaw clenched, his hands tightening into a fist “Don’t talk as if you know me!” he snaps at you. Loki walks up to you and pushes you up against the wall, his hand grabbed both of yours and held them over your head. Kinky- not now, just not now.
“Oh screw you and your I’m misunderstood bullshit! You left Thor hanging out to dry again and in the end of it all he still called out for your name! You know one day Thor is going to give up on you and your going to wish you had at least tried to be a good brother”
Loki was breathing heavily as his blue eyes bore deep within your very soul. He looked at your face, studying every inch you had to offer. In a quick motions he dips down closer, his lips centimeters away from yours. Loki’s face scrunches up. He was debating in his hand. A battle in his own mind if you will.
he backs away from you, letting go off your hands “If you want to talk to my brother, follow me” he says and heads back towards the door. You felt almost disappointed that he didn’t keep going. Was that wrong?
    ☼-☪-☼
in the end you and Loki could not physically find away into the holding room that Thor and the other contenders were in, but Loki said he could create an illusion of you both to talk to him. As long as you got to see Thor “Ready?” Loki asked and you nodded once.
you only blink once and suddenly your in this brown, dirty, circular shaped room. What a mess. “Odin-” you heard someone speak dn turned to your left to see Thor. He was kneeling over some homemade shrine.  “I bid you take your place in the halls of Valhalla-” he spoke.
it was probably a some sort of prayer they used after a loved one has died. “- Where the brave shall live forever. Where thine enemies have been vanquished, Nor shall we mourn but rejoice” this what heartbreaking to hear honestly. Thor was always the toughest guy you knew and now you were witnessing this.
everyone has feelings though. Even witches like Loki
“For those who have died The glorious death” Loki chimed in with Thor. The god of thunder turns around and sits against the wall “Lady Y/n” he nods towards you. You give him a small smile “Hey” you reply. “Hurts doesn’t it, being lied too?” Loki started. Oh for fucks sake.
“Being told your one thing then learning it’s all a fiction” Thor looked at the ground before picking up a rock and tossing it in Loki’s direction. The rock went straight through Loki, making him chuckle lightly “I mean- you didn’t think i really come and see you did you? This place is disgusting” Loki gestures to the floor.
you sigh deeply “There were guards outside- after my stunt at the party. i’m not allowed out anywhere without Loki” you explained “That’s quite alright lady Y/n. I understand. Those men didn’t hurt you, did they?” Thor asks, grabbing another rock from the floor. You shake your head “No, of course not”
“Good” Thor replies, throwing the rock through Loki’s face “One less person i have to kill before we leave this place” he says. Still over protective of you. Some things never change though do they? “Does this mean you don’t want my help?” Loki asked, noticing how Thor only addressed you.
“where did you offer help in any of the words you just spoke?” You question. Loki didn’t reply to you though. Petty bitch. “I couldn’t jeopardize our-” “-Your, don’t pretend to care about lady Y/n” Thor interjected. Loki sighed before continuing. thor had clearly touched a nerve.
“our position with the Grandmaster. Took me time to win his trust. He's a          lunatic, but he can be amenable.” Loki replied. You shake your head “Is everyone amenable to you, Loki?” you ask, tilting your head to the side. Loki glances at you for a moment “No”
Thor lifted another rock from the ground and threw it through Loki’s face “What I'm telling you is, you could join me at the Grandmaster's side. Perhaps, in time, an accident befalls the Grandmaster, and then...” Loki points to his brother mouthing ‘you then you ‘Y/n’ then himself ‘me’
“Oh wow- you really do suck” you say going over to Thor and pointing at a rock “Can you throw that rock for me?” you ask and he simply nods with a smile before picking it up and throwing it at him. You smile lightly. Good friend things. You look at Loki who takes a step forward.
“You're not seriously thinking of going back, are you?“ he asked with a questioning look. “i would” you mumble before stepping backwards. Thor looks like he had just been punched in the face, but had his hands folded casually. Thor was stubborn.
“Our sister destroyed your hammer like a piece of glass.“ Loki says, holding his hands out. “She's stronger than all of us. She's stronger than you“ he adds. No offense, but you definitely could’ve done some damaged if Thor had not shouted your name back at the field and alerted her to you.
“You don't stand a chance. Do you understand what I'm saying to you?” Loki’s tone gets more aggressive while Thor just scowls at him “Loki” you say, trying to get him to shut up. After a couple seconds Loki lets out a bitter laugh “Fine” he says.
“I guess I'll just have to go it alone. Like I've always done.”
Loki’s comment makes Thor smirk. One that Loki notices “Would you say something?” Loki asked. You sigh deeply. Why do you feel as if there was going to be yelling? Anyway- Thor stays silent, looking at the ground for more stones he could throw at Loki.
“Say something!” Loki shouts in a louder tone
and he does “What would you like me to say?” Thor starts. This felt awkward, being there you mean. “You stole the throne, stripped Odin of his power,          stranded him on Earth-” Loki went to say something, but Thor keeps talking “-To die, releasing the goddess of death”
“he didn’t know that would happen Thor-” you say, but are quickly shut up just as Loki was “Have I said enough, or do you do you want me to go further back than the past two days?” Thor asked. You look at Loki who looks like he’s holding back tears at his brother cold stare.
nonetheless, he composes himself “You know, I haven't seen this               Beloved Champion he talks of, but I've heard he's astonishingly savage. I've placed a large wager against you tomorrow. Don't let me down.” he spoke as his illusion starts to vanish. Your time is almost up.
you look at Thor as he lifts a glass bottle from the ground and throws it at the wall where Loki was. “Thor, your going to do great out there. I’ll be watching” you spoke and gave him a small smile. Thor looks at you and nods “Goodbye” you said and just as you blinked you were standing next to Loki.
    ☼-☪-☼
you both walked back to your room in silence. Loki looked awful. Like he wanted to breakdown at any moment. You felt bad for him. He had lost both his parents, just as you had. You could relate to some of his pain. so you should try to comfort him, right?
when the door shut behind you both, you reached up and placed a hand on Loki’s shoulder “Loki- i’m sorry about Odin. I know you say you love him like Thor does, but he had to have meant something to you” you spoke as calmly as you could.
Loki’s body tensed under your touch “I never stopped loving my father” he says, which surprises you “He raised me I was just so angry that they lied about me. I was never truly there child” he spoke, his voice beginning to waver.
“Odin and Frigga took you in as their own. They didn’t care that you weren’t biologically there’s. They gave you a home when no one else did Loki. That’s what being a parent is.” you spoke and left go of his shoulder “You can have some time alone. I’ll be in my room”
you walk past the god and towards your door, “Thank you, Y/n. How did you know what to say?” Loki spoke, making you turn around “Just what i wished someone had told me when avengers came to save me” you shrug and walk into the room, shutting the door.
       ☼-☪-☼
“I can’t believe you put a wager against your brother” You said, walking alongside Loki. wearing another tradition asgardian dress that Loki had picked out for you. It was another icy blue dress that had a soft brown leather as the straps. iIt was flowy and had a slit down the side.
“It was only a joke” He replies, holding your hand as you walked through the crowds of people. The Grandmaster had invited you and Loki to watch Thor’s fight from the ‘Grandmasters box’ stupid bastard and his stupid terms. As you walk, you pass by where the contenders are being held. Thor.
you didn’t have time “Will seen him soon. I can tell your worried about him” Loki spoke, squeezing your hand softly. “Thor was one of the first people to help me when i got out of Hydra. I owe him everything” you say. Loki sighs deeply before you both continue walking.
as you drew closer you were able to hear the cheers and roars of the crowd. jeez it’s just a bunch of idiots fighting- go watch some Tv or something. Suddenly you heard the Grandmaster speak. What a loser this guy was. Thinking that you were just some mans property.
“ow! Look at all of you. What a show, WHAT-A-NIGHT! Who's having fun? Please, I'm your host. Big round of applause for all of our undercard competitors who died so gruesomely. Good sports. What a show! What a night! This is what you've come for and so have I.”
when he finished speaking is when you and Loki entered the very bright room, filled with different people from different worlds. Bruce would have love to see this, sometimes you forget he’s gone. You just hoped that you’d find out what happened to him one day.
Loki leads you  towards the front, skillfully grabbing two drinks and handing one to you. What a gentlemen- wait no. Damnit. “Making his first appearance, though he looks quite promising, got a couple of tricks up his sleeve. I'll say no more, see what you think. Ladies and gentlemen...”
you look down from the glass and see a latch lifting up. That has to be him. “I give to you...Lord of Thunder!” the Grandmaster shouts. You smile as your eyes landed on Thor “Oh my god they cut his hair!” you exclaim “It’s just hair” Loki replies, taking a sip from his drink.
you scoff “Okay, let me cut yours” you say and he glares “I’d rather die” he says and you nod “Told you so” the crowd was booing Thor, along with a couple people next you. “Oh screw yourselves” you grumble under your breath. Loki wraps his free arm around your waist and pulls you flush to his side.
“Try to behave darling, will you?” Loki leans down to whisper into your ear. You feel a tingling feeling in your stomach. Was he using his magic on you. “Yeah yeah, whatever” you huff, earning a smirk from the god holding you “That’s a good girl” he says- and there goes the stomach again.
you both turn back to watch Thor as he walks to the center of the arena. “Watch out for his fingers. They make sparks.” the Grandmaster says, making you roll your eyes at his statement. Thor puts a helmet on his head and pulls the small latch down.
The Grandmasters hologram began to rub his hands together “Okay, this is it. Let's get ready to welcome this guy. Here he comes. He is a creature. What can we say about him? Well, he's unique. There's none like him. I feel a special connection with him.” he gets the crowd riled up.
green bombs of dust or some kind of pigment begin to explode in the sky and over the crowd. “He's undefeated. HE'S THE REIGNING...HE'S THE DEFENDING...Ladies and gentlemen... I give you...” he spoke in broken sentences. Now he was getting you scared.
the door begins to open from the other side. It only happened halfway when it was smashed through by some green, big, angry...Hulk?! You feel as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders “Bruce?” you whisper to yourself, almost dropping the glass in your hand.
Loki on the other hand turned paler then he already was and let go of you “I have to get off this planet” he spoke and turned around to leave the room, but the Grandmaster was right behind him “Hey, hey, hey! Where are you going?” he questions, but Loki has no words. Neither do you.
the Grandmaster leads you both to the long couch and you and Loki sit side by side. You could hear Bruce screaming Hulk into the crowd. What was going on? Thor suddenly turns from the Hulk to where you guys are “Hey! We know each other. He's a friend from work!” then we went to talk to Hulk.
you didn’t notice your hands were shaking as Loki placed his on top of one yours “Are- are you alright?” he asked and you reach up to wipe away a forming tear “I haven’t seen bruce in two years. I thought he was gone- dead” despite Loki being in fear of his life he gave you a smile. “Well, that’s good”
“Loki! Y/n! Look who it is!”
you both look away from each other and look at Thor who was gesturing Hulk to look at Loki. Loki looked like he wanted the world to swallow him up “You’ll be alright. If he does come up here i can protect you. Hulk loves me” you say with a toothy grin.
suddenly Hulk charges at Thor “What is he doing?!” you shout as both Thor and Hulk begin to fight each other. This is not according to plan at all. A couple seconds later it looks like Hulk was about to grab Thor's hand “Oh thank god” you mumble to yourself a little too soon.
Hulk picked up Thor by his leg and through him repeatedly onto the ground before tossing him to the side. Loki shoots up from his seat “Yes! That's how it feels!” he exclaims. Jeez. You stand up and grab his arm. Loki turns to see the Grandmaster staring at him strangely.
“I'm just a huge fan of the sport.” Loki explains and the Grandmaster just laughs. You sit Loki down as well as yourself “Real calm and classy there antlers” you say with a small grin. Loki growls under his breath “Really? How ‘bout you let that green moron smash you into the ground”
you couldn’t help, but laugh “I’m sorry. That sounded so wrong” you say, your mind going to straight to the gutter. Loki looks at you weirdly before cringing “You are a perverted girl” he says. You shrug your shoulders “Yeah whatever. Do something about it” you say jokingly, going back to watching Thor.
you feel Loki’s hand being firmly placed on your thigh, his other hand sliding behind your back to grip your waist “I can show you what i can do about it later if you so desire” error error Y/n.exe has stopped working. You feel that fluttery feeling in your stomach again. Damn god of teasing.
you somehow manage to keep your cool and grinned at him “No offense, your highness. You couldn’t handle me” you say. His brow raises in amusement. No one has ever said such a thing to him. Just as he opens his mouth you see in the corner of your eye the Grandmaster pulling out the chip remote.
he presses the button and Thor falls to the ground. That dirty cheater.
    ☼-☪-☼
   hours later
it was after the fight and you were pacing back and forth in your room while Loki sat on the bed “Will you cut that out?” Loki suggested and your skin change quickly. You form a icicle and throw it towards him. He catches it in his hand swiftly “Do not tell me to calm down! That dirty freak cheated!”
Loki sighs and goes to open his mouth when the door opens. “The Grandmaster has requested your presence Loki of asgard” a guard spoke. Your skin changed back to normal as Loki stood up. You go walk along with him when the guard stops you “Only Loki” he spoke.
you sigh and nod, giving Loki a small smile. “I’ll be here once you get back” you say and he sighs before leaving with the guard. Now, your stuck here. All alone. You go over to the bed and sit down. The sheets were still messed up from where Loki had slept the night before.
why were you thinking about that?
the door flies open, revealing a brown skinned woman with asgardian armor and white markings on her. “Hello Lady Y/n. Thor asked me to come find you. Noe let’s go” she spoke quickly. You got up instantly and walked to her. Wait “Will be we getting Loki?” you ask
the woman looks at you for a moment and nods “Yes- later now lets go princess before i’m late for a meeting with the Grandmaster. I heard you can fight by the way so i got you some good clothes to move around in.” you nod as you both alk out the room
    ☼-☪-☼
the woman, who told you to call her Val had dropped you off at the junkyard, but let you get changed first of course into a black leather warrior outfit. . At first you were confused as why she had dropped you here, but when you saw Thor leaving a quinjet.
as you ran up to him you saw another person leaving. It was Bruce in Tony’s clothes? “Bruce!” you yell. He turns around and looks at you with a confused stare “Y/n? Your taller and older. Wait- Why are you here?!” he questions. You chuckle and look at Thor “It’s a long story, where are we going?”
       ☼-☪-☼
   with Val and Loki
both asgardians had just walked out the Grandmasters hall to find and capture Thor and Hulk. They were both walking fast since Loki said he could get them back in one hour. “What have you done?” Loki accuses only full well she had something to do with the escape.
Val takes takes one look at him and scowls “I don’t answer to you, lackey” she snaps back. Loki stops and grabs her arm “It’s Loki and you will answer to the Grandmaster” he says. Val pushes off his arm and punches him in the nose. Loki stumbles back a bit and pulls out a Sakaarian blade
“Why would you help me brother escape with that green fool?” He questions, pointing the blade at her. Val pulls out a blade of her own “I don’t help anyone” she quips back and the two rush each other. Hitting, kicking, dodging, the whole ordeal. at one point Loki grabbed her arm and saw her mark.
“You're a Valkyrie. I thought the Valkyrie all died gruesome deaths?” he says, knowing it would rile her up and it did. Val escapes from his grip and pushes him against the wall, holding the knife to his throat “Choose your next words wisely” she seethes down at him.
Loki looks up at her, smug “Terribly sorry. Must be a very painful memory...” and puts his hand on her forehead. Val was taken back to the moment the Valkyrie were sent to fight Hela for the thrown. Val watched them all die again as well as her girlfriend.
once she came back she was pushed back onto the floor by Loki. She stands back up quickly and pushes him on the ground, straddling him “You know your majesty, i have some terrible news for you. I went to your little girlfriends room after you left” she started, making Loki’s eyes go wide.
“she was a pretty one i’ll give you that. That was until i slit her throat and watched her bleed out” It was Val’s turn to rile Loki up. “Y-Your lying!” Loki shouts, struggling against her. “Oh really?” she says and reaches into her pocket, pulling out a piece of blue tool from your dress, stained with blood.
Loki felt his heart drop into his stomach, like he wanted to vomit and cry all at the same time “No...’ he mumbles and grabs the tool from her hand. Val looked stunned for a moment before punching his face and knocking him out. She was not expectantly that kind of reaction from him.
    ☼-☪-☼
you, Thor, and Bruce were walking through the crowd of Hulk worshippers basically when Val had found you. She had led you all inside safely. She was a pretty cool gal. You had to get her number after this. Does she have a phone. You all walked down this hall when she stops.
Bruce stopped behind thor and you stopped behind Bruce. “Look, I've spent years in a haze trying to forget my past. Sakaar seemed like the best place to drink and forget and to die one day.” Val spoke, making you frown slightly. Thor nods.
“I was thinking that you drink too much, and that probably was going to kill you.” Thor spoke. Val gave him an annoyed look before walking towards the door “Also, i have a piece offering” she said vaguely before opening the door. Thor walks in first, then Bruce.
Once you walk in you noticed Loki, chained up and hanging his head in shame, he was looking at a piece  of tool that rested on the ground in front of him “Brother?” Thor spoke, crouching down to look at his face “Loki are you alright?” he asked
“she was so much like me you know, we both didn’t know where we belonged. Both too cold and felt like monsters. I had never felt that way about anyone. I don’t think i’ll ever feel that way again. I don’t want too actually, not if it isn’t her” everyone in the room could notice his voice breaking.
just as you were about too console him Val put an arm in front of you and pressed a finger to her mouth. Telling you to shut it basically. You are confused, but nod slowly “Brother. I don’t understand. Who are you talking about? What has made you this upset?” Thor questions.
Loki’s body started to shake as he sobbed “Y/n. That scraper killed her. she took her away from me, now i’m all alone again.” he explains solemnly. Thor looks confused “Loki, lady Y/n is right here” he spoke. Loki lifted his head up and Thor was right. There you were, alive.
Loki didn’t know whether to be relieved or angered, but he stuck with relieved. “Let him out!” you shout, walking over to Loki to pull on the chains. “Y/n i don’t think that’s such a good idea-” Bruce started, but you didn’t care. You got the chains undone and Loki instantly wrapped his arms around you.
“Hey, i’m here” you say as he holds onto tightly, almost like you would disappear if he let you go “I know” he replies before pulling away. You look around and notice everyone staring at you “What?” Loki spots Bruce and tilts his head “Hello Bruce” he spoke, standing up from the chair.
Bruce looks at him “So, last time i saw you, you were trying to kill everybody. Where are you at these days?” he questions. Loki looked at you then Val who was grabbing something out the closet “It varies from moment to moment” he spoke before completely ignoring him.
