Sigh... with this month's kuroshitsuji chapter out, marks the end of my holidays. i feel like hearing the school's bell ring again, oh well....
Anyway.
The royal pavillion being indian architectural style gives me chills. Soma mystery figure theory may be even closer than we expect.
Young Viccy is adorable. Yana do design this young vers. victoria well, i can really tell the resemblance between this viccy and old viccy.
I cannot explain why and how, but my insticts just screams ***BIZZA DOLLLL*** when i first see the widow. rarely do you see characters in black butler cry. everytime they do, some drastic change is happening. for a character yet to be elaborated given a close up panel for crying, it just sends off my nerves. it's...way too unnatural.
cue Tango on the Campania "Ottosan?!" shocked sebastian. Another point to Sebastian Da Whorrrrre allegation. I cant really tell if tis a proper donation or a bribe. sebastian's walking suspiciously close with her, not unlike with beast. a blush from the widow as well (tbf sebastian do be famous for being hot) The donation is anonymous, but right after the very panel bocchan summons Sebastian's name, she got a "..." panel, very curious. Something must be happening in the future between these two.
ps: am i high or does she really resembles Beast? look at pg 9 upper right panel.
the hell is bocchan doing a *blegh* face at the back lol?
Again the focus on **Indian** ocean fleet.
Of every single person in the series, i expect bocchan to be the last person to be judgemental of other's marital affairs lololol
This chapter is so very short 😮‍💨

This is the anime onlies observation of Black Butler Emerald Witch Arc, part 4. Brought to you by Want, on 8th june, 2025.
ps: Sorry for last week's absence guys, with last week's recap the comment section is like 90% complaining about it and 10% comments on phantomfam. ;_; This week's complaining are still there but reduced to about 40% with some interesting comment this week.
🚨Spoiler alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨
WeeeWoooWeeeWooo you had been warned
Entry no. 4
Sascha and Ludger's arrival is welcomed by both anime onlies and manga readers alike! Say hi to our german Grim Reapers!
Though shinigami having out of place gears aren't new, a user took note on Ludger's sneakers. To their own surprise, their research shows that sneakers are invented around 1830-1880 (though unpopularized), so it's actually accurate to bb timeframe!
Users are as surpised as bocchan upon seeing the panzers' appearance. Granted, not for long, but the sequence is well received. Especially the sebastian Neo Dodging Bullets part.
Users noticed the emphasize on wolfram's disagreement to harming sieglinde. But hope there's a chance for wolf to talk it out, but they dare not have hopes high.

Anime onlies observation as a manga readers Part 3!
🚨Spoiler alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨
WeeeWoooWeeeWooo you had been warned
Entry no.3
Today is 25th of May, 2025. Here goes my third record of the observation, on Black Butler Emerald Witch Arc, episode 8.
A user manage to get the historical reference for who will be dr. sullivan (sieglinde's father): Fritz Haber
Some user were stinged by how cruel it is to have the recap of the last brutal episode. Though they understand that this is out of the need of story conjunction
some user found the german soldiers attractive in uniform, which is something they themself did not expect of.
Many users points out that despite revealed to be one of the soldiers, wolfram actually seemed to care about sieglinde. They wished wolfram gets a redemption chance but hopes arent high.
"Sebastian rampaging the factory is hot" - users (This opinion is approved by the observer)
"The Elder is hereby awarded Mother of the Year." lampooned user.
"If i have a nickel for every time Ciel and Sebastian commited arson, i'd have three nickels. Which isnt a lot but it's funny it happened that many times."
PS: Am having having memory loss here. Once during circus arc, once here, another where?
Edit: i've got my answer from folks in the comment section. It's the violet house arson in Public School Arc. Thank yall folks

Observation of anime onlies as a manga reader part 2
🚨Spoiler alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨
WeeWoooWeeeWooo You Had been Warned
Entry no.2
Here writes my second week of observation of anime onlies' reaction toward the newest Emerald Witch Arc episode, ep 7.
So far, a user picked up "an old acquaintance of Ciel is doing investigation". Make notes everyone! Two episodes until the arrival of the german beauty (i think)
A user recalls that in the first episode sebby mentioned he never came across werewolf and (actual) witches. Its all coming together.
