Breathe. Just keep breathing.
Breathe loud enough that I can hear myself.
Loud enough that I can pretend that you’re still here.
Just pretending... gives me an excuse to keep breathing.
Soon... when I can’t pretend anymore, I’ll come to meet you.
Even when you can’t see me. Even when you can’t talk to me.
I’ll be there. I’ll see you soon, my love.

With a sigh, Jolie rolled her shoulders. It was a long day – and they still had about two hours left. She rocked on her heels, occasionally patting her arm as a means to stay awake. Jolie wasn’t a night owl like most would assume but that didn’t mean she was getting the adequate amount of sleep, either. She missed Kieran dearly, not to mention she hadn’t the slightest clue of what to eat for dinner. ❝ Well, aren’t you a kind boy? I bet the girls love it. ❞ She teased, trying to forget about their previous encounter with that…man. She mumbled quietly about it being a joke, not wanting to cross any boundaries.
Their break came quickly, the festival attendees all scattering about to check out the other attractions they had to offer. Grumbling to herself, Jolie sat on a nearby stool waiting for Ueda to get ready. It wasn’t as if she was particularly thirsty but she could go for a small meal or even a snack – she was starving, she managed to eat a small bowl of oatmeal before she left the house. A sudden grumble came from her stomach and she turned to face away from Ueda. Biting her lip, she closed her eyes. Please tell me no one heard that it was so loud!
❝ Do you have anywhere you’d like to go to eat, Ueda-kun?❞ She questions, turning to give him a sheepish smile.
“Nah... it’s just normal... I’m sure anyone would do something like this.” He rubbed his neck, deflecting her statement. Even he himself didn’t believe he was kind, he still heard that little voice in his head that mocked him for trying to feel good about himself doing this sort of charity.
Later at the break though, he pretended not to hear her stomach growl but his smile couldn’t help but pop up. He was glad that he suggested they go eat some food.
“Um... something filling.” He nodded, he wasn’t very hungry at the moment but he tried to make it so she had an excuse to eat something that fought off the hunger.
“There’s a nice donburi place nearby. Want to go to there?”

SERAPHIM— AVA, NATURALLY, TOOK OFFENSE to being called ‘clumsy’. He wasn’t at all clumsy— actually he was quite the opposite. Which made it that more obvious when he ‘accidentally’ got himself hurt since it was actually almost always not that accidental. The evident pout of his lips showing just how ‘offended’ he was.
Ava did try to touch something, and Nao’s response was only adding fuel to that fire. It was like telling a cat not to do something. Chances were he was going to do it harder. But he seemingly backed off without a word. Staying just out of their view.
So, to say one was to be surprised when he soundlessly slid up behind Nao and wrapped his arms around their body, standing on his toes to lie his chin on their shoulder to look over at what they were doing. Speaking within moments of taking hold. “This way you don’t have to worry about keeping an eye on me. Besides, I want to see what you’re doing.” He says, simply. “Are you making soup?”
Nao wanted nothing more than to stab at Ava’s arms that were wrapped so tightly around him. Though he had no problems if his friends were homosexual, if any male made any sort of weird advances towards him, especially one he didn’t consent, it made him feel disgusted inside. But-- he let it slide... blood was awfully difficult to get out of his white baseball uniform. Ava’s touch made him stiffen up, ever so slightly.
“No--” was his final answer, not even continuing. Nao knew how to continue conversations but he was an expert in ending them with one word answers or answers that lead to no where. He remained silent, fully concentrated in cutting up beef for the stir-fry.
His movements were conducted with purpose, no wasted energy and almost no pauses to think about them. Like a perfect robot who thought of everything ahead.