Loki studies your face “I’m alive Loki” you say to reassure him and he sighs “i know, just wan’t to keep it that way” he says. You muster up a smile “That is the nicest thing you have said to me since we got here” you admit. He rolls his eyes and looks down for a moment then back at you
“I need to tell you something-”
“Loki come here!” Thor says, waving at him from the otherside of the room. Loki sighs and look at you, going to say something “It’s okay. we can talk later” you reassure him and he smiles.
    ☼-☪-☼
you, Loki, and Thor were assigned to get a ship for all of you to leave on, but throughout the whole time you were fighting to get there Loki and Thor were talking about leaving each other or staying together. You wished you stayed with Bruce and Val.
now you were in a elevator, with you standing in front of the two, skin icy white and blue and no pupils. “Here's the thing. I'm probably better off staying here on Sakaar.” Loki says. You turn around and look at him with wide eyes “Loki-” you say, but Thor interrupts “That's exactly what I was thinking.”
okay what? “Thor-” you say this time, but the same thing happens. “Did you just agree with me?” Loki asked, stunned. Thor shrugs “Come on, this place is perfect for you. It's savage, chaotic, lawless. Brother, you're going to do great here.” Thor says, glancing at him once- ouch.
Loki looks forward and you wished you hadn’t come at all “Do you truly think so little of me?” Loki questions. Thor pauses for a moment before looking at his brother. “ Loki, I thought the world of you. I thought we were gonna fight side by side forever. But, at the end of the day, you're you, I'm me” he starts.
you watch as Loki’s face changes from different emotions. To hope, then sorrow. “I don't know, maybe there's still good in you-” Thor says and gestures to you “-but let's be honest, our paths diverged a long time ago.” he finished. You stepped aside Loki and reached down to grab his hand.
Loki sighs and looks at his brother one last time “Yeah... It's probably for the best that we never see one another again.” he replies, nodding his head. You look down. Stupid boys. “That's what you always wanted.” Thor says and pats his brother on the back, you noticed he place the chip on his back.
strange, but you trust Thor’s judgement. Doesn’t mean you weren’t going to swipe the remote off of him though.
Loki looks away slowly letting go of your hand. It was silence for a few moments. Awkward silence filled with tension and emotion. Jumping through the glass and falling to your death didn’t really look so bad right now “Hey, let’s do get help” Thor pipes up.
“What?” Loki asked, turning to look at Thor again
   “What’s get help?-”
“Get help” Thor repeats with a cheery smile on his face.
“Oh come on, you love it”
   “No i hate it
“It’s great. It works every time”
   “Its humiliating”
“Do you have a better plan?”
you got to speak when they just start talking again “No” Loki replies and Thor just looks back forward with a smile “Were doing it” he says and Loki does the same “We are not doing get help” Loki says, thinking that’s the end of it. You look at both of them and groan “I hate both of you”
    ☼-☪-☼
as the elevator door opens, you are stuck clinging onto the ceiling. You wait a couple of seconds “Alright. Come down” Thor calls and you jump down from the bar “Get help huh?” you chuckle, looking at Loki who turns and glares at you. You smile and walk behind them.
“Now which one is the ship she told us to get?” Thor asked. Loki pointed at a bright orange ship “The Commodore” he says. You all begin to walk.  A second later he walks away, grabbing your arm to follow along with him and leaving a illusion walking alongside Thor. What?
“Though I feel it won't make much of a difference” the illusion spoke. Thor sighs “Oh Loki” and turns to see you and Loki at the control panel “I know I've betrayed you many times before, but this time it's truly nothing personal. The reward for\ your capture will set Y/n and i up nicely.”
Y/n what now? Loki presses a button on the panel and the places starts to go off “Loki, you didn’t” you gasp as you rip your arm from him. “Never one for sentiment, were you?” Thor asks. Loki grinned “Easier to let it burn.” he replies in a low tone.
Thor reaches into his pocket as his eyes go wide. You slowly back away from Loki “Y/n-” “You self centered prick!” you snapped, pulling the remote out of your pocket. His face drops and he takes a step forward “Y/n, please-” he tries to explain, but you had already made up your mind. “No!” you shout.
Loki goes to speak again, but you press the button, watching as he drops to the floor. Thor walks past you and towards Loki “Oh that looks painful” Thor mumbles. You follow after him, walking much slower. Thor kneels down beside his brother.
“Oh brother, you're becoming predictable. I trust you, you betray me. Round and round in circles we go.” Thor speaks, looking down at Loki. See, Loki, life is about, it's about growth. It's about change, but you seem to just wanna stay the same.”
it hurt to see Loki that way, but in the end if he could betray Thor so easily. he’d do it to you too and no amount of love could change that “I guess what I'm trying to say is that you'll always be the God of Mischief, but you could be more.” Thor sighed and stood up “I’ll start the ship” and with that, he left.
you look at Thor then Loki. You go to where Thor was kneeling and do the same “You almost fooled me i’ll give you that. The whole touch thing and flirty comments. It almost made me think you felt the same. What tied it in was the tears.” you say, watching as he turned to look at you, pain on his face.
“Maybe you do care about me, but in the end you would betray anyone to save your own skin Loki. Thor’s right, you could be so much more. To him, the world...to me” You looked up to stop the tears forming in your eyes to fall down your face. You quickly wipe them and look back down.
“Thank you for being my first hug” You stand up and throw the remote a few feet away from him. “and my last” and with that you turned away leaving Loki on Sakaar along with any feelings you had for him.
    ☼-☪-☼
after fighting your way out of Sakaar on a orgy ship you passed out. Bruce was the first to wake, then Val and Thor with you being the last “I never thought i’d be back here” Val spoke. You and Bruce undo your seatbelts and stand behind Thor and Val.
   Asgard.
“Though it be a lot nicer” Bruce spoke up. “Bruce- dude” you say, shaking your head. He noticed all of your collective disappointed stares and sputtered “Not- noth that it’s not nice- it’s just- it’s just on fire” well he was right about that. You assumed it was Hela’s doing.
the dashboard started going off and Val  looked at it “Here, up in the mountains. heat signatures, people clustered together. Hela’s coming for them” she explained, pointing at the 3D diagram. You sigh as you power up your abilities, Bruce giving you a odd stare. Guess he’s not used to it.
“Okay, drop me off at the palace and i'll draw her away.” Thor spoke up. “Thor she destroyed your hammer like nothing. You can’t do this alone!” you protest. Thor shakes his head and looks back at you, “Then you’ll come with me Lady Y/n” he says “And get yourselves killed?” Val questions
“The people trapped down there are all that matters. While we're dealing with Hela, I need you two to help get everyone off Asgard.” Thor instrucks. Bruce pokes his head in between and looks at both of them “and how the hell are we supposed to do that?”
“I have a man on the ground”
    ☼-☪-☼
Thor looked up at Val as her and Bruce flew away. Hm, strange.
once you two got to the castle, you noticed rumble all over the floor, even a piece with Thor’s face on it. Thor looks up at the ceiling and you follow suit. What you see in horrific. Pictures of Odin and Hela destroying worlds.
you look over at Thor and notice his grim face “Thor? Are you okay” you say. Thor sighs and nods “Wait behind a pillar. Hela should be here soon” he says and you nod, walking away to find a hiding spot.
Thor sat in the throne and began to band Odin’s scepter on the floor, causing loud booms to flow throughout the castle. Only seconds later did you here Hela’s heels down the hallway.
   she was here
“sister” Thor says. You couldn’t see them, but you could hear them. “Your still alive” she says back, soundly somewhat surprised. “ I love what you've done with the place. Redecorating, I see.” Thor spoke. Was this a time to be making jokes??
“It seems our father's solution to every problem was to cover it up.” Hela snarls at him. Okay she’s getting upset. “Or to cast it out. He told you you were worthy.   He said the same thing to me.” Thor responds, solem in his tone. You could hear the bitterness in his tone
“You see, you never knew him, not at\ his best.” Hela sighs like it’s a fond memory to look back on ”Odin and I drowned entire civilizations in blood and tears. Where do you think all this gold came from? And then one day he  decided to become a benevolent king.”
Hela’s voice becomes more sour “To foster peace, to protect life.” she starts “To have you” ouch- that has gotta sting. “ I understand why you're angry. and you are my sister, and technically have a claim to the throne. And believe me, I would love for  someone else to rule. But it can't be you. You're just the worst.”
Thor no- you hear the swish noise like the last time she put on her crown “Okay, get up. You're in my seat.” she said, done playing games with Thor. clearly. “You know, Father once told me that a wise king never seeks out war” he says, you could hear his heavy footsteps.
“But must always be ready for it.” Hela replies, drawing closer
   that’s your cue
you jump down and ice the floor just as Thor jumps in the air. Hela goes to throw a blade at him, but it ends up missing because she couldn’t balance. her head snaps in your direction and she snarls “You again?!” she shouts, charging towards you.
pressing your palms together and pull them out quickly, forming a silver sword with a blue base and handle. You lift your sword, but Thor hits her away with the scepter. Hela is knocked back, but for only a moment as she gets up and charges at Thor.
she manages to knock the scepter away pin Thor against the wall “Here's the difference between us. I'm Odin's firstborn, the rightful heir, the savior of Asgard.” she spoke before throwing Thor to the floor “And you're nothing.” You run up at her and hit her away from Thor.
“and your a bitch!” you yelled. Now you two her going hand to hand “Who are you? Your not asgardian is that for sure, but i sense a power off you stronger then any human could bare” she spoke, kicking you to the ground “You have the power of a infinity stone. Now that’s interesting darling”
Hela forms a blade “Too bad that power will die with you” she smiles wickedly as she goes to plunge it into your stomach, but Thor tackles her to the ground. “Y/n leave now!” Thor shouts, as Hela knocks him in the face “But what about you!” you shout, forming a icicle in your hand to throw at her.
“This is my fight and i will not lose you. Now go!” he shouts just as Hela sliced his eye. You almost choked before you got yourself together and ran and ran and ran. “Thor i hope you know what your doing”
    ☼-☪-☼
as soon you headed out the castle, you used a burst of cold fog to send you into the sky. The bifrost! it’s being attacked by Hela’s knights and a large wolf. That’s where to go you guess and you another burst to send you towards the bridge.
the wolf was running towards a bunch of unarmed asgardians. You dropped onto the bifrost just as bruce came flying out the ship and landing face first “Bruce! This is why i said to keep your seatbelt on!” you shout. he’s lucky he’s mutated or he’d be dead.
the wolf sniffed Bruce for a few seconds before running your direction again. You form a blade and have it sending his way, but he wasn’t stopping. You look over and see a dark skinned man with long hair, Heimdall holding a sword “Nice to meet you i guess?” you spoke with nervous laughter.
he looked your way and nodded “You too Lady Y/n” wait- how did he know your name. Nevermind that- both you and Heimdall hold your swords in ready position. The wolf is inches away when it suddenly stopped? You watch as it’s pull back and thrown to the other side.
   Hulk!
“Yes!” you shout, throwing your arms in the air. Hulk lets out a thunderous roar, hitting his chest. The wolf comes after him and they both fall off the bifrost. One problem down, two more to go. More knights begin to run towards the group and you and hemdall began to fight them off.
you are so telling Tony about this!
Heimdall gets hit in the knee and you rush over to help him when a rock guy come out of nowhere and blasts the knight into nothing. Wait- wasn’t this Thor’s friend- from back on Sakaar? “Hey man and woman. I'm Korg. This is Miek.” he introduces himself as a purple worm robot appears.
you might need therapy after this one actually “We're going to jump on that spaceship and get out of here. Want to come?” he asked. He was rather polite. You smile lightly “We’d love too Korg, just after we kill these things.” You reply. You suddenly hear something off in the distance
you and Heimdall turn to see a figure amongst the mist. Please don’t be Hela, please do not be Hela! Once the figure came to view you gasped. “Your saviour is here!” Loki shouts, standing on top of the landing pad. What a narcissist! A narcissist that you were in love with, but technicalities don’t count.
as the ship lands people of asgard begin to board “Did you miss me?” he says, you smile lightly. he had come back to save his people “Now everyone on the ship!” he commands and asgardians begin to flood in. Loki pushed through the people and made his way towards you and Heimdall.
“Welcome back. I saw you coming” Heimdall speaks. Loki purses his lips together and nods “Course you did” he says and looks at you “Surprised to see me, darling?” he says with a small smirk. You shake your head slowly with a smile “I was hoping you do the right thing. Your just boosting my ego”
Loki grinned at you for a moment before pull out two asgardian blades “Will talk more in a bit” he sends you a wink as the Knights charge you all. You fly into the air and slam into the ground, causing a cold breeze to freeze about a dozen. You watch as they crumble and fall apart.
“Didn’t know i could do that” you shrug and pull out your sword once again. The bright sky turned a dark grey as electricity struck the castle, causing a big explosion “Yes! Thor!” you shout. “Hopefully it killed that bitch, no offense since she is your sister and all” you say to Loki.
he shrugs and slices a Knight in half “Unrelated note. You look very sexy while fighting” he smirks. You shake your head as your form multiple blades and send them at the Knights behind him. Loki goes wide eyed and watch about seven fall to the ground
“Me and you definitely need to talk later” his voice came out in a growl, which honestly sent shivers up your spine. You let out a chuckle as you watch Thor crash onto the bifrost “Why not now? Your brother seems to be keeping most of their attention”
Loki raises a brow “You wan’t me to confess my undying love for you in the middle of war?” he questions. Well that was blunt. “You do have a thing for undying don’t you? Anyway, just tell me now. one of us may not live till the end of this war” you spoke.
you notice Loki’s face change to a grim one “Your not dying on me, i won’t allow it” he said, almost as it was a command. “Loki- be realistic. Now shut up and tell me” you say as you stab through a Knight “Okay- from the moment i laid eyes on you, i could tell you were like me” he says.
“How so?” you question. “You question who you are and wonder if you belong anywhere. You think of yourself as a monster just as i do to my Jotun side. I wont ever question you and we can belong to each other. I do not see you as a monster Y/n. I see you as a goddess”
wow- he could sure smooth talk a gal into anything. Jokes aside his words meant everything to you, he meant everything to you. You use your ice to put up a bubble around the both of you. Loki looks confused for a moment before turning to look at you.
“Just say you love me Loki” you chuckle. He smiles slightly and grabs your hands “Y/n, i am in love with you. I think that’s better” he quipped back. you both laugh for a moment “Do asgardians use the term boyfriend and girlfriend?” you say.
Loki shakes his head “We like to use more gender inclusive terms. So, Y/n would you like to be my forever and i yours?” you could have passed out right then and there. Also- how was asgard more woke then earth? That’s some bullshit right there.
you break away from your thoughts and nod “of course i do” you say. Loki is unable to control his smile as he dips his head down. He was leaning when Boom! the bubble is destroyed. You smile and pull away “i guess you have to wait my prince” you tease, forming your sword again.
you could tell you touched a nerve because Loki squirmed a bit “Your such a vixen, darling. I can’t wait to have you all alone” he spoke in a low tone. You take a deep breath and try to compose yourself, but the thought of you and Loki- alone. It just took over your mind.
“Can this fucking shit be over with! Hurry it the hell up Thor!” you shout as you jab your sword through two Knights and push them off the bifrost. Loki’s helmet fell as he was fighting one. You run and slide across the bifrost to grab it. Ha antlers- not right now!
Once you do you chuck it at Loki who uses it to knock the Knight of his feet and push a sword through its stomach. Loki looks up at you and you grin at him “Teamwork, my prince” you say before bursting into the air “Stop calling that in public!” he yells.
Thor comes walking up too Loki, both breathing heavily. You drop down beside them “Your late” Thor says and Loki sighs “Your missing an eye” he replies back. Huh? You look at Thor and wave your hand over it, causing a cooling effect for him “Hopefully it’s stops the throbbing” you say.
Thor nods and gives you a tired smile as Val walks past you three “This isn’t over” she breathes out. Well- she’s not wrong on that one. All four of you walk together. You all stop to catch your breath “I think we should disband the Revengers.” Thor spoke.
“Good. It was a shit idea” you comment, making Val stifle laughter. “Hit her with a lightning blast.” Loki suggests “we already did that and she rose from the dead still” you say. Thor looks at his brother in disbelief- he did just like shoot her into the sky and she’s walking.
“I just hit her with the biggest lightning blast in the history of lightning. It did nothing.” Thor gave his brother a know it all look. You all looked forward as Hela stalked towards you all “She is so fucking creepy” you say, forming a couple blades.
Val nods in agreement “We need to hold her off until everybody's on board.” she instructs. You all nod. You really didn’t want to fight this deer looking bitch. Antlers just run in the fucking family at this point. You stretch your back a bit. Your positive you have scoliosis after all this.
Thor shakes his head “It won't end there. The longer Hela's on Asgard the more powerful she grows. She'll hunt us down. We need to stop her here and now.” he says. “If she’s growing more powerful from just being here then how do we stop her” you look at Thor.
Val nods along with you “She’s right, so what do we so?” she says, putting an emphasis on the world ‘what’ . Loki pauses and looks at Thor “I’m not doing get help” okay that was funny, no laughing right now though. Thor steps forward and glares at Hela before looking back at the ship of people boarding.
he’s going to give a speech isn’t he?
“Asgard's not a place, it's a people.-” there it is “-This was never about stopping Ragnarok...it was about causing Ragnarok.” he says, turning his attention towards Loki. “What’s Ragnarok?” you ask, expectanting no answer, but hey gotta love Val
“It’s this big fiery demon that was literally made to destroy Asgard and everyone on it” she explains. At that moment you honestly thought about marrying her “Wait- You want to send a demon to destroy Asgard? Shit-” you say.
Thor walks over to Loki and places a hand on his shoulder “Go to the vault. Surtur's crown. It's the only way.” he says. Loki fights against himself for a moment before nodding “Bold move, brother. Even for me.” he admits before walking over to you.
“I’ll see you soon, darling” he says with a small smile. “Well aren’t going to kiss me then?” you question, his smile turning into a grin “No..i rather give you something to look forward too” he says before running off. What a dick. You look back towards Hela “Shall we?” Thor asked the both you and Val.
Val looks at Thor and smiles lightly “After you” she says. Thor jumps into the air and destroys two of Hela’s blades. Hela kicks throw out the way as Val charged at her, but she ended being thrown too. Your turn. You burst into the air and throw four blades at her. She dodges them all and sends you away with Val.
