"Well thank you; you flatter me. Hehe yes, I would agree. If it gets that warm around here, knowing the nearest place to cool down is a must. Oh, I'm here doing research on Blue Whales. This is about the time of year that they pass through these waters. They're my research subjects and I'm chasing them down. I'm going to be here for about a month then I'm off to the next place. What's your profession, FDR? If you don't mind me being curious."
"Wales, eh? You do have quite the fetching accent, so it makes sense. Yeah, I live not too far from here, actually. With this heat, you kind of have to know where the closest ice cream is located at all times. Otherwise, you slowly melt. … So what brings you to this side of the pond then? Surely it’s not the ice cream."

"You really think so?" Delia turned and smiled at Kyle, blushing softly, "I'm happy you think so." The brunette's heart beat a little faster at the compliment she received from a man that she respected highly.
"What do you think of this dress?"

A soft sigh escaped the brunette's lips. There was something so dark and mysterious about Kyle, something so suave that Delia's heart almost skipped a beat when she saw the small smile grow on the male's lips. What was he thinking? What was going on behind those dark eyes of his? Delia couldn't help but desperately crave to know more about him.
However, her attention was quickly changed when Kyle began to speak about her babies. Not only did he know the scientific name of them, but he knew that they didn't travel here all that often. Delia gasped and quickly grabbed Kyle's hands, "You know things about the Blue Whale!? That doesn't happen very often!" A bright smile grew on her lips, "You're absolutely amazing, Kyle!" As soon as the words left her lips, Delia quickly withdrew her hands and leaned back in her seat, taking her beer and taking a few sips, her turning bright red. What in the world was going on with her? She must be going mad.
Her mouth fell open, “No way! That’s incredible! Why in the world are you sitting here with me!? Don’t you have to be at some kind of business meeting or something?” Delia couldn’t help but be a little star struck at finding how just how powerful Kyle was. Not only was his family history amazing, but so was he! Delia couldn’t even begin to compare.
And yet, even though she was utterly shocked about the fact he was sitting with her, Kyle continued to talk to the twenty-five year old and requested to know more about her research. Delia cleared her throat and beamed, “Well, I’m currently working on my doctorate in marine biology. I’ve been studying pods of blue whales and watching where they go at different times of the year and for what reasons. It’s all been very interesting.” Delia nodded at Kyle, thanking him for pouring her beer. She lifted up her glass and took a sip, still starstruck that he would sit down with a girl such as herself and want to talk to her.

"You don't have to do that!" The brunette blushed. She didn't want to feel like a charity case. Delia had to admit, she wasn't sure what Knox's game was, but she was definitely going to keep him at a comfortable distance. His eye for fashion was appreciated at this time though.
Delia followed Knox's hand as he pointed at a picture with a stunning red head. Her jaw fell, "You dated HER!?" There was no way that Delia compared at all. Maybe it was a good thing she wanted to keep her distance; she was certainly no match for such a stunning woman.
Once they reached the shoe section, Cordelia began to look through the shoes, humming softly, "Hmm...I'm not sure which pair I like the best. There are so many to choose from." Her blue eyes turned to look at Knox, "Tell me, which of these three pairs do you like the best?" There were three pairs of silver shoes resting on the display one right next to the other. Honestly, she would buy all three pairs if she had more money, but she decided it would be best to be smart about her purchases than to just waste money on something she would only wear occasionally.
"Ah! Thank you so much! Your input is greatly appreciated." Delia beamed at Knox as she turned and began to walk towards the shoe department, hoping that he would follow along. The brunette suddenly became curious about this ex that Knox had mentioned, "That’s definitely worthy at looking at! I don’t have too much money though, so let’s look for a cute pair and if they happen to be a good brand then so be it. And speaking of shoes, who was your ex, if you don’t mind me asking? It sounds like she had an eye for fashion."

ugh.
//I want to personally apologize to those who are waiting for me to reply! The next two weeks are going to be mad with the amount of projects and papers I have due before finals week. I'm going to reply tonight, but don't be surprised if my responses are slow.
I appreciate your patience!

"The Russian Ballet is in town and I wanted to look nice for such an occasion." Delia turned to look at him and smiled, “So? Does it look alright? I’ve been saving up to buy it.”

"It certainly looks expensive." he said. "What’s the occasion?"

Ambrose continued smiling at her, good thing he had no feeling in his face from the beginning or else this would have been a painful experience for his cheeks. Well, even if he was able to feel his cheeks hurting, it wouldn’t mind. For some reason, this woman was seeming to be worth it, so far at least. Delia was pleasant to talk to and also to look at. Not many women of this era intrigued him with the new styles they had but… Delia’s was… fitting to his liking.
When she asked him about what he did for a living, he cleared his throat and responded, “I am the CEO and trustee of the Highmore Banking Group. I also invest into small businesses and even own a lounge of my own. I also do accounting for some personal clients.” as their drinks came, Ambrose thanked the waitress and poured he and Delia their bottles of beer into the cold mugs.
"So, my dear Cordelia, you were about to explain to me your findings?" he looked over at her as he poured the beer.