Users express sympathy towards Sullivan's ill fate of longing the outside world while trapped in a made up society.
"Out of place technology!" exclaimed users.
Most users are fascinated by how the plot twist is revealed. Though a few users expressed disfavour to the plot twist, expecting more supernatural elements instead of futuristic human (furry) shenanigans.
A user had guessed out vicky's intention behind the tea party invitation.

I want to add up a (4) possibility i popped up today: a bizzare doll's infused blood does not counts as the contractor's blood, for it's not produced by oneself
New kuroshitsuji chapter jumpscare at 3am WTF, here we go!
I initially am quite pissed for how short this chapter is, but after rereading for analysis this chapter gives off loads of informations.
Modrivladis: You took everything from me!
Sebastian: I dont even know who you are
"daliance"? "dragged me into the depth of hell"? "i shall use this to remind your body!"? Like, ik and i buy "previous contractor" theory and all logic seems to points to that as far as i can see, but....the wording looks suspiciously....sexy. yeah...
Even bocchan have reached out to the possibilities of this person being a past contractor. Despite sebby saying no, this only stirs up streisand effect to my opinion. This person is goddarn gonna be a past contractor. But for some reason, his "contractor blood" do not have any effect on sebastian. Two possibilities: (1) past/completed contract nullifies and ends relation between contractor and demon, hence no effect (2) bocchan's contract has been taken by faustian as "on going" and priotized over modri's contract. Probably abit of both.
No wait, maybe a third possibility. (3) contract are identified by soul, which modri as a bizzare doll + soul eaten by sebastian, makes his blood be of no difference as a stranger. as always i will give an anology.
The contractor's soul is like one's signature or seal, a prove of identity. All is signed black and white, yes. But talk about the whereabout of said prove...yeah.
The hotel staffs' glance....it unerves me more and more, and rings my bell more too. Their skills and glance just reminds me so much of F.O.L orphanage. In particular, hoffman: theo, hall: artie. Mr rich man's glance is very reminiscent of enraged bd!doll as well.
Also it's comfirmed that sebastian have different faces for each contract, so my previous theory of "sebastian having all the same face all time" is proven wrong. But that makes an even bigger problem: **How did Modri manage to know Sebastian as his past contracted demon If he doesnt even look the same?**
Bocchan: Do you know anyone who happens to have beef with you and are willing to self mutilate to prove a point?
Sebastian: Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?
Sebby sure be making some top tier facial expression/ reaction this chapter XD

How o!ciel and Sebastian will unintentionally break their contract
Im exploded with revelation as i write further and further into this post and chapter analysis. Here we go!!!
While i was reading this post, i think:
"How will the contract judge the truthiness of the contractor, if the contractor himself is uncertain of an answer? "
A asked B for a question in which B is uncertain of the answer. B expressed "I dont know the answer", which will be true this case. But A doesnt except "null" as an answer, so B answered "X", which could be both true and false. If the answer in the end reveals to be "false", will the contract penalize B?
exp:
A: What flavour do you want your cake?
B: Um, not sure, i couldnt pick one
A: Just give me a name
B: Err, strawberry.  (i dunno if i really want this)
One tea time later...
B: Yup now im sure i dont want strawberry flavour. Not my piece of cake.
Omnipresent contract eldritch entity: B...I hereby declare you contract breaker
B: Wtf
Now, lets see what's going on with the two's last question:
C: Every one of your contractors has been devoured already...correct?
S: I do not lie, i truly do not remember him.
If your theory is right, then it's not that sebastian is evading o!ciel's question, but that he genuinely doesnt know the answer. He doesnt have past memories regarding this matter. His answer is a null . Because even he's 99.9999999999% sure he would have eaten previous contractors, he do not comfirm this information to be 100% correct. What if in that 0.0000000001% occurence some shit happened and he didnt had his meal? Saying "Yes, i ate them all" will be false.