Thor picks up a Knights discarded sword and tries to plunge in into Hela, but she dodges that too. Thor turns to Heimdall and shouts “Go! Go now!” and Heimdall gets onto the ship. Hela throws a spear at him and it jabs right through Thor’s shoulder.
the ship starts to lift into the air and Hela notices. She uses big spikes from the ground and shoots them in, keeping the ship in place “I’ll handle that. You two keep her busy!” you shout and fly into the air. How were you going to do this? You watch as Knights begin to crawl the spikes and up towards the asgardians.
you had to make a move now.
just as your about to land you hear..gunshots?! Since when her guns on Asgard? Just as you got close enough a man holding to large guns jump off of the ship and onto the bifrost, breaking the spike in the process. He lands on the bifrost and you jump down next to him.
“What’s your name? Weren’t you working for Hela?” you question suspiciously. The man looks ashamed “My name is Skurge. Yes i did work for Hela temporarily, but i know now that she is not a true queen and i wan’t to make it right” he confesses.
you smile and nod at him “Good for you dude. Now prove it!” you shout and charge into battle. You love a good redemption ark. You and your new friend Skurge fight off the Knights. “Hela!” he shouts, catching the goddess’s attention. Well fuck.
as you two fought off the last one Hela sent a blade in Skurge’s direction. You didn’t think. You should have thought before you acted, but you didn’t. You were just too nice to strangers. You jump in front of Skurge and catch the blade in your back, causing you to gasp out.
skurge looks at you in shock as you slowly drop to the floor. From a distance Thor and Val watch in horror as there comrade is smite down. “No!” Thor screamed, lighting bursting in every direction “Hela enough!” he shouts, standing up “if you want Asgard. It’s yours”
Skurge moves you and pulls the blade from your back. Your vision became spotty “Loki?” you murmur as you look up “i’m so sorry” Skurge cried. Hela looked towards Thor “Whatever game you're playing, it won't work. You can't defeat me.” Hela says with a evil grin.
Skurge watched the life drain from your body as it turned to ice. A statue of who you used to be cold and frozen over. “I’m so sorry ma’am” he breathes out as he touches your face. He felt so guilty. It should have been him is what he kept thinking over and over again.
suddenly the Sakaar ship lands next to Skurge and Loki jumps out. His whole world came crashing down once he saw you. A frozen corpse. “She saved him so i stayed with her” skurge explains. Loki lifts a hand and waves him away, which is what Skurge does so.
Loki drops to his knees and touched your frozen skin “Even in death you are beautiful my love. I should have kissed you when you asked me too, but i just had to be cheeky” he says, tears forming down his face and falling onto your frozen body.
“No one can ever match your beauty, your skill, or your big heart and i will never love again. You taught me what it’s like to love and to be loved and i- i-” Loki broke down and let his tears fall like a waterfall. He was alone again. Now he would have to live his miserable life without you
    ☼-☪-☼
you sat up, breathing heavily. You were in a castle. Thor’s castle. How? Where’s Hela? Where’s Loki. You push yourself off the floor instantly and look around. “You must be terribly confused” you heard a woman speak. You turn around and see a older woman with light auburn hair.
“Who are you and where is everyone?” you snap at her, but she just smiles “My name is Frigga dear” she spoke kindly. You look at her in horror “You’re Loki and Thor’s mother- but....your dead. That means that i’m-” you almost gag on your own words.
“i’m afraid so dear” she speaks and gives you a sad smile. “No! I have to get back! Loki is expecting me to be there. I have to help stop Hela!” you say. This couldn’t be happening “Ragnarok has already begun and Asgard is to fall any moment. Don’t you want to rest?”
your whole life has been nothing but pain and hard work. You had never ‘rested’ a day in your life. As much as it sounded like a treat, you still had responsibilities “No. I chose to stay and fight Hela because Thor is my friend and i’m not giving up on him or Loki, Val, Bruce or the asgardians.
Frigga gives you a proud smile “That’s what i wanted you to say. I’ll bring you back” she says and rolls up her sleeves “You have to do something for me though” she spoke. You stepped towards her “Anything” he say hastily “Marry my son. Loki deserves it more then ever and so do you”
you give your future mother in law a smile “Of course. How are you going to bring me back anyway?” you question. Frigga grans both your hands and smiles “Ancient magic that is far to complex. Now when i bring you back it will be with an asgardian soul” she says. You looked confused.
   “What does that mean?”
“It means you’ll be an asgardian along with your abilities.”
you smile lightly. You could live as long as Loki now and truly be together forever. “Okay, i’m ready” you say and she nods “Tell my sons that i love him and tell Loki that choosing to be his mother was one of the best days of my life and Thor...that he doesn’t have to rule Asgard to be a great leader.”
you nod, locking the words into your memory. Frigga starts mumbling a spell and you feel your body become lighter and lighter until you feel like you pass out.
    ☼-☪-☼
Loki lifts his head up from your body as it starts to defrost. His eyes go wide as underneath the ice is your beautiful face. Your eyes shoot open and you fly into the sky. Your whole body emitting a white and blue aura. You flew towards Thor, Val and Hela.
Thor puts his hands on his hips and points behind him “No i know, but he can” he says and Surtur comes crashing through the castle. As Hela stares at her downfall Val takes the opportunity to pierce her sword through Hela’s chest. Your form an ice spear and launch yourself down, stabbing it straight through her.
Thor sends and burst of electricity and you back away, slowly landing on the bifrost. It was over. Hela was doen for and you wanted to leave this retched planet.
    ☼-☪-☼
you walk through the ship until you find Thor and Loki in one room. Loki was holding a cap to a liquor bottle. “Hello boys” you spoke and they both turn to look at you “Lady Y/n, the girl who cheated death! No wonder you and Loki are perfect for each other” Thor announced, bowing at you.
you smiled and walked over to a loveseat, Loki following suit and sitting next to you “Yeah uh- i didn’t cheat anything. I actually died” You said “But how, your right here?” Loki says, grabbing your hand “I came back with a little help of a certain someone” you say.
Thor walks over and sits down across from you two “Who?” he questions and take a sip of his drink “Frigga” you said, making the brothers look at you in shock “Mother, how?” Loki asked. “I woke up in the castle and she was there. She said she could bring me back and gave me a few things to say”
both boys inched closer “She said she loves you both and Thor, you don’t have to rule asgard if it isn’t what you wan’t. Your still a great man and Loki” you turn your body to face your forever “one of the best days of Frigga life was choosing to be your mother and love you like her own blood”
Loki’s face said just about enough as well as Thor’s. They both looked at there laps, smiling to themselves. “I’m also asgardian now” you say, grabbing a drink from the table. Thor drops his glass on the floor, smashing it into tiny pieces. That was a nice cup.
   “What!?”  they both shout.
    ☼-☪-☼
Loki had found you both a room on the ship with a perfect view of the unknown outside. You were currently looking through it now, thinking. A pair of arms wrap around you from behind “I still owe you a kiss” Loki breathes out. You smile brightly and turn around in his hold, facing him.
“I believe you do...my prince” You say at the end just to tease him. Loki growls under his breath before pressing his lips to yours for a hungry kiss while his hands pulled you flush against him. You thought your first kiss would be sweet and short, but Loki’s was needy and passionate.
you both pulled at each others clothing, wanting it off but not having the strength to pull away and do so. After a minute of two Loki pulls away “I’ve been wanting to do that for weeks” he admits, making you chuckle. “Good thing you have me all night then, my forever. i love you Loki of asgard”
Loki grins at your words and kisses your forehead “i love you as well, Y/n, my forever”
    ☼-☪-☼
Kody- I want no one to talk about how long it is, it hurts to even mention.

Only One Choice, Chapter 13
Read it here on AO3 / Tagging @today-in-fic
“Explain again why you’re doing this to yourself, Mulder?” Byers asks with a pained look of concern.
He’s sifting through his closet, deciding what would be appropriately friendly for his outing with Scully. What kind of outfit says “I have no intention of trying to seduce you,” but also doesn’t leave him looking unworthy of seduction?
“I wish I knew, Byers,” he says as he pulls out his Greys jersey. Sports attire is very casual, but Val had once told him that he was devastatingly sexy in this jersey, so he tugs it off the hanger and puts it on over his white T-shirt. “I guess the idea of never seeing her again is even worse than being around her and knowing we’ll never be more than friends.”
Byers shakes his head slowly. “You’re a glutton for punishment, Mulder. Are you sure you aren’t secretly holding out hope that you can steal her away?”
Mulder buttons up the jersey and considers the question, his mouth quirked to the side. “I mean, I’m not actively trying to do anything, she’s way too smart for that and she’d see right through it. But the hope is there, sure.”
Byers nods sadly. “Well, good luck. Here are the keys, by the way.” He pulls a small key ring from his pocket and hands it to Mulder, who deposits it into his jeans pocket.
“Thanks, Byers, I appreciate the favor. I owe you one,” he says, clapping the man on the back.
After Byers is gone he brushes his teeth, considers and then decides against pounding a beer to calm his nerves, then says goodbye to Priscilla and heads to the Hoover building.
Scully is early, leaning against the passenger side door of her car when he pulls into the lot. He lets out a pained moan when he sees her, clad in flared jeans and a peasant-style flowered top that is cinched under her breasts. While he knows that realistically no human is perfect, Scully is about as close as it gets. He tries not to imagine what she’s got on under there, lest he embarrass himself.
He pulls up beside her and she opens the door, smiling at him shyly as she lowers herself into the passenger seat.
“Hi,” she says, and just the greeting makes his heart ache.
“Hey,” he returns with what he hopes is a casual, friendly smile. Do not leer at her. Do not gaze. He’s been giving himself frequent reminders.
“So, what do you have planned?” she asks as she pulls the seatbelt across her lap.
Mulder smirks in reply, backing out of the lot. “All in good time,” he says, and she gives him an appraising look.
“I’m not even sure why I’m instilling so much trust in you here, Mulder. Don’t push it,” she says with a playful tone, though it’s clear there’s some truth to the statement.
“Okay, okay, I’ll give you the preliminary details,” He acquiesces. “First we’re going to The Queen Vic, which has the best fish and chips in DC, in my humble opinion. Have you been there?”
She shakes her head.
“Perfect. Then we’ll head down to the wharf and get some ice cream.” He suddenly wonders if he’s made incorrect assumptions about what she likes, and casts her a concerned glance at a stoplight. “Do you like ice cream?”
She looks at him like he has three heads. “Who doesn’t like ice cream?”
He feels a little wave of relief. “I’m sure there’s someone out there who doesn’t like ice cream,” he replies, “but frankly, whoever they are, I have no interest in knowing them.”
She chuckles and there it is again, that ache in his chest. He wonders if it will fade over time.
The Queen Vic isn’t very busy just yet, given that they’re having an early dinner. They are seated at a small, dimly lit booth and each order a beer, fish and chips. Scully opts for an IPA and he feels a retroactive flush of embarrassment at the beer he served her, now knowing what her tastes are. She’s looking around, taking in the ambiance and British paraphernalia papering the walls, and he is looking at her. The cut of her top reveals the soft swell of her breasts, pale and inviting. Even her neck is beautiful, smooth and long and god, he wants to kiss it. Has he ever been taken with someone’s jawline before? Well he has now. Devastatingly beautiful, she is. Ache. Ache. Ache.
She’s looking at him now, and he smiles guiltily, having been caught. Fuck. He promised himself he wouldn’t do that. She bites her lip and fiddles with the salt shaker as though she’s not entirely sure what function it serves. What would a friend do? What would a friend ask? He needs to act like a friend, if he wants to be one.
“So, how’s wedding planning going?” he asks, the words feeling sour in his mouth.
She gives him a quizzical expression. “It’s okay. Fine, I guess.”
He nods. “And how’s Ethan?”
Her eyebrows furrow. “Um...fine. He’s fine. Mulder...why are you asking me about that? About the wedding, and Ethan?”
He dips his chin a bit, giving the pepper shaker a similar assessment. “I guess I just figured if we’re friends, a friend would ask about things like that?” He chances a glance at her and her expression is sympathetic, perhaps even pitying.
“You don’t need to do that, Mulder. We don’t have to talk about my relationship to be friends.” She’s running her finger over the condensation on the side of her glass, and he finds it disturbingly arousing.
“Fair enough, how’s work? Is that a better topic?” He is rewarded with a smile. My god that smile. She could melt permafrost with that smile.
“Work is great, no complaints,” she says coolly, an apparently genuine answer.
They drink, and eat, and talk. They talk about why she loves teaching, and how she got into pathology. He shares a bit about his methods for starting and then adjusting a criminal profile. They talk about med school, and his time at Oxford. He tells her about Phoebe and she admits a proclivity towards dating older men, with the exception of Ethan. It is so easy between them, and so right. He wants to scoop her up and steal her away in his car. Take her to a faraway place where there is no Ethan, where they can see this thing through. He notices how she often tries to hide her smiles, and the major role her eyebrows play in her facial expressions. She has a little mole above her lip that she’s attempted to cover with makeup, and her fingernails are perfectly manicured, like she has them professionally done. He wonders if she has tattoos, or piercings. If her bellybutton is an innie or an outie. If she prefers breakfast or dinner. If she likes morning sex. If she trims her pubic hair or takes it all off. He wants to know her, every bit. But he can’t. He never will. It hurts to think about it.
He drives them down to the wharf and they get ice cream cones from a stand near the water; she picks cookies and cream and he opts for rocky road. The evening is warm but not uncomfortable, the sun holding steady as it makes its descent towards the horizon. These are the dog days of summer, the daylight stretching well into the evening. No cover of darkness for a lover’s confession, not that he has any business making one. Friends meeting in daylight, above board. Never anything more.
They walk along the boardwalk, continuing their conversation between sweet licks, and he avoids watching her, but not entirely successfully. He must have been putting too much effort towards not staring and too little towards rotating his cone, because suddenly his ice cream flops over the side of its perch and lands on the ground with an audible smack.
He stops walking and stares at the now empty cone in his hand for a beat, and then he hears her giggling. When he looks over to her, she has her hand firmly planted over her mouth while she struggles to contain her laughter, the titters shaking her shoulders gently. The resulting swell of affection is overwhelming.
“You think that’s funny, huh?” he says dryly, and she works even harder to stop laughing, her face contorting into a grimace as tears pool in her eyes, shaking her head as though she could possibly deny her amusement.
He chucks his cone into a nearby trash can, then approaches her.
“Looks like you’ll have to share yours with me,” he says, moving his hand as though to take her ice cream, and she pulls it away with an open-mouthed expression of shock.
“Get out of here, it’s not my fault you licked yours right off the cone,” she says, wiping at her eyes with her free hand.
“Come on, Scully, friends share, don’t they?” he teases, maneuvering around to where she’s moved her arm, swiping at it playfully.
“Mulder, knock it off,” she replies, still smiling, and they are now moving in circles, him towards her ice cream while she artfully moves it out of his grasp.
Suddenly he swoops behind her, his long arms circling her waist and pulling her flush against him, pinning her stationary while he wraps his hand around her wrist and brings her ice cream cone to his own mouth. She shrieks in protest as he steals a big bite, and once he’s accomplished his goal, he becomes aware of their proximity. The feel of her pressed against him, the taper of her waist under his forearm, the smell of her shampoo in his nose. He grips her tighter, ever so briefly, but then releases her suddenly. He has no right. He crossed a line. She steps forward slowly, turning to look at him with pink cheeks.
“Sorry,” he says sheepishly, his arms dropping to his sides, woefully empty. Missing her already.
She shakes her head gently. “It’s okay,” she says, and they continue walking.
As they approach his car, the sun is just beginning to kiss the horizon. It’s nearly 8:30.
“This was really fun, Mulder, thank you,” she says with a shy smile, and he grins at the affirmation.
“There is one more thing I had planned, Scully, unless you have to get home right away,” he says cautiously, and she regards him with surprise, but not unpleasantly so.
“I don’t know, let me call my mother and see if I can stay out past curfew,” she jokes, but then adds “I suppose I’m curious to see what else you’ve got up your sleeve.”
“Great, let’s go,” he replies as he opens the car door for her.
———
She watches streetlights racing past as Mulder drives them to their final destination and feels a swell of guilt for how wonderful this night has been, then tries to talk herself out of it. She’s done nothing wrong, nothing inappropriate. She’s allowed to have dinner and ice cream with a man who is not her fiancé; he doesn’t own her. Given, the moment with the ice cream cone was a bit more flirtatious than might be ideal, but they were caught up in the moment. She tries not to remember the feel of his compact body pushed against her back, the strength of his arm around her waist. Tries not to imagine how it would feel to have him hold her like that without their clothes on. She closes her eyes and swallows.
They pull up in front of a darkened sports complex and she turns to look at him, questions communicated through her eyes.
“You don’t have something more worthwhile to do right now than slap a horsehide with a stick do ya, Scully?” he says with a smirk.
Her eyebrows lift. “Perhaps not, Mulder, but it looks like they’re closed.”
“A mere technicality,” he replies as he parks right in front of the main entrance, not even in a parking spot.
They approach the doors and he produces a set of keys from his pocket, holding the door open for her before he locks it behind them. There are security lights faintly illuminating the shuttered games and concessions, and she startles a little when she feels him slip his hand into hers, pulling her towards a hallway. His hand is broad and slightly callused, and she unconsciously threads her fingers through his. He glances at her, a slight cast of surprise in his features, but doesn’t say anything.
When they reach a large room, he flips on the lights and she sees rows of batting cages, five or six lined up on either side of a walkway down the middle.
“Are we supposed to be in here?” she asks him suspiciously, and he shrugs.
“The cops aren’t going to roll up or anything, if that’s what you’re worried about,” he says as he gathers a bucket of balls and two bats. “Even if they did, a couple FBI badges should send them off right quick.” He winks at her and she feels a flutter in her belly.
He motions for her to follow him to one of the cages, and she waits nervously while he loads the pitching machine and turns it on. When he turns around, he sees her trepidation and smiles warmly at her.
“Don’t worry, I’ll teach you everything you need to know,” he says reassuringly, and she forces her mouth into a tight smile.
He directs her to stand just outside the cage and demonstrates for her how the pitching machine works, talking her through his stance and movements for seven or eight pitches. He hits every single one, sending the ball crashing into the back wall with a padded smack, and she has the unsettling feeling that she’s about to embarrass herself.
“Alright, batter up!” he says, handing her the bat and sending her in.
She gives him a doubtful look.
“It’s easy, you’ll get the hang of it,” he encourages her, then shows her where to stand before he steps out and starts the pitching machine.
When the first pitch sails by, she winces and lets out a little squeak, but doesn’t swing. She can hear Mulder chuckle a little, but waits for the next one. When it comes, she swings way too early, and it flies past her head and bounces off the back wall. Three or four complete misses later, she looks at him woefully.
“I’m terrible at this, Mulder,” she whines.
He shakes his head and smiles at her.
“You just need some minor adjustments,” he offers, then comes inside the cage. He steps up close behind her and she startles a little at the contact.
