A Brief Look at the 2018 Volkswagen Arteon
The Volkswagen Arteon is a new flagship passenger car designed for the executive market. The aim is to get drivers out of cars such as BMW's 4 series, C-Class Mercedes and A5 Sportbacks. This segment has a decent amount of competition here in Australia so what can the Arteon bring to the market? Here is a brief review of the VW Arteon for sale for those looking to make a change.
A New Executive Saloon
When they consider the VW Arteon for sale, dealers and more importantly customers may remember the VW Phaeton. The Phaeton was never available here in Australia, but petrolheads may remember its reputation as an over engineered, luxury saloon. This car was very loosely based on the Bentley, but it was a sale flop in the US market, and it altered the thinking at Volkswagen. It was hoped that the Phaeton would transform the VW brand into that of a luxury car maker. Obviously, the philosophy at VW has changed in the intervening years with the focus firmly placed on offering affordable quality. As such VW have less lofty ambitions for their new Arteon lineup as a purely executive car offering and not a direction for the entire company. This should allow the VW Arteon to find its feet in a competitive market and create a base of loyal drivers.
Enter the VW Arteon
The exterior is a simply stunning piece of design work building on some of the excellent touches seen on the recent Passat releases. However, where the Passat is conservative, the Arteon is far more daring with a low ventilated intake and grille set with LED headlights up front. There is a clamshell bonnet that is securely clamped over the chiselled wheel arches and headlights. The car sits on 20” alloy wheels (part of an option pack) and has a roofline that sweeps down to an extended rear overhang. The roofline is lower than the Passat, but every other dimension is larger. This gives the Arteon a sportier look and a more executive scale for extended trips.

5 Things to Expect From the 2018 VW Arteon
As with its predecessors, The VW Arteon continues to be based on the Passat, Volkswagen’s mega selling model that embodies the conservative styling of the brand. However, the 2018 VW Arteon specs have seen some changes, so here we will explore 5 things you can expect from this exciting model.
Daring Design Language
While the Passat design may have been considered conservative in the past, the 2018 VW Arteon has a daring design language. The front end has a melded grill, lower intake and LED headlights to create a large face that is sure to feature on future models in the VW family.
The clamshell bonnet glides over the wheel arches and headlights, complementing the bold 10 turbine blade 20 inch alloys. The roofline sits lower than the Passat, but majestically sweeps down to the long rear overhang.
A Sophisticated Cabin
The frameless glass doors provide plenty of light into the sophisticated cabin. The trim stripes in a silver weave pattern on both the door and dash complement the smart and sporty R-Line black seats, while the LED discreet lighting provides subtle ambiance. The front seats are comfortable with a mixture of both real and imitation leather to provide multiple electric adjustment and massage function. However, what takes the cabin to a new level of luxury is the 9.2 inch Discover Pro screen that provides excellent ease of use and ultra sharp resolution.
Lots of the Latest Tech
In addition to the Discover Pro, the VW Arteon features some of the latest tech. The Active Info Display includes a heads up display and Area View multi camera system.
Excellent Safety Suite
The suite of safety systems and driver aids is impressive and includes land assist, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency brakes. The safety systems also include Emergency Assist that is designed to safely bring your Arteon to a stop in case you become incapacitated for any reason.
Superb Performance
The 206 kW engine is paired with a dual clutch, seven speed automatic transmission. The DSG gear changes feel swift, providing a superb performance. The ride quality and drive are excellent, with effective suspension to help you over those bumps in the road. The Normal drive mode is ideal for regular motoring, so you can cruise the highways with ease. Despite the 1658 kilogram kerb weight, the VW Arteon can manage an impressive standing start sprint of just 5.6 seconds.

3 Things to Consider When Perusing VW Special Offers
VW promotions are an enticing temptation to purchase a new or used Volkswagen car. It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement to buy your first car or make a significant upgrade. However, it’s a good idea to calm down before making a rash decision and examine the offer in more detail before taking the plunge. This will allow you to make a more informed choice that you can afford. Let’s look at three things that you need to consider before you take advantage of a special car offer.
1. Do You Need a Car Loan?
Before you seriously consider a car purchase it’s a good idea to work out what you could realistically afford. If your finances are falling short of the type of car that you would like to buy you will need financing. A car loan will get you on the road quickly, and any funds that you could put towards the purchase will reduce the repayments. A 100% financing option may be possible, but the repayments will be much higher, and security will be required. A special offer will often extend to a variety of car loan options, and they must be carefully examined to see if they are a right fit for you.
2. Used or New?
This point is often dictated by budget alone, but there could be circumstances where this would be more relevant. Perhaps there is a particular model that you want to buy that is no longer made or there could be a great deal on an ex demo car that’s too good to pass up. A demo or brand new car will come with servicing support and a warranty to fix any problems without being out of pocket. A second hand model will be cheaper, but there is no way to know how reliable it will be over a longer period. Buying brand new cars comes at a premium, but there is more scope for added extras, and the car will depreciate in value shortly after the purchase.
3. Is This the Right Car?
It’s vital to choose the right car to suit your particular needs as much as possible. This will minimise the chances of developing buyers remorse and ending up with a vehicle that’s ill suited to your needs. Try to plan for the short to mid term future and ensure that you have adequate room for any forthcoming children and/or pets that you need to transport.

