Buddie stans are starting to annoy me.

Now, disclaimer. I have shipped Buddie. I still do to a certain point. If it happens, I’d be happy with it. But the stans are getting way too toxic rn.

From critiquing anyone who dares to like Tommy and Tevan/Firefly/Bucktommy (I’m a Tevan truther have to say) and downright (some people) categorizing fans of the ship as racist (again, only some), to twist scenes from being Tevan to supposedly being Buddie, to hope there is cheating in the next ep, to handpick what they share from Oliver’s answers to qs… they have to chill.

Because, no. Buck doesn’t look disappointed when Eddie tells him him being bi doesn’t change a thing. He didn’t want Eddie to confess his undying love for him. And no, the sigh of relief after Eddie leaves is not the same as the one we saw in 704. In 705 he is feeling the relief of knowing things are not changing with his best friend, that they can still be friends and not make it weird. It is very different than the sigh after Tommy leaves, which is of relief but on a different connotation.

It is incredibly frustrating to me that now that we’re getting an earned, beautifully written and acted queer storyline, they are not letting us enjoy it fully. That they pretend Tevan isn’t real or that it is funded on Buck projecting his feelings for Eddie on Tommy. That is so unfair to everyone involved with the story. Buck’s sexuality has nothing to do with Eddie.

I don’t know if Tevan will be endgame. And you know, I truly believe the actors don’t fully know either. Tim has stated more than once he plans the story as he goes. Maybe Tommy was a tentative introduction to queer Buck and now that they’ve seen how much people like him and the pairing, he’ll stay for longer (personally, I hope so!).

The vibes I’ve been getting from interviews is that they don’t know. And after Oliver’s interview with Zach Sang and after another interview (forgot the source, sorry) released earlier where he expresses he wants Tommy to stick around (even if it is not entirely for Tevan)… idk I am more sure than ever Buddie is def not happening this season and that maybe it isn’t even on the table rn. I think a lot of people took Buck realizing he’s bi as confirmation Eddie was going to realize he’s queer as well and thus they’ll get together, but that was an assumption fans made. Not something they’ve promised.

Regardless, fans need to be more respectful. And I am sorry for this long rant, but tbh I was fed up from earlier seeing the assumption of Tevan being over bc Oli saying how he would like Tommy to be a part of Buck’s life regardless of what happens, and them ignoring Oli quite literally saying he isn’t sure he wants Buddie just was the straw that broke the camel’s back. If you read all of this - thank you!

You know, I think I’m going to draw a distinction between regular Buddie shippers (myself included!) which I think constitutes the majority of us, who are capable of shipping something without getting tunnel vision. Who can accept that it was never guaranteed, and be happy we’re getting a Bi Man In His Thirties storyline at all. Who are neutral to positive about Tommy at this point. Who can enjoy what’s currently happening without having to find a way to shoehorn a Buddie lens onto it.

And the Buddie-or-Bust. BoBs, let’s call them. Who are being genuinely insufferable with their blinders on, refusing to accept or even acknowledge reality. Who are calling for awful storylines with any kind of sincerity (not just playing with an idea). Who are being nasty to bucktommy shippers and brigading social media. Downright cyberbullying Lou, when he seems like a pretty chill and interesting guy.

Buddies are cool, I ain’t got no problem.

no because Eddie was watching a wedding reality show with Chris. he was a breath away from a wistful sigh when he was admiring Chim's proposal ring. he has openly said he doesn't want to be alone. he puts efforts into a couple's costume. he slicks his hair back but doesn't put on pants when he's opening his door to joy. he fluffs throw pillows and keeps cupcakes ready for dessert at a dinner he hosts and loves good food that can be shared. he was made for romance. that is a romantic character built for a lifelong soulmatism with cute little family vacations and drawings stuck to the fridge and cuddling on the couch.

You put it in words. I really feel the people who push him to be gay and it’s narrative is Buddie fan pushing it.

The very annoying thing about the whole "Eddie hated sex with women" argument is that I can't make a set about it because it will look like straight Eddie propaganda. He and Shannon were constantly ending up in bed, they spent months fucking behind Chris' back, he was so pent up after a few days without sex with Marisol that he had to work out for hours. He actually implies that they have sex daily with the whole "she likes it in the mornings" and the way that he just knew that she would want sex if he went home. That man was fucking. Also, it is implied that he had sex with Ana and recent Ryan interviews make me think that covid + his ex were the reason there were no kisses. Both sex scene we did get, he looked really happy to be there. For the love of God, let that man enjoy sex.