If o!ciel continue to press on this matter, then THE CONTRACT WILL BE SUBJECTED TO VIOLATION AND BREAKING WITHOUT THEM REALIZING as many theorized undertaker to be scheming
sebastian's memories, his form and the perceived "lie of omission" in chapter 215
many people have been picking up on how he purposely avoided giving a straight answer and how he may be hiding information from o!ciel but i would like to propose an alternative reading...
i (personally) don't think he would hide information from ciel anymore; not even because i think he 'cares' but because i think he's scared of UT and is taking everything more seriously now. more importantly, the first time he 'lies' (hides info) in the manga, we find out he can't 'lie' when he's directly asked a question and that's what ciel does:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in the new chapter (215), we found that sebastian only created this form for ciel which leaves us with four to five possibilities on what's going on and how modri must've recognised him:
1) modri recognised him from something other than his physical form (which people have mentioned) and sebs genuinely just forgot him because it was a long time ago/only a night long.
2) this is a crack theory but sebastian has facial blindness and doesn't realise how all his forms have the same face (likely considering all the costumes he put on for ciel during the negotiation looked the same) but at the same time, is sebastian really that stupid? (i mean kinda)
3) sebastian and modri met during this contract's time (which is possible since we do not see the better half of 1888, nor do we see much of 1887 or 1886, the year the contract was made).
4) genuinely mistook him for someone else (again possible) or UT made modri think sebastian is the demon/person who wronged him.
5) sebastian does not remember what all of his past forms looked like so cannot accurately tell whether he's ever made a form like this before or not. this will also explain why he did not answer about his previous contractors being devoured or not—he can't answer accurately if he does not know. this would also tie in with possibility 1. modri remembers sebastian but sebastian does not remember him. this would also explain strange things like sebastian remembering how to waltz but not being able to brew tea (as we see in his memories in the luxury liner arc), he can speak languages but did not remember ever having a single friend (which a lot of people found odd... personally i don't find it that strange but again, it's a good point, nobody ever wanted to befriend him?) all this to say one thing...
i think each of sebastian's bodies houses different memories and/or skills.
to visually represent this, i made an example chart:
Tumblr media
say he wanted to contract a noblewoman living in a sultanate in the middle east then surely he'd go for spare body 2, or if he wanted to contract a travelling merchant in eastern europe then surely he'd go for spare body 1.
these are just possible body memories, obviously we don't know what sebastian's other bodies are like. but we do know one thing:
sebastian has to use a mask to become jeremy in the murder arc and he never changes his face when he's disguised. like these are all the same body in different costumes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and they probably all remember schönbrunn palace and how to waltz.
to put it simply, he only has fragments of disjointed memory in each of these bodies because he readily swaps them out. he said he only took this form for ciel and it might technically be true, he might've taken on this body with this hairstyle and this clothing for o!ciel but he might've had this same body in a contract many many years ago... he might just not remember the contract in detail or he doesn't consider the body a unique 'form' but rather the body, hairstyle, clothing and role altogether make his 'form' (remember he spawns in with clothes/hair). is it truly impossible for one to escape from a demon's contract in kuro? for example, say your contractor kills themself, would sebastian be allowed to eat them or would they become a reaper? perhaps he genuinely doesn't remember. look at sebastian's cinematic record in the luxury liner arc (which UT reallyyy wanted to see):
Tumblr media
there's no way UT decided to see the record from the moment they met, this body might just house memories from this point, and nothing before that. again let's visualise it into how each one of sebastian's humanoid 'bodies' could work, cinematic record-wise:
Tumblr media
each time a contract ends, the memories of it end too, obviously there can be fragments/'episodes' remaining (which is why he can remember places he's been like a palace or a sabbath or concepts like witches, reapers, etc...) but it's also important to remember that things like language, dance, musical skills (like playing violin or piano) aren't stored in the same place our normal memories are stored (which is why amnesiacs will often forget everything but will still be able to speak, have muscle memory in dancing or playing piano or other instruments, even video games!) and this is because of how memory works, in branches.