“Sorry, is this okay? It’s the best way to show you,” he offers, and she nods, the back of her head brushing against his shoulder with the movement. He’s just showing her how to hit a stupid baseball. It’s the least romantic thing on earth, as far as she’s concerned.
He steps close again, wrapping his arms around hers as the length of his torso presses firmly against hers from her shoulder blades right down to her ass. She can feel his breath hot on her ear as he speaks.
“Now don’t strangle the bat, Scully, just shake hands with it,” he says as their palms brush over one another, vying for real estate. “We want to go hips before hands,” he continues, “stride forward, and then turn.” He motions with a hand in front of her towards the pitching machine, and she nods in confirmation. “It’s hips,” he places an open palm against her hip bone and physically turns her torso. She feels a rush between her thighs. “Before hands,” he replaces his hand on the bat and guides them through a mock swing.
“Okay,” she says, taking a steadying breath.
“Again, that’s hips,” there his palm is again, hot and firm and pressing into her flesh as he tilts her pelvis forcibly, “before hands. What is it?”
“Um, hips before hands,” she says breathily, resisting an overwhelming urge to press her ass back harder into his lap, to slip that hand beneath the waistband of her jeans so she can feel it on her bare skin. She has a vision of her riding him on the floor as the pitching machine flings balls aimlessly against the back wall, no one caring enough to hit them. She shivers.
“We’re gonna wait on the pitch, keep our eye on the ball, and then we’re just gonna make contact. We’re not gonna think, we’re just gonna let it fly, Scully, okay?”
“Okay,” she says shakily, her heart thrumming in her chest.
They take several swings, the bat making contact with the ball with a sharp crack. Mulder is murmuring in her ear about letting your mind go blank and forgetting about all your worries, but she’s too distracted by the heat of his body and the smell of his aftershave to hear him. If not for the risk of getting pelted by a ball, she just might turn in his arms, push him up against the wire-fence walls of this batting cage, and show him how she prefers to handle bats and balls.
The grip of his hands over hers on the bat pinches the skin around her engagement ring and she jerks. Mulder steps away from her a bit.
“You okay?” he asks, and she nods.
“Um, maybe I should try by myself now. Thanks for showing me,” she says without looking at him, and he steps back into the walkway to watch her. She hits the next three balls, then turns to smile at him victoriously. The pain and longing in his expression makes her heart sink.
After shutting the place down, they drive back to the Hoover building in relative silence, tension hanging thick between them like a curtain. He puts the car in park and gets out, walking her to the door of her own car, which strikes her as unnecessary. She stands by the open door, sensing that there’s something he wants to say.
“Scully….” he stops and shakes his head gently, talking himself out of it.
“What?” she asks, desperately wanting to know what he was going to say.
He clenches his jaw, fighting an inner battle.
“Scully, I know I shouldn’t say this to you. I know that you’re...with someone. I just-” he purses his lips, then closes his eyes briefly. When he opens them, his eyes are so full of emotion it makes her breath catch in her chest. “I think about you all the time. Every second of every day.”
“Oh,” she responds lamely. There’s that urge again, the one she has to resist. “You seem like the kind of guy that believes in reincarnation, Mulder,” she says softly.
He gives her a quizzical look. “I don’t NOT believe in it,” he offers.
She smiles sadly at him, reaching out to grasp his hand and give it a brief squeeze. “Maybe in another life,” she says, then climbs into her car and shuts the door.
As she drives home, tears run down her cheeks freely. If she had to identify a reason for them, grief would be the closest one.

Tumblr media
“What in God’s name are you wearing?”
You turned around at the shocked voice to see Valerie standing in the kitchen doorway, red painted lips dropped open.
You grinned and planted your hands on your hips with pride. “My Valentine’s Day outfit! You don’t like it?”
Her face fell flat as she looked you up and down; the main culprit of her disdain was the shirt you wore, buttoned neatly and covered in hearts. “Hon, you look like a cartoon character.”
You wiggled your brows. “A sexy cartoon character?”
“Remind me again why I love you?”
Hearing the word ‘love’ from Valerie Lord would never not send your heart into a frenzy. It had been months since the gala, since they had told you about their feelings with courage brought on my champagne and their own confessions to one another.
They finally had each other, why couldn't they have you as well?
Of course, that didn’t mean there wasn’t a… learning curve. When it came to the relationship, Valerie was bad at sharing her feelings. Sure, she’d say when she didn’t like somebody, or when she thought certain food tasted bad or when Maxwell’s new cologne smelled like rat shit. But she wouldn’t tell you when she was sad, insecure or felt like she wasn’t enough for the both of you.
Maxwell was too concerned with the outer view of the relationship, as he had been with Valerie since they got married. It was suspicious of course, for him to be seen leaving with a “mystery woman” without his wife around, so he took certain precautions. When out and about, he would take too much time fretting over the cameras and questions than you.
These precautions nearly cost them your relationship, their sweet girl who brought them together and showed them love and care and made them realize while they couldn't live without each other, they couldn’t live without you as well.
But now, they knew this. That you weren’t a fling who could be replaced. Your nimble fingers had stitched their beating hearts back together with a golden thread they wouldn’t dare untie from your own.
You turned away from the heiress and back to the stove as you stirred the red sauce in front of you.
“As abhorrent as that shirt is-” Her voice purred in your ear as her arms slid around your waist and pulled your back flush against her- “I love you in those jeans.”
You chuckled and kept your eyes on the task at hand as you slowly stirred. “As much of a compliment that is, Mrs. Lord, why don’t you keep those hands to yourself until I put this on the stove, alright?”
She hummed, contemplative before pressing her lips to the crook of your neck. “So mean to me baby.”
Her hands toyed with your belt loop, a painted nail hooking your shirt and slowly sliding it out from where it was tucked.
You sucked in a sharp breath. “Valerie.”
“What? Can’t I show my pretty baby some love on Valentines day?”
“Not while I’m cooking on a hot stove, little-miss-gropey.” A quick slap to her wrist with the wooden spoon made her yelp and yank her hands away from you.
“Bitch!”
You turned and pursed your lips. “Aww, poor baby, want me to kiss it better?”
She grumbled under her breath, taking in the splattered food on her wrist from the spoon before swiping her finger through it and bringing it to her mouth.
“Maybe you can kiss my ass instea- Oh, damn that’s good.”
Her eyes widened and you couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of such a high and mighty woman licking the back of her hand.
“Is that-”
“Basil?” She hummed at the taste. “I’m glad you enjoy it. It’s my father’s recipe.”
Valerie watched you as you cooked. Methodically adding each ingredient while humming along to the radio and swaying from side to side.
“You don’t talk about him much.”
Valerie knew you were different than her and Maxwell. Your childhood wasn’t full of flashing cameras, propping questions, and hiding tears behind fake smiles to reporters. When your father was brought up in conversation, you didn’t bristle or change the subject. You would smile.
She wasn’t jealous of that joy. That love you had from your family. She’s grateful for it, that amongst the struggles you had, there was also support and happiness.
“He doesn’t come up in conversation often.” Valerie’s hands once more wrapped around your waist, but simply settled at your hips. Her body was flush with your own and she let her head rest on your shoulder, gently swaying with you as you continued to cook.
“Tell me about him.”
She saw the small smile that graced your lips, mourning and grateful all at once as you spoke of him.
“He used to say that as people, we’re a collection of those around us. The ones we’ve loved. All their little mannerisms and tics become a part of who we are. And that we do the same for other people who love us.”
As you slowly set the pasta onto the bottom of the pan and began to layer the sauce, she wondered who you were an amalgamation of. Was the way you tilted your head back as you laughed from an old flame?
Was the way you sang and shook your hips from a best friend when you were young, who you wished had been more?
Were the soft kisses you press to the tip of their noses something given to you? Or an act of love learned by watching your parents?
Did you have anything of hers? Of Max’s?
Did they have anything of yours?
“I see it in you and Max, yanno.” You stepped back to open the oven and settle the pan on the top rack before shutting it. “You both do a lil’ nose scrunch when you get angry.”
“What?” She drew back from your body, unintentionally wrinkling her nose in the process. “We do not.”
You pulled her close to your body again. Your arms settled around her waist as you slowly moved side to side. You hummed along to the smooth voice of Grover Washington Jr. that danced from the radio and filled the large kitchen, empty except for the two of you.
“Sure do. You're also both very boujee-”
“Hey.”
“A touch temperamental-”
“I’ll give you that one but-"
“As well as emotionally constipated-”
“Excuse me?”
“And yet-” You hummed, letting your head drop forward to rest against hers, nose bumping against hers in a gentle caress- “I can’t help but love you both every damn day.”
Her blue eyes widened, before she groaned and shoved her face into your shirt.
“You fucking sap.” She lifted her head to yours and kissed you. The melody curled around you as she wrapped her arms around your neck and tugged you flush against her. A soft moan broke from her lips as you ran your hands over the plush skin of her ass.
You pulled away long enough to press a kiss to the tip of her nose, giggling when her face scrunched up in response. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Val."
Valerie Lord never thought she’d have this. This love and security. The ability to smile and kiss and dance on a Sunday night in the arms of a lover. She didn’t think she’d ever have a day where she felt love, a love she wasn’t afraid to admit.
Especially to two people.
The pair of you danced in silence, listening to the lyrics that serenaded the way you spun her and the laugh that bubbled up her chest her perfect, pinned, blonde curls came loose.
And darling when the morning comes
And I see the morning sun
I wanna be the one with you.
When Maxwell came home, he noticed how quiet the house was. No chatter or footsteps along the hardwood floors. He knew what day it was, of course he did. He wasn’t an idiot. Valentine’s Day wasn’t a special day with the Lords. It never had been.
But of course, that was before they met you.
Maxwell never saw that love with his parents. His mother was cold and cruel, and while his father was a good man, he knew he didn’t love her. He didn’t blame him for it. But now he felt it. The way his heart would hammer against his ribs so hard he wondered if you could hear him. The way all his stress and anger would melt away the moment Valerie’s hands held his face in a grasp like that used to carry a bird with a broken wing.
He didn’t think it was possible to love. To desire and need somebody as much as he did you two. Now he did, and he wouldn’t go back to a life without it for all the money and power in the world.
The sound of smooth sax caught his attention. Slowly, he set down his briefcase and followed the music until he found himself in front of the kitchen.
This. Maxwell thought as he watched the two of you, your eyes shut as you held one another in a close embrace as swayed. This is why he did it all.
The long hours, the greuling work and idiotic employees. If he could come home to this everyday, it’d all be worth it.
He leaned against the doorway, watching you two until your own eyes opened and met his.
“Happy to finally have you with us monopoly-man.”
He snorted at your lovingly crude nickname. “It was a long day at work.” Gone was the fake ‘apple-pie-and-picket-fence’ accent he forced himself to use at work when he spoke and you loved it. To see the real Maxwell was a privilege, one you would never take for granted.
“Every day at work is a long day for you.”
Before he could retort, his wife unwrapped her arms from you and walked over to her husband. Valerie cupped his face in her hand and led him to her lips with a soft moan. Maxwell melted into the kiss with ease, all thoughts of work and conference calls vanished into thin air as his wife’s fingers carded through his hair. She pulled away with a wet pop and ran a thumb over the smudged lipstick on his face.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, dear.”
Maxwell let his hand run over her bottom lip with a lazy smile. She was magnificent like this. Not preened or pinned or posed. She was messy and unkempt and happy. She never looked more breathtaking than in those moments.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, honey.”
Her eyes flicked over his crisp suit and her sweet smile was replaced with a groan.
“Son of a bitch you fuckers are matching!”
You shrieked with laughter while Valerie pointed an accusatory finger at the heart-covered tie that lay on her husband’s chest.
“You tacky traitor!”
You leaned over and pressed your lips to his cheek, his hand coming to rest at the small of your back.
“Aw don’t worry, Max. She’s just jealous she isn't matching with us.”
Valerie reared back. “I’ll be caught dead before I ever-”
“Alastair sent them to us.”
A moment of silence passed before she spoke again, more offended than annoyed.
“And he didn’t send one for me?”
Maxwell smirked at his wife, fishing out a small white box and presenting it to her.
“Our son knows his mother wouldn’t be caught dead in anything with gaudy patterns.” He opened the box and she took in the red heart earrings with a smile.
Which was ultimately ruined by you.
“Aw, he boujee just like his mama!”
Before either one could snap back at you, a small ding sounded through the kitchen and you moved quickly over to the oven.
“You know-” Maxwell spoke as he put the earrings on his wife with gentle hands- “We have a chef for a reason.”
You brought out the pan and set it onto the stove, taking in the savory smell with a proud smile.
“Well, fine then. Go get your cook to make you dinner if you want to complain.”
“Wait. Wait, no that not- that’s not what I meant- I’m starving, please.”
Valerie moved around her husband, taking a bottle of red wine and bumping his hip with hers. “Just set the table Maxwell, we both know how you can make it up to her later. It’s a special day after it all.”
Her husband loosened his tie and grinned at you in a way that made you think he wanted to eat you for dinner instead of the meal you prepared.
“Lovely idea, darling.”

Never Too Old (Or Young)
It was a rare morning that Tony got up before Stephen or the girls, so he took the opportunity to get up and go downstairs to make himself a cup of coffee. He may have been awake, but he wasn't quite aware, which was something the coffee would help with. Tony yawns and pours the coffee into a mug when it finishes brewing and he walks over to one of the windows to blearily look out as he drinks his...what did Harley call it? His anti-murder juice.
Each sip he took woke him little by little until he noticed a white smudge on the window in front of him. What the hell? Tony tries to rub it away with his finger, and that's when he realizes that the smudge was on the outside. It looked nothing like bird poop, in fact, it was a solid white. It had a specific curve to it…
The engineer takes a step back when he notices another white smudge out of the corner of his eye, and he sighs heavily when he sees the smudges all over the windows. They were everywhere. It took a couple more thoughtful sips of his morning coffee for things to finally click and Tony realized they were stickers.
"These damn kids," Tony huffs as he walks into the living room.
The likely suspects were Peter and Diana. He considered Harley for a brief moment, but not only would it be hard to place so many stickers on the outside of the tower windows in the Rescue suit...but he was also passed out on the couch. Textbooks were all over the coffee table, the floor, and even a couple were on the teen himself which was a dead giveaway that he had been studying all night. Why he was in the living room instead of up in his room was beyond Tony, but he shrugged it off before carefully taking off the boy's glasses and setting them aside.
Stephen was the one to suspect Harley's far-sightedness a couple of years ago, and the boy had been so relieved that there wasn't something seriously wrong with him. The sorcerer had kept a close eye on Harley after almost a week of complaining of headaches, and the boy would squint while doing homework or reading, pull the book farther away, and even rub his eyes.
Maybe in the hopes of fixing his vision.
So Stephen took him to a specialist since he and Bruce didn't exactly specialize in optometry. The doctor confirmed Stephen's suspicion and they got Harley some prescription glasses which clearly made a difference when he started wearing them. No more furrowing brows, no more headaches, and he got his homework done faster since he wasn't using most of the time to try and see it in the first place.
Tony had a suspicion that William liked them too.
Just as Tony was about to throw a blanket on his oldest son, Levi beat him to it and draped itself across the teen. "Why didn't you do that before?"
"It can only do so much without me." Stephen says as he descends the stairs holding Lucy and with Athena trailing behind him.
"One of our kids decorated the windows." Tony tells him as he puts his coffee down on a book free surface to take their youngest. "And the tree is miraculously still standing."
"That's because Tibbs is in Peter's room. We have a whole day of prying him away from it ahead of us." Stephen rolls his eyes and heads into the kitchen to make himself some tea and a bottle for Lucy.
That was made and handed to Tony before breakfast was started. Thomas and William join a few minutes later and the younger of the twins joins Stephen in the kitchen to help as Thomas retreats into the living room. It turned into a typical morning after that. The rest of the kids woke up, some of the Avengers came up to join the family for breakfast, and sometime in the middle of that chaos, Harley woke up and cleaned up his study mess. Breakfast was eaten and Harley and William made plans to do some last-minute Christmas shopping.
It definitely wasn't a date.
Peter and Cassie had their own plans and Peter was currently showering while his girlfriend went back downstairs and got ready. It was relatively calm then...at least as calm as it could be with as many people as there were. Stephen was reading on the couch with Athena next to him with her head in his lap, and he periodically pet her head as he read. Tony had disappeared down to the lab with Lucy to undoubtedly turn her into a grease monkey, and Valerie was coloring on the floor with Diana. Thomas...was somewhere not dying or getting into trouble so that was enough for them. Harley disappeared as well which was weird since William was still in the living room with the girls.
Stephen nonchalantly turned a page in his book when Peter screeched. The wolf lifted her head at the same time Stephen, Valerie, Diana, and William looked up toward the bedrooms, and Peter soon came out of his room with only a towel around his waist with blue splotches all over his skin.
"HARLEY!" Peter shouts and Stephen sighs.
A prank. Specifically the one where a showerhead was filled with dissolvable dye capsules or Kool-aid powder. Harley was nowhere to be seen and to Stephen's surprise, William burst into hysterical laughter. Peter gave the younger teen a look that was a mix between annoyance, bewilderment, and what looked like glee. Probably because William was actually laughing about something.
"I-I'm sorry!" William sputters through bouts of laughter.
Peter huffs. "Mom, have you seen Harley?"
"Nope." Stephen says as he flips a page in his book and Athena lays her head back down.
Peter looks at William. "Tell your boyfriend it's on!" He disappears back into his room to scrub the blotches off his skin, leaving William to sputter.
Stephen chuckles and returns part of his attention to his book when William ends up blushing bright red.
"You should kiss him." Diana finally says and William's eyes widen.
"Wh-what?!"
"You should kiss Harley. You both like each other." She repeats. "You're worse than Uncle Quill and Uncle Scott."
"He doesn't-"
"He does." Stephen says and turns another page.
"Hey, Will! Come on!" Harley says from the elevator.
William turns a deeper shade of red as he gets up to join Harley, and Stephen hears the older one ask him if he's okay as the elevator doors close. Maybe his and Diana's little confession would be just the push William and Harley needed but then again…
"Boys are stupid."
"Diana." Stephen scolds lightly.
"They are." She mumbles.
"Who's responsible for the stickers?" The sorcerer asks.
"Petey. He crawled on the windows outside and put them on."
"I suppose you supplied them?"
"Nuh-uh. Valerie."
Stephen looks back up from his book and raises an eyebrow at Valerie who definitely looks a little guilty. She pouts up at him with her big blue eyes, and he sighs in defeat. One would think that with seven kids he would be immune to the puppy eyes but he fell for them every time. He was pretty sure the kids knew it too.
No. He was positive.
"Bye Mom! Be back later!" Peter calls out as he races down the stairs and through the door to the stairwell.
"Have fun." Stephen manages to say before the door shuts.