A soft sigh escaped between Cordelia's lips. He seemed desperate for her to leave. Maybe staying really wasn't the best idea. The brunette slowly nodded, "Alright, I'll go. If you need me, you know where to find me."
Delia turned and walked to the door, but just as she was about to cross the threshold, she looked at him over her shoulder, her blue eyes locking with his, "I care about you too, Damien." And with that, the brunette stepped through and closed the door softly behind her.
Delia quickly bit her lip. How was she supposed to reply to that? She thought this whole time he hated her and just wanted to get rid of her. And now she knew that that was the exact opposite of what she assumed. That only made her want to stay more, “Do I really have to go? I…I want to be here to help you. You’ve done so much for me, can you at least let me do something for you?” Something int he back of her mind told her that he was going to say that she could leave for him, but she wanted a better answer than that. She was tired of feeling useless.

"Because I can tell that something is wrong. I want to help you. Please…why won’t you ever let me in?" Delia was finally getting fed up with him constantly running away whenever something bad happened. She wanted to help him. Even if he kept refusing.

"You better." Delia happily returned the kiss before watching Vincent leave out of the door. During the course of the day, Cordelia went out to go meet with her research professor, working on her journal article more, and went and got groceries. And as soon as she finished putting the groceries away, Delia felt her phone buzz in her pocket. Quickly pulling it out and seeing that Vincent had messaged her, a bright smile grew on her lips as she replied, "That makes me very happy <3 of course! Where do you want to go for Italian? I'll meet you there."
Open
"I always do."
When the kiss broke, he smiled and headed out the door. It was a routine patrol, and after his rounds he spent the rest of his night behind a desk. Good thing too, a drug deal went south during the patrol after his. No fatalities on either side, but some pretty major injuries. Around 5:45, he texted her. “I’m not dead. Still want dinner?”

The brunette swallowed hard. How was she supposed to respond to all of this. First, he swept her off her feet in his valiant effort to save her from an abusive husband, but Edward was also cool and calculating, apathetic even. Yet there was a piece of her that cared very deeply about him. Edward seemed so confident in his ability to save her from her gilded cage. Delia closed her eyes and rested her head on his shoulder, "Edward..." Just as she was about to thank him for being here for her, the door handle began to jiggle as her drunk husband fumbled with trying to open the door. Delia could hear him cursing as he tried to get into the house. Delia's blue eyes quickly looked up at Edward, a pleading look on her face. No, she had to trust him. She quickly took his hand and squeezed it just as the door began to open.
Delia was getting frustrated. It felt like Edward’s emotions changed as quickly as the weather upon the sea. One time, he would say he cared about her and basically admit he wanted to protect her, and then the next, he would be totally cool, deadly even. And to top it all off, he couldn’t even tell she was worried. He had to ask. “Of course I’m worried! What if something happens to you!? What if he pushes you out a window or he gets your gun and shoots you!?” The brunette ran her hands through her hair. She knew the real reason why she was getting frustrated, the reason that his actions were making her so uneasy to the point of physical pain. “I can’t stand the thought of losing y-” She cut herself short, biting down on her lip as she contained the words that wanted to slip out. Her blue eyes locked with Edwards, “Justjust make sure you come back in one piece, alright?”

Delia listened to Kyle speak. His voice was a lovely melody that seemed to flow from his lips. All Delia wanted him to do was to keep talking for eternity so she could listen. And in fact, he did continue to talk. A small giggle left her lips as he asked if he could call her by her first name, "Of course you can. I would prefer it if you did."
The brunette hummed happily, "Well then I'm very glad to have said such words. If I was your mother, I know I would be proud." The thought of being his mother made her giggle again. Delia loved children, but she wasn't ready to have one yet. Nor had she found a man to have children with. Her blue eyes looked upon Kyle's face, "So what do you do for a living? I admit I'm a bit curious about you."
Ambrose saw the blush upon her face and he smiled again, not being able to control himself this time. Delia was so… cute when she talked about her life and the way she seemed so happy about it. When he noticed her heart beat getting faster and faster in tempo, it was like if the orchestra within her body were playing faster to it’s own song, getting ready for the main part of the song. Oh how he loved hearing it, a personal song, just for him.
When she told him how he was like a knight, he made the notion of blushing, smiling slightly. It was nice to hear that he had remembered what his governess and mother had taught him as a boy and was transferring even into the current age he was in. “Why, I thank you, Miss Cordelia, if I may address you by your first name. I am honoured that you see these qualities within me. If mother were alive today, I think she would be very proud to hear such words coming from a lady such as yourself in terms of my behaviour.”