Tumblr media
what we see in black butler's 'cinematic records' are people's episodic memories. they contain one's first hand experiences.
sebastian's memories such as language fall under his semantic ability for example 'cat in french is chat' while his procedural memory is viennese waltz steps. this is also why the simple bizarre dolls that took over the liner had the memory to walk, jump and swim (sebastian even pointed out how they use each other to climb). this isn't to say sebastian is a bizarre doll, but he has a cinematic record just like humans and bizarre dolls do. as we know, the more complex doll of derrick arden had the ability to say a phrase about tea, he was drawing on his semantic memory 'this object is a cup of tea' and 'this smell is pleasant' in order to speak. on the other hand, vice principal agares had many 'episodes' meaning his episodic memory had started working and he remembered who he was (a teacher at weston college), that's why he could form opinions, teach, etc... though it limited his procedural memory (likely due to the brain damage of how he was killed) which is why he kept falling over. while the most complex of the dolls, r!ciel and doll, have full retention of past memories and are able to form new ones adding onto their records.
so let's run over what my theory is:
1. sebastian has multiple bodies he uses for contracts, unclear how many or how they look (can he produce infinite bodies or does he just rotate/reuse a few? if so, does he remember when he does reuse them?) but they are used for different contractors and he believes this form* is exclusive for o!ciel.
*though we don't know if he considers this body the form or the body AND his clothes/hair/role.
2. each of these bodies have separate memory systems e.g. one body's procedural memory could contain 'how to brew tea' while another could contain 'how to do the polka', another body can speak 'xyz dialect of french' while one can speak 'xyz slavic language'.
3. every one of sebastian's 'bodies' has its own cinematic record and they fade every time he 'ends' a contract/his record (explains why his record starts w/ meeting o!ciel). the memories remain if they are procedural/semantic and he has vague episodic memory (like the bizarre dolls' "episodes") which is why can remember places he's gone to but can't remember who he's met there (evidenced by the fact he doesn't know how many people could bear a grudge against him; the people he was counting were probably from the last 3 years he'd spent with o!ciel, not even previous contracts LMAO)
with all this said, there are 3 possibilities remaining for how modri knows him:
1. sebastian is telling the truth, this is the first time he's using this body (and my theory about the bodies is either completely wrong or sebastian uses the same organic matter to make each body which is how the procedural/semantic memories remain while his episodic record gets mostly wiped out everytime he starts a new contract) and modri is seeing something we don't see and that's how he's recognising sebastian.
2. sebastian does not remember using this body before but he has (which is why the body has semantic and procedural memory of how to speak and dance but no episodic memory of friendships despite certain semantic/episodic/declarative memories like 'i have been to schönbrunn palace' remain) and he's met modri before however his episodic record has faded away so he can't remember him, this possibility means that modri is recognising sebastian based on his appearance.
3. (most likely) sebastian does not consider each body a different form but rather each body with independent styling is a different form to him (most likely) and he doesn't remember his past contracts/people he met in this body because of his cinematic record being restarted with every new contract.
Tumblr media
anyway, thoughts?

Observation of anime watchers as a manga reader
🚨Spolier alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨Spoiler alert!🚨
WeeeWoooWeeeWooo You Had Been Warned
Entry no.1
Today counts the third week for me to observe the anime onlies' reaction as a manga reader of black butler. Regretfully, it did not cross my mind to record down my previous observation, so we will start this week, on ep 6.
Previous chemistry expert had been able to accurately tell the miasma, mustard gas, and the ultimate weapon, sarin, based on the chemical formula disclosed this episode. They also notes on how the lines of the "magic circle" sullivan conduct on represents bonds, single and double. Said user had made guesses of the miasma being poison gas (one of the guess being mustard gas, spot on!) upon it's very first debut, based on the symptom, how it doesnt affects people surrounding the victim and the need of removal and disposal of clothing.
Previous "ciel have a big brother" user seems to be more firm on their theory now. They does not think the elder to be a twin though.
A 2CT theorist user had emerged amongst the crowd. As i expected, the less vague presentation of "in cage" o!ciel and "out cage" r!ciel in this media (animation) cannot fool watchers as easily as the manga did. Said user put focus on the covenant marked right eye and compared the two as well.
Most other user takes "the other Ciel" as a metaphor to o!ciel's past innocence and youth.
Users are being suspiscious on John Brown as well. Some are confused on his introduction, for his role was replaced by Ash on ss1. A user are able to pick up the reference to historical character John Brown on last episode's discussion too.

I had been reading chapter 37 (aftermath of circus arc) and im not quite able to interpret what goes on in these panels. This chapter aint animated iirc.