"Mama, look." Valerie holds up the paper she was coloring on and reveals endless scribbles that covered the whole of it.
"It's very beautiful. Do you want to hang it up?" He smiles when her eyes widen in excitement and she nods.
The two year old gets up and walks over to the cloak floating nearby and holds it up to Levi. The cloak happily takes it, and with a cartoonish flourish that briefly made Stephen feel like he was in one, Levi tacks it to the wall with the other drawings. When it claps the folds of its collar together, Stephen knew they were in far too deep. Even his cloak was domesticated.
"My children have turned an ancient relic into a nanny." Stephen bemoans.
"Daddy said you started it." Diana says and Stephen huffs.
"It was one time and that was when Peter was turned into a baby. The cloak was the only one that could reach Peter when he was climbing the walls and the ceiling." Stephen closes his book. "Speaking of your daddy, since he smuggled your sister into the lab, why don't we go to the store?"
"Can I come?" Thomas suddenly says from next to him.
"Get your coat."
In the meantime, Stephen takes the girls upstairs to get them dressed and once they all have their coats on, he opens a portal to the store. Thomas of course returned while the girls were getting ready, and went through the portal after picking up Diana. Stephen huffs fondly when Diana giggles loudly and picks up Valerie to follow them. It took a couple of years, but the twins were finally comfortable asking for things but it was usually still necessities. It was still kind of rare for them to ask for things they wanted.
"'tena?" Valerie asks and waves at the wolf behind Stephen. "'Tena, here!"
Athena comes through the portal and Stephen rolls his eyes as he waves his hand to get her service vest on. It would at least lessen the looks, which only left the 'is that a wolf' whispers. Yes. Yes she is.
"If you weren't so shy of strangers, I'd say you would grow up to be a politician or a world leader."
"Nah, Val?" Thomas cackles. "She's too nice."
"Also a good point. Push the cart please?"
Thomas nods and puts Diana down so he can grab a cart and they walk through the aisles of Target. Diana was happy to 'ooh' and 'aah' at every piece of clothing she saw and Valerie soon ended up in the seat of the cart when Stephen's hands began to tremble a little too much. He then had to attempt to redirect Diana's attention away from the clothes because he was pretty sure she had twenty versions of the sundress she was looking at. Cassie was the one that took her shopping for clothes anyway. It was their thing.
"Aww…" Diana pouts but goes without a fuss to the bedding aisle.
"Why don't you help me pick out some sheets for your sister?"
"There's one with stars on it." Thomas points out and grabs the set to hand to the seven year old.
Diana rolls the set around in her hands with a scrutinizing gaze and then shakes her head. "No. She needs animals."
She looks up at the selection of bedding and finally points up at a set with little brown rabbits. Thomas grabs it for her and after she scrutinizes it like the one before, she smiles and nods and holds it up for Valerie to see.
"Do you like it Valerie?" She asks and the two year old grabs it and scrunches her brows at it before smiling.
"Bunny!"
Stephen chuckles. "I'll take that as a yes." His phone then rings and he takes it out of his pocket to answer it. "Yes love?"
"Heyyyyy Honey…" Tony starts and the sorcerer instantly narrows his brows in suspicion even though his husband can't see.
"What did you do Tony?"
"What? Nothing! Everything's fine! FRIDAY just told me you were at the store and thought I'd tell you that we're low on diaper wipes." Tony answers casually.
"Lucy is covered in grease again isn't she?" Stephen asks flatly.
"It suits her."
"She is two weeks old! Give her a bath. A proper one."
"Yes Duchess." The mechanic chuckles. "We do need more wipes though."
"Noted."
Stephen hangs up and rolls his eyes as he directs the kids to the baby section. Wordlessly, he grabs at least three packs of wipes before grabbing a fourth just in case. Tony had a habit of wiping down Lucy with diaper wipes whenever she was down in the lab with him and she got dirty, but Stephen didn't even know how he managed that. Her motor skills were still nearly non-existent and he wondered if maybe his husband used her as a rag.
He wouldn't put it past Tony. He got tunnel vision whenever he got invested in a project. Stephen couldn't complain though. Lucy loved being in the lab with her father and Tibbs, and whoever else happened to be in there with them. Granted, she slept through most of the chaos, and when she didn't, she was very helpful to Tony.
Baby noises were apparently helpful.
"We better hurry and finish up so we can go save your sister." Stephen says.
"It might be too late." Thomas jokes.
They finish their shopping and Stephen opens a portal back to the penthouse where they find Tony giving Lucy her bath. Before Stephen can even open his mouth, he sees the baby tub in the sink and makes a strangled noise when he finds the water in it nearly pitch black.
"I'm afraid to ask...but what happened?" He asks through clenched teeth.
Tony looks up and actually looks a little sheepish. "Domino effect I think? Something backfired, Tibbs was startled...and I think he knocked over a box of dust."
"I wouldn't be surprised. You barely clean the lab." Stephen sighs. "I hope you found a baby underneath all that filth."
"I did. She's very cute too. Can we keep her?" Tony holds up their naked baby daughter and grins.
Stephen can't help but chuckle.
"You get to change the diapers."
"Always stuck with the dirty work." Tony grumbles.

Never give up (Diego Hargreeves x Fem! Reader)
A/N:  This is the second and final part of the previous one shot: Just One Chance , I hope you like it -Val
The requests are still open!
Words: 2,853
Tumblr media
"How could you betray me? I thought we were best friends," says Allison from her phone. I roll my eyes.
"It's not treason, it's just a date" I say walking towards my closet. "It's not a big deal, Al."
"Sure, because it's a good idea to date the guy who practically used you as a punching bag."
"Al, Diego has never hurt me physically, at least not on purpose ... not that way."
"Right, if he did, all my brothers would kill him," I nod, even though she can't see me.
I reach out my arm to take two dresses and put them on my bed.
“Hey, which dress should I wear? Blue or red?"
"It seems that you do have a lot of interest in your date..."
"I thought you were against it."
“Hey, it's not my fault. I remember when you were crying when Diego made fun of you, then you got over it and now you ask me for fashion advice for a date with him-"
I sigh as I sit back on the mattress.
"Do you think I should cancel?" I ask nervously.
Allison is right, although all of our fights were childish, I really thought Diego hated me, but when he explained everything –I don't know-
"I can't help you with that."
"Come on, Allison. Now I feel the betrayal."
“You're going out with my brother and even if I don't want to admit it, if he gets hurt, I'm also hurt. I love you, you know, but I also love my brother, Y/N."
“Okay, let's forget for a moment that we had those problems when we were kids. What if I'm wrong to give it a try? You know that I don't have luck with my relationships..."
"Hey, no, no, no, don't start with that. We've talked, they were the idiots, you're great and it's their lost. Enough doubts and insecurity, forget what I told you!" She remains silent for a few seconds. "I could say that red would highlights everything, but I know that blue dress you mentioned and I'm sure that you'll leave my brother breathless. I vote for blue." I smile a little. “Listen, like you said, it's just a date. And I know you very well, if you don't go, you will regret it."
I sigh.
"Thanks."
“It's nothing, sweetie. Don't forget to tell me how it went!" She says and then hangs up.
I stare at the blue dress.
"Please don't be a disaster" I implore.

Diego
"Do you want to review?"
I nod unable to stand still.
"Well, I hear you," says Vanya sitting from her bed.
"First I'll go for her and I must give compliments, avoiding mentioning her breasts or butt," I say quickly. "I'll take her to the restaurant that is two blocks from her house, we'll have dinner, we'll talk… I'll confess everything and hopefully she won't yell at me or kill me."
"Diego!" says Vanya scolding me.
"Can I say something?" Sissy asks sitting down next to my sister. "I don't think it's a good idea to plan a date like that."
"What?" I snap looking at the blonde.
"I'm not saying that you're doing things wrong," She says, trying to calm me down. "It's just that, I think it's better when you don't plan it and you're just yourself..."
The three of us remain silent for a few seconds.
"Honey," says Vanya, taking her hand. "We already tried that."
"That doesn't help me at all," I growl.
“Diego, relax. If she sees you tense or calculating, she'll think it's just a game," adds Sissy.
"It's not."
"Then just think that you're going to date a cute girl, if you want things to go well, you both have to be comfortable with each other."
I analyze her words.
"And breathe, please," Vanya adds.
"Ok," I stretch my arms, walk up to the mirror and adjust my jacket, making sure everything is in order. “I-I'm going out with a beautiful girl. A d-date,” I nod in front of my reflection.
"You can do it, Kraken," says Vanya in a mocking tone making me laugh.
***
I ring the doorbell of her house, I wait a few minutes until I hear a "I'm coming" from inside. I step away from the door and breathe calmly again.
Don't rush, let everything flow.
She's the boss, keep an eye on the signs of affection.
Just relax.
The door opens and my breath catches at the sight of the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my damn life.
"Hey," She says with a shy smile. I shake my head and smile at her too.
"Hey," I look at her blue dress -which looks spectacular- without stopping in some inappropriate place... for now. "You're beautiful, Angel." I say without thinking much about the little nickname, but I know it was the best decision since I see a slight blush on her cheeks.
"Thank you, you don't look bad either, Hargreeves," She closes the door, we both go down the stairs. "What's the plan, Knife boy?" I smile at the mention of the nickname from when I was a child.
“There's a good restaurant two blocks from here. We can go walking.”
"Sounds good."
We both walk in silence for a few seconds, until she giggles.
"What?" I ask with a nervous smile.
"Oh, it's just that... I'm so used to it– I thought you were going to make fun of my outfit or something."
"Well, sorry, I don't have material. You look beautiful and it's not that I'm an expert, but blue looks good on you,” I say scratching the back of my neck.
We soon reached the restaurant, where Vanya made reservations. Truth be told, I appreciate my sister's suggestion, this place is great for a first date.
After ordering our food I can see her in more detail while she's distracted, my heart races when I notice her playing with her hands, she constantly takes a strand of her loose hair and looks at all the decorations to avoid locking eyes with me. Is she as nervous as I am?
"You're good?" I ask.
She looks up at me.
"Yes, I am, it's just that ..." She shakes her head. "Forget it, it doesn't matter."
"Hey," I lean in and put my hand over hers. "If you feel uncomfortable, we can go somewhere else, no problem."
She tilts her head and frowns slightly.
"No, it's not that," She says moving her hand away. I also take away mine and fix my jacket. "This place is beautiful..." She looks at me. "Everything has turned out well in a short time, I don't know, I'm waiting for you to say nonsense, just... something hurtful."
Her words make me grimace. I can't blame her, I felt like an idiot for so many years, but even so, I'm trying my best, I haven't done anything wrong and she still thinks I'll hurt her.
"I won't," I say seriously. "But, if you expect something like that even after what I told you the other night, I don't understand why you agreed to this."
Maybe I'm willing to make a fool of myself in front of the girl I like, but I can't let my efforts be in vain. She tenses and leans in the chair.
"No, no! I didn't mean I- uhm" She stutters. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, you're right."
I sigh.
“Ok, let's promise something,” She looks at me carefully. “From now on, we will both be honest with each other. Let's forget tonight how stupid I was. I promise there will be no more games, or anything like that."
Y/N relaxes instead.
"Unless you want it," I add with a smile and she laughs.
"I promise to be honest with you, too."
The food arrives interrupting the conversation, but as soon as the waiter leaves, the tension is long gone.
"I can't believe I'm actually on a date with you," I say shyly.
“Trust me, me neither. My twelve-year-old self is over the moon,” She says.
I raise my eyebrows ."And what does your today self say about now?"
"She's still thinking things through."
The rest of the night we talk about what we've been up to lately. I told her about my boxing, some stories I had from when I help people -omitting some violent parts - the stupidest times I got arrested and she tells me about her life. She just finished law school and now works with a friend of hers, she tells me some funny cases, some sad cases, she also tells me the story of when her friend found out that she knew the guys from Umbrella Academy.
“I swear, she has all the action figures and some posters in her room. At first it was kind of adorable, but she's always asking me to introduce her."
"Is she hot?" I ask mockingly and she throws a grape at me, making me laugh. "Just kidding, just kidding!" I raise my hands in surrender.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Shoot," I say nodding.
"Why did you wait until now to ask me out?"
I stir in my place, a little uncomfortable.
"It's ridiculous," I clear my throat. "But, since my break up with Eudora, I uh-" I look down until I feel her delicate hand on mine.
"You can tell me, Diego." I look at her and I feel the warmth of her hand, sighing.
“I see my brothers, Allison with Raymond, Vanya with Sissy, even Klaus has Dave. I uh- I've been thinking, lately, about my relationships, all a mess. Not that I'm comparing myself to my siblings -we both know I'm amazing- but, I-I don't know. I see them with their partners and I can't help but want something like that,” I scratch my face, right where I have a scar. “With Eudora, we had a lot of problems, we wanted different things. Then I met a girl, Lila..."
Y/N looks at me confused. My relationship with Lila is not known with my family, I think only Five knew her.
“It didn't work either, but the point is that, when I give myself moments to think about a future next to someone," I take courage to see her in the eyes. "You are always there."
I pray to God that it doesn't scare her away.
“When we were children, I didn't know how to act next to you,” She says shyly, “if someone said your name, I would get nervous and was afraid of making a fool of myself in front of you. So my best solution was to evade you. Then you started with the jokes and I thought you hated me, but to be honest, my feelings for you didn't change overnight. I remember when Allison comforted me, while I was crying thinking that I could never be with you."
Maybe if I can convince Five to travel back in time and tell my twelve-year-old self that he's being a jerk, everything would be better.
"I'm very sorry, the least I wanted or want is to hurt you, Y/N".
“I know,” She laughs slightly. “Now that I think about it, we were just kids, Diego. None of us knew how to handle our feelings. With time I gave up." She bites her lower lip and then smiles. "But apparently, you didn't."
"I don't give up so easily, Angel," She nods.
"I'm glad you didn't."
Quite cheesy, but I feel like there's a lot of movement in my stomach and it's not the food.
We decided to take a walk through a park close to the place.
"Diego," She says, and I stand in front of her. She looks away. "You have to know something, before anything happens..."
"You're married?" I try to joke, but her words actually scare me to death. Her laughter reassures me. I'm proud to be the cause of those.
"No, you idiot," She sighs. "You were honest when you told me about your relationships. I suppose I must be too," She fidgets. "I haven't had much luck either, my last boyfriends haven't been the best, they ended up... badly," She says with teary eyes. "I'm afraid that something like that will happen again."
My heart clenches and I just want to hug her, but I stop. I take her chin and slowly lift it.
"I don't know the whole story, but I can assure you that they're assholes," I whisper as I wipe a tear from her cheek. "Although, I'm glad they're not in my way."
"Diego-"
I cup her cheek.
“Y/N, I'd do anything to be by your side, to even hold your hand, listen to your day, kiss you... I've waited for years. I'm sorry, but if you agree to be with me, it'll be difficult to get rid of me later, no matter how many stories of ex-boyfriends you tell me."
"What if we end badly?"
"My brothers will be in charge of kicking my ass," is no joke and we know it.
"What if I'm the one who hurts you?"
"I guess Allison and Vanya can take care of your ass."
She laughs again and I join her.
"You really don't plan on giving up, do you?" Our faces are very close.
"No, ma'am," I say leaning down, about to kiss her.
"Not even if I tell you not to kiss me on the first date?" She walks away.
I freeze in my place and hear her laugh. I shake my head and look at her a little dazed.
"Is it a type of revenge?" I ask.
"Well, you once left me in the same spot when we were children."
I curse under my breath.
"Hey! In my defense that was Ben, he challenged me, trying to help me to confess what I felt for you, but in the end I chickened out," I say making a face.
She stands on her tiptoes and quickly kisses my cheek. I smile at her.
I'm sure my face is now that of an idiot in love and I don't care.
"What about kisses on the second date?"
She raises her eyebrows.
"I could consider it, but this time I choose what to do."
"Deal. Do you have something in mind?
"Maybe go to the gym where you can teach me some things about self defense..."
"Are you sure?"
"You offered yourself the night of the party!"
I nod.
"Whatever the lady wants."
"It's a date…"

"Klaus! You're already drunk and we haven't even started the game!” I complain.
"Don't be a spoilsport, Dieguito," He drawled as he sat in the opposite chair.
I roll my eyes and wait for my other siblings to arrive. This 'one night with board games' has become a tradition. At the beginning everything started well, but some don't know how to lose or even win, it always ends differently.
Luther arrives and sits next to Klaus to scold him again for being drunk, then Ben arrives along with Vanya and Sissy. After a few minutes, Raymond and Allison arrive.
"I hope you don't cry about losing this time, Y/N," says Five, Y/N walks in behind him.
“I've never cried. You're the one who always cheats!” She complains as she puts a bowl of chips on the table. She turns to see me pouting. "Right, D?"
She asks me sitting on my lap. I put my arm around her waist.
"He always does," I agree kissing her cheek. My brother looks at us with a sneer.
"Obviously your boyfriend's going to be on your side, brotherhood my ass," He complains.
"Don't be jealous, Five," I joke and he snorts.
"Well, we have to go over the rules," says Luther, drawing attention. "Five you can't flip the board again- Klaus put your glass away, the cards from the last time are still sticky..."
While he continues speaking, Y/N leans against my chest, I look down to see her.
"How do you think this will end?" She whispers.
"I say Ben will win, but Five will want to play again until he wins."
"Hmm..." She says, putting her hand on my shoulder. "I say Five will fight with Allison and it'll all be over before anyone can win."
"It's a bet?" She smiles and nods. "What does the winner get?"
"If I win, you should take me and Allison shopping," I groan. "But, if you win..." She leans close to my ear. "We won't leave the bedroom for a whole day."
I frown.
"Why wouldn't we go out?" She gives me one stern look and that's when I understand. “Oh! Yeah, okay." I smirk. "Deal, Angel," I say and then kiss her lips.
"Hey, you two!" shouts Ben in amusement. "We're going to start, so split up!"
We laugh. She turns a little to pay attention when Luther rolls the dice, I move close to her ear.
"I love you, Y/N."
She smiles at me and gives me a short kiss.
"I love you too, Diego."

seeking the truth - part 3
Rating: T Fandom: Danny Phantom
Part 3: finding facts
Tags: Valerie POV, Post D-Stabilized, Pre-PP, Sorta Reveal Fic
Read on ao3
“Danny!” Valerie called as she approached his locker with a wave.
He seemed almost stunned to see her. She hadn’t seen him look so nervous around her in a long time. Danny could be very jittery at times, so maybe he was just having one of those days. She couldn’t blame him considering his parents were ghost hunters (and his dad’s best pal was a half-ghost lunatic).
“Uh,” he glanced at Sam and Tucker before making eye-contact. “Hey, Valerie. What’s up?”