The man had left but she still felt uncomfortable. Maybe it was the persistence or the thought of trying to be impressed with money. Deep down she knew it was neither but the simple thought of someone seeing her in that way. It wasn’t necessarily bad but it didn’t make her feel good either. Jolie rubbed her arm waiting for the last donator for the moment to decide their amount. Her mind began to wander the sounds around her slowly lessening as her thoughts seemed to shift.
Blinking, she turned to look at Ueda who was awaiting a response. However, his attention wasn’t on her thankfully. Water? Had he been calling her all this time? Immediately, she scratched the back of her neck before looking away to get herself together. ❝ Oh! Water sounds great. Why don’t we go together..? ❞ As she said it, Jolie moved towards the customer taking their donation and having them sign their name on the sheet they provided.
He could somehow sense that she didn’t want to be left alone in case the man came back again while he wasn’t here. Though Ueda wasn’t the strongest man in the world, his presence was enough to ward off the man. Looks like he would have to inform his mom that he was going to walk her back home just in case she needed it.
“I’ll wait until you’re done then we can go on our break.” He encourage, hoping she would sense the subtle support he was giving her.
Ueda looked up on his phone for any cafes nearby that she would like but also not take too much out of his own pocket.

He had noticed this man before walking around the fundraiser location and loitering without showing much interest. He suspected that this man didn’t really want to donate to the charity but rather wanted to impress her. He negotiated with the man since he was turned away but ended up not donating when he realized that Ueda would be the one receiving the money.
A little frustrated (and shaken up with having to deal with someone so persistent) he returned to his post. “Lacroix-san, I dealt with him alright. Do... do you need some water or... ?”
He kept his eye on the gate, making sure the man left.

Shit, shit, shit!
This was the absolutely worse thing that could ever happen. Theft rarely happened in this country but that doesn’t mean that it never happened. He thought he’d leave his guitar for just a second and grab a drink but he saw a man swipe it and continue to walk on like nothing. When Ueda realized that it was gone, he gave chase and the man started running.
“Stop right there! That’s not yours! Thief! Give it back!”

Nao would feel small digits prod his shoulder, and if he so decided to turn and meet the perpetrator, he'd see a rather distraught woman, phone clenched in her hand. "Excuse me? I'm so sorry, but my phone died, and I seem to have gotten myself lost. Do you know where I am?"
To many other people, he wouldn’t be looking very amused at his interrupted meal. His brows furrowed, making his expression look more menacing but it was only because he couldn’t hear her. Squinting at her moving mouth, he took off his earbuds and raised his eyebrows, indicating she should repeat her question again.

❝ … oh. ❞ That was far from expected.
Color rose to his cheeks, embarrassed and a bit ashamed of his assumption of the thoughts of his partner. Minato did not ask their professor for a change in group assignments, and that should have been the indication to give him the benefit of the doubt.
❝ Well, I started reading early in childhood, and I enjoyed it immensely. So I made it my dream to write like my favorite authors, and that dream has never changed. Fictional stories, in particular, have always intrigued me, as they take their readers to fantastical places beyond the pages, and even beyond reality. ❞
Matthew then began to ramble about his favorite works, eyes shining with passion as he leaned over his laptop to look at who he was speaking to.
Ah... how refreshing... He thought, finding the look on the other’s face, unlike the ones he usually showed in class. He hoped that Matthew would relax around him, maybe even trust him a little bit. Wouldn’t that be nice...
Sure, Minato did expect a lot worse considering their past interactions only consisted of ‘hello’s and a ‘Sorry for bumping into you’ (Not that Matthew remembered that part). He looked up when the other began to discuss his reasons and he smiled, genuinely interested in the reason why.
“Oh! Whenever I read fictional stories... I just lose myself in the world. Sometimes when I look up, I have to take a moment to adjust back into reality!”

「Alright! Nothing too loud, got it~」 Mukuro spoke with a smile, she absolutely loved clothes shopping for other people。 She found it super fun and when someone liked what she had picked out for them, it gave Mukuro such a good feeling。 Mukuro didn’t know what all the store carried yet, but she began filing through different outfits in her mind, both from what she’s seen trending as well as taking examples from the men around them。
Once they entered the store, Mukuro beelined towards the men section, 「simple things。。。」 she reminded herself as she scanned through clothing racks, she’d stick to picking out something casual for him to try on, grabbing a few items, she’d hand them over to Akira to hold, picking out some stuff for a couple of outfits ( x & x ), 「there。 Try those on and tell me what you think, please。」 Mukuro just stuck with picking out a couple of plain looking white shirts, a navy blue hoodie, a black sweater, and two different pairs of jeans。
He looked over them, finding the design to be not too bad. He sighed in relief and took them outfits to the dressing room. When he tried them on, they were disturbingly a good fit and he knew that he could match up a few of these with his already existing wardrobe. Indeed... she really knew what she was doing in terms of picking out clothes, he was very impressed.
Akira decided to wear the one he thought looked the nicest to him, hoping he would gain her approval as well. “What do you think?” He asked, unsure if he had to spin or...