Tumblr media
Red hair. Did sebastian managed to figure out that grelle had previously visited the manor to reap souls (of the assailant)?
Tumblr media
And this scene right here. He's scorning on the corpse/tattered rope...? Its rare to see him make such an (negatively) emotional face. So why?

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, obviously, I don’t think Sebastian knows that this is a trigger. Or that he grabbed his hand in a familiar way the first time, either.
Tumblr media
I think it’s representative. Yana is constantly drawing hands to symbolically represent relationships. Sebastian is insecure in his ability to understand the complexities of human emotions and, by extension, his ability to care for Ciel in this arc. He has an idea, but he defers to Takana’s authority on the subject (initially); I’ll make another post about that later. Meanwhile, the crisis of conscience Ciel is experiencing is over his growing camaraderie and dependence on Sebastian, in r!Ciel’s place.
Tumblr media
Using Sebastian to attain revenge is one thing, but to stop holding a grudge against him for presumably eating r!Ciel’s soul and shamelessly accepting his attachment to Sebastian and the autonomy that he provides Ciel with, is a severe betrayal. A betrayal of r!Ciel, and of Ciel’s own morals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sebastian is at least somewhat aware of this. I’m not totally sure- I think Sebastian is under the impression that Ciel did intentionally sacrifice r!Ciel in his place, and that he took on his identity out of jealousy. He wanted to be heir, and he wanted to marry Lizzy. Sebastian may believe that Ciel regrets doing it and resents Sebastian for being the living proof of Ciel’s wickedness. He wants to force Ciel to confront this aspect of himself and do something about it, but I think he’s slowly come to realize that Ciel isn’t actually to blame, and feels conflicted over his own attachment to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These last two panels, by Sebastian’s expression and the black backgrounds isolating the two of them, read to me as if Sebastian is slighted by Ciel’s scolding and lack of gratitude for saving him; something Sebastian is good at and took pride in. It reminds me of his interactions with Will. Even so, it’s apparent to me that he otherwise admires Ciel for being so resistant to the temptation of accepting his comforts, but then he sincerely wants to comfort him. By rejecting Sebastian and maintaining all the loyalty to his brother that he can, Ciel maintains this very unique (“pure”?) form of integrity that he both resents and yet also wishes to maintain himself. Allowing Sebastian to touch will get his master dirty, so he changes his gloves and offers himself again. Unbeknownst to Sebastian, part of the guilt Ciel feels is over him fulfilling r!Ciel’s role as his devout protector and guide. This will have to be elaborated on in a part 2. (will add a hyperlink here when I have it written)
On the other hand, Ciel already believes himself to have already betrayed his brother for being able to benefit from his death whatsoever. This makes him beyond redemption and beyond saving. We have reason to believe that between r!Ciel’s acceptance of his role as first born and Ciel’s illness keeping him holed up in the manor while r!Ciel had fencing lessons and went traveling with their parents, r!Ciel was less innocent than his younger brother. Our Ciel believes himself wicked and weak for having shamelessly accepted their roles, as his role allowed him to be so naive and complacent that he never felt the same responsibly to protect anyone; most notably, r!Ciel. For that, there were consequences.
Tumblr media
His powerlessness cost r!Ciel his life and at the cost of his life Ciel was granted the pursuit of living; the ability to help people and bring justice to evils are things only granted at the price of facing the horrific realities of a world that has failed others. Of feeling the weight on your soul when you take on the responsibility of other people that you can fail, responsibility for the failures that are inevitable in pursuit of your goals. Chess is a game of sacrifice.
When Sullivan gave them a chemical shower and performed it as a “purification ritual”, something thematically relevant was happening. Their personal feelings of inadequacy surfaced and they’ve been forced to confront them- though Ciel’s was much more immediate and visceral. His pursuit of Sebastian was an acceptance of himself, that he is worth living for despite what he expressed to Finny. That he accepts the responsibility for his own survival in the face of all who have been sacrificed for his continued existence so far.