We Could Be Seeing an Electric Beetle at Volkswagen Dealers
When visiting Volkswagen dealers, Perth drivers often find themselves admiring the Beetle. This iconic model has been around for decades and has seen some dramatic transformations. However, the Beetle looks set to experience some even more significant changes, as it has been announced that the next generation will not only be rear wheel drive but also electric. The Beetle Revival: From the “bug” popular in the 1960s to the sleeker revamp, the Beetle has seen some massive changes over the years. The latest Beetle revival could mean that the model arriving in your local VW car dealers is a full electric. According to a UK report, the brand is looking to make changes for their I.D family campaign, and this could mean the Beetle is relaunched as a rear wheel drive EV. Speaking recently, Herbert Diess, MD of the Passenger Cars division has said that Volkswagen is currently deciding on “emotional concepts” for upcoming electric cars. He defines this term as including iconic models such as the Beetle and Microbus in addition to the Buggy and Kubelwagen. He said that if the company did want to do a new Beetle, an EV would be a better option for today’s model. Additionally, it would be closer to the historic original as it could be offered as a rear wheel drive. When Could We See It? Mr. Diess was very careful not to confirm whether any decisions had made been about Beetle successors, but his comments do suggest that it would be a likely route to create an EV. Should it actually be developed into a production model, it would be the second “emotional concept” Volkswagen model to be revived as a fully electric model. It would follow the market variant of the I.D Buzz Microbus concept that is due in Volkswagen dealers in 2022. Mr. Diess did confirm that the MEB Volkswagen electric platform has already been pencilled in for 15 EV models in the coming years. Five of these models would be sold with a Volkswagen badge. The remainder is likely to be Skoda, Seat or Audi models. The current Beetle is no longer offered for sale in Australia due to slow sales. However, it is still available in overseas marketplaces such as Europe as both a hatch or cabriolet. With a growing interest in EV models, if the Beetle was developed into an electric model, it may have a place in Australian showrooms in the coming years. If you are interested in what’s on offer at Volkswagen dealers, Perth drivers should visit us. We are an authorised Volkswagen dealers and have an impressive stock of models including new and quality pre-owned vehicles. New Arrival at Volkswagen Dealers Perth; the 2018 Tiguan 162TSI Sportline
It has been an exciting year at Volkswagen dealers, and it looks like 2017 is going to end on a high. As the end of the year approaches, the 2018 Tiguan 162TSI Sportline has finally landed. The Tiguan range has been highly anticipated at dealers, and it looks set to deliver on all expectations. The 162TSI Sportline sits below the Highline and T-Line variants, yet brings the Golf GTI performance levels at a lower price point.
Fantastic Features:
As expected of Volkswagen dealers, Perth drivers will find the new Tiguan 162TSI Sportline is packed with features. The model has a strong equipment list that includes LED headlights complete with daytime running lights, 8.0 inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility and in built sat nav, “Kapstadt” 20 inch Grey Metallic alloys, and microfibre interior trim.
The Sportline also includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, Traffic Jam Assist and adaptive chassis control.
Optional Extras:
VW HQ is so confident in the Sportline variant equipment list; there are few optional extras available. If you prefer you can opt for pearl or metallic paint, or an electric panoramic glass sunroof as optional extras. While these options are limited, it does still highlight the possibility to customise your new Tiguan to your personal preferences.
Performance Power:
The Tiguan 162TSI Sportline is powered with the familiar turbo 2.0 litre petrol engine that delivers, you guessed it, 162 kW of power. This unit is borrowed from the Golf Mk7 GTI model, so you can expect a fantastic level of performance power. Drive is sent to the 4Motion Volkswagen all wheel drive system through the DSG seven speed transmission. The official performance figures have yet to be confirmed, but since the engine is shared with the Golf GTI, you can expect a rapid performance without compromising on fuel economy.
The Tiguan Range:
The new 162TSI Sportline is now available to order and sits at the top of the Tiguan line. The initial pricing structure has the model listed at $45,990, which is approximately $4,000 less than the range topping 140TDI Highline. There is no transmission option available at this level, with only the base model 110TSI Trendline being offered with either a six speed manual or seven speed DSG. With ten variants in the Tiguan line up, there is sure to be a model to suit your preferences and needs, so be sure to visit VW Perth to check out the range for yourself.