“Do you think we could talk?” She gave a look to his friends. “In private?”
Sam crossed her arms. “What’s so important that you can’t talk about it in front of us?”
Valerie rolled her eyes. “It’s not about you, if that’s what you’re worried about,” she turned back to Danny, “or us for that matter. It’s about ghost stuff. I figured you’d know something.”
Was he sweating? Why was he sweating? Danny sucked in a breath. “Uh, what? W-Why would I know a lot about ghosts?”
“Because… your parents are ghost hunters?”
“Oh! Right! Right, I knew that, uh…”
Valerie cocked a brow. “Danny, are you okay?”
Tucker stepped in (blocking Sam’s glare) and placed a hand on Danny’s shoulder. “He… just didn’t get a lot of sleep last night. You know how he gets when he’s sleep deprived. Why don’t you two go talk--for a bit. We’ll be right over here, right Sam?”
“Yes,” she hissed looking away, “We’ll be here.”
“Great!” Valerie beamed before grabbing Danny by the wrist. “Let’s go.”
Danny was still jumpy when she got him to a picnic table outside. He was so nervous and she couldn’t figure out why.
“Look, what we’re about to talk about is super secret, and I need you to promise you won’t say anything, okay?”
“Okay,” Danny said with a nod.
Valerie sucked in a breath. “Do you know that half-ghosts exist?”
His eyes went wide at that. “Uh, no. I-I had no idea.”
“Danny, c’mon, don’t lie to me. I promise this stays between us.”
Sighing, his head drooped. “Okay, I’ve heard of there being a possibility.”
“What do you know about them?”
“Val, I can’t…”
Valerie pursed her lips. “You’re protecting Phantom, aren’t you?”
Blinking, he glanced away. “What gave you that idea?”
“I’ve seen Sam and Tucker around him… it’d be dumb for me not to assume you’re involved too. Can you give me something? Just a little bit?”
Danny was thinking it over as he watched her. She could practically see so many thoughts rolling around in his mind as he thought about what he would say. Valerie understood that there would be things she wasn’t allowed to know. Things that had to be kept secret. But she hoped Danny trusted her enough to know she wouldn’t tell anyone else.
“Half-ghosts are usually created by lab accidents… When too much ghost DNA gets fused with human DNA it forms a half ghost. I’m sure there’s a lot more scientific mumbo-jumbo to go with it, but that’d be more my parents’ department and--well…”
“They don’t know half-ghosts exist?”
“No. You know how they can be…”
Valerie nodded, pausing for a moment. “I’m guessing you’re the reason Phantom ends up with a lot of your parents’ gadgets?”
He snorted. “Yeah, that’s me.”
“I’m sorry I hunted him for so long… I guess I really didn’t think Phantom was trying to do the right thing.”
“I…” Danny cleared his throat. “Phantom has messed up a lot, especially when he was learning how to use his ghost powers in the beginning. He doesn’t blame you for hating him. There have been a lot of misunderstandings.”
“I get that now,” Valerie confessed. “It was easier to hate him than to see the big picture.”
“Amity Park is Phantom’s home too. He doesn’t want anyone to destroy it either. Or let it get overrun by ghosts.”
“Yeah… the last few days have been very eye opening and weird.”
Danny snorted. “I’ll bet.”
Huh. That was a strange response.
She looked at him. Really looked at him. She took in all of Danny’s features. His nose, his eyes, his hair… Everything she thought she’d really known. But it wasn’t the same, suddenly. Suddenly… Danny Fenton looked like a complete stranger. This boy she had come to have feelings for didn’t look like that person. He looked older. He looked like he’d been through hell and back.
“Danny, what’s your involvement in all of this? What is it really?”
There was a sad expression she couldn’t read. Those shining blue eyes were full of dread as he gazed at her. Shaking his head, he grimaced. “I can’t, Val.”
Oh.
“That’s okay,” she said with a forced smile.
Valerie placed a hand on his shoulder before sliding off the table. As she walked away, her world tilted around her. Things were locking into place and falling apart simultaneously. She chose to ignore it. This knowledge wasn’t her place to know. There was no confirmation. She didn’t know the truth.

the best things about Outer Banks
*spoilers ahead*
Holy hell, this turned out so long. I decided to make a second post solely dedicated to quotes because I just could not fit that in here anymore. I guess it speaks for this show that I had enough material to make two... Anyways, enjoy!
pt.2 - The Best Quotes From OUTER BANKS
Tumblr media
NOT the pace at which John B and Sarah’s relationship develops
noT AT ALL
sorry, done with the venting now
anyhow, the group being TIGHT ™
JJ making you feel one of three ways:
“oh heLLO, JJ” (mostly without a shirt scenes)
“ugh, JJ” (he brought the gun and/or is being a dick scenes)
“awww, JJ...” (you know which scenes)
Kie’s outfits
the golden hour lighting
the sets being actual houses
the beach/sea/surfer aesthetic
the van
The Chateau™
JJ’s rings
Pope’s contributions being overlooked, always
everyone’s motivation on this show: “How much?” “400 mill”
conclusion: that’s worth fucking shit up
Kie actually being really skilled in politely but determinedly shutting her guy friends down when “macking” on her
ya know, until the Pope pity party at the end...
cuz that’s what it felt like, for real
I actually thought JJ and Pope might have a thing going...
the soundtrack full of surf guitar music
the intro font always making it feel like some 90s Miami-set crime show is about to start
John B’s hair, I think?
I mean, I don’t know what you’re into...
I just feel like it’s a breath of fresh air on the boy’s-hairstyles-tv-landscape
getting major “Don’t Breathe” vibes from the blind old lady shooting up her house
I appreciate them trying to make her actually kinda creepy, because they usually fail miserably with "scary” elements on non horror stuff
I don’t know if you catch my drift, just thought it was well done...
Sarah getting stung by a jellyfish and everyone just like not really caring??
all of them thinking for even oNE SECOND that they weren’t gonna get screwed over with the gold
JJ looking like the lead of any 90s teen production at all times
JJ just effortlessly blending in with the waiters at the party
or that time when he fake cried on command to save his ass
but like every character has good acting skills (or simply is a good liar, I guess it’s a matter of philosophy)
JJ and Pope betting money on Kie and Sarah
Kie starting a fire to save everyone’s ass
the Vlad and Val thing (cheesy for sure, but adorbs nonetheless)
highkey though the guy playing the drug dealer is a really good actor, cuz I’m sure he’s nice and cool and all irl but as Barry all he makes me think of is this:
Tumblr media
Topper’s Frosted Tips™ (gosh that sounds so unbelieveabley sexual I can’t believe it’s not sexual)
JJ constantly trolling every authority figure
Sarah not being the perfect-snobby-rich-chick-daughter despite being expected to be by everyone
JJ robbing the coast guard of a pen? because he ignored him
“bring it on Aggie, you bitch” sign (I don’t think stroms can read but nice touch)
especially the first few episodes finally being an accurate depiction of how teenage boys always wear their hat floating like 5″ above their head and hoW FUCKING DUMB IT LOOKS!!! thank you! please stop...
Pope loosing his pants at the cemetary (like imagine him having to explain that to his mama)
the “friends” awkwardly waving at Kie’s dad
that one silouette shot ✨cinematography, bitches✨
never actually seeing John B give the BMX bike back to that poor kid...
going back to save the Big John photograph from the street (tears, man... tEArS)
John B being a major wuss while Sarah is cleaning his wound
NEVER having the gun when actually needed
ALWAYS having the gun when it could get you in major trouble
JJ taking the blame to save Pope
JB’s finger guns after his first kiss with Sarah (John B you smooth mf...)
that opening shot in ep.4 zooming in on the boat through the storm clouds
everybody being collectively surprised to see JB in a school building
the blood splattering against the window of the car with JJ and his dad in it (terrible scene, A+ effect!)
JJ sneaking through the swamp with a backpack on his head
the actor of Sarah’s dad managing to give you the creeps with some subtle crazy eyes even before it turns out he’s actually crazy
Kie fooling Pope with her British accent
Rose thinking she’s some kind of High Priestess at the midsummers party
John B putting a bow tie on JJ
BROMANCE™ (alternative title)
JJ delivering the note dancing flirtatiously
Sarah thinking pushing John B down would magically have made him invisible to Topper watching them for thE LAST 5 MINUTES??!
JJ twirling Kie around when leaving the Kook party
Topper accidently confessing his creepy-stalker-love to a 13 year old
Kie slapping John B
John B slapping Kie
violence is not the answer, kids! but I guess these were friendly slaps, so it’s okay
JB telling Sarah how “everything’s fine” with the Pogues and then cutting to it being definitely not
John B saying: “I don’t give a shit if she’s an axe murderer” and Pope making this face: 😲
a brilliant plan being ruined by a porch light
everybody constantly shitting on 1... 2... 3!
is that a The Shining reference I’m seeing????
how tf did it take them so long to realize she’s blind I-
and then once they did, Sarah states: “that bitch can’t aim” ???
like yeah, obviously, you just said it yourself sHE’S BLIND!!!????
anywho, John B not even bothering to fake excitement over the fishing trip
JJ finding “that’s what she said” disproportionately funny
the group wordlessly agreeing that somebody should probably look after JJ at the drug dealer’s
Sarah confidently telling JB she’s a virgin without it being all awkward (rare sight in teen shows back in my day)
Pope’s “Thrasher” shirt (like damn that’s off brand, but funny!)
JJ getting floaties for drinks in the whirlpool
the Whirlpool Group Hug™
JB telling Sarah goodbye before the fishing trip and me deadass thinking for a sec that he set an alarm to creep into his gf’s room in the middle of the night
Ward having sOmE NErVE to interrogate JB after killing his father (and later basically calling Rafe a psycho?!! like bitch get a mirror and baptized, thank you)
John B driving through the fence at the airport
Sarah yelling at her dad “you’re gonna kill him” like that’s gonna stop him lol
the cop at the airport giving us real talk about what police first aid training probably looks like
JB wanting to tell the cops what happened out of the goodness of his heart
Wheezie sticking up for her sister
Rafe calling John B a maniac (the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, I see)
JB locking himself in, in a house with Topper (like god damn, Karma’s a bitch huh)
Sarah, a teenage girl mind you, getting away from a trained-special-force-FBI-whatever-cop-dude in full armor by KNEEING him
Rafe talking to his Emotional Support Dealer™
the Pogues standing up to their parents for frIEnDsHIp!!!
JJ about to play “Operation” on his dad to get the keys
the missed opportunity to use “I Shot The Sheriff” on the soundtrack
I’m still a bit salty....
JB getting out of the cop car like that’s just normal
Pope going to shake Kie’s hand to make up
Sarah making it just in time
Ward being the “final card” lmao
Pope’s fam taking JJ into their group hug
the chill fisherman dude (with a wild romantic past?) taking in JB and Sarah
I demand a spin-off for that guy’s story btw
I’m so sorry for how long this must’ve taken to read. Seems like a good time to remind you that there’s more though:
pt.2 - The Best Quotes From OUTER BANKS
It’s a great show (even though in parts I would’ve preferred them to step off the cheese grater a little bit). Overall (aside from the obviously heavy themes), it reminds me of all the Australian teen shows I used to watch growing up (mixed with “the Outsiders” maybe?) and it makes me actually a bit excited for summer.
And I hate summer, so that’s saying something!

Home Sweet Home Sanguine Lifestyle - Valerie

---
It was almost suffocating to be under Ryan's constant watch by proxy. As often as she tried to avoid Brimstone, Valerie found herself face to face with the troll almost all the time, even though this hospital-turned-hideout is far too big for five people, a cat, and two drones. Though, one of the drones is much more feline than robotic, she thinks.
The shaman often tried to plead with Brimstone to leave her alone sometimes, so she could get enough room to breathe, but he often reminded her about her betrayal to the crew, and how it was because of her that Ryan had to destroy their home – the Club Sanguine. She wanted to fight with the vampire that it wasn't her fault, that was she being used by Catherine, and that she grew to love everyone, but no matter how genuine she made herself sound, it wasn't convincing. It didn't help that every time she saw Carmen with that man it hurt her heart.
But, perhaps, it's not because of what Valerie thinks.
After a week had gone by, Valerie mustered up the courage to find Carmen in a library, reading a Russian novel. She had quickly noticed that the decker was one arm less than normal, but was able to flip a page coolly. The shaman took a deep breath as she approached her. “Crime and Punishment, eh?” she said with a brief laugh.
Carmen blinked as she turned to her, then grinned. “It's an interesting read, even though I mess up with the Russian pronunciations.” She shut the book over her lap and readjusted herself on the couch to get comfortable.
“Isn't that man Russian himself? Didn't he teach you?”
“Racter? Uh, he tried to... but decided to stop when I was drunk one night, and ran into his workshop to tell him something in Russian. I don't remember what it is that I said, but I could tell that he was very disappointed in me. Or was he very angry?” She paused to reflect, then shrugged. “I don't remember. Either way, it's been quite a while since then, so I forgot how to speak the language, and I can't read it, so... yeah.” She giggled.
“I see...” Valerie forced out a laugh. “You and him seem... very close.”
Carmen looked at her with a small smile then sighed. “I know that it bothers you a lot, Val. It hurts that I can't return your feelings, but I can't lie to you. It wouldn't be healthy for either of us...”
Valerie pressed her bandaged fingers together as she lowered her head. “It does, Carmen... it hurts so much, that I can't describe it.” She balled up her hands as she struggled to keep her voice from cracking. “But, that isn't the only thing that hurts. I...” She stopped to take a deep breath. “You... had history with Catherine too, didn't you?”
“How did you...?”
“I worked for Catherine, Carmen. She told me all about you when you first started to work for Ryan. How you and her were together years ago. She... used you to get to me, because guess what? I loved her too!” Valerie mocked laugh while rubbing her water eyes. “She used honeyed words to make me believe that she could give me anything I want... That she and her husband had an open relationship, even though I never met him before... She lied to me, to keep my hopes up for a better life... but she was the one who ruined me at the same time.” She tugged her veil over her bandaged face. “All these injuries and scars... are because of her. Catherine caused that car accident that Ryan had saved me from. I didn't want to believe it at first, but now, after all of this... I have to face it.”
She then turned to Carmen with tears soaking up the gauze wrapped around her face. “When we first met, you reminded me so much of her, that I thought I fell in love with you. I looked up to you, and adored you, so much so that I wanted to help you. The medicine was supposed to... work.”
“The medicine you gave me to help me with my suicidal thoughts?” Carmen asked.
“Y-yes... I... used it to mellow your thoughts... and I tried to use my magic to convince you that you should join me... but... I could never do it.”
Carmen said nothing as she stared at Valerie with an impassive smile.
“I'm... sorry, Carmen. You don't have to forgive me, but I wanted to get this off my chest. I... I'm...”
“Enough of that,” Brimstone interrupted, grabbing both of the ladies' attentions. “Valerie, Ryan wants to speak to you.”
The shaman nodded as she got up from the couch. “I assume he has been listening?”
The troll said nothing as he stepped aside to let Valerie pass. She took on last look at Carmen for a brief moment, before leaving her alone with her novel.
As much as she wanted to continue reading, the decker decided it would be best to let the information sink in. Carmen knew all too well what Valerie was going through, given that she was once in the same position herself several years ago, but what Valerie had confessed to was very unforgivable.
It was similar to what Catherine had done to her before, by putting the blame on Carmen to send her to prison in her stead.
How unfortunate, she thought.

Good Evening Ch2 (Not a Request)
AO3 Link Summary: Charlie ends up getting a talk with her parents and Angelo hangs out with his girl-buddy, while getting an unknown message in the middle of the night. Words: 1,543 Well, this came rather quickly! This is so much fun to write and I hope you guys enjoy this second chapter. By the way, Cherri’s human design is based on @hanekdraws’ design. Enjoy! ~~~ The three traveled back to Charlie’s parents’ home and they stood outside the large three-story mansion. Charlie stared up at the black metal gates that had her family’s emblem decorated on it. She was about to press the button to allow themselves in, but then noticed Vaggie and Angel Dust walking away. She turned to them and asked, “Where are you two going? Shouldn’t we stick together? What if that creep ends up-”
Vaggie calmed her down by walking up to her and giving her a kiss on the cheek, “It’s okay, Charlie. I’m sure that Al guy isn’t around. It’s just that the hotel is without management and…your parents aren’t always…thrilled whenever I’m around.”
The golden-haired girl scoffed, “Pffftt! Whaaaaaat! No! My parents adore y-” she stopped when she saw Vaggie’s blank stare. She cleared her throat and finished, “Uh…they’re okay, but I won’t force you. What about you, Angelo?” Angelo shrugged, leaning against a wall, “I promised a buddy that I’d visit her tonight. Besides, I need ta get off of the streets before any of Val’s goons start realizin’ his absence. So long, dykes!”
He gave a mock salute before walking off, ignoring Vaggie shouting insults at him in Spanish. Vaggie huffed and then hugged Charlie before walking off, giving her a small wave. Charlie waved back and gave a small sigh before clicking a button that recognized her fingerprint, allowing her to go inside the yard. ~~~ Charlie snuck through the front door and realized how dark it was in the house. That wasn’t a huge surprise, it was past midnight. She crept through the foyer and went walking towards the double curved staircases that made a vague apple shape in the middle. The moment that she got close to one of the steps, a light clicked on and it illuminated an area in the middle of the staircase. Sitting in a rococo chair was Charlie’s father and on his lap was his wife, who was getting her hair stroked slowly. Her father spoke with a large grin on his face, “And where have you been, young lady?”
Charlie flinched and turned to her father, “Hey, dad! I, uh, I-I was just doing some late n-night studying with Vaggie and…why is mom in your lap?”
Her father answered as if it were obvious, “Razzle and Dazzle were asleep and we don’t have a cat. So…why not your mother is a better question.”
The mother shrugged and replied, “Lucifer thought that this would be intimidating.”
“And it is! Right, Lilith!?”
“It really isn’t, my dear, but I’ve always admired your enthusiasm~ Anyway, Charlie, answer your father,” Lilith said, slightly narrowing her eyes at her daughter. Despite having a calm smile, Charlie could easily see icy judgement in her mother’s eyes as if she was staring into her soul. She gulped as she turned to her parents and replied, “Well, uh, as you can tell, I came from outside. So, that’s where I was.”
Lilith raised an eyebrow at her and sighed, standing up and ignoring Lucifer’s whimpering at her leaving his lap. “Really, darling? Just outside? Look, it’s alright. Luci and I both know where you’ve been.”
Her daughter winced and asked, “You..Y-You do?”
Lilith nodded and then continued on, “Of course…if you wish to see your girlfriend, then you may, but you don’t have to sneak out. It’s a bit dramatic, don’t you think?”