Tumblr media
Here Sebastian almost seems to reveal the truth of the matter to Ciel, that the ritual was not required to summon him and that it most likely wasn’t even the true intentions of the adults who had committed such evil against him. Demons can appear on a whim, and he repeats as much to Sullivan. On Twitter, Yana said that Ciel was about to ask “did you come on a whim?” but dropped it because it ultimately didn’t matter. She said it wasn’t relevant to the arc iirc, but I disagree lol, It’s at least relevant to the philosophy this manga holds as truth. Ciel wondered if he was already prepared to forfeit his soul for his wish or if Sebastian chose to come to him regardless.
You could wonder if that means that Ciel actually is responsible for sacrificing r!Ciel’s soul (however unintentionally), because that meant that Sebastian never would have eaten him if only Ciel cherished his own soul more.
You could wonder if Sebastian made the decision to take r!Ciel’s soul just to crossover and meet Ciel’s calls completely on his own. You could wonder if Ciel wasn’t prepared to forfeit his soul at all, until he was manipulated and pressured into it by Sebastian.
Who is the blame supposed to fall on? What were Sebastian’s motivations?
You could wonder about any of that, and it doesn’t matter, because the outcome is the same to Ciel. It does not change where they are now. What is done cannot be undone.

The (self-imposed) Original Sin of o!ciel & The Whereabout of r!ciel's Soul
The following is a black butler manga analysis, read at your own risk.
This post is heavily influenced by @一个帅A 's 42000 words analysis on bilibili, please kindly check them out if you will.
In the emerald witch arc many people tends to go: "Oh o!ciel hates/resents sebastian for eating his brother's soul" I want to say this is not the case.
The entire "sebastian ate r!ciel's soul topic" revolves around o!ciel summoning him in the cult, so i will start from there.
In ch137, sebastian told o!ciel that "The price you paid to summon me, is your elder brother's soul", but is that factually true? Bocchan did not sacrifice r!ciel by shoving that blade into him or something. Nor did bocchan said or imply something to the cultist like "please sacrifice my brother and not me". Nor did bocchan push r!ciel out like some delulu's claims. Its explicitly mentioned that the cultist chose to sacrifice r!ciel. In fact, he tried to stop the cultist from dragging r!ciel out. So where did this whole sacrifice deal comes from?
My answer is: Bocchan's instantaneous survivor guilt. He's the second son, the spare, the weak, the sickly. He feels uneeded by people surrounding him. That everyone will be sad and dissapointed seeing him back and not his brother. Those thinkings made him manifest the thought: "Had i been the one killed there, brother would have lived. I lived, and that's what kills Ciel. " This despair, stacked up with his lost of faith to god and resentment to the world, is what summoned sebastian. No, one doesnt need to actually take part in sacrificing another to summon a demon, one just needs to feels like they did so. I say this based on how sebastian tries to trick bocchan into thinking r!ciel's still alive. "If you are of the belief that 'my brother is still alive', then what does it matter or not whether he truly is?"
Hence why in Emerald Witch Arc (in bocchan's mind) r!ciel points to the knight piece (which represents sebastian) and call it "bocchan's prove of sin". Because in bocchan's mind, sebastian's existence is caused by his own doing, him fratriciding his brother. Is bocchan neglecting sebastian due to sebastian's doing? No! He's neglecting his own doing!  Lashing out on sebastian is merely a projection, and as we've seen, it is as weak and fragile as a feather pillow.
In case you ask "where did r!ciel's soul go then", the answer is "not eaten by sebastian, but taken by a third entity to let sebastian manifest". If you still dont understand how, i will put it this way: You invite a business partner to come and make a deal with you. You as the inviter needs to pay for the guest transportation fee. Whether the deal is sealed or not, it's non of the car driver's business. Same logic, its non of the guest busisness regarding how you pay the car driver. You cannot demand a refund from the car driver, nor can you demand your guest to pay you back. Seal the deal and make the faring fee worth it; or fail the negotiation and make the faring fee go down the drain; there's no in between. So stop pinning "r!ciel killer" title on sebastian, he's just a guest there to heed the invite, who's sacrificed for his transportation fee is non of his fucking business.
Tldr; bocchan do not hate sebastian but himself;  neither bocchan nor sebastian kills r!ciel but bocchan pin the fault on himself; and sebastian did not eat r!ciel's soul god fucking damnit