「Well, let’s start at the store you were looking at a bit ago,」 Mukuro said as she gestured towards the clothing store across the street, 「I’m sure there’s some stuff in there that you’d look really good in。」 She talked as she walked to the crosswalk in order to get to the store in question, 「what sort of clothing do you like to wear? What do you tend to avoid?」 Mukuro began her little series of 20 questions as they made their way。
「Just so I don’t unintentionally pick out something for you to try on that you find horrendous。」
He seemed a little taken aback at how many questions she was posing but then again it was kind of cute how excited she seemed..
“I just... like simple things. I don’t like designs that seem like I’m yelling in a room full of people.” Akira didn’t really like the attention anyway, he was more than satisfied being a background character. “I-- just trust you to pick anything.”
He would try and escape today with at least one piece of clothing.

“The fuck is wrong with you?” If he wasn’t so prone to memory loss, he might have noticed the change in voice, but at the moment he could only take note of the way the other was speaking instead of the actual sound of his voice. “You’re paying for that — and I offered to suck your dick, not be eaten.” He rolls his eyes, and he sits himself up with a loud sigh. “Why the fuck am I here?”
Tori stood up, not liking to be summoned here (especially since they were enjoying a nice cup of coffee). Their eyes that had seemed to have dilated and changed color was a strong indicator that something was no right.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t want to have my dick sucked from a whore like you. You probably won’t do it correctly anyway.” They sneered and picked up the patient chart from the foot of the bed. “Looks like you were a fucking dumbass and hurt yourself. Doesn’t take a genius to know that.”

「Yeah, we can do a bit of walking around, I don’t mind~」 Mukuro said with a smile, 「actually, forgive me if I’m a bit out of line for saying this but。。。」 her own gaze turned towards what she assumed he was concentrated one before her approach, eyeing the display of the male mannequin on the other side of the street。 「Your wardrobe could use a bit of an upgrade,」 after all, she’s only seen him in rather plain clothing, outside of his bartender uniform。 If he expanded his wardrobe even a little bit, he would look more attractive。
「If it’s alright with you, I’d like to take you to do a bit of shopping, I won’t make you try on anything too outrageous or something you don’t like。」
Crap, she noticed didn’t she?
He felt a little bad but at the same time afraid to try clothes that were out of his... style. Still, he seemed to be in capable hands, after all, Mukuro looked like she was very capable of picking out good clothes with the way she was dressed. Though he had been described as plain to most, he highly doubted that a change in clothes would be the thing that breaks that view.
Strangely he didn’t feel offended by her comment. Your plain nature is your charm. Someone once told him a while ago. And... he wasn’t looking to impress anyone anyway.
No harm would be done, he relented and nodded. “Okay, where should we go?”

He could feel eyes on him, and Minato did not disappoint. Really, did he think Matthew would dismiss it as coincidence after his suspicions rose at the second time he noticed the gazing the other did? It might have been flattering to some, but given his reputation, he had other assumptions to deal with.
❝ I’m not thinking of making you my dinner later, so you can focus on the text instead of gauging how much of you I can fit in my mouth. ❞
Red eyes chose to look up from the outline and scribbles he wrote on his notebook to meet black ones, and the expression on his face was flat, if not with a sliver of dismay. Why had he expected different from his partner, anyway? Might as well get their project done and over with, as soon as possible.
“I-I wasn’t thinking about that!” He quickly tried to explain himself.
“I was just wondering... why you liked literature so much that’s all...” Most of the people in their current class were female or males who took the subject as a side study (he was guilty for his family preferred lawyers or doctors).
Still, it was an interesting subject, he wanted to appreciate it more. “I’m sorry for staring at you... I’ll... go back to work now.”
Rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, he nailed his eyes to the book.