Charlie blinked at her and wasn’t too sure what to say next, since she was shocked that they think that’s why she left. Granted, “wondering what your somewhat friend has been up to in the dead of night and accidentally killing a possible mob boss” is a bit of a stretch. However, it was still odd that that was the conclusion, especially since she’s always encouraging- why is she thinking about this so hard? She just got a “get out of jail free” card and she isn’t taking that!? Charlie shook herself out of her shocked state and chuckled nervously, “W-Well, sorry, but…it seems like you guys don’t like her.”
Lucifer hummed as he got up and stretched out, “Well…we don’t, but that doesn’t mean we should keep you away from your true love. Not even an act of God can keep me from my deadly nightshade~” He wrapped his arms around Lilith’s waist and she looked at him as if he were her martyr. Luci then walked up to Charlie and ruffled her hair, reassuring, “You can love whoever you wish, sweetie, just give us a heads up when you leave, okay? Now, I need to get some rest. I’ve got to go listen to a bunch of bores talk about this shitshow of a town.”
He then walked up the stairs, making Charlie watch him in confusion. She turned to her mother and asked, “Can you tell me how dad became mayor again?” Lilith answered, walking past her, “Blackmail can be such a wonderful thing, Charlie. Now, let’s get to bed. Oh! One more thing,” she glanced over her shoulder and looked at her daughter from the corner of her eye, “I have no idea what you did tonight, but you will confess. You look as if you’ve been out in dirt and even paler than ever. You can’t keep secrets, Charlie. Secrets hardly keep here. …Goodnight, sweetheart! Kissies!”
She then practically flew over to her daughter to pepper her face with kisses before going back up the stairs. Charlie’s legs gave out on her as she mumbled, “Oh shit…” ~~~ “Thanks for lettin’ me crash ‘ere, Cherri,” Angelo spoke, stretching out on the couch and wearing an off-the-shoulder sweater from his girl-buddy’s closet. Cherri flopped onto the couch on top of Angelo, covering his face with her red and golden hair, and grinned, “No probs. Plus, this keeps my roommate from coming back home. The stiff is such a shithead, I swear. I’m just surprised that Val is allowing you to stay over.”
Angelo felt himself stiffen up and his throat tighten as an image of Valentino’s dead boy flashed. The man wasn’t torn up about his death, but what may come because of it…he really wasn’t looking forward to that. He felt Cherri flip onto her stomach and move forward. He saw her freckled, naturally blushed face, and concerned brown eyes. She asked him, “Hey, you alright? He ain’t giving you shit, is he?”
The boy pushed his hair back and he was about to speak, but stopped when his phone vibrated. He took out his phone and saw a text from an unknown number. He was expecting it to be Velvet or anyone else, honestly.
Unknown: Package has been dealt with! You may praise me now!
Cherri looked at Angelo’s phone over his shoulder and cooed, “Oh~ Who you talkin’ to~?”
Angelo scoffed, clicking his phone screen off, “Hell if I know. It’s some random numba.”
His phone buzzed again and he groaned as he got ready to tell the person that they had the wrong number, just to immediately feel his blood go cold.
Unknown: This is Al, by the way. I hope you don’t mind the sudden texting, just figured this was more convenient.
How the hell did he get his number? Angelo never took out his phone once with Smiles around. “You never told me about an Al? Who’s Al?” Cherri asked with a wide smile, not at all realizing that this was a man that helped him and the others hide a body. The hell was he supposed to say? Angelo bit his lip and replied, “Oh, it ain’t much. He’s a, uh, regular customer. Nothin’ that big.”
She scoffed, “Nothing that big?? You don’t care for regulars! This is somethin’ special! Text him back, goof!”
The mob-child gave a nervous chuckle as he texted back to Al.
Angelo: Hope you didn’t get that package too fixed, baby, need something to fill me~
God, this was fucking stupid! He was flirting with this dumbass that somehow got his number and he didn’t even fucking know how. Angelo was really hoping that he wouldn’t respond back, but a message popping up on his screen crushed his dreams quickly.
Unknown: Oh? You need to be filled? Well, if you were hungry, you could have told me so. I am quite the master chef, you know?
Cherri gave a loud snort and mumbled something about Al being a dork, which…yeah he was. That was a pretty odd response. Another message popped up:
Unknown: Perhaps I can feed you tomorrow and maybe the other two lovely ladies. I just need to pop on by the station tomorrow, but that’ll be fairly quick. I’m mostly on in the mornings.
Angelo felt Cherri get off of him and said something about snacks, but he wasn’t really listening. He didn’t want to see this guy again. I mean, he seemed alright, but there was something that made him feel…weird. Angelo quickly texted him that he would take a raincheck on those dinner plans. He sighed as he got ready to block the number, but then stopped as Al’s message popped up on screen. It read:
Unknown: Oh, Angelo…that wasn’t a question.

‘fly on the wall’ [BaileyRichard, because Bailey wants to hear his boo say nice things about him uwu]
Fly on the wall: Bailey
Convo between Richard and Val
A/n:I know we mention at time them living together so I went for that step in the relationship
meme: do a drabble
me: whats a drabble :,D
____
Richard was just standing at the bay window of his cafe’ watching the rain pouring down outside. Usually raining days brought more business in but it was just a slow night. Richard felt, restless. He was thinking about something that had come up the other day.
“Sulking cause you haven’t seen you’re boyfriend?” Valiere teased him from behind the counter.
“im not sulking” He sharply replied back with.
Valiere looked at his foot and watched as he tapped it on the floor, how he held his arms crossed over his chest and dramatically had his head resting against the glass of the window. The rain washing over it really set the mood, god he was a drama king.
Part of her wonder if he chose to stand there for that reason alone. For such a stoic guy he was pretty expressive in other ways.
“You’re sulking.” She replied back with rolling her eyes as she smiled.
But she could tell he was thinking about something, she step around the counter and made her way over. Hoping up to sit on the cushion bench set up in the bay window.
“Okay spill.”
Richard flicked his eyes down to her and raised an eyebrow a moment.
“Whats on your the oh so benevolent gods mind that has him in such a sour mood.” She smiled up at him of course having to take a shot at his ego. She was the only one who did.
Richard mulled it over a moment then sighed, maybe it be good to talk to her. He took a seat next to her and tip his head back able to feel the cold from the outside coming from the window. “Bailey mentioned moving in together.”
Valiere’s interest was peeked now, she kind of understood the reason behind how he was actting. Richard never dated anyone really, he was a bachelor for life he mentioned to her once. Then after meeting Bailey he changed took forever but they finally started to date and everything seemed to be going well.  This was a big step it kind of excited her to hear they were getting more serious. She adored Bailey he was fun and they razzed Richard together when he came over. She approved of him for Richard so hearing things were moving like this was good. But a second looked towards Richard had her wondering a bit about why that had him like this.
“So is that a bad thing?” She pressed, crossing her legs to get comfortable
Richard rolled his head over to look at the robin. He looked unsure how to answer, eyes moving around as he thought, slow loosening his hold on his arms as he dropped them to his sides. “I don’t think so?”
Val looked at him a moment, “Are you scared?”
“Terrified.” Richard confessed, it was easy to tell her these things. He turned his head to look back up at the celling. “I’ve never be so scared in my whole life, i’m pretty sure when I left I told him I had to shower the dog?”
Valiere tried not to laugh but she failed Richard couldn’t blame her, he had no idea what that was about himself. But after her snicker clamed down she looked back at the golden eagle. He never done anything like this before so of course he was scared. Never even used to have partners over at his place until Bailey. She knew he loved Bailey, and that Bailey loved him. Heck she knew it before they knew it they were so painfully obvious about it too. She shifted a bit turned towards him getting an idea. As she held up her hands.
“Look left is for the cons, right is for the pros. So five each. Just list as it comes to mind. State if its a pro or a con of course, and which ever you hit five for first means if you’re ready or not deal?” She smiled after explained. Richard looked back to her after giving her childish answer. “Don’t be a prick do you wanna have to buy a dog to cover you’re dumb lie?”
Richard just shrugged and sat up looking at her hands a moment.  tapping her left thumb first, this was her usual way of helping Richard. “Well I wouldn’t have privacy any more, unless coming here for one.” he tapped her left pointer finger next “I’d never have a peaceful morning again, since Bailey is always wanting my attention” Left middle finger got tapped next “He be able to annoy me any time he wants.”
Val looked at her hands moment, worried because of how he was breezing through the cons ready to tap the next finger on her left, before stopping. he moved and tapped her right thumb instead.
“I get to wake up to seeing him first thing. And I like that.” Richard smiled “He whimpers in his sleep sometimes and just cuddles into me.” He tapped her left finger “I can keep a better eye on him, to make sure hes taking better care of himself...he really needs to be kinder to himself.” tapped her right middle finger next “I can have more of those nice moments with him like when he feels the urge to come up and hug me from behind. I like that a lot too, how nice and loved a touch from him makes me feel.” He tapped the next finger on her right hand “Going home being the same place as Bailey sounds..really nice.” He tapped her right pinky next “I love him.”
Val just smiled and held up her right hand to show him what he knew and he just smiled. “Okay, okay maybe i’m not against it then” He glanced back out the window behind them. “I really do care about him and as scary as this can be...being with him makes it better. I mean we spend a lot of time together already. over at my place or his, there times we stay a couples days at the others. And thats always been fun.”
“I don’t wanna hear about your kinky sex times.”
Richard just chuckled “That wasn’t what I meant. It just feels nice being domestic with Bails. Stupid little dances with him, how he plops himself into my lap when Im trying to work from home. How he sits on the counter well I cook...I can’t trust him to cook or be alone in the kitchen anymore.” He interrupted with a moment “Just looks so happy when we get comfortable on the couch together. the way he cuddles up against me, coos my name in the adorable tone flutters his eyes up at me.” Richard smiled a big stupid grin on his beak thinking of Bailey. “How he worries about my work habits, ironic since he claims im the one to nag...though he’s right I do.” Yeah richard enjoy the sex and such but it was that stuff he liked with Bailey too. the playful bricking in the morning, the teaseing when he caught Richard praising himself in the mirror. Richard grew quite a moment
“I love him so damn much Val, I want to stay with him as long as is allowed.”
Valiere tilted her head at that “Allowed?” she asked
He nodded a bit looking back at her again. “I mean sure this is coming up but how long till I chase him off you know? How long till he gets tried of me? how till he changes his mind and gains his senses?”
Valiere just placed her hand on his shoulder and he sighed a bit. She never realized how much he really was in love. to a point he expected it to end even. “Has Bailey ever done anything to show that could happen?”
Richard shook his head “no...he kind of takes me as I am. Hes seen parts of me I try to hide and just.” He sighs again “God Bailey is amazing to me in truth. I’m so lucky that the person I fell for was Bailey. Hes a mess but he gets me. He makes me laugh so easily. Hes my favorite person in the world...the love of my life. I honestly can see us together long term even. I think hes honestly the one for me even. When were together it feels right. Yeah he annoys the hell out of me and he is a utter brat...but I don’t hate it. He makes me want to be a better person..someone worth being with him you know?” He just smiled gently to himself. “I more than love that idiot of mine, I adore him. I care for him...god he worries me sometimes.”
Val just nodded she understood why but it was cute how Richard got worried over the rooster.
“I guess yeah I’m scared but if it’s Bailey I can do it?”
She smiled and held her hand up in a fist, he smiled back and did the same. Gently bumming his fist against hers. Their little thing to say I got this, and I got you too. He leaned back against the window he felt a bit more laxed now if it got brought up again he could actually talk it over with Bailey now.
“I still wasn’t sulking.” He added in
“Pft yeah sure okay drama king. Oh im sorry should that be God of Drama? since you are a god on the earth gracing the mortals with your exsitence” Valier said in turn.
“yes you should” Richard responded back with
“God you’re so full of yourself.” Val just retorted with as she lead back aginst the window too.

Safe - Chapter Three - A Second Sneak Peek
Thank you @skammerlife for helping me decide which one of these to post (and decided on a little chaos) so here you go. I’m exhausted and I’ll probably be asleep soon after posting this, in all honesty. But, I hope you guys enjoy this second sneak peek at the rest of the next chapter of Safe, which I do hope to get up as soon as I can. I feel so baaaaad taking this long to write it, but it’s been hectic with mid-terms and presentations and ugh.
Anyways, enough of my adulting troubles, enjoy!
...
Sander didn’t believe in the idea of fate.
Fate was something that you couldn’t control. Fate was something that you left to the whim of something that you couldn’t choose, something you couldn’t control, something that you simply were waiting for to happen, for things to happen for a reason. Fate seemed like something that you waited around for and Sander hated waiting for things to happen.
And, so, Sander didn’t like fate.
Sander liked being the director of his own life, like he told Robbe, choosing which paths he chose, whether it be a person or a thing. He chose to kiss Laura, he chose to stay with Britt, he had taken one look at Robbe and chose that he was the one for him, and he chose to move apartments to get away from the wandering eyes of Estelle. Every choice, every act, every breath that Sander had done in life or taking, that he was proud of and choices that he was ashamed of, was something that he had chosen to do and he owned up to it.
And, that philosophy of his, the one that he lived by, that he used to justify anything that he had done, both the good and the bad, is exactly why this was so confusing.
The restaurant that Sophie had chosen for lunch, for the three of them to meet up and hang out between sets and Val’s lunch break, had been on the other end of town and Sander had never heard of it before. The artist had decided to take the bus to see what kind of people he could sketch on the way there, in the back, huddled beneath his hoodie and leather jacket. The restaurant had been down the street from Val’s work which was lucky because his meeting ran late and the two of them had to order food without him. Sophie had decided that she wanted to walk over to a store before she returned to her set and, because Val went to work, Sander was dragged along.
“Oh, look, Sander,” Sophie had teased, dragging him behind her. She gestured to the shop beside her and Sander rolled his eyes, staring at the tuxedo shop. “I’m sure that if you dress like you aren’t in some 1980s American movie, you might get twice the admirers.” It was a tease and Sander had to smile, but he thought of Robbe and his brown hair and clothes a size too big and the way he liked Sander exactly like he was, and it made him a little bit sad.
He thought of Robbe, of the picture that Sander had sent him, drawn in the middle of the night when he had woken up from a dream that felt too real, was too real, and he had to get it down on paper. He had sent it to Robbe on a whim, a silent declaration of what they could’ve been in the universe where Sander never sent that message, but it had been left unanswered and Sander didn’t blame him for not responding.
Sander didn’t believe in fate.
But, glancing into the tuxedo store that Sophie had pointed out, on their way to a shoe store that Sophie had to check out, and spotting the profile of the man that he had been thinking about, his brown-haired skater boy that had been filling his head all week, all weekend, the past several days, it made it difficult for Sander to scoff at the idea of fate. He felt his chest tighten as he struggled to breathe, moving towards the tuxedo shop and feeling his hand on the door before Sophie’s voice pulled him out of it.
“Sander?” she questioned.
Sander looked towards her. “Give me a second? I’ll meet you at the shoe shop.”
Sophie’s eyes were wide, confused evident, but she nodded her head, moving down the street. Sander stepped into the tuxedo shop and as soon as the door shut behind him, he caught sight, fully of Robbe. He was standing on the platform, dressed in a tux that fit him a little too well, and Sander was almost ashamed at his primal instinct to tear it off of him. Sander liked Robbe in his normal clothes, a size too big and hanging off of him, but this, clothes that fit perfectly and a tux no less… he wouldn’t say no to that.
Sander opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn’t, closing his mouth. He steeled his nerves, opening out and somehow managing to emit a “Hey.”
The look on Robbe’s face is priceless.
Robbe turned, shock and surprise written plainly over his face. His mouth dropped open slightly and his eyes went wide. Sander had always thought that Robbe’s eyes reminded him of an innocent deer, but this look that he had right now was definitely a deer caught in headlights, confused and bewildered and maybe a little scared as he stared at Sander. He could feel his heart thump nervously in his chest, watching as Robbe’s eyes flittered over Sander’s figure too.
“Sander,” Senne spoke and Sander hadn’t even realized that Senne was there. Sander looked over, spotting the brunet standing off the edge of the platform. His arms were crossed over his chest and there was a hardened look in his eyes as he glanced between them. Though he was smiling, understanding and protectiveness flared in his eyes, a silent message conveyed in them. “Long time no see.”
It wasn’t, and Sander felt like that was the point.
But, the sight of Senne had made him smile more. “Senne,” he replied. “It’s been a bit.”
Senne nodded his head, glancing towards Robbe. Sander did the same, spotting the confused look on the skater boy’s face and saw him turn towards Senne for an explanation. “Remember when I moved out of the flatshare when Zoë and I broke up?” Robbe nodded his head. “Sander and I were roommates in another flatshare.”
“Oh,” Robbe replied, sounding like he couldn’t believe it.
Senne’s eyes flickered back over to Sander before he turned completely towards Robbe. “I’ll go see what’s taking the two of them so long.” Robbe had nodded in response and Senne was already moving away from them.
Sander took a tentative step closer, wanting to wrap Robbe up his arms, kiss him until neither one of them could breathe, until he couldn’t deny how much Sander loved him, but he shoved his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket and waited. “Okay,” Robbe had already pivoted, calling towards Senne, who turned back towards him. “Don’t forget that you have to try one on too. You are the one getting married after all.”
Senne grinned at Robbe, smug and confident, “I’ll wait until you get back in your baggy clothes. Don’t want to show you up and you get jealous.”
In Sander’s personal opinion, he thought that it was physically impossible to show up Robbe, especially when he was looking like that, but he elected not to say anything, his eyes already moving hurriedly over Robbe’s entire body, trying to commit it all to memory, because he looked absolutely beautiful.
Robbe stepped down from the platform and Sander glanced up, his green eyes meeting Robbe’s brown. He glanced quickly to where Senne had disappeared, and Robbe turned to look, but he felt a little relieved that the two of them were alone. Robbe returned to face Sander, a cautious look in his eyes.
In his chest, he felt his heart begin to break a little. Robbe had never been cautious around Sander. He had followed Sander halfway across the city, followed him into the darkness and (naked) into a pool, he had been quick to wrap his arms around Sander, cling to him like a koala, peppering kisses against his cheeks and jaw until Sander had to push him away so he could breathe. To see him cautious around Sander, it hurt because he had known that he fucked up, but no more so than now.
“Hey,” Sander breathed out.
“Hey,” Robbe echoed. Sander wanted to say something about how good he looked in the tux, but Robbe beat him to opening his mouth and forming a complete sentence, asking, “What are you doing here?”
Sander blinked. That hadn’t been the question that he was expecting to hear. “I was having lunch with some friends and saw you so I thought that I would come in and say hi,” Sander replied, gesturing to the door behind him. Robbe’s face twisted downward, barely, hardly noticeable, but Sander thought that he had said something wrong. Biting down on his lip, Sander confessed, “You look nice.”
It was the understatement of the year.
“Thanks.”
Sucking in a breath, he took a chance, feeling the flirtatious lift in his voice, his eyes already moving from Robbe’s face and down his body, like his own eyes were unable to stop themselves, as he spoke, “I’d rate you five stars on booking.com.”
Robbe sucked in a breath. “How was that girl at the club?”
Sander’s eyes snapped back up to Robbe’s and he asked, just to make sure, “Huh?”
“At the party on Saturday,” Robbe continued. His fingers reached up, grasping at the dark red fabric of the tie and pulling at it. Sander might’ve never seen him angry before, but he could practically see the simmering anger beneath Robbe’s shoulders. “The girl that you were dancing with and kissing.”
Sander hadn’t been dancing, but Laura had been, and he had swayed to her touch, hoping to forget his own stupidity at making this beautiful man in front of him so angry at him. But, Robbe didn’t want to hear that and Sander didn’t know what to say to make it better, whispering out a defeated “Oh” to let him know that he had heard.
“What was she?” Robbe questioned, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Nothing compared to you,” Sander confessed, feeling suddenly defeated.
It’s not hard to see the eye roll and Sander didn’t need to be a genius to figure out that Robbe didn’t believe a word that he had said. Shame welled in his stomach as Robbe turned away. He, Sander, had done this. There was nothing that Sander wanted to do more than kiss Robbe right there, turn back the clock to never send that text, Estelle be damned, because he couldn’t stand the thought of Robbe looking so defeated and upset at the sight of him.
Robbe turned away and without thinking of what might happen next, Sander moved to follow, “Robbe, wait.”
“Sander,” Robbe whispered, turning back towards him. There was an unsure look still present in Robbe’s eyes and it filled his voice too. In addition, he sounded sad, a lot like Sander felt, and his own heart ripped a little more in his chest. “I don’t understand what’s going on.”
Swallowing, Sander whispered, “I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I’m already hurting.”
That is what broke Sander’s heart the most. Because, he could see it in his eyes, past the brown hues that held Robbe’s Bambi eyes, the ones that lit up his entire face when he was happy, and pulled down his entire face when he was sad. And, now, it was the latter and Sander was the one who had done that, who caused that look to be there, and he hung his head in shame.
Robbe stepped away from him and the front door opened, letting in a burst of cold air.
“Come,” Sophie whispered, her cold hand grabbing his own as she tugged him out of the store. Sander let himself sway to her pull. “Let’s get you home.”

Peter tapped his foot as he listened to the new group talent Walkman Records was planning to sign. Natasha discovered The Revengers after watching their videos online realizing they had a distinct refreshing sound people would love. Val, their lead singer, could tell a story through her voice while her bandmates helped bring the story to life. Thor, a tall not so handsome guy, strummed the guitar, Heimdall beat on the bass, and Bruce played the drums. They were a great group of individuals, and he couldn’t wait to see where their career would take them.
Bucky sat beside Peter, listening to Val’s voice as he adjusted a few marks on the soundboard. Once he was satisfied, he leaned back in his chair to enjoy the rest of the song. Peter mouthed along to Val’s lyrics, getting lost in her song when someone tapped him on the shoulder.
“Mantis, I told you not to interrupt us unless it’s an emergency. Buck and I are in the middle of a session,” Peter remarked, swinging his chair around to face her.
“Sorry, but there is someone on the phone saying it is an emergency and needs to speak with you,” Mantis replied in a soft voice, looking a little shaken.
“Is it the same boy from Queens who keeps calling coming up with random reasons to get us to sign his girlfriend?”
“No, it’s a woman. She threatened to break my arm if I don’t get you on the phone right away.”
“Okay, well that doesn’t narrow it down,” Peter sighed, running a hand down his face. “Did you get a name?”
“Gamora,” Mantis whispered in a frightened tone.
“Sounds like something she would do. I’ll take the call in my office.” He stood up, nudging Bucky to let him know he needed to take a call. Bucky nodded as Peter stepped out of the room. He hasn’t spoken to Gamora since you broke up with him years ago, so why would she be trying to contact him now? “Hey Gamora, still threatening people I hear. What’s it been like......seven years?”
“Yup. It gets things done faster, and it’s pretty handy when it comes to my job.”
“I heard you’re a big-time lawyer these days, but I can’t say I‘m not surprised.”
“Whatever, Peter. I didn’t call to make small talk with you.” Gamora paused. “I know you and YN didn’t end on the best of terms, but I promised her that if anything happened to her I would call and tell you…”
“Wait, hold on a second--” he interrupted her “--what happened to YN?”
“She was in an accident this morning.”
“Shit, is she okay?” Peter inquired, running his hand through his hair. “I mean, why would I care? We broke up years ago.”
“Okay, I'll try to believe that.” He could picture Gamora rolling her eyes through the phone. “I still haven’t heard anything, since she went into surgery. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing at this point.” She cleared her throat. “Can you swing by the hospital? I need to talk to you about something important.”
“Ahhhh….what is this about? YN and I broke up ages ago. Besides, I’m at work, and I got a lot on my plate right now.”
“I wasn’t asking Peter, I’m telling you. It’s the least you could do after breaking my sister’s heart.”
“You had to go there, didn’t you,” Peter sighed, staring down at his desk in defeat. He should know by now that Gamora never loses a fight once she starts one. “Okay fine, I’ll be there in an hour.”
“Perfect. We’ll see you then, I’ll text you the details.”
They exchanged numbers before hanging up, and he went back into the recording studio. The room was quiet, and he noticed the empty sound booth. Nat must’ve taken them into her office to discuss the contract. He groaned, plopping down in the chair next to Bucky.
“Whoa man, you look like you’ve seen a ghost,” Bucky commented, taking in his appearance.
“I have to go meet a friend. Are you and Nat going to be fine without me for a couple of hours?”
“Yeah, it shouldn’t be a problem. Everything’s okay, man?” Bucky narrowed his eyes, moving his long hair out of his face.
“I hope so.”
_________
Peter pulled up to the hospital not sure what he was expecting. He wasn’t dating you anymore, but he didn’t want to see you hurt. He went up to the waiting room Gamora mentioned, but no one was there besides the nurses behind the desk.
“Excuse me,” the nurse at the station looked up at him with a warm smile. “Is YN LN out of surgery?”
She flipped through some files on her desk before clicking away on her computer. “She is still in surgery, but the doctors will be with you as soon as they can. You’re welcome to take a seat and wait. Are you family?”
“Yes,” he nodded without a second thought. He took a seat in the waiting room, running his hands through his hair and down his face. You were still in surgery, which could mean two things: everything was good and they were taking their time, or it was worse than they anticipated. He glanced at the television seeing a reporter speaking about the accident you were in. He read the subtitles as they drifted across the screen.
“On this mornings commute, a dump truck flew through a red light colliding into the side of a bus forcing it to topple over onto its side. We have gotten reports saying at least 12 are injured, but their conditions remain unknown at this time. As paramedics work hard to get everyone to safety, police are still investigating the cause of the accident. I will keep you updated on this story as it unfolds. Back to you in the studio…” Peter’s eyes turned away from the screen and back to the floor.
“Hello, Peter.” He glanced up to find Gamora with a little girl clutching onto her hand and eyeing him over. “You got here quick. Can we talk for a bit?”
“Yeah. Why else would I be here?”  He shrugged, standing up from his chair.
“Hey, Bug,” Gamora crouched down in front of the little girl with a caring smile on her face. “Would you be okay with hanging out over there for a little while?” She pointed to the children's playpen.
“Okay,” she nodded, ignoring the playpen to sit on one of the double-seated chairs. She pulled out an old green iPod and slipped in her earbuds as she tried to get comfortable. There was something about the little girl that seemed familiar to him, but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was.
“Someone finally snatched up the lawyer Gamora, who cared more about her career than settling down with some dude. Who’s the lucky guy?” A cocky smile spread across his face.
“She’s not mine. She’s YN’s daughter,” Gamora corrected him.
“Wait, what?” Peter’s smile faded away, leaving his mouth hanging open before he snapped it shut. “When….when did that happen?” He asked, widening his eyes at her.
“Little over 7 years ago.”
“She found a guy right after she left me. Awesome, like that doesn’t hurt my feeling a little bit.”
“Not exactly,” Gamora replied while Peter ignored her.
“It’s good though…..good for her. As long as she found someone who does right by her, and cares about her and makes her happy. I’m happy for her…..” he rambled on.
“Peter shut up.” His eyes snapped to hers as he shut his mouth. “YN’s had only one person in her life for the last 7 years, and it’s been her daughter.” He narrowed his eyes, not understanding where she was going with this. “Okay, I promised YN if anything ever happened to her I would tell you.”
“Tell me what?”
“The little girl over there--” she glanced in her direction “--is your daughter,” Gamora confessed in a hushed whisper, forcing Peter’s eyebrows to shoot up his forehead.
“What? No! No, no, no, no.” He shook his head not believing this. “It can't be! I would’ve known if YN was pregnant. She...she would’ve told me.”
“Really? Because the last I remember, you were halfway across the country when she found out.”
Gamora had him there. This must’ve all happened when he was at his internship in LA. How did he not know? Why didn’t he realize something was wrong? You always seemed so happy whenever he talked to you on the phone or through video chat.  “Why didn't she tell me?”
“YN tried to tell you, but she was afraid of how you’d react. Once she started to show, she knew she needed to tell you so she went to L.A. to surprise you and we both know how that turned out,” Gamora recalled, forcing Peter to clench his jaw. “I can’t tell you why she hasn’t told you because I don’t know why.” Gamora shrugged.
His eyes flickered over to the little girl swinging her legs back and forth in her seat. Her eyes connected with his for a split second before she focused back to her feet.  “What's her name?
“Meredith,” Gamora revealed, keeping a close eye on him.
Peter’s head snapped to her. “She named her after...after my mother.” Gamora nodded. He ran his hand through his hair, letting out a deep breath. “Why...um...do you..” He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to find the right words.
“YN wanted to name her after a strong woman,” Gamora filled in the blanks, making Peter crack a small smirk. “She’s a wonderful little girl. Strong headed and soft-hearted like her mother, but her quick-witted humor and love of music comes from her father.” He breathed a smirk, shaking his head at the little girl. “Can I ask you to do me a favor?”
“What’s the favor?”
“I’m due in court tomorrow, and I have to get caught up on what I missed today. Would you mind watching her tonight? I can't take her with me, and she’s too young to be left alone.”
“Ah...is this a good idea? She doesn’t even know me. Whatever happened to the whole stranger danger phase?”
“Trust me, you’re my last option.” Peter scoffed, forcing Gamora to roll her eyes. “If I could ask Nebula, I would, but she’s out of the country. I could ask a sitter, but Meredith hates them. She says they’re only in it for the money.”
He chuckled at her response. “Wait, hold on, you need me to take her tonight? Like tonight tonight? Right now.” He let out a deep breath as he glanced between Meredith and Gamora.
“What else would I mean by tonight? Meredith is smart for her age and if she needs anything she’ll ask for it.”
“Do you trust me to take care of her? I mean I once had a goldfish, and it died. I had a dog, but it ran away. This is an actual human being,” he emphasized, biting his lip to calm the nerves tingling in his stomach.
She rolled her eyes. “I don’t trust you after what you did to my sister, but you’re all I got at this point.”
“Psh.....that’s reassuring,” Peter scoffed, taking a deep breath to think it over.  “I have to move some things around, but she’s my daughter, and I should at least get to know her. Right?”
“That's the spirit.” Gamora patted him on the shoulder.
“Does she know who I am? Does she know anything about me?”
“YN’s told her some things, but as far as I know, she doesn’t know who you are.” He nodded, pushing his lips together in a tight line. Gamora walked over to Meredith with Peter in tow.  “Hey, Bug.” Gamora leaned down, placing a hand on Meredith’s arm as she took out her earbuds. “An old friend of your mom's is going to watch you tonight and tomorrow until I’m done with work. Do you think you could take care of him for me?”
Meredith peeked up at him through her eyelashes and scrunched up her face as she observed Peter. She was the spitting image of her mother, except for her eyes; she had his eyes. “I can’t promise anything, Gam,” she mumbled, shrugging her small shoulders.
“Hi, I'm Peter.” Peter held out his hand, and she reached up shaking it.
“I’m Meredith Quill.”
_________
Peter sat in the waiting room for what felt like hours. They still haven’t heard any news about your condition, and it was making him nervous. He didn’t want to lose you all over again especially after finding out he shared a daughter with you.  He had so many questions he wanted to ask you: Why didn’t you ever tell him? Did you think he would get upset and leave? Did you not think he was ready to be a father back then? What about today?
Peter flipped through a hospital magazine, keeping a close eye on Meredith. He still couldn’t get over the fact he had a daughter. She swung her legs back and forth in her chair as she mouthed along to the lyrics flowing through her earbuds. He smirked, knowing he did this at the studio all the time. Something in front of her caught her attention as a soft smile spread across her lips. Peter glanced in the direction to find a golden retriever.
Meredith shoved her iPod in her pocket as she approached the dog. He couldn’t hear the conversation between Meredith and the owner, but he suspected it was about petting his dog. The man nodded with a smile, and she knelt down scratching the dogs head as it licked her face. He couldn’t help but enjoy seeing her smile for the first time.
“Mer is more like you than you think,” Gamora commented, highlighting and reading through some documents a seat away from him.
“How so?”
“She loves animals and won’t leave the house without her iPod. Sure YN loves music, too, but the way Mer listens to it is a lot like you. She can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, too.”
“I think she gets that from her mother though,” he chuckled, making Gamora shake her head in amusement. Mer scratched the dogs head one last time before returning to her chair and her music.
“So, what has YN been up to?” Peter asked, scratching the scruff on his chin.
“Well--” she closed her file “--she’s been working at Potts of Honey for the past 4 years and…”
“Wow! What do they do there?”
“It’s a company helping parents and parents to be. They make all sorts of baby and toddler products, but they’re branching out to older age groups now, too. It’s a good company.” He nodded with pursed lips. “She also helps run a podcast for the company called Everyday's a Monday. It’s been a raging success and it’s helped the company’s brand grow.”
“What kind of podcast is it?”
“A parenting podcast,” Gamora informed, crossing her arms across her chest. “They talk about the latest trends in the industry and parents share their experiences hoping to help other parents. She loves her job.”
“I’m happy for her,” Peter nodded at the floor. “She always wanted to help people, and now she is. It’s great.”
“Her job keeps her busy when Mer isn’t,” she grinned at the little girl. “How’s business at Walkman Records?”
“Good. Natasha’s been finding a lot of great talent, and Bucky’s such an expert on the soundboard it’s insane. Wait, how did you even know where to find me?"
“My assistant found you,” Gamora confessed. “I learned a bit about your career, too. Like, how you and your two friends started Walkman Records six years ago after signing your first client. Somehow you became an overnight success and have been creating music with the best artists of our generation.”
“Hmm, your assistant really did her homework on me.”
“She wanted to keep her job. Excuse me for a second.” Peter nodded as Gamora got up and went to sit next to Mer. She smiled as Mer laid down using Gamora’s leg for a pillow and closed her eyes.
Peter pulled out his phone replying to a few emails while his thumb hovered over the podcast app. He wasn’t a huge podcast listener because he preferred listening to music rather than people talking. He bit his lip trying to figure out if he should download an episode to see what it was all about. He was curious. What did you talk about on there? Were you only the producer of the show or were you the host as well? Maybe he could hear your voice again or your addictive laugh. He shrugged as he started downloading the first couple episodes of Everyday’s a Monday.
_________
With still no word from the doctors, Peter could feel his stomach turning into knots, and his doubts started to set in. He didn’t want to think about it, but how could he not? He was about to assume the worst when two doctors dressed in scrubs stepped into the waiting room. Gamora noticed them and maneuvered herself out of Mer’s grasp, trying not to wake her. Peter shifted in his seat, so he could hear their conversation better.
“Hi, I’m Dr. Palmer, and this is my colleague Dr. Strange. YN is stable and out of surgery, but we wanted to tell you we did experience some complications.”
“What sort of complications?” Gamora asked, crossing her arms across her chest.
“At the scene, paramedics told us she was conscious and talking, insisting she was fine. Her only complaint was a massive headache and blurry vision. Medics brought her in right away but on the way she suffered a seizure. This forced us to run a quick CT scan, and we discovered a bleed in her brain. We believed she suffered a brain aneurysm from the accident, which led to her seizure. Once we found the bleed, we got her straight into surgery to repair it. This is when the complication during surgery set in causing her hemorrhaged and slip into a coma.”
“Is that normal? Is she going to be okay?” Gamora asked as Dr. Palmer looked to her colleague.
“It is hard to say at this time. We won’t know if she experienced any further damage mentally until she wakes up. Physically all she suffered was a couple of scrapes and bruises, but as of right now, all we can do is wait for her to wake up.”
“Thank you,” Gamora cleared her throat, earning a nod from both doctors. “Are we able to see her?”
“She is going to stay in recovery for the night and be monitored. We encourage you to go home to get some rest tonight so you will be a full 100% refreshed when you see her tomorrow,” Dr. Palmer reassured.
“Can we at least say goodbye to her before we go,” Mer piped up, sneaking up beside Gamora and grabbing her hand.  Dr. Palmer peered over at Dr. Strange, but he shook his head no.
“I’m guessing YN is your mother?” Dr. Palmer asked, kneeling down to her level. Meredith nodded. “I bet she would love to see you, too, but she is asleep right now. Your mom needs to rest so she can build her strength to keep up with you when she wakes up. I promise you’ll get to see her tomorrow.”
“I WANNA SEE HER NOW,” she cried, stomping back to the chair. She crossed her arms, staring hard at the table with her forehead scrunched up.
“Don’t worry I’ll talk to her,” Gamora told the doctors. “Thank you again.” The doctors smiled before walking away. Gamora let out a deep breath and pinched the bridge of her nose before going over to Meredith.
Gamora kneeled down in front of Mer setting her hands on each side of her. Peter could see her mouth moving, but he couldn’t make out the words she was saying. Meredith's arms loosen up around her, and she wiped her nose as Gamora pulled her into a quick hug. Gamora let go of her, and in an instant, she pulled her iPod back out of her pocket.
“What did you tell her,” Peter asked, staring at Mer who didn’t seem to be upset anymore.
“The truth.” Peter narrowed his eyes at her. “YN would want Mer to be strong and patient for her, and let the doctors do their job."
AN: Hope you enjoyed Part 1! Thanks for checking it out. This is a series I have been working on for some time. I am not much for the romantic type, but hopefully, I will be able to pull this off. I would love to hear what you all think so far and any theories on what is going to happen next!
